MISS SOHEE, THE COUTURE LABEL THAT IS DELVING INTO FANTASY LIKE NO OTHER
MISS SOHEE, the new and emerging designer that is doing fantasy like no other. Her way of creating beautiful, artful women’s clothing is something that is worth delving deep into as her imagination takes fashion and cotoure into different sights.
Her couture pieces are made with fantasy and imagination that it almost seems surprising that Miss Sohee is only twenty five year old. With her artful takes on couture it is so lively and intricate you would believe someone of a much older and with a higher caliber would do what she does. With her designs she activates our imagination and makes us delve into our fantasy, or in this case her own. Someone who has not been in the fashion industry for that long, she has the mastery and expertise to compete with much older houses and that is what makes her and her work so brilliant.
Sohee Park, extraordinary creations were first put into use in high school where she would draw and paint, expressing her own fantasy world which resulted in her now notable creations for her own namesake label MISS SOHEE. However, what struck her to go down the fashion path was getting a chance to view a Chanel Fashion show on TV in 2012 which catapulted the talented creative to begin her fashion journey at Central Saint Martins. Throughout her time at CSM, Park interned for Marc Jacobs and Molly Goddarad, and here she honed in her creative skills and ethereal aesthetic which can be seen in the flower brooches and headpieces she helped make for Marc Jacobs Spring 2020 collection.
Her debut collection under her namesake label MISS SOHEE. “The Girl In Full Bloom”, was produced during lockdown and released in a series of beautiful and striking photographs that captured my attention as well as many others. From the colors used the striking pieces to the penchant for sculptural silhouettes “The Girl in Full Bloom” Fall/Winter 2020 collection was a notable collection for MISS SOHEE that undoubtedly catapulted her in success within fashion as a young creative and garnered many fashion lovers alike. Looks from her debut collection have been featured on the cover of LOVE magazine.
In addition, the young creative has also collaborated with the amazing Christian Cowan, blown away by her work he asked to collaborate on a trio of looks from his Spring 2021 collection which have already been seen on big acts like Bella Hadid for Vogue Espana, March 2021. The photographs captured the essence and ethereal aesthetic that is MISS SOHEE and Christian Cowan as one. With the demi couture, floral inspired pieces for the collection worn by model Georgie Hobday, the collaborative collection was an outstanding masterpiece.
Park’s latest Fall/Winter 2021 collection, “HaenYeo”, has propelled her namesake brand MISS SOHEE into even more success. With its focus on being eco conscious and sustainable, MISS SOHEE has once again outdone herself with this collection. MISS SOHEE’s sophomore collection “HaenYeo” couture collection, which is an ode to the sea women of Korea, continues the brands focus on beautiful craftsmanship, extraordinary sculpted gowns, and fantastic headpieces that capture the brand’s craftsmanship and Park’s artistry. This second time around, the collection is filled with shell-like elements that exhibit intricate detailings of corrals and shellfish which she gained inspiration from her late grandmother's home which is by the sea. With use of ocean treasures and life, MISS SOHEE used this inspiration to create an even more beautiful and introspective collection than her last. Using deadstock and recycled fabrics, MISS SOHEE has amassed many stars from the likes of Cardi B, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Gemma Chan.
The new and emerging designer has already captured my heart and the heart of many others and I can't wait to see what MISS SOHEE’s beautiful, intricate collections take on a bigger life than it already has.

