Darry x Fem!reader. They go out on a nice date but Y/n is wearing smth a lil revealing...maybe a little spice in there, but I understand if you don't want to write that 😅
i love this idea! thank you for the request!!
i have limited experience/comfort with writing spicier things, but i gave it a go. i'd say it's more a fluffy/suggestive vibe than spicy. i added in some little details about red lipstick, lol. i hope you like it <3
staring respectfully
even a perfect gentleman can be tempted
DarryxFem!reader. wc: 1523. flirty and suggestive date night between established partners. no real content warnings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Aaannndd, perfect!” you said to yourself as you finished lining your top lip with red lipstick.
You had just enough time to adjust your dress and give the mirror a final look before Darry was supposed to pick you up. He said he’d be there at 7:30 sharp. And you knew it would be exactly 7:30 sharp because he’s never late, especially to pick you up for a date night.
“Keys, wallet, lipstick” you run through the list of items to throw in your purse before the doorbell interrupts you. 7:29pm, of course, he’s running early because he’s excited.
Regular date nights are not so regular with you and Darry, mostly because he works all the time and money…well it’s not exactly unlimited. But when you two do get the chance to go out, it’s really special. Or as special as it can be on the east side of Tulsa. You guys have a favorite spot, a little diner, that’s more than the Tastee Freez but not exactly the ritz. It didn’t matter though because Darry could make you feel special anywhere.
“Coming!” you call down the hall, hoping he’ll hear you as you slip on a pair of black heels and start walking.
You paused before opening the door, just for a moment. You wanted to collect yourself and look a little more poised before Darry saw you. What he didn’t yet know is that you’d gone out of your way to doll up for this date night. It’d been a few weeks since you were able to go out and you’d both been flat broke around his birthday, so you wanted to make it special now that there was the time and money for a night out. New dress, new shoes, new lipstick.
Red. Wine red lipstick. Nothing too flashy, but it would definitely catch his eye.
“Hey, Y/N—oh shit!” Darry exclaimed as you opened the door, “pardon my french, sweetheart, I’m sorry.”
Slam dunk, hole in one, mission accomplished. In the first two seconds, you knew he loved it.
“Is everything alright?” you asked him in a giggly tone. He took a few steps back to let you fully out of the door and turn around to lock it behind you.
“Oh, most definitely,” he said, wrapping an arm around your waist as you twisted the key in the lock.
“Well you looked like you’d seen a ghost there for a second," you teased him.
“I just—you look amazing, it took me by surprise…not that you don’t always look amazing, it’s just—is that a new dress?” he stammered.
“Tripping over your words tonight, Curtis?” you teased again as you turned around in his arms, “yes, it’s a new dress. I wanted tonight to be special since, you know, it’s been awhile since we’ve been out.”
“Well…I…yeah, let’s go out then,” he replied, gesturing towards the truck without taking his eyes off you.
All the way to the car you could feel him watching you. He was normally so put together and sure-spoken. You’d definitely taken Darryl Curtis Jr. by surprise tonight and he was not going to waste a single moment’s opportunity to take it all in.
Ever the perfect gentleman, he opened the truck’s passenger door and helped you climb in. You were sure-footed in heels, but he always helped you up into the truck no matter what you’re wearing. Once you were seated, you could immediately tell that he’d put in his own kind of effort for the evening. The truck was freshly cleaned, tools taken out of the bed, seats even looked vacuumed. Soda and Steve must have done him a solid at the DX before he came over.
That’s not to say his appearance was underwhelming in the slightest. As he started the engine, you admired the curve of his biceps peeking out from the sleeves of a freshly-ironed muscle tee. He was wearing his good jeans, the dark denim that fit him like a glove and had no holes. The best part, though: that one front curl of his greased dark hair fell effortlessly tousled along the middle of his forehead. It always looked, to you at least, like a special flair that someone put on a signature. Anyone could sign the name Darryl Curtis Jr., but could anyone else do that with such perfection? Probably not.
“Is that new lipstick too?” Darry asked you as he pulled up to a stoplight. He took his eyes off the road and fully took in your face, appreciating it the way he always does but with a glimmer in eye that made you feel like his whole world and then some.
“Yeah,” you replied, “I heard you tell the guys last week that you like red lipstick and I didn’t have any so I picked some up.”
He replied with a deep sigh and a playful smile as the truck lurched forward at the green light. Darry’s always a careful driver, but you could tell it was hard for him to focus on the rules of the road at the moment.
“So you’re eavesdropping on the gang’s locker room talk, huh?” Darry teased.
“It’s hardly eavesdropping when you’re all scream-talking in the living room and I’m six feet away in the kitchen,” you pointed out, “besides, aren’t you glad I overheard you say that?”
“Very glad,” he said as he put the truck in park down the street from the diner. He raised a gentle hand to your cheek, pulling you in for a soft kiss before getting out.
You got seated in the diner at your favorite booth, the one you and Darry always shared. Your red lips almost matched the color of the leather seats, like a picture in a magazine staged for perfection. Normally, he’s the type of guy who likes to sit next to his date on the same side of the booth, sling an around your shoulder, that kind of thing. But tonight he sat across from you, probably because the view was better.
“You two coming from some big party?” the waitress who always served you guys asked as she approached the table.
“You’re dressed to the nines tonight!” she added, turning to you.
“Oh no, ma’am,” Darry replied for you, “just taking my favorite girl out tonight.”
“Special occasion then?” the waitress asked in a playful tone.
“It’s always a special occasion with Y/N.” Darry said, making you blush a little.
He said it with a loving smile, never taking his eyes off you as he spoke to the waitress. If you’d have been on a date with any other man, any less respectful and upstanding man, the look he was giving you right now would have already escalated into a speedy trip to a private location. But not Darry. He wanted you, that was obvious, but he still had his morals.
“You’re doing a lot of talking with your eyes tonight,” you said to Darry after you’d both placed your orders and the waitress was safely out of earshot.
He cleared his throat and learned forward, extending his long arms across the table with hands outstretched and reaching for your own, “I could say the same about you. That dress is practically screaming at me.”
“Screaming what at you?” you giggled.
“I think you know,” he replied with a wink.
“Well,” you cocked your head to the side with a playful grin, “I think you should clarify because I was always taught that staring is rude.”
“Y/N,” he said slowly in a low tone, “I’m staring respectfully.”
“Oh what a perfect gentleman!” you teased.
“Even a perfect gentleman can be tempted,” he replied, “especially with a dress like that.”
The flirtation continued to escalate as the waitress came back with your food. Nothing special, but you were surprised that Darry ordered a beer. He doesn’t normally do that unless he’s nervous or…well, really wants to make sure he has a good time.
Once the dishes were cleared and the check paid, you two headed out of the dinner and into the fading Tulsa evening. Even the east side of the city could be charming at night, with the neon signs and other couples walking around, probably out for date night too. The Circle Cinema sign caught your eye as you walked hand in hand down the street.
“Maybe we could catch a movie,” you suggested, pointing at the marquee. The truck was in eyesight now, and his gaze darted from your face to the outline of its fender and back to you.
“Definitely not, darlin’” Darry replied, “we’re going home.”
“Why’s that?” you asked, “it’s still early, the night’s still young!”
“We’re going home,” he repeated, stopping and placing his two strong, calloused hands on your exposed shoulders, “because I’m tired of just staring respectfully at this dress.”
You giggled and grabbed his hand as you started walking again, “Respectfully, Curtis, I think I know what you mean.”
“Then get in this truck,” he said as he opened the door for you, “so we can go somewhere and get a little less respectful.”

Could you do something where the gangs (including Tim and curly) s/o has older brothers who are also greasers and just really intimidating in general?
A/N: This was such a fun concept? Dude, I had a lot of fun writing these, thanks for requesting them <3 and look at the little cuties, god they're the cutest things-
Tumblr media
DARRY CURTIS
Darry’s not used to having older siblings? He is the oldest, that’s just the way the world is-
Your brothers though? I have a feeling he’d be one of the boys who are the least afraid of your brothers
Like yeah, your brothers are well-known for being the tough hoods they are, there’s practically your own little family gang just between them
But Darry’s not going to be cowering beneath them, shaking in his boots afraid of them
He’s going to try and be a gentleman? He’ll shake your brothers’ hands, make conversation with them when he picks you up before dates
It’s just Darry being Darry, his mama taught him his manners and he’s going to use them <3 he’s a good person
SODAPOP CURTIS
I just have this gut feeling that without a doubt, Sodapop’s going to be at the very least, slightly afraid of your brothers
At least in the beginning, y’know? Meeting your brothers was probably one of the scariest moments in his entire life
They’re just sort of intimidating, I’m sure they’re the type to try and strike fear into all of the suitors who come for their kid sibling
After he proves himself though, either by protecting you from something or standing up for you somewhere, your brothers are pretty alright with him
Now he’s just got a few more older siblings who like to nag him for things!
I feel like he’d get along with them too, now they’re asking for you to start bringing him around more
PONYBOY CURTIS
Unlike his older brothers, Ponyboy is, in fact, used to having scary older brothers! So yours probably won’t bother him at all
He’s very used to the whole tradition of giving your younger sibling’s date the third degree whenever you meet them for the first time
But honestly? There really isn’t a reason for your brothers not to like Ponyboy, he’s doesn’t really do a lot of bad stuff
Unless your brothers have beef with the Curtis gang for some reason, Ponyboy’s a pretty safe choice to bring home to them!
He’s respectful with them too, he does his best to make conversation when the occasions call for it and he’s polite when he stops by your house
They like to say hi to him when he walks you home from school, waving from the house or the front yard when you guys show up
DALLAS WINSTON
Do we really think Dallas is going to be off-put by you having big, scary, older brothers? Cause I don’t-
Your brothers don’t scare him in the slightest, and if they do, he’s never going to admit it Dal likes to brag that he’s seen worse up in New York and that your brothers are nothing in comparison to some of the hoods he’s dealt with
He’s going to be rude, he’s going to push your brothers’ buttons a little and pull you closer and kiss you deeper than is polite
Honestly? I bet your brothers don’t really like him, they think you can do a lot better than Dallas Winston and will probably tell you that on the regular
However, if Dally takes down some Socs for you or something, plays a protective role that your brothers usually occupy, maybe they’ll start to like him a little more
That it doesn’t mean they’re going to be any more lenient when it comes to the rules about him hanging around though-
JOHNNY CADE
Probably your safest choice of a boyfriend when your brothers are as big and bad as they are, they’re very overprotective of you probably
Johnny has never done anything wrong in his life, is super duper polite and won’t push any of the lines your brothers draw
They don’t want him spending the night at your house? Johnny’s alright with that, he’ll give you a soft kiss on the porch before he heads off for the night
He’s respectful guys, he’s not going to push the rules and he’s going to be considerate of your brothers
If you ask him, he’ll probably tell you that he’s not afraid of them, only slightly scared but I can see Johnny kind of looking up to them like he looks up to Dallas
Don’t tell Dally that though, Johnny doesn’t think he needs to know-
TWO-BIT MATHEWS
Hoohoo, oh boy, Two-Bit is going to run your brothers ragged-
Two-Bit likes to be annoying and your brothers are overprotective and it’s just so easy to get them all riled up
He’ll try and push the line sometimes, argue with them about silly things and just be a menace whenever he’s around them
Two’s not afraid of them like at all, he probably should be at least a little afraid but there isn’t one ounce of fear in his body when it comes to them
It’s another one of those, he’s gotta prove himself to your brothers? They think you can do better than Two-Bit, blah blah blah
But just one time where’s comforting you when you really need it or just being there for you when you need him, your brothers are a little more accepting of the hood
STEVE RANDLE
My version of Steve is an only child, so that’s going to affect this a little cause my Steve isn’t used to having siblings in general-
Is Steve afraid of your brothers? The answer is yes, very much so, thoroughly afraid of them
But he won’t act like he’s afraid, he just tries to toughen up by pushing his shoulders back and his chin up whenever he’s got to talk with them
Their approval is sort of important to him? He wants your brothers to like him, that’s really all he wants, he seeks the validation
Steve’s going to be polite then, making sure to have you home on time so you won’t break curfew
Your brothers probably think he’s a good enough kid, they’ll nag him every now and again, tease him just enough to keep him on his toes, it’s a brotherly kind of love guys
TIM SHEPARD
Tim’s not afraid of your brothers, like at all-
He’s a gang leader guys, he deals with “big and scary” guys all the time so your brothers aren’t going to be any different
Tim’s got an attitude, that’s for sure, and it’s not going to change when it comes to your brothers, he’s still going to be a jerk and pester them and push all their buttons
He’s not rude? Like he follows the rules they’ve set for you, but he’s a little passive-aggressive, whispering comments that you’ll smack him for and just being a menace
Tim doesn’t take too kindly to teasing, he’s not going to let them push him around and your brothers will probably figure that out really fast
Again, your brothers probably don’t like him, whether they don’t like Tim himself or they don’t like the Shepard gang? No one will ever know
CURLY SHEPARD
Your Brothers Either Don’t Like Him Or Just Don’t Like The Shepard Gang Pt.2
Curly’s not the greatest kid, he gets into trouble and does things he shouldn’t, but he’s used to having a scary older brother
Tim’s pretty good about keeping him in line, so he’s not too surprised when your brothers make rules about him coming around
Is Curly going to follow all of them? Probably not, he treats them more like guidelines than actual rules, curfew is more of a recommendation in his mind than a hard rule to follow
He takes care of you though, that’s something your brothers have to admit about Curly, he takes good care of you
From making sure he’s between you and whatever danger you might find yourself against to simply sharing his food with you if you’re hungry <3

