WHEN CORSETS WERE… BAD? ⁣⁣

Have you imagined how those noble ladies of Europe, decades ago, manage to look like hourglasses, with a waist that can be spanned with the hands. ⁣⁣

They squeezed their upper body inside a corset. Doing this was a regular dressing routine for ladies around 1560 – 1910.⁣⁣

⁣ Wearing a Corset was enforced and often brutal. Many of the ladies of those times suffered from health problems due to the tight lacing of the corset. Was indigestion, heartburn, compression of the inner organs, and resultant problems like cramps that beset these ladies because of corseting worth it all. ⁣ For them, yes. Vanity is a nuisance, at times.⁣⁣

⁣ This fashion image is from 1904. ⁣

⁣ ⁣ The silhouette of the last decade of Corsets looked like the letter “S.” The breast was pushed forward, and the posterior was tilted back forcefully. ⁣ Newer corset styles supported this shape and were called “pigeon breast.” ⁣ By 1905, this design was beginning to fade and was forgotten by 1910.⁣

⁣ ⁣ Fashion magazines of the time exaggerated this “S” curve. Sadly, this style was one of the cruelest corset shapes of all times, altering the posture and affecting women’s health. ⁣

⁣ ⁣ Modern corsetry won’t harm you, encouraging the right posture instead!⁣⁣

Too excited to come down from my silver cloud!!!

Alrighty so I was previously waist training in a cotton underbust from orchard corset and sadly my rib spring was too big with my waist reduction so i was getting the )( lacing gap so that went to a new home in honolulu. I have however saved enough to get not one but two custom corsets and can not wait (but have too since shes booked till holidays....sad panda face) And when i get them I will share will all of you my lovely followers!!!!