LOVE + FEAR TOUR: NADYA DZYAK & OTHER
We have finally arrived at the third and final chapter of our “Love + Fear” world tour fashion breakdown! After we looked at the designs of Maggie Barry and Olima, it’s time to tackle down all the looks created by the other designers who were involved in this epic tour.
This week I'm introducing you to Ukrainian emerging fashion designer Nadya Dzyak whose designs were adored by Marina and stylist Mercedes Natalia for her tour.
First up, we got the Spring/Summer 2019 long ruffled nude tulle dress with matching round belt ($822.00).
M also wears the Versace’s heart-shaped Love gold ring with Medusa icon and meander pattern...
...and her beloved Nike Huarache sneakers in full white!
Nadya Dzyak’s Resort 2020 lookbook showed the designer experimenting with unusual color combinations and new shapes. Here, our girl wore the nude tulle mini dress with multicolored dots, ruffles and silk trim.
Her jewelry here included a pair of Alison Lou’s green neon Jelly hoops from her iconic “Loucite” collection...
…and a vintage Chanel gold sunburst logo chain necklace.
Next, Marina looked dazzling on stage in another Nadya Dzyak Resort 2020 confection: a blue dotted tulle tiered mini dress with silk trim. Check out that circular pleat at the front!
This look was crowned with a pair of ZARA gold hammered earrings with three flat faux pearls...
...plus her Hermina Athens Amalthea gold-plated sterling silver statement necklace.
At her Dublin date, the Greek-Welsh singer chose this crimson red tulle mini dress with dots, matching belt and silk trim from Nadya Dzyak’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection.
Manchester-based label The Dolls House was founded in 2012 by Rebecca Henry. Marina debuted the sparkly Cindy silver sequin dress which features a square neck and ruched sash detail. HOT!
A pair of Steve Madden’s Carissa metallic silver sneakers with silver-tone rhinestones all over perfectly tied the look together.
We’re almost at the end! Marina wore two colorful looks from the Resort 2020 collection of Maisie Wilen, the young emerging designer who was discovered by Kanye West back in 2019!
First up is this orange & blue psychedelic abstract print long-sleeve mini bodycon dress with asymmetrical hem.
The other look is the Body Shop psychedelic printed green & blue long-sleeve top and matching leggings.
All of her jewelry is Sylvia Toledano. She wore the Petite Candy hoops in gold brass with turquoise, turquoise verte, cornaline, yellow onyx, amethyst, died ruby and moonstone…
…the Fall/Winter 2019 Lee long necklace with multicolored stones which she wrapped twice around her neck…
…and the Byzantine cuff with green turquoise, dried ruby, turquoise, amethyst, cornaline, green onyx, tiger eye, yellow onyx, black onyx and calcedoine.

Women Dressing Women Costume Exhibit at The Met
"The Costume Institute's fall 2023 exhibition will explore the creativity and artistic legacy of women fashion designers from The Met’s permanent collection, tracing a lineage of makers from the turn of the twentieth century to the present day by highlighting celebrated designers, new voices, and forgotten histories alike.
Women Dressing Women will feature the work of over seventy womenswear designers, spanning ca. 1910 to today, including French haute couture from houses such as Jeanne Lanvin, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet, to American makers like Ann Lowe, Claire McCardell, and Isabel Toledo, along with contemporary designs by Iris van Herpen, Rei Kawakubo, Anifa Mvuemba, and Simone Rocha." - The Met
I love that The Met is doing two different costume exhibits a year now. This one only runs for three months, so obviously I had to go this week. Highlights below!

Gender
The spring/summer 2018 menswear shows are a prime example of the fashion industry shifting towards a gender-fluid space where skirts are not female wardrobe staples, but a garment to be worn-and enjoyed-by all. In Paris, Thom Browne sent an army of models down the runway in grey pleated skirts that aptly chimed with the newly adopted uniform of the boys in Exeter. At London Collections:Men the skirt offering expanded into highly elaborate dresses at Vivienne Westwood, Charles Jeffrey Loverboy and Edward Crutchley.
Spring 2016 saw Zara launch a 16-piece collection of unisex items, titled “Ungendered”, with males and females modelling all pieces in the campaign images. Selfridges’ concept space “Agender” - a “unique genderless shopping experience across fashion, accessories and beauty” - moves away from a separate “his” and “hers” experience across all brand levels. And ASOS is currently working towards a genderless style offering following the success of ASOS influencers wearing items purchased from both menswear and womenswear lines.
Theodora “Teddy” Quinlivan
Teddy Quinlivan was discovered by Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière in 2015, and came out as transgender two years later. She has since taken the modelling world by storm, with a résumé that includes Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Moschino, Haider Ackermann, Paco Rabanne, and Jeremy Scott.
Nathan Westling
Nathan has previously starred in many major campaigns for designer brands including Dior and Louis Vuitton. In March (two months into his transition), he opened up about the process to CNN Style. When asked about how he saw the future of his career expanding, Nathan told the outlet, “We’ll have to see how this story takes to fashion and how everything takes. I’m not worried about it. I think it’s going to be a good change and I’m excited for it. I’m really, really excited.”
He added, “It’s been an incredible journey, it’s been an incredible process and I’m just really happy to be on this path, and at such a young age, too. That’s such a blessing.”
Vogue reports that Nathan will walk in a handle of more runway shows throughout the month of June as men’s fashion weeks continue internationally.
Noah Carlos
Noah Carlos identifies as a gender non-binary model. Carlos was offered a modelling contract with IMG. Carlos has strutted across quite a few fall catwalks, including Coach, Rick Owens and Self Portrait, and is continually advocating for more non-binary casting on the runways.
Zaïr Cheseaux
The 22-year-old Swiss-Congolese model, who recently transitioned to male, was brought up outside the medieval town of Sion in Switzerland and made his first appearance for KNWLS in 2019. He has since made waves for Richard Quinn. His career highlight was AW22, when he walked for brands such as Hermès, Balmain, Loewe, Stella McCartney, Vetements and Acne Studios. “There’s something unique about Zaïr,” says Ben Grimes. “And it’s not about beauty or proportion, it’s about presence. He’s unabashedly himself.”

