I sold 10 earrings, 4 cards, and 1 collage! My favourite sale was to an older guy; he bought the 3-tiered heart earrings as a present for his daughter's girlfriend 😭. I sold one of each pair that I did a duplicate design of, so I was right about what would be popular, plus Gonzo, the radishes, the lobster and BOTH pairs of the salmon. If I had made the connection between who would be interested in sockeye salmon earrings and the fact that the fair was held in the Indigenous students' centre I would have made more and I think they would have sold!
The burning house collage went to someone whose son works fighting wildfires and the rest rest of them were just great conversation pieces that led to some really nice chats. I've learned that there is a market for clip-on earrings so I'm going to look into that! I had four or five people who loved the designs but didn't have their ears pierced so that's definitely something to think about. Anyway it was so much fun and I think there's going to be another one in a couple of months so I'll do it again!
I spent my morning showing rotating groups of grade 3's and 4's how to apply fractions to real life by getting them to halve a given recipe for sour cream and onion dip, rewrite the new measurements, and then MAKE IT!!!! and they have a herb garden in their class so they harvested fresh dill and carefully chopped it with a little paring knife and they had so much fun :)))