HEY HI HELLO!! I was wondering if you havent already, do johnny or darry headcannons? BTW I LUV UR WRITING SM 🫶🏻
𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬
Tumblr media
𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 - okay, I freaking love Darry so much but I struggled so hard writing this. omg I also want to apologise bc I didn't realise how many mistakes were on my last post like I audibly gasped when I looked. anyway, hope ya'll enjoy this lmao!! asks are still open for requests - I'm done with exams for a few weeks so I can finally start working on things more!!
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 - 644 words
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 - none
Tumblr media
He is such a gentleman, omg, I can't even
If you need something done, this man will do it for you with no hesitation. You’re important to him, and he wants to make sure you know that.
He’s probably not overly affectionate unless you two are completely alone. Once the gang had caught you both cuddling on the couch, and they had teased him for weeks afterwards.
In public, he’ll hold your hand and give you the occasional kiss, but nothing too extreme. He likes to keep your moments together private; they mean a lot to him, and he’s not just going to give the people around you the pleasure of seeing him so vulnerable.
At night, he’ll definitely hold you close while you two sleep.
He’s like a furnace, so who needs blankets when you’ve got Darry to keep you warm?
Arguments don’t happen often between the two of you, but when they do, they’re usually pretty bad. Give him a few hours to cool off, and then he’ll be holding you from behind and mumbling muffled apologies into your ear as he peppers your neck with small kisses.
Lots of massages and baths together. He works a lot, and his muscles are almost always tense, so having that time to relax and wind down with you is just what he needs.
He’s not the overly jealous type. Sure, if he thinks someone is getting a little too friendly with you, he’ll come up and try to take you away from them, but he isn’t going to stop you from interacting with someone completely just because he can’t control himself.
Date nights aren’t very common. In between work and taking care of his brothers, Darry doesn’t get much free time, but when he does, you best believe he is spending it with you, showing you how much he loves and appreciates you.
He’ll take you to dinner or for a drive in his truck just to get away from the house for a little while.
Sitting in his lap while he reads the paper!!
The gang, mainly Dallas and Two-Bit, refers to you as “mom and dad,” and it honestly drives you both insane.
“Look, I’m just sayin’, you’ve got that whole ‘nurturing, responsible, and slightly annoyed at my antics’ vibe going on.” “Well, if you keep up with those antics, you might find yourself sleeping outside for the night.” “Oh, come on, mom, you wouldn’t do that to your favourite child, would you?” “For the last time, Dallas, you are not my child. And if you were, you certainly wouldn’t be my favourite.”
Sodapop and Ponyboy love you. Like they love you. They will cling to you the second they meet you, and you’ll never be able to get rid of them.
I’m not even going to pretend he doesn’t have a picture of you in his wallet. He does, and he’s proud of it.
WEARING HIS SHIRTS!!!!
Constantly complimenting each other. Not a day will go by where he hasn’t complimented you at least ten times. He just needs you to know how perfect you are.
You stopped him from yelling at Ponyboy so much.
When you first brought it up, you definitely argued for a little while about the subject. He just wants what's best for his brother, and you telling him that he needs to lay off is probably going to spark something defensive within him.
He doesn't say ‘I love you’ very often, usually whispering it late into the night or early in the morning when you two are laying in bed and tangled with each other, but he always ensures that you know how much he cares and appreciates you.
Needless to say, Darry will not let you go away feeling unloved.