Fashion Seasons
Every year, there are four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn/Fall, and Winter. Because the seasons intertwine effortlessly, the fashion industry produces two collections yearly.
The Spring/Summer collections come first from September to November, and then we get Fall/Winter collections from February to April.
This is a simple case of planning ahead so that the public knows what designers foresee on the streets for the relevant season. An excellent shopping tip is to buy winter clothes in the summer and vice-versa. You end up with massive savings because stocks must go.
New York Fashion Week (NYFW)
New York fashion week comes first. The biggest shows in New York are usually Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera, Laquan Smith, Michael Kors and Tory Burch, to name a few.

London Fashion Week (LFW)
Next up is London fashion week. There are few shows in London, but huge brands tend to book international models quickly. Centre stage shows include Burberry, Erdem, Emilia Wickstead, Victoria Beckham and Vivienne Westwood.
Vivienne Westwood's granddaughter walks in her fashion show posthumously.
Milan Fashion Week (MFW)
Now comes Milan fashion week. By this time, we are well and truly into the madness, and models are tired. The shows that attract the most attention include D&G, Dsquared2, Etro, Fendi, Prada and Philipp Plein.

Paris Fashion Week (PFW)
Finally, we end with Paris fashion week. Everyone is tired by this point and ready to go home. But how can you when shows like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Acne Studios, Miu Miu, Balenciaga, Hermes, Christian Dior, Saint Laurent, Valentino & Balmain are on?
A Christian Dior Tote Bag is seen in the 2020 collection.
Not to mention that a designer can move their show to a different destination. For example, in 2023, Versace showed their FW23 collection in Los Angeles instead of Milan.

A Brief History Of Fashion Shows
The origin of contemporary fashion shows began in the late 1800s with private fashion events assorted with canapés and tea.

The ready-to-wear collection has a stance of a prowling protagonist in a film noir. The first segment of the show displays feminine oversized trench coats with loose trousers and blazers all in the trademark Chanel tweed fabric. They are beautiful and elusive, like the constellations of stars in the night sky, distant but still beautiful nonetheless.
As a designer, Lagerfeld does not hide any pretense in his work. They are clothing made for socialites and high society. Though as beautiful as they are, it seems that the only ones would be comfortable in wearing them are the dukes and duchesses of some estate. Not ‘cause they look expensive, which they do, but for the boldness of colours and patterns chosen for the collection.
The trousers have lengthen borders in the waist, and wide and loose fit. And on the runway, they flow like dresses through the stage as the models move. And the knee length skirts with the crème tops are both alluring and elegant. The other articles like the winter jackets look preciously feminine and cute.
Overall, the collection gives the impression of the iconic high society of Europe. The clothing are sophisticated and graceful. There is a French discerning spirit in the design and aesthetic of ready-to-wear.
While the Haute Couture Show upstages that in its elegance and exquisiteness. It is more refined and dignified in its tone and tameness.
