As a child, Ai’s mother would claim a red sun rising was an early warning of something to come. Nowadays, of course, it is known that a red sun is nothing but the result of certain particles in the air. A trick of the light. A lie.

It doesn’t stop her from pausing. From turning her head, searching for any signs of...different.

So familiar, yet foreign...A pinprick on the back of her neck, a ringing in her ear, a change in wind...Danger? No, nothing can harm her, surely. That is her one guarantee in this afterlife: dead is dead. So then, what is this absurd feeling? The spike in power? Is it just paranoia? Has she finally gone senile in her old age? 

And then her eyes land on a lone figure: a girl? And a part of her understands.

A polite nod--a bow, really--and a greeting,

“Good day.”

“D-Do you really have to work on it? I-I know my mother told you to but uhm,” Umeko covered her stomach self consciously, the soft flesh visible even in the blouse Umeko picked herself. The dress that Umeko held wasn’t one she wanted to keep at all, but her mother guilt tripped her for leaving it in her closet for so long. Acting as if she didn’t purposely buy three sizes too small originally to embarrass her. What her mother thought was motivation was more like bullying. Not that Umeko would ever call it that, wouldn’t dare to as it was her mother of all people. So now she was left to go on an errand to “fix” it, something that was impossible as tailors can’t make clothes looser. It was just a joke, a mind game that Umeko was tired of placing.

Umeko reached up and rubbed at her cheek to stop tears from flowing out. She was not going to cry in front of a strange about clothes. Crying in changing rooms were bad enough.

“I-I can just go... I don’t want to waste your time Miss.”

 A cough echoed in the empty streets as Juniper trekked to one of the only places that looked open. Her gaze moved to the small inn then back at her trembling fingers.  Was it supposed to be this cold? When she got the call from her boss asking to fly to Italy for a business meeting, she hadn’t expected to feel like the north pole. Cheeks flushed, she pushed forward to the inn, wanting nothing more than the sweet embrace of a bed. Dark brown orbs squinted as she approached the door, checking for someone. 

The last thing she wanted was to make a fool of herself — it wasn’t as if she didn’t do that enough on a daily. Ah! A woman is inside, so does that mean...? As she entered, Juniper was greeted with the heat hitting her at every angle. Her eyes scanned the room, noting how empty it felt. Isn’t it about...10 o’clock here? That means back home it is 5 in the morning, the next day. 

Another cough escaped her and she mumbled a quiet ‘excuse me.’ Approaching the other with a gentle smile, she began to explain her reasoning for her stay. Was that something she needed to do? It only felt polite to do so. 

“ Excuse me — may I get a room for seven nights? “  Her french was very limited and her fingertips were tingling. Maybe they spoke a little bit of english? She had practiced on an app for basic questions on her flight here.

i couldn’t help myself - i had to skip to make one for the eldritch queen. the niche here is pretty clear: big eaters and those with deceptive appearances to their cruelty. guzzlord - again, normally i don’t assign legendaries/UBs, but is basically canon. an eldritch being that will never stop devouring and have swallowed whole mountains and cities ? i’m sure nid would find some kinship in guzzlord’s company. plus i just love beast boost conceptually with this pokemon - it just won’t stop getting bigger and more hungry. gorebyss - a beautiful pokemon to mask how horrifying it truly is. while known for being incredibly elegant and beautiful in the water, it’ll also suck out all the prey’s bodily fluids and leave its corpse to be eaten by others!froslass - one of the classic ‘ holy shit pretty but horrifying ‘ pokemon. ‘ When it finds humans or Pokémon it likes, it freezes them and takes them to its chilly den, where they become decorations.’ i think its favorite food being the souls of handsome men is also a bit hilarious. sligoo - this one might be a bit surprising, especially with how kind goodra is. so why? “It has trouble drawing a line between friends and food. It will calmly try to melt and eat even those it gets along well with. “toxapex - known for its brutality as well as it’s enjoyment of devouring corsola. its incredibly painful poison that even leaves afteraffects feels like it might appeal to nid as a trainer as well.shiinotic - continuing with the theme, a pokemon that leads humans astray to never return home as well as devours life energy. shiinotic’s typing also fills some important patches in nid’s team and makes it a bit more well rounded! full moveset is here!