Tumblr media
It wasn’t that cold when you and Dallas left your shared apartment for the evening. After nagging and bothering you for what felt like hours Dallas had finally won, he was getting you to go to the annual start of summer bonfire. A tried-and-true greaser tradition. It wasn’t really your scene, most of the time. But at the mention that Darrel Curtis was going to be there you’d changed your tune rather quickly. Dallas knew of your little crush on the eldest Curtis brother. Because of course he did. He wasn’t dumb. Quite the opposite really. He caught your longing glances for Darry pretty early on. Your cute crush only got slightly concerning for Dally when he started noticing Darry throwing the same looks your way.
Dallas might’ve used Darry as the excuse to get you out of the house. See, Dallas had never taken school seriously, but you always have. He was worried you were spending far too much of your limited time studying or doing homework instead of being an actual teenager.
As you and Dallas strolled through the dimly lit streets toward the outskirts of town where the bonfire was blazing, you couldn't shake the feeling of nervous excitement that ripped through your body. Dallas, your favorite charismatic troublemaker, seemed to sense your nerves and threw an arm around your shoulder, giving you a rough but reassuring squeeze.
"So, kid sister, what's got you all wound up tonight, huh?" Dallas smirked. His eyes gleaming mischievously in the faint glow of the streetlights.
You shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Nothing, just looking forward to hanging out with the guys, I guess. Haven’t seen them in a while is all."
Dallas shot you a knowing look, his eyebrows raised in amusement. "Uh-huh, the guys sure thing. Are you sure it’s not one guy? Don't think I haven't noticed those puppy-dog eyes you've been throwing at Darry lately." He had a habit of calling you out on your bullshit, even if it made you uncomfortable.
Your cheeks flushed at that comment. You stuttered in protest, but Dallas just laughed, his voice rumbling with amusement. "Relax, kid, ain't no crime in having a crush. But who knows, maybe tonight's the night you finally make a move." He winked knowing that was a load of crap. You’d never make a move on Darry, wouldn’t even dream of it. In his eyes you were Dallas’ baby sister. He could never see you like that.
You rolled your eyes, though you couldn't deny the flutter of excitement that bubbled in your chest at the mere thought of it. Darrel Curtis was everything you found attractive in a man - strong, dependable, and with a heart of gold hidden beneath his tough exterior. The idea that he might feel even a fraction of what you felt for him sent your pulse racing. But you knew better, knew better than to get your hopes up.
The two of you approached the bonfire, the familiar sight of your friends greeted you. The air was thick with the smell of smoke and the sound of laughter, with the occasional burst of music from someone's battered radio. It felt like home. You and Dallas had finally found it after years of moving and running.
Dallas led you through the throngs of people, his boisterous laughter mingling with the chatter of the others. Until you finally caught sight of Darry standing by himself next to the fire. His gaze was fixed on you with an intensity that made your heart skip a few beats. You swallowed hard, suddenly feeling acutely aware of every movement, every breath. Dallas nudged you playfully with his elbow, a knowing smirk playing on his lips as he gave you a not-so-subtle wink before sauntering off to join the other greasers.
Taking a deep breath to steady your nerves, you squared your shoulders and made your way over to where Darry stood, his eyes never leaving yours. And as you drew closer, the crackle of the fire seemed to fade away, leaving only the pounding of your heart echoing in your ears, “Hi.” You smiled up at him once you got within ear shot.
He smiled right back at you. His annoyed face melted away once you got close. “Didn’t think we’d see you tonight. What a treat.” He smirked loving the little game the two of you shared when it was just the two of you. He wasn’t sure when it happened, but he had developed a not so innocent crush on you. Dallas Winston’s little sister. Probably the worst girl to have a crush on. But how could he not? You stepped up and helped him in ways he could’ve never imagined after his parents passed. You pulled Pony and Soda along right with you instead of letting them drown in grief. You were an angel. His angel.
Despite the lively atmosphere, you couldn’t shake off the chill that seeped into your bones. You cursed yourself for forgetting your jacket, but with the comforting heat of the fire so close, you hadn't noticed the cold until now. Darry glanced down at you once you were standing next to him, sensing your discomfort. "Are ya’ cold, Y/N?"
You nodded, teeth chattering slightly. "Yeah, just a bit."
Without a word, Darry shrugged off the leather jacket he had on. "Here," he said, draping it over your shoulders. "You shouldn't be freezing out here." While it fit him it was about three sizes too large for you. Not that you minded.
You blinked in surprise as Darry's jacket enveloped you, radiating warmth and carrying his distinct scent. Grateful, you offered him a small smile. "Thanks, Darry."
He nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Anytime, Y/N. Don't want you catching a cold."
As the night wore on, you huddled closer to the fire, Darry's jacket shielding you from the biting cold. Despite the flames eventually dying down and the group dispersing, the memory of Darry's protective gesture lingered, a comforting presence in the darkness of the night.
In the dim light, you caught Darry's eye and offered him a silent expression of gratitude. He returned it with a nod, silently promising to always look out for you. Feeling a warmth not just from the jacket but also from his concern, you find yourself drawn to him. "Thanks again, Darry. Dallas rushed me out of the apartment. You know I’m not usually so forgetful." you say softly, your voice carrying a hint of flirtation you can't quite suppress.
Darry's lips quirk up in a half-smile, his eyes holding a glint of amusement. "No problem, Y/N," he replies, his voice low and gravelly. "I’m sure it’s not easy being Dally’s sister."
You chuckle at his teasing tone, enjoying the banter that flowed so effortless between the two of you. "You could say that again. Guess I owe you one though," you say playfully, nudging him with your elbow.
Darry's smile widens, and he leans in a little closer, the warmth of his presence sending a shiver down your spine for an entirely different reason. "Oh, I'll be sure to collect on that debt," he murmurs, his gaze intense yet tender.
Your heart nearly stops at his words, and you find yourself blushing despite the chill in the air. Maybe forgetting your jacket wasn't such a bad thing after all.
Just as you're about to respond to Darry's playful banter, a familiar voice interrupted you from behind. "Well, well, what do we have here? Little sis all blushy-cheeked and heart eyes on our very own Darrel Curtis?" Dallas's voice carries a teasing edge, his smirk evident even in the dim light. He knew how much you not so secretly liked the oldest Curtis brother. You may not have said anything to him, but it was evident in the way you looked at him. Dallas knew eyes couldn’t hide much. That’s how he also knew the oldest Curtis brother felt the same about you. So, he did what any older brother would do, tease the shit out of the both of you.
You turn to see Dallas walking over, his usual cocky demeanor in full force. But something about the way he looks at you, a mixture of amusement and something else you can't quite place, makes you more nervous than ever. Darry stiffens slightly beside you, his protective instincts kicking into overdrive. His jaw clenches, and you notice a subtle tension in his shoulders.
"Easy there, Darry," Dallas continues, his grin widening. "I'm just messing with my kid sister. No need to get all uptight Curtis." He had a full-on grin now not realizing the damage he was causing between the blooming relationship that had yet to begin.
You shoot Dallas a playful glare, hoping to diffuse the situation. "Ignore him, Darry. He's just being annoying, as usual." You turned back to the man standing beside you, closer than you remember from just moments ago.
But Darry's gaze remains fixed on Dallas, a silent warning in his eyes. "Nothing’s happened Dallas.” The joyful tone in his voice from moments ago had vanished sending you into a minor panic as the two most important men in your life stood there staring at each other.
Dallas raises his hands in mock surrender, his smirk faltering ever so slightly. "Alright, alright, no need to get all serious," he says, taking a step back. "I'll leave you two alone. Doing whatever you were doing.”
As Dallas walks away, you feel a pang of disappointment wash over you knowing that something was suddenly amiss. You glance at Darry, hoping to see his usual warmth and playfulness, but instead, you find him distant, his gaze fixed on the ground. He was thinking and thinking hard at that.
"Hey, everything okay?" you ask, reaching out to touch his arm.
When he pulled away from you sharply you tried to hide the disappointment evident in your gaze on him. Darry looks up, his expression guarded. "I’m sorry. I just... I can't do this. Not with Dallas being your brother," he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper.
Your heart sank as Darry's words hit you like a punch to the gut. You had hoped that maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for something more between the two of you. But now, faced with his rejection, you felt a wave of embarrassment and hurt wash over you. You tried to hide the sting of tears threatening to spill from your eyes, forcing a weak smile as you withdrew his jacket from your shoulders. "I understand," you replied softly, trying to keep your voice steady despite the ache in your chest. "It's okay, Darry. I-I didn't mean to make things awkward." You handed him the too big leather jacket back. You didn’t miss the disappointed look in his eyes as he took it back from you.
But before Darry could respond, you turned on your heel and began to walk away, the weight of his rejection heavy on your shoulders. You could feel the eyes of the other greasers on you as you made your way through the crowd, their whispers echoing in your ears like a cruel reminder of your own vulnerability.  You were halfway down the street when you felt a hand on your shoulder, stopping you in your tracks. Startled, you turned to find Dallas standing there, his expression unusually serious. "Y/N, wait," he said, his voice soft yet urgent. "What happened back there?"
You tried to brush off his concern, plastering on a fake smile. "It's nothing, Dallas. Just a misunderstanding, that's all."
But Dallas wasn't buying it, his gaze piercing through your facade. "Bullshit," he said bluntly. "I saw the way Darry was looking at you. And I saw the way you looked at him." He grabbed your arm, stopping you in your tracks.
You felt the tears welling up in your eyes once again, unable to hold them back any longer. The floodgates opened, and all the pent-up emotions came pouring out, overwhelming you with their intensity. Dallas's grip on your arm softened, his expression shifting from skepticism to concern as he watched the tears stream down your cheeks.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" he asked gently, his voice laced with worry. “What happened?"
You took a shaky breath, trying to compose yourself enough to speak. "It's Darry," you confessed, your voice trembling with emotion. "He doesn’t want me because... because he's worried about what you'll think or something."
Dallas's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, his grip on your arm tightening ever so slightly. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.
You swallowed hard, mustering the courage to explain. "I don’t know. It was fine then it wasn’t," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. "You were teasing us, and he... he thinks you don't approve. I don’t know Dallas he didn’t give me a reason. Just said he couldn’t do it."
Dallas's eyes widened in realization, a mixture of guilt and frustration flashing across his features. "Shit," he muttered under his breath, running a hand through his hair in agitation. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I was just messing around, you know?"
You nodded, feeling a pang of sympathy for Dallas's distress. "I know, Dallas," you said softly, reaching out to touch his arm. "But sometimes things don't turn out the way we expect them to."
Dallas's shoulders sagged as he let out a heavy sigh, his usual cocky demeanor replaced by an air of vulnerability. "I'm sorry, Y/N," he said sincerely, his voice thick with remorse. "I never meant to hurt you or Darry. You know that, right?"
You nodded, feeling a lump form in your throat as you fought to hold back the tears threatening to keep spilling from your eyes. "I know, Dal," you whispered, your voice choked with emotion.
Without hesitation, Dallas pulled you into a comforting brotherly hug, wrapping his arms around you and holding you close. You felt a sense of warmth and security wash over you, knowing that no matter what happened, you had Dallas by your side, always ready to support you through thick and thin.As you leaned into his embrace, Dallas's protective instincts kicked in, his mind buzzing with thoughts of how to fix the situation. But before he could voice his intentions, you pulled away slightly, a pleading look in your eyes.
"Dallas, please," you said softly, your voice tinged with embarrassment. "Don't do anything rash. I don't want things to get any more complicated than they already are."
Dallas's expression softened as he registered your plea, his gaze filled with concern. "I just can't stand the thought of Darry hurting you like this," he admitted, his voice laced with frustration. "He's being so damn thick-headed, and it makes me want to sock him one right in the jaw."
You shook your head, a firmness in your voice. "No, Dallas, no fighting with your brothers," you insisted, your tone leaving no room for argument. "We'll figure this out without anyone throwing punches. Let's just leave it be for now, okay? I don't want anything to happen when everyone is emotional."
Dallas hesitated, his jaw tense with the effort of restraining himself. But as he looked into your eyes, seeing the conviction in them, he relented. "Alright, Y/N," he conceded, his voice quieter now, but still edged with frustration. "We'll do it your way. But I swear, if he keeps hurting you, I won't be able to hold back."
You gave him a grateful smile, appreciating his loyalty but relieved that he agreed to your terms. "Thank you, Dallas," you said, reaching out to squeeze his hand. "For respecting my wishes."
Dallas nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Always, kid," he replied, his voice softening with affection. "Now, let's go inside and take a breather. We'll figure out our next move when we're all thinking straight."
As you followed Dallas into the apartment, a sense of relief washed over you, grateful for his support and understanding. Exhaustion weighed heavily on your shoulders, and you couldn't fight the urge to collapse onto the couch, the events of the evening catching up with you all at once.
Dallas lingered nearby for a moment, watching over you with a protective gaze. He hesitated, torn between staying by your side and his burning desire to confront Darry. Eventually, with a heavy sigh, he made his decision.
