I’m loving the woman I’m becoming. Lately, I’ve been using my anxiety as motivation to take care of self, even if it’s just for a moment. I realized I was allowing it to ruin my life when I checked my email after a few days only to see I missed out on multiple opportunities ( and when I say guap!!! GUAP!) because I didn’t have a routine in working through my anxiety. I would normally just shut down and disappear. At that point, I decided that it’s not going f*ck with all the hard work I’ve put in. Now, whenever I feel overwhelmed/anxious, I’d do three things: 1. Take a nap. Yup! I love naps. 2. Listen to music and dance around. 3. Write in my journal to get those feelings out. How do you deal/work around your anxiety? “And just like that, it fades. The seconds, minutes, hours that escalated into moments transformed into just more memories on top of memories.” This week was an emotional one, where I sat by myself during the day and faced my personal demons. Many won’t say it, but you are your exes and your parents. I refuse to say failed relationships because failure implies nothing was learned and nothing bore fruit. Our parents (for those who have them) are the first set of humans we see and interact with. They are the ones that help shape our ideas of intimacy, friendship, resiliency, and courage. However, the habits we create, the people we surround ourselves with, and the goals we make for ourselves are wrapped up in our past experiences with both alike. Some are positives and some are unhealthy. Nonetheless, the older you get and mature into adulthood, it is your responsibility to face these truths - the good and bad. It’s your responsibility to look at yourself and say, I need help to work on this. Take the needed time and steps necessary to work on self. It is the most difficult, yet rewarding experiences in life and youll find that freedom isn’t found in how much money you make, being able to work for yourself, or how many flights you can take in a year. Freedom is the ability to look yourself in the mirror, identify your demons, and being able to navigate this world and build connections based on the person you’re becoming and not the person you used to be.
