Obsessed with how Taika said he cast himself as Alamein because he felt no one else was getting the nuance he wanted. i can't think too hard about taika deciding to play alamein or i lose my mind a little bit. i can't imagine what issues he was running into with the actors he looked at at first but like. on some level it's pretty clear that that was less about them and more about the fact that he based alamein off his own father (not entirely, but. oh man) and realized the best person. to play his own father. would be him.