Quietly, Dallas slipped out of the apartment once you were fast asleep on the couch, leaving you to rest, and made his way towards the Curtis house. Determination fueled his steps as he navigated the dimly lit streets, his mind focused on one goal: to talk some sense into Darry.
When he finally reached the Curtis house, he didn't bother with niceties. Instead, he pounded on the door with a forceful urgency, his knuckles rapping against the wood in a demanding rhythm. Soda was the one to answer the door, his expression shifting from surprise to concern as he took in Dallas's agitated demeanor. "Dallas? What's going on, man?"
But Dallas didn't waste any time with explanations. Without a word, he brushed past Soda, his eyes scanning the living room in search of Darry. He didn't care about being polite or waiting for an invitation. All he cared about was finding the one who made his sister cry. Soda called after him, his voice tinged with confusion and concern, but Dallas paid him no mind. His focus was singular, his determination unwavering as he sought out Darry, ready to have a long-overdue conversation that would hopefully set things right.
Dallas's footsteps echoed loudly as he made his way towards the backyard, his heart pounding with a mixture of anger and concern. He found Darry leaning against the wall, a cigarette dangling from his lips, while Ponyboy sat nearby, a troubled expression on his face. Without preamble, Dallas stormed over to Darry, his eyes blazing with intensity. "What the hell is wrong with you, Darry?" he demanded, his voice thick with emotion. "You made my sister cry, and for what? Because you're too damn stubborn to see what's right in front of you?"
Darry looked up, startled by Dallas's sudden outburst. "Dallas, what are you talking about?" he asked, confusion evident in his tone.
Ponyboy, sensing the tension in the air, glanced nervously between his older brother and what felt like his second one. "Guys, what's going on?" he asked tentatively, his brow furrowing with concern.
"What's going on is that Darry's being a complete idiot," Dallas snapped, his frustration boiling over. "He's too blind to see that Y/N cares about him, and he's pushing her away because of it."
Darry's expression softened, his defenses crumbling under Dallas's relentless barrage. "Dallas, it's not that simple," he protested weakly, but Dallas wasn't having any of it.
"Not that simple?" Dallas echoed incredulously, his voice rising with every word. "You think you're doing her a favor by pushing her away? You're just hurting her, Darry. And you're too damn stubborn to see it."
Ponyboy watched the exchange in silence, his eyes darting between the two brothers with a mixture of concern and apprehension. He knew better than to intervene when Dallas was in one of his moods. Finally, Darry let out a heavy sigh, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "I didn't mean to hurt her, Dallas," he admitted quietly, his voice tinged with regret. "I just... I don't know how to do this. I'm not good at this stuff."
Soda, who had been observing from the doorway, stepped forward with a smirk playing on his lips. "You got that right, Darry," he interjected, his tone teasing. "You're allergic to pretty girls."
Ponyboy couldn't help but chuckle at Soda's remark, a small smile breaking through the tension that hung in the air. Darry sighed, shaking his head at Soda's comment, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Thanks for the reminder, Soda," he said wryly, his voice tinged with self-deprecation. "But I guess I'll just have to figure it out."
Dallas leaned back against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest, a smirk playing on his lips as he listened to Ponyboy's words. "Yeah, she's got a heart of literal gold, man," he chimed in, nodding in agreement. "I've seen it. She's too kind for this world sometimes."
Ponyboy nodded fervently, his eyes reflecting admiration. "Absolutely. Remember that time when she stood up for Johnny when those guys were picking on him? She didn't even hesitate. Just marched right over there and gave them a piece of her mind."
Soda grinned, his eyes sparkling with fondness. "And she's always nice to everyone, even those stuck-up Socs who don't deserve it," he added, his voice full of admiration.
Darry sighed, running a hand through his hair. He couldn't help but smile at his brothers' words, despite himself. "Yeah, she's something else, that's for sure," he mused, a hint of pride creeping into his tone. "But sometimes, I worry she's too good for her own good."
The room fell into a thoughtful silence for a moment before Soda broke it with a chuckle. "Well, Darry, you might just have to deal with it," he teased, nudging his brother playfully. "After all, love's got its own way of figuring things out."
Darry rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress the small smile that tugged at his lips. "Yeah, you're right Soda," he conceded, his gaze drifting off into the distance as he thought about you. "I just hope I can keep up."
The brothers shared a knowing look, a silent understanding passing between them as they contemplated the impact you had made on their lives. Dallas leaned forward, his expression turning serious. "You know, Darry, you gotta give yourself some credit too," he said, his voice carrying a rare sincerity. "She sees something in you, man. She wouldn't stick around if she didn't believe in you."
Darry shifted uncomfortably, his gaze dropping to the floor. "I know, Dallas, but... I've messed up so many times," he admitted, his voice tinged with regret. "I've let her down more times than I can count."
Ponyboy reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Darry's shoulder. "Hey, we all make mistakes," he said softly, his eyes filled with empathy. "But what matters is how you learn from them."
Soda nodded in agreement, his expression serious. "You gotta show her, Darry," he chimed in, his voice firm. "You gotta show her that you're willing to do whatever it takes to make things right."
Darry sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. "I know, I know," he muttered, his voice heavy with guilt. "I just... I don't know if I'm capable of being the person she deserves."
Dallas shook his head, his eyes locking with Darry's. "You are, man," he insisted, his tone unwavering. "But you gotta start believing it yourself. You gotta start believing that you're worthy of her love."
The room fell into a contemplative silence as Darry let Dallas' words sink in. And as he sat there, surrounded by his brothers, he couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope stirring deep within him. Maybe, just maybe, he could find a way to make things right with you. Maybe there was still a chance for them after all.
Dallas let out a gruff laugh, a hint of his usual tough demeanor creeping back into his expression. "Alright, enough of this mushy crap," he declared, straightening up and running a hand through his hair. "I swear to God, if this gets back to her or you say some soft shit, I'll kick all your asses."
Ponyboy chuckled nervously, shooting a glance at Soda and Darry. "Got it, Dallas," he replied, trying to suppress a grin.
Soda raised his hands in mock surrender. "Hey, no worries, man," he said with a smirk. "Our lips are sealed."
Darry nodded in agreement, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Thanks, Dallas," he said sincerely, his eyes reflecting gratitude.
Dallas gave them all a nod before pushing himself off the wall. "Alright, I’m out out of here before I start feeling like I need to hug it out or something," he quipped, striding towards the door with his usual gate. He hoped you had stayed sleeping on the couch as he made his way back to your shared apartment.
Tumblr media
The next day, Darry found himself restless, pacing back and forth in his room as he wrestled with his overwhelming sense of guilt. Every step he took felt heavy, burdened by the weight of regret that had settled like a stone in his chest. He knew he had hurt you deeply, and the thought churned his stomach with unease. Despite his usual stoic demeanor, Darry couldn't shake off the nervous fluttering in his chest as he clutched the bouquet of flowers tightly in his hand.
Darry found himself seized by a sudden determination to make things right with you. He knew that a simple apology wouldn't be enough – he needed to show her just how much she meant to him. And that's when he remembered the little details about her that he cherished.
With a sense of purpose driving him forward, Darry made his way to a nearby flower shop. The bustling streets seemed to blur around him as he searched for the perfect bouquet, his mind focused solely on one thing: your beautiful smile that brightened his day. He rifled through the colorful array of blooms, his heart racing with anticipation as he sought out the flowers that would convey his heartfelt apology and adoration.
And then, amidst the vibrant sea of petals, he found them – sunflowers. They stood tall and proud, their golden faces turned towards the sun, just like Y/N's radiant spirit. Darry's heart swelled with certainty as he reached out to carefully select the most beautiful blooms, knowing that they would bring a ray of sunshine to your day.
But as he stood at the checkout counter, a sudden doubt crept into his mind. How did he know that sunflowers were her favorite? Had she ever mentioned it to him before, in passing? Or was it just a gut feeling, a subconscious knowledge born from the countless hours they had spent together? For a moment, Darry hesitated, his brow furrowing in uncertainty. But then he remembered the way your eyes had lit up the last time you had passed a house that was growing them, how you had exclaimed with delight at the sight. And in that moment, he knew – sunflowers were your favorite, and he was determined to make sure you knew just how much you meant to him.
As he made his way to your apartment, each footfall echoed with the rhythm of his racing heart. The short journey felt like an eternity, his mind filled with worry and doubt. What if you were still upset with him? What if you didn't want to see him? The uncertainty gnawed at him, threatening to consume him with fear. He couldn't bear the thought of facing your disappointment, knowing that he was the cause of your pain.
With trembling hands, Darry finally reached your doorstep. He took a moment to steady his nerves, drawing in a deep breath to calm the storm of emotions raging inside him. But no amount of preparation could ease the knot of anxiety tightening in his chest as he raised his hand to knock on the door. Each rap of his knuckles felt like a thunderclap, reverberating through the silence of the neighborhood, and echoing the tumultuous turmoil in his own heart.
For a fleeting moment, Darry hesitated, his hand hovering uncertainly in the air. He couldn't help but worry that you would be furious with him, that you would turn him away without a second thought. The thought made his pulse quicken with apprehension, his palms growing slick with sweat as he grappled with his fear of rejection. But deep down, he knew he couldn't let his fear hold him back. He had to face you, to confront the consequences of his actions and make amends for the pain he had caused. With a silent prayer on his lips, Darry squared his shoulders and knocked once more, steeling himself for whatever lay ahead.
As the door swung open, revealing your surprised expression, Darry felt his heart almost stop. He could see the shock flicker across your features as you took in the sight of him standing there, a bouquet of sunflowers clutched tightly in his hand. But then, to his relief, your expression softened, your eyes lighting up with warmth and affection.
"Darry?" Your voice was soft, filled with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. "What are you doing here?"
Darry swallowed hard. His throat suddenly dry. He extended the bouquet towards her, his hand trembling ever so slightly. "For you," he managed to choke out, his voice barely above a whisper.
A smile spread across your face, brightening his mood with its warmth. "These are my favorite! How did you know?" you exclaimed, your eyes sparkling with delight as you reached out to accept the flowers. You pushed the door open letting him in as your searched for a vase for your sunflowers.
Darry felt a weightlifting off his shoulders at your reaction, a sense of relief flooding through him. Maybe he hadn't completely messed things up after all. "Just a lucky guess," he replied with a shy grin, though deep down, he knew it was more than just luck. He had been paying attention, learning the little things that made you happy, and he was determined to make it up to her.
Darry watched as your smile grew wider, and he couldn't help but feel a rush of happiness seeing you so pleased with the flowers. "I'm glad you like them," he said, his voice soft with sincerity.
You wrapped your arms around him in a spontaneous hug, and Darry felt his heart swell with warmth at the gesture. "Thank you, Darry," you whispered, your voice filled with genuine gratitude.
The embrace felt like a balm to Darry's soul, soothing the lingering doubts and fears that had plagued him since last night. But as he held you close, he knew there was still something he needed to address, something he couldn't ignore any longer.
"I need to apologize, Y/N," Darry began, his voice tinged with regret. "I was a jerk last night at the bonfire. I shouldn't have dismissed you like that."
You pulled back slightly, looking up at him with a furrowed brow. "Darry, it's okay," you reassured him, though there was a hint of hurt in your eyes.
But Darry shook his head, his gaze earnest. "No, it's not okay," he insisted, his voice firm. "You deserved better than that, and I'm sorry for treating you like you didn't matter."
Your expression softened as you listened to Darry's heartfelt apology, and a sense of understanding washed over you. "I forgive you, Darry," you replied, reaching out to gently caress his cheek. "I know you didn't mean to hurt me."
Darry felt a wave of relief wash over him at your forgiveness, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he needed to make it up to you somehow, to show you just how much you meant to him. As he looked into your eyes, he could see the depth of your care and affection reflected back at him, and it filled him with a sense of gratitude. He realized in that moment just how lucky he was to have you in his life.
A mischievous glint sparked in Darry's eyes as he felt a surge of confidence coursing through him. "You know, since we're both feeling so forgiving and all," he began, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips, "how about I make it up to you by taking you on a proper date?"
Your eyes widened in surprise at his suggestion, a smile spreading across your face. "A date?" you echoed, a hint of excitement in your voice.
Darry nodded, his grin widening. "Yeah, a date," he confirmed, his tone filled with determination. "How about we go to that fancy restaurant downtown? The one with the candlelit tables and that amazing carbonara dish you love. I know it's your favorite."
A delighted laugh bubbled up from your lips at his suggestion, and Darry felt a surge of pride knowing that he had guessed right. "You remembered," you said, your voice filled with warmth.
Darry shrugged nonchalantly, though his heart swelled with satisfaction at your reaction. "Of course, I remembered," he replied with a wink, his flirtatious side coming out to play. "I pay attention to the important stuff. You're the important stuff."
And as you laughed and agreed to the date, Darry couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building within him. Maybe this was the start of something new, something wonderful – a chance to show you just how much you meant to him, and to make up for his past mistakes with little moments like these.

Can you do headcanons for what the guys and their SO do on their birthday (like if they have the same birthday as their SO, what do they do?)
A/N: i really liked writing this actually! it was surprisingly wholesome since i was crying watching the movie while writing this. i really need more angst asks 😭
Tags: Fluff, hcs, birthday, all the boys
Warnings: it does kind of hint at sexual activity (thanks for that dal) but there’s no detail or anything like that so it should be fine!

The boys on their S/O’s birthday
Tumblr media
Darry
Always the gentleman Dar would make sure you feel like the most important person in the world on your birthday.
Breakfast. In. Bed. Darry will make you the most extravagant breakfast with all your favourite foods and deliver it to you as soon as you wake up.
He’ll take the day off work (which is really rare for him!) just so the two of you can have fun and spend time together.
If he was planning a party he would let you know, just so you could tell him whether you wanted one or not
Ponyboy
He would be so cute omg-
He’d slip you a piece of paper during class telling you to meet him either in an empty classroom or under the bleachers at lunch that day. when you get there he will have made you a card and bought you a single cupcake. unless you go with my other hcs, in that case he would have gotten johnny to make cupcakes for you.
I don’t think that Pony would want to throw you a party. i think he would be more for hanging out in the vacant lot all night.
Ok hear me out- you two have been dating about a month and you’re just hanging out in the lot for your birthday. you two are talking and chatting when he realises he didn’t get you anything for your birthday. you try to tell him that it’s ok that you don’t need anything but he insists on giving you something so….BOOM first kiss right there!
Sodapop
Soda is just a tiny bit cruel so he’d probably pretend that he forgot your birthday as a joke.
You would go down to visit him in the DX and he’d be there like “i know i’m forgettin’ somethin’ bit i dunno what. is it Stevo’s birthday?”
He’d do this until you either got really upset or told him it was your birthday.
Once he revealed he didn’t forget he’d have a party planned for you and by god it would be a good party. He’d have your favourite foods, he would have rented out bucks and paid Tim Shepard or someone to act as a bouncer so nobody you didn’t like could get in.
This boy- he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off you all night. Kissing, holding your hand, hugging you from behind, simply having his hand around your waist/shoulders? he doesn’t care as long as you’re with him.
Dally
Dally wouldn’t be one to treat you special on your birthday. he’d go on like normal. it’s just how he is 🤷‍♂️
I think he’d say something like “it’s your birthday today, ain’t it?” and when you said yeah he’d just say something like “thought so” and walk away.
If he gets you a gift? i wouldn’t bet that it was acquired legally. but he still cares. he would most likely get you a new blade or something like that.
Even though on the day he wouldn’t be very attentive that night he’d get buck to close the bar early so you two could have some alone time. I’m thinking slow dancing in the bar alone. he’s a really bad dancer but he still tries. and i mean it’s dally we’re talking about so you probably know what would happen later that night…
Two-Bit
Your birthday to Two is just the perfect time for pranks, he doesn’t really know why, it just is. he would switch your orange juice for milk that he put orange food dye into, hide random things in your room, the basic pranks yk? maybe switch the fruit in your fruit bowl for that wax fruit.
He would be planning a surprise party in the Curtis’ place for like- a month before your birthday. it would be the best party ever. he’d even watch his drinking so you could have fun without having to babysit Two.
Exact same as soda, he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off you. though he’d probably be a little less wholesome, kinda like Dal.
He’d make some drunken toast at the party about how hot you are and how lucky he is to have you. he’s cringy like that plus he’s pissed drunk when he gives the roast so it’s not his fault
Steve
Steve doesn’t get as much appreciation as he should, he’s adorable! he wouldn’t be a gentleman like Darry but he wouldn’t be ignoring the fact it was your birthday like Dal. He would probably make some agreement that if you could win a challenge that on your birthday he couldn’t say no to you (with limits ofc. you couldn’t tell him to jump into freezing water cause you dropped a sandwich into it or you couldn’t tell him to kill someone yk? limits.) he’d probably let you win though tbh
So you’ve won this bet. now what? he’s your personal butler for the day! want coffee? ask Steve! need a hug? ask Steve! He would be at your beckon call at all times (that’s the saying right?)
He’d also plan you a party, just not a surprise party. He would have it in the lot since it has the most space so nobody will be cramped together.
Johnny
He would make you a present rather than buy one since he doesn’t have much money. i think that’s cuter and more thoughtful than anything else tbh.
He would want to hang out together all day. maybe you two would go to the drive in that night?
I don’t think parties are johnnies thing so he would plan that you and the rest of the boys have dinner in the Curtis’ and then if you wanted to go out he wouldn’t stop you.

Dunno if you’ve already done this and you don’t have to, but how about m!greaser casually giving the gang + Shepard siblings the ultimate princess treatment??
I’m talking like MAJOR princess treatment. Holding doors without asking, popping off beer caps, lighting cigs with his own lighter, bridal-carrying them away from a rumble when they’re hurt, etc etc. m!greaser isn’t even teasing abt it too, he’s genuinely just a whole ass gentleman
Of course anon!!! I love this request 🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️
Ponyboy Curtis
-he’s surprised whenever you start treating him like damn royalty
-honored but surprised
-he loves the treatment he gets from you
-he always makes sure to say thank you
-he loves leaning on your shoulder when you carry him back from getting hurt
-he reads you stories that you fall asleep to as a way of saying thanks
-the other greasers tease him so hard about it tho
-he would do the same things for you that you do for him (:
Johnny Cade
-wow
-he’s like so not used to people treating him with baseline kindness or respect
-so you goin get extra more to do these things
-to light his cigarette, always make sure he has a place to stay for the night, bridal carry him at the slightest injury
-he’s pretty grateful
-also gets pretty flustered whenever you do it
-always says a quiet, “thank you” with a tiny smile
Sodapop Curtis
-he’s often overlooked as the middle Curtis sibling
-and he’s really only used to people doing things for him
-well, because he’s pretty. He has pretty privilege and he knows that
-and whenever you do these things for him
-just because he’s sodapop
-it’s what makes him give you genuine grins
-not his fake, charming demeanor that he so often carries
-but a genuine smile is what you bring to his face when you do these things
-and he’ll kiss your cheek 😊
Darry Curtis
-he does the same thing tbh
-most gentlemanly out of all of them
-you two are so mutually so sweet to each other
-but it backfires sometimes because you both want to do the same nice things for each other
-probably the most stable couple
-I really ship yall personally
-you guys would spend like 45 minutes fighting over who pays the bill at dates though 💀💀
Dallas Winston
-the least gentlemanly
-bro just does not think about much other than his own surroundings
-💀💀
-but he would definitely smirk whenever you do those things for him
-“Well ain’t you a doll, y/n?”
-that’s kinda the most thanks you’ll get 💀
-deep down he’s grateful but it takes him MONTHS of dating for him to even mutter thanks
-would not let you carry him though
-his egos too heavy anyway 😔
Two Bit Mathews
-he’d make jokes
-it’s two bit what do you expect
-but like jokes of affection
-really cheesy
-If you lit his cigarette “Y’know what else you set on fire? My heart.”
-if you carried him “Givin’ me a preview of the wedding hm? I see you…”
-and ur like two bit you literally broke your ankle
-but he’s actually really grateful whenever you do those things for him
-🫶
Steve Randle
-he would act nonchalant about it
-but he would totally care
-and brag to Sodapop about you and all you do for him
-and would try to kind of pay you back by spending his free time always upgrading or working on your car
-but he still mutters thank you to you
-but shows his full gratitude in other ways
Tim Shepard
-he’s absolutely not used to this
-he’s pretty smug whenever you do it though
-and definitely shows you off for it
Curly Shepard
-he would definitely be smug in a similar way to him
-like heh yeah my baby treats me like a goddamn king
-he would kiss you in front of anyone every time you do something for him
Angela Shepard
-she’s so cute
-she’s so grateful because most of the guys she’s dated have been dicks to her
-and when you come along and treat her like a princess she wants to cry tbh
-she gives you so many hugs n kisses

Dating Darry HC’s
Tumblr media
•To date Darry, you’d have to be somewhat mature.
•Because he matured very quickly, to watch over his siblings.
•If you don't get along with his brothers— it's not gonna work out.
•But if you do— he's so happy.
•But anyways—
•He's a gentleman.
•He'll open doors for you, etc etc.
•He's protective but not overly to the point he's hovering.
•He knows you are responsible and can fight for yourself, but as soon as you show signs of needing his help he'll jump right in to help you.
•He doesn't always have time for you, because of all the responsibilities he holds, but you make sure to let him know that you understand.
•You even help around the house and with his brothers.
•Holding hands
•You hold hands a lot.
•he finds comfort in your hands when they're in his own.
•At home dates.
•it's a lot easier, and way cheaper.
•your ideal date is either an at home meal, with the house to yourself and maybe a little intimacy afterwards, or both of you cuddled up underneath blankets while watching TV. Just relaxing.
•That's both of your heavens.
•Rarely getting into fights because he knows how to communicate, and all the right questions to ask.
•If you're ever feeling down, he'll know.
•it's impossible to hide things from him.
•whether that was a good or bad thing— you couldn't tell.
•but he's always a shoulder to cry on.
•he may not understand what you're going through.
•or he might have the wrong reaction
•but it's just because he cares and he's not always sure what to do.
•his love language is most likely verbal affirmations.
•like "I love you" and "you look beautiful"
•he always says it with a smile on his face.
•he never fails to boost your self esteem.
•overall, he's a great boyfriend and he would definitely consider putting a ring on your finger if you loved each other enough.

Dating Dallas Winston hc's
Tumblr media
The first time you met him was at the Dingo
You caught him checking you out and asked if he needed something
He said yes and asked for your number
You gave it to him, acting like it was a joke but deep down you liked him
You texted each other almost every day before he asked you to be his girlfriend
Most of your "dates" are to the Dingo, the drive-in movie, or just walking around town
He can't stand fancy dinner or dancing dates
Most Friday nights he comes to your house and you cuddle up on the couch with him and watch a movie
He says he'll watch it because he knows you like movies, but he always falls asleep 15 minutes into it, so you just pull him closer and let him lean on you as he sleeps with his head on your shoulder
If he's still asleep by the time the movie is over you just drape a blanket over him and let him stay for the night while you go back to your room to sleep
He's always out of your house by the time you wake up though
You haven't told your parents that you're dating him and are honestly afraid to because of what they'll think
You've met all of his friends though
Ponyboy and Johnny love talking to you about all sorts of things
Sodapop is such a gentleman to you
Steve just follows along with whatever Soda does
Darry thinks you're a nice girl and is glad Dally found you
Two Bit always cracks jokes and is thrilled at how you actually laugh at all of them (even the dumb ones)
You're the first person Dally really feels comfortable sharing his feelings with
You help him through a lot of his feelings and he helps you through your feelings too
You honestly don't know what you'd do without him
He's afraid to admit it but he's not sure what he'd do without you either

heya birdies! here's a shorter hc piece! sorry i haven't posted much other than reblogging. it's hard to type well on my phone bc a keyboard on a computer helps the words flow better. once again, i lost an ask. will that ever not occur? probably not! anyway, here's another masterpiece of chaos for the outsiders! enjoy. (': - mae
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
How the Curtis Gang and Shepard Brothers Flirt Hc's:
Curly Shepard:
° He flirts by being mean to you because Curly's a little shit lmaoo! He's that guy that'll get under your skin so you talk to him. I'm pretty sure at first y'all couldn't stand each other.
° He tries to be smooth, but he's not the brainiest so the lines he practiced either sound corny or dirty ngl. He did get most of them from Tim or his gang members after all. Curly is a bit of a copycat in that sense, but he's original in some stupidity he pulls. He's actually incredibly funny, with a quirky sense of smoothness.
° Deffo tried flirting with you by propping his foot on a stool, missed and face planted lmaoo. You never let him live it down, but it got him a date with you because he made you laugh a lot. So in the end, Curly's stupidity and clumsiness won! (I say that affectionately ofc! We Stan Curly Shepard on this blog.)
° He thinks flirting is also doing something that he knows is gonna get him into trouble right in front of you. Curly's a bit of a show off, isn't he? Nevermind, there's entertainment at all times in your budding relationship. Curly doesn't like to be serious too often, so you'll be in for lots of fun and trouble making!
Dallas Winston:
° Omfg is he a bastard! Flirting with Dallas is one wild ass ride. The president of the, "I Like You So I'm Gonna Be Mean to You Club". The bigger the reaction you give him, the better. And boy will he get it because he genuinely does have a whole arsenal of things. He'll get dirty real fast, though that's more at the start.
° He's very touchy and will sling his arm around your shoulders, a hand in your back pocket… He shows interest. Dallas is not shy!
° His eyes fall to your lips, filled with mischief and interest. An absolute tease when he leans in just a little closer, and when you're ready to kiss him, he turns away smoothly at the last second. All just to rile you up because he likes 'em feisty!
° Dirty jokes galore! He's got incredibly smooth as hell pickup lines too. When he wants to be, he can make a good impression.
Darry Curtis:
° Darry is surprisingly smooth when he wants to be. People are stunned because they don't see it coming as it's not on display often. His grumpiness disappears, replaced by a cheerful charm and smoothed features. Not an ounce of stress on his face. He's inclined to laugh more. He's still got the charm! Oh and his smile is to die for!
° He's old school and very gentlemanly. He wants to make a good impression even if you've been married for decades! Darry enjoys taking care of the one he's interested in. That'll never go away, so flirting can almost come in the form of checking up on you too.
° Darry pulls out all of the romantic stops that he can. Expect lots of flowers and stuff - Soda had to help him arrange it all because he's so damn busy, but his intentions were definitely there. No one can deny that. He even gave Sodapop strict orders, otherwise he'd have beaten the tar outta him because Soda gets distracted easily. (Obviously that last bit isn't me being totally serious.)
° Lots of eye contact and smiling. He's got a beautiful smile - and yes, I know I mentioned that again. Darry shows interest through looking into your eyes, having a gentle arm around your shoulders and just being the gentleman that he is.
Johnny Cade:
° He's clumsy and it can be insanely challenging to pick up when he's flirting. However, he has more colour to his face than what's normal. He's a glowing tomato!
° Johnny is genuinely interested and will say the most sincere compliments to you when he's worked up the courage to do so. I feel he would stammer a lot, but he means what he says. You can tell, and it makes you have an explosion of butterflies in your belly.
° Pda isn't his thing really. Touch in of itself can be challenging to experience, but he does try to hold your hand out in public. He always sticks by you the closest, so much so that you can practically feel his body heat. Don't take offense to this, he's way more affectionate when it's just you two. It's just that all these curious eyes on you both freaks him out.
° He goes out of his way to help you with things, even if he's not really good at it. It's his way of showing you he cares about you. Johnny wants to feel like he's worth something, and how he does this is by getting his hands a little dirty for you. It leads to a lot of wholesome or even funny moments. The more he does this without you protesting, the more comfortable he gets around you.
Ponyboy Curtis:
° He's clumsy too in his approach. He blushes sm but he tries to be flirty. He fails, but not without you giggling. He gets real mopey, but adores your sudden affection. Pony is just embarrassed.
° He's kind, helping you with any of your school work as he enjoys spending time with you. Gets all dreamy eyed when you're there, and you'll catch him daydreaming - even when you're talking. He just sorta gets lost, guys. Earth to Pony!
° Compliments you sincerely and smiles a lot more. Suggests that you guys go see a movie together. This is a huge step, because as we know, Ponyboy doesn't like watching movies with other people. However, he feels comfortable with you, knowing you won't intrude in his mental space by gratingly talking through said movie.
° Ponyboy shares things with you that he never shares with anyone like movies, books, sunsets, etc. If he's talking passionately about something to you then it's a good sign. He loves listening to your passions too. He can wrap his head around a lot of different topics all at once. All I can see now is Ponyboy just swooning over you silently with a whimsical sigh as you chat about your latest interest. Absolutely wholesome!
Sodapop Curtis:
° Sodapop flirts to the max with you! He makes it very obvious that he's into you whilst also remaining cool and smooth. He's got a knack for sweeping you off your feet, it feels like you're in a romance movie!
° Sometimes it can be challenging to see when he's interested or just flirting for the fun of it. The lines can be blurred because of how friendly he is. Yet do not let that deter you. When Sodapop is seriously interested, you can tell with the sparkle in those gorgeous, dreamy eyes of his.
° He gets your number with a smooth pick up line! He's also touchy since his love language is touch. Not inappropriately of course, but what you're comfortable with: Holding hands, his hand in your back pocket, an arm over your shoulder, etc. Sodapop is drawn to you like a fly is drawn to honey, but not obsessively. He knows the balance and picks up quickly what you are and aren't comfortable with.
° Asks you out or takes you to a party. His entire attention is on you. He wants to show people how much fun y'all are having. Sodapop is very direct, but he can also be coy. He likes a bit of a chase, but he carries himself with sweet gestures, yet flirtatious advances. He knows how to have you swooning over him in seconds.
Steve Randle:
° Oh boy, you're not prepared for Steve Randle. He's smooth asf and that wise cracking attitude either grates on your last nerves or makes you think he's slick enough to date. There's no in between, but whether you hate him or not at first, it doesn't matter, he somehow gets you to be fond of him soon.
° Soda is his wingman for sure, helping him feel better about himself. He gasses him up to you, which makes him feel less nervous about asking you out. He wants to make a good impression. Besides, Sodapop helps ease your nerves too! The bridge that causes you both to meet.
° Steve is more physical. He likes to have a hand on you at all times. He isn't shy at all, but he tows the line of respect very well. Only gets more dirty if you're into that kinda thing lmaoo.
° He's the type to wink at you and shit lol. It's actually not embarrassing or cheesy at all. Sometimes you'll look up from across the room at a party and he's half listening to Soda while he's getting your drinks. You catch him looking at you with those pretty blue eyes and he just winks in a way that makes your heart throb. You have to look away. It only makes him approach you, whispering, "Whatchu hidin' those pretty eyes from me for?" right into your ear as he hands you your drink.
Tim Shepard:
° He fights Dallas for the presidential spot of the "I Like You So I'm Gonna Be Mean to You Club" lmaoo. However he has a lot of charm. His handsomeness also helps. He's a ladies man after all! Tim is swooned after by many women, but he's got his eyes set on you.
° Once again, physical touch and flirty comments galore! It's the one time Tim is the most talkative. He is adventurous, pulling you in tow. He's eager on the inside, but smooth and mysterious on the outside. Everything you say and do he notices, he just might not make it apparent.
° Really observant so he knows quite quickly how to get you into his good graces. It's like a gift he has. He also is the type to tease you a little mercilessly when you've done something cute or whatever. He can't help it. Any excuse to get you even a little embarrassed without outright humiliating you gets a kick out of him. He enjoys it when you smack him playfully on the arm when he's made a dirty joke, because you're relaxed.
° Tim is the type to walk or drive you home. It's sort of sweet, but he just says he's going in that direction anyway lol. He usually isn't. He's a protective boyfriend, and wouldn't be able to forgive himself if he let you run off on your own and you got jumped. He's adamant about it too, and when he can't, he gets someone he trusts from his gang to walk you home.
Two-bit Matthews:
° Two does what he does best, which is to make you laugh. He loves to see and hear you smile and laugh. Bonus points if you're crying and wheezing! He enjoys someone that can have easy banter with. So the more that you poke fun back at him, the more he's gonna be into you.
° He's such a dork with his cheesy pickup lines. He has no shame, people! Two has the corniest jokes and lines, they make you roll your eyes and shake your head. He's so much fun to be around, because one moment you could be talking, the next you're swing dancing like no tomorrow! Absolute chaotic spontaneity.
° Puts up the charm, loving how you keep up with him. He's witty and likes witty people too! Two enjoys your sense of humour - even if it's a little quirky. He can do quirky without any trouble, just be warned he's got a dirty mouth, especially when drunk. So dirty jokes are definitely on the menu.
° Physically affectionate to the point where he may not get that he's going a bit overboard. He's not out to make you uncomfortable, but being boozed up all the time and not taking things so seriously can get in the way. But nothing funny I promise. Besides, I think Two-bit just likes to be around you so much anyway.

The Insiders Chapter 15: Meeting Mrs. Bellows- Darry Curtis x Ruth Bellows
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2.2k
Tumblr media
April 22, 1965
“Good morning,” Darry greeted as Ruth appeared in the kitchen, still rubbing the sleep from her eyes. While she had only just woken up, he had been awake for a while preparing soup they were going to take to her mother, Mrs. Bellows.
“Morning,” was the girl’s only response as she walked over to him, pressing a kiss to his cheek and earning a smile from her boyfriend.
“How’d you sleep?”
“Amazing. I missed waking up to you, though,” she jokingly pouted at him, which made him laugh.
“I’m sorry, darlin’,” he muttered amusedly, kissing the top of her head afterwards. The girl merely waved him off as she made her way to the coffee pot.
“Want some coffee?”
“That would be swell,” nodded Darry as he covered the soup with a lid. While she got started on that he took a seat at the table, wanting to rest his feet. After walking over with two mugs in Ruth’s hands she placed one in front of him then sat across from him. When the man sighed her brows furrowed in concern.
“Is everything okay?”
“Just tired,” Darry responded simply.
“Why don’t we wait until tomorrow to see my mother then?” She suggested gently.
“No no, I want to, I’m just waking up, you know?” The girl nodded with a small smile while Darry finished his coffee. At that very moment Ponyboy and Piper walked into the kitchen. Darry spotted them first, then smirked.
“Good morning you two.” There was an almost teasing lilt to his voice that made the poor girl blush.
“Hi- Good morning…”
“Morning,” Ponyboy mumbled shyly.
“Don’t tease them,” Ruth reprimanded Darry, though there was a small smile on her face.
“Alright, alright,” he joked before facing Piper again. “Welcome.” Piper physically relaxed at that and she thanked him as Ponyboy walked over to the stove to make the both of them some food. Ruth, meanwhile, decided she couldn’t help but get her own little bit of teasing in there.
“Well, not so secret anymore, huh?”
“Secret?” Darry repeated amusedly before facing his brother. “Ponyboy?” While the younger boy blushed deeply and looked down at the pan he was cooking in, Piper attempted to sugarcoat it.
“I wouldn’t say it was a secret,” she tried, making Ruth snort into her mug.
“You did yesterday.” That only made Darry laugh again.
“Shut up Dar,” Ponyboy grumbled quietly.
“Secrets are not allowed in this house, Ponyboy,” he scolded lightly. Piper laughed nervously.
“I mean- it’s only been a few days…” Before she could say anything else Ponyboy grabbed her hand and led her to his bedroom to eat. Ruth giggled as she finished her coffee and stood, patting Darry’s shoulder as she passed him to get to the kitchen. The man merely smiled and shook his head before standing.
“I’m gonna get ready,” he informed her, earning a nod from her.
“Alright.”
“What should I wear? What would your mom want?” Ruth shrugged at that.
“Just wear something nice but comfortable. She won’t care.” With that confirmation he finally walked to his room. The woman plopped down on the couch to wait for him, though she thankfully didn’t need to wait long before Darry walked out. She had to stop herself from ogling at his nice button down and slacks. It was so different from what she was used to seeing him in, but it wasn’t an unwelcome change.
“How’s this?” Darry asked, trying to suppress his nerves.
“Hot,” she joked without missing a beat.
“Oh gee. Maybe I should change then,” he teased back.
“Nooooo,” she whined, leaning back on the couch, making the man laugh.
“Ready to go?” Ruth nodded and stood up, adjusting her clothes as Darry grabbed the pot of soup and his keys. As usual, he both held the door open for her and opened the passenger side door of the truck.
“A gentleman as always,” Ruth teased lightly as she climbed in.
“You know me,” the man merely teased in response before closing her door and rounding the vehicle to set the soup in the back seat before hopping into the driver’s seat.
“You remember the way right?” She inquired, earning a nod from Darry.
“I do, I remember your dad used to drive me to your house after work for dinner and paperwork.” His response made Ruth laugh softly.
“Oh yeah, how could I forget?” Darry shook his head with a fond sort of smile.
“Gee, we were so young…” he trailed off. “So young, we were like Ponyboys age.”
“I almost miss those days,” the woman sighed happily at the memories that flooded her mind of when they were younger.
“I miss your pops a lot, I do,” Darry muttered, looking at her. “I miss being young and having so much to learn.”
“Me too,” she agreed. “I miss when all I had to worry about was cheer practice and impressing the football team with the girls in the process.”  That earned another laugh from the man beside her.
“You were quite the beauty,” he said, pulling up to her house. “And I was quite the beast.” Ruth shook her head amusedly.
“If that’s how you wanna put it.”
“I do,” Darry reaffirmed as he got out, walking to her side to help her out. Ruth was the one to grab the soup once she was on the ground, and she didn’t miss the nervous look that crossed her boyfriend’s face.
“Hey, there’s no need to look so nervous Darry,” she reassured him, pushing some hair away from his face with her free hand. “It’s still just my mom.” Darry nodded then took a deep breath.
“I know, but I still want her to love me.”
“She does, don’t worry.” With that she kissed his cheek and led him inside. Ruth’s mom, Anne, was sitting in one of the lounge chairs in the living room reading, though she looked up when she heard the door.
“Oh, Darry!” She greeted happily as she stood.
“Anne!” Darry returned with the same enthusiasm and a charming smile. “Lovely to you again! You look phenomenal, the house looks amazing. I almost feel out of place now.” Anne laughed softly and lightly smacked his chest
“Oh, you flatter me Darrell. It’s been so long since you’ve been around, my daughter hasn’t been working you to the bone, has she?”
“Mom,” Ruth groaned out, sounding like a teenager who was being embarrassed by their parents. Anne and Darry ignored her, however.
“Of course she has, but anything for my favorite family.” He teased before gesturing to the soup pot in his girlfriend’s hands. “I brought you soup, Anne. I hope I didn’t come unannounced, I just wanted to make sure that you were doing well and catch up.”
“Oh you’re too sweet,” the older woman cooed as she took the soup. “Well please, make yourself at home while I warm this up.” With that, she headed to the kitchen while Darry took a seat on the couch. Ruth looked rather embarrassed, but she smiled at him nonetheless.
“As you can see, she hasn’t changed much.”
“She’s still a peach,” the man retorted with a laugh.
“One that’s past ripening” she grumbled, plopping on the couch.
“I heard that!” Anne called from the kitchen.
“Oh, don’t say that! Your mother is a wonderful, beautiful, gorgeous woman,” Darry retorted, also loud enough for Anne to hear.
“See?” The older woman called pointedly.
“Kiss ass,” Ruth muttered, making her boyfriend laugh at her as she crossed her arms.
“Can I help you with anything Anne?” He called, trying his best not to just crack up at Ruth’s behavior.
“Oh, no thank you dear! Would you like something to drink?”
“I’m alright, thank you.” Anne nodded as she walked back in.
“Should be warmed up in just a few minutes,” she informed the couple, sitting back down. The man nodded.
“How have you been?”
“As good as I can be,” the woman responded with a weak smile. “And yourself?”
“I’m alright, I’m raising the kiddos now- it’s a rollercoaster.”
“Believe me, I know how it is,” Anne sighed. “But you seem to be doing a wonderful job.”
“It takes a village…and I’m the village,” he joked. Anne giggled softly. It was a laugh she’d come to perfect while living amongst socs. By this point she knew when to laugh and how, though Ruth could tell this was still one of her more genuine laughs.
“And how are your brothers and sister doing?”
“They’re good, great, straight A kids, all of ‘em, and they’re just absolute peaches I’ll tell you.” He was lying to her, but she didn’t need to know that. He could almost see her disappointment if he told her that ⅔ of them don’t go to school almost at all. Ruth bit her lip to hold back a smile while Anne grinned obliviously at him
“Oh, that’s wonderful dear. Now, is it true about what I hear? Are you dating my little Ruthy?”
“True. True as day.” Darry nodded, pulling Ruth closer and giving her a look about the previous statement.
“Oh that’s so good to hear!” Anne exclaimed excitedly, clapping her hands “You know, Marco and I always knew that you two would end up together. In fact when you two were in-“
“Mama,” Ruth interrupted her quickly. “I believe your soup is ready.”
“No no, go on, I’m interested,” Darry added quickly, stifling a smile afterwards. Anne shot her daughter a warning glance, making her hide behind Darry, before smiling at him.
“Well when you two were in high school we actually had a bet with several people about when you two would get together. I actually owe them some money now.” The man, despite being surprised and even embarrassed about the admission, chuckled softly.
“My apologies, I should’ve made my move earlier, for your sake,” he joked.
“Nah, don’t worry about it. I’m happy nonetheless.”
“I’m glad you support us,” he said sweetly, holding Ruth’s hand. “I’m so lucky.” He and Ruth shared a smile.
“You remind me a lot of me and Marco when we were younger,” Anne sighed wistfully with a smile on her face, causing their gaze to break from each other. “I remember this exact scene playing out twenty five years ago, though I was in Ruth’s position.” Darry’s heart practically melted at that, and his expression softened.
“Well, I’m so flattered. I promise Ruth is in the best hands- as long as she’s nice to me, that is,” he joked at the end. Both women laughed at that.
“Good luck with that,” Anne joked as she stood. “Did either of you two want soup?”
“I made it all for you, Anne, knock yourself out.” The older woman all but squealed happily and walked back into the kitchen.
“Told ya she liked it,” Ruth muttered smugly from behind him.
“Good, I’m a people pleaser, you know.”
“Obviously,” she retorted dryly.
“Oh c’mon, your moms a good woman,” he responded, pushing her arm gently.
“That’s one way to put it.” Darry had no time to respond before Anne walked back in with a small bowl of soup and sat down.
“So Darrel, I suppose I have to be the one to have this conversation with you. What are your intentions with my daughter?” For the second time that night, Anne had managed to catch Darry by surprise, and he felt his cheeks heating up before he could stop it.
“Um-” he started, truly flustered for the first time in a long, long time. “ I uh- I intend for an honest, true relationship- um- she’s truly the most wonderful woman I know, I want to do everything I can to provide for Ruth and make her happy.”
Both Darry and Ruth were left in complete silence after he finished speaking. Instead they just stared intently at the woman in front of them, eagerly anticipating her response. Anne, meanwhile, pursed her lips in thought before finally nodding.
“You’re right, she is a wonderful woman, which means she needs someone as wonderful as her. Now you’re lucky that we’ve known you for as long as we have, and we know the kinda man you are. So, I’m going to be the one to give you the approval to continue seeing Ruth,” she said, which made Ruth sigh in relief. Darry copied her then smiled at the woman.
“You don’t understand how happy that makes me,” he muttered with a small laugh.
“Did you have any doubts about it?” Anne half joked.
“I was a little worried you would tell me I’m just a greaser and that I oughta look elsewhere,” the man admitted.
“I’m almost hurt that you think so little of our integrity,” she teased, making Darry blush yet again.
“I’m just used to it is all,” he shrugged with a small, awkward smile before deciding to change the subject. “Do you need any help around the house?” Anne shook her head.
“Oh no don’t worry about me. I may be old but I can take care of myself.”
“Oh Anne, stop, you don’t look a day over twenty,” he shot back with a smile. Anne laughed softly and shook her head.
“You flatter me too much, I might get a toothache with how sweet you’re being.”
“Kiss ass,” Ruth muttered in a sing song voice but only loud enough for him to hear, a stark contrast to her mother, which made Darry laugh.
“Just telling the truth.” Anne chuckled as she finished her soup.
“Well, it’s getting pretty late,” she said as she stood up, ready to walk the couple to the door. “I’m sure you must be going.” Goodbyes were rather quick between them and before they knew it they were back in Darry’s truck.
“See? That wasn’t so bad,” Ruth said, though she had also secretly been glad that everything had gone so well with her mother. Darry merely rolled his eyes and shook his head with a small smile.
“Yeah, yeah,” he responded dismissively as he pulled out of the driveway, more than ready to be home now that the night was over.

when you're ready, pls elaborate on raising a dog with Darry
A/N: First of all, I am so flattered to receive this ask because that means you little peoples out there are actually reading my stuff which really warms my heart! So thank you peoples! I love you all very much, I hope you enjoy this!
Tumblr media
For the ideal raising a dog experience with our favorite Darrel Shaynne Curtis, I suggest getting a bigger dog!
Doesn’t have to be one of those big ones that would eat you out of house and home, but I don’t think Darry would be all too pleased if you rolled up with a rat dog and asked him to let it live at his house
I’m talking about those dogs in like the 40-60 pound range?
They’re big enough to play with and big enough to hold their own, but they’re too big to be real lap dogs, no matter how hard they try
Like Darry with a Yorkie looks way off, just like Darry with a Great Dane does
And also? I feel like he’d really vibe with a mutt! The more breeds thrown in, the better!
All of the Curtis boys would really do well with a sort of hound dog in my head, but y’know, that’s not super important to this so we’re gonna move on to keep this headcanon set flowing!
Once you’ve got your dog, the naming is gonna be a whole fiasco
I’m torn between saying Darry will let you name it, just cause he’s a gentleman, but like at the same time, I can see him as the one who’s dead set on finding the perfect name for the puppy yapping at his feet
Sodapop and Ponyboy like to suggest random names, similar to their own, just to make the two of you roll your eyes, but I highly suggest picking one of them because what’s the fun in having a basic name for your dog?
Darry’s the kind of dog dad who would try and set all these rules up when you first get the dog, and then ultimately give up on enforcing them
Dog’s not allowed on the couch under any circumstances, Darry doesn’t want to clean up the dog hair off the cushions
You come home one day to find both of them on the couch watching a football game, Dog’s head resting on Darry’s thigh
Dog is not allowed in the bed either, he’s got his bed, Darry doesn’t want dog hair in the sheets, yada yada
When it’s cold, sometimes you can find Dog curled up on the food of the bed or tucked between the two of you guys <3
Darry feeds the dog in the morning, he’s the first one up (most likely) before he goes to work, so he’ll feed the dog
Random, but just imagine him taking the dog on walks and getting to go with him-
Like, the sun’s setting and dinner’s over, you’ve both got nothing to do but spend the night just hanging out together
He’s holding the leash with one hand, and holding your hand with the other and things are just calm and good and happy
Darry won’t admit it, but he’ll talk to the dog like it’s a baby
I’m talking full on cooing, admonishing, teasing, he treats that dog like he’s really your baby
Indulge yourself and think about Darry in the kitchen, holding a scrap of something while Dog sits at his feet, tail beating against the floor as Darry talks to him and waves the treat around
Cutest thing you’ve ever thought about in your life, huh?
He also teaches the dog how to play fetch so he can throw the football around some more
Darry likes to wing the ball across the lot just to see Dog go running after it, skidding across the grass and gravel as he chases the ball to retrieve it for Darry
Y’know what else? Darry has and still will kick Dallas off the couch so that Dog can have a seat
Dog definitely turns out to be a spoiled little somebody but it’s alright because every dog ends up a little spoiled, no matter what
Yeah! I think this is all the thoughts I have, but thank you so much for asking about this!

Klaine Advent 2021 - Day 23 - Company
Author: darriness
Word Count: 625
Summary: Christmas Eve #23
Author's Note: Only one more day! Merry Christmas Eve Eve! Also, the Canadian urge to use 'toque' in this chapter instead of 'beanie' was almost overpowering. I should get bonus points for resisting lol Enjoy!

“Look, Papa, it’s snowing!”
Kurt smiles at Matty’s exclamation as they exit the theatre. It is, in fact, snowing. It hadn’t been when they’d entered the theatre almost three hours ago, but it is now. It’s the pretty kind of snow that makes everything look magical and with the lights of Broadway sparkling and the hustle and bustle of theatre goers heading home, it’s truly a sight to see.
“Good thing we wore our boots.” Kurt comments as he makes sure Matty’s beanie is on correctly.
“How long until Dad is finished?” Lizzy asks, bouncing on her toes a little in an effort to keep warm.
Kurt pulls her to him and is surprised when she doesn’t protest. At twelve, public displays of affection are usually shunned, but he figures she’s cold enough to welcome the extra heat.
“Shouldn’t be long.” He says and he hopes he’s right.
This isn’t the first time Blaine’s been in a show that’s had a performance on Christmas Eve, but it is the first since their kids were born. Luckily though, it happened when their kids were old enough to attend the show. It made for a pretty memorable Christmas Eve, in Kurt’s opinion, especially when the entire company came out for the curtain call in Santa hats and sang ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ after the final bows.
Kurt usually doesn’t hang around after going to see Blaine perform. Blaine is one to ALWAYS want to do stage door and Kurt just doesn’t have the patience to wait the sometimes hours it can take for that whole process to finish (even waiting in Blaine’s dressing room gets boring). Kurt’s even less likely to wait after a performance if one or both of the kids attend with him. But it’s Christmas Eve and Blaine had assured him that even if there were people at the stage door tonight, he would not be participating.
Kurt looks toward the stage door now and he does see a few people hanging around, but not nearly as many as usual. It appears most people want to get home for Christmas Eve.
He and the kids wait a few minutes, watching as actors come out from the stage door. A couple stop to sign playbills for the few people waiting, but most hustle off with a simple smile and wave at the fans. A few of the actors, who recognize Kurt, wave and wish the waiting Anderson-Hummels a merry Christmas and Kurt and the kids respond in kind.
In the end, it’s no more than ten minutes before the stage door opens and it’s Blaine who walks down the steps. He adjusts his bag on his shoulder and smiles at the fans before his eyes are scanning the street. Kurt knows when he sees them because his smile gets bigger and his eyes light up, noticeable even from a distance.
Kurt watches as Blaine apologizes, ever the gentleman, to the waiting fans, gesturing to where Kurt and the kids are standing. The small group of fans collectively ‘aw’ at whatever Blaine said before his husband chuckles and jogs over to them.
“Hey guys!” He exclaims, catching Matty who jumps into his arms, “My favourite stage door attendees.”
Kurt smirks, pulling Blaine to him and kissing his cheek (still covered in the makeup Blaine didn’t take the time to wash off), “You were amazing.” He says.
Blaine’s face breaks into a pleased smile, even as he shrugs and rolls his eyes at the praise, “Thanks. Happy to be heading home though.”
“Shall we then?” Kurt asks, gesturing down the street.
“We shall.” Blaine says with a happy sigh and the Anderson-Hummels join the hustle and bustle on Broadway, making their way to the subway.

hi hi hi! Literally just read through all your Outsiders one shots and they're soooo good. Was hoping to request an idea I've had.
Can you do a Darry x Winston sister reader? Maybe she's Dallas's twin or like a year younger and he's just super protective over her. I was thinking maybe the two of them show up for a bonfire at the park with some greasers and reader forgets her jacket. She's shivering by the fire and Darry (ever the gentleman) gives her his jacket.
The two of them have always been dancing between friendship and something more but Darrel is hesitant bc Dally. Reader doesn't care and decides that she wants to be with him bc he's so sweet to her. Maybe Dally rejects her advances or something angsty and she leaves, without his jacket. Dally catches reader crying walking home and she just tries to play it off. Dally gets to the bottom of it, confronts Darry about it and just says, 'are you stupid or something? she's amazing..." and it ends in fluff after Darry realizing Dally wants them to be together bc he's such a good guy?
Sorry if its too detailed it's just been in my head. You're so good with hurt/comfort and angst to fluff. Thank you!
I LOVE this omg! I love that you guys are feeding me such amazing Outsiders requests!
You got it anon :)

Could I pls request Darry or Dallas (I don’t really mind who just pick whatever you think is best) trying to like win over a soc girl and she eventually agrees to go out with them
If that makes sense
xx
A/N: i did this in more of a HC format rather than a story format just so i could write something for both of them,
Darry Curtis/Dallas Winston x Soc!reader
———————————————————
Darry
Darry is a gentleman, he will try to win you over with romance and charm. i think he would try to befriend and get to know you before trying to pursue a romantic relationship. I think Darry has an unfair advantage in this situation (if it’s a competition between Dallas and Darry) since he could be a soc if he didn’t have the gang. He would go to your house looking respectable and he’d have flowers for you. He’d introduce himself to your parents and assure them that you’ll be home by nine, and by god he will be sticking to that. He’d be really nervous though, if Darrel Curtis goes after a girl, he really likes her and wants something serious. He can’t blow his chance with you by being disrespectful to your parents or not having you home by the time he promised to. He’d treat you well.
Dallas
Oh Dallas my poor boy. He picked you up at the nightly double most likely. maybe you two had a one night stand, maybe nothing like that happened. Either way, he’s head over heels for you. He’d come knocking on your window one night or show up at the school to talk to you. He doesn’t care about getting along with your parents. Frankly, he wants to be the “nightmare boyfriend” if anything so expect late night adventures to places you know for a fact you shouldn’t be. Dallas Winston is by no means a gentleman and he likes to show you off to people, but when you’re alone he’s gentler. He’s not romantic by any means whatsoever, just, not as tough and cold. When you finally cave and tell him you do actually like him, he’ll play it cool. But as soon as you leave he’ll be literally jumping for joy.
