Thelreads, MHA 230, Replies Part 2

1) “Oh my god, an army of discount deadpools coming your way with the intent to help is the sort of thing I never considered a possible nightmare scenario, but now I feel like I’ll be dreaming about it tonight, as if I didn’t got enough with that mirror one that woke me up last night for some reason.”-

Just imagine they’re all seagulls, incessantly honking ‘Mine, Mine, Mine……’

Oh no, I made it worse.

2) “I mean, once the fight is over he probably will still have a lot of things to deal with it, but for the time being he got the adrenaline shot that he needed to break through that barrier and survive.”- Alas, like Todoroki showed, Breaking through a lifetime’s worth of trauma thanks to the effect of a single fight isn’t something easily done, and Twice has lived longer than Shoto, but at the same time, it’s also a necessary first Step Twice has taken that will presumably allow him to overcome even his split-personality issues down the line, given enough time and care from the league.

3) “What the fuck do you even again, Mr Compress?”- Compress is sorta running in the ‘lancer’ role here, acting as the sole voice of reason keeping what members of the league he’s in contact with coordinated in the midst of the main army whilst Spinner and Shigaraki take the initiative to head past the fighting and straight to the enemy base, leaving Dabi and Compress behind in the midst of the enemy forces to bear the brunt of the fighting. In actuality, considering his powers can only be used with one hand and he’s having to keep track of every other random mook around him mobbing him from every angle whilst Dabi struggles against Genten, it’s impressive that Compress lasted as long as he did, even whilst fighting Handicapped and outnumbered, whilst watching Dabi’s 6.

4) “It’s not that I want to save those people, fuck them, no, what I’m really worried about is you guys being able to survive until he arrives.”

Compress: oh Goddammit! I can’t believe we actually have to hold back against beating this army to a pulp when we’ve got the upper hand on them! We’re kicking too much ass!! When did we become so good at it? Are they just that incompetent at anything less than Mob tactics? It almost feels anti-climactic to kill them all at this point if this is the best they can throw at us…

5) “Don’t worry Twice, they died doing what they were born to do: Being red shirts. Their brothers will avenge them, mark my words…”-Also providing valuable human Shields for Compress and the other league members should they also be in danger of getting caught in Genten’s crossfire. A true hero gives of himself to help others, and luckily for twice, he can manufacture enough of himself to foot the bill without heed for the costs.

6) “The League, ironically, became the force of good in this fight for default, as they actually meant what they promised, even if its not for the good of all, they aren’t trying to become the thing they hate, no, they really want them gone forever.”-On the one hand, the league as a whole lack a plan for what comes after destroying everything and tearing society down to ashes, as exemplified by Tomura’s sheer nihilistic desire to destroy everything, damn the consequences to himself personally, and leave it up to the rest of the league to figure out what comes afterwards, but on the other hand, their lack of a plan ironically makes them the moral superiors to the MLA, who aim to perpetuate the same cycle of neglect towards the individual that spawned twice and Toga’s current selves, just from the opposite viewpoint of intentionally discriminating against those who lack powerful abilities from birth, rather than neglecting to account for the individual’s feelings in a society that homogenises everybody to act the same.

Sure, the outcome of the League’s intent would basically be the kind of apocalyptic dog-eat-dog wasteland that you could set a mad max film in, but at the same time it’s clearly something different from the current status quo that all despise. Ironically, the MLA has to promote replacing the existing system with one that’s exactly the same, but benefits an individual’s powers, because then they wouldn’t be able to gain so many followers. The league’s goals and objectives are outside the framework of society, which is why so many people look down on them for apparently lacking conviction and intent, but it’s the opposite- their intent is so irrational and alien to those who grew up in the sheltered hero society that they can’t comprehend it, can’t understand why the league would want to tear it all down and build something completely opposite to what they already have.

The league may now lack a concrete idea of what to build after society burns, but they are determined to destroy what currently exists because it opposes the existence of people like them who have fallen through the cracks and failings of society. The MLA, who aims to change society by destroying it from within said framework, has a similar outlook on the league despite their common goals of destroying the existing Hero society, because they too, desire to keep what they currently possess in ther ordered, ordinary day-to-day lives, just altered to suit their desires, whilst the league, freed from the shackles of society, can only see it as a restrictive prison that condemns and oppresses them for being who they are at heart.

7) “Oh wow holy shit, Ice Climber over here is now at the same level as Dabi in crowd-control and overall damage output, jesus fuck look at the scale of that destruction!”-They always were, they just held back to limit the damage to their side whilst they were whittling away at Compress. Ironically, Twice’s Swarming of the MLA on the streets freed up Genten to use the full extent of their quirk without need for Damage control, since anything less won’t slow twice down now.

8) “On that we already knew, but it does raise the question of what exactly Dabi did before meeting the league to end up with those burns, who was he fighting against? Was his dad? Or did he do that to himself for some other reason? “-The most common theory about Dabi’s burns is that they’re the consequence of Dabi‘s incompatibility with the sheer power his flames possess being subjected to Endeavour’s hellish Training regimes in the Todoroki Household- if his powers eat away at him the more they’re used, and the point of Endeavour’s training his kids on how to endure the costs of pushing his flames to the limits like he has to to reach the level of power needed to stand in opposition to All Might, then Dabi enduring such training might have pushed his own powers over the threshold of what he could withstand, resulting in his own powers self-cremating him and resulting in his family thinking he’d burned himself to ashes trying to keep up with Endevour’s demands to appease his father, explaining his contempt towards those who prioritise the strength of their quirks over ‘normal’ life and also his somewhat haughty attitude- despite having being pushed into a corner here Dabi keeps his aloof attitude intact, looking down on Genten and spurning Compresses’ attempts to aid him in his fight despite being on the receiving end of a raw deal, which he might have gotten from it being drilled into his head that the power of his flames was his only point of worth from a young age, driving him to beat Genten alone without aid to prove that twisted desire correct.

9) “The doctor is going to send help their way?! Are you for real?! Well, he saw that they were determinated to win, so maybe that’s enough, and he can maybe send a little gift for them, just a small taste of power…. “- Well, that depends on how you define ‘help’. On the one hand, waking Giganto up early and sending him after Tomura ‘does’ benefit the league because it means he’ll reach the MLA whilst there’s still mooks around for him to slaughter, on the other hand, it also means that he’ll catch up to the league whilst they’re not ready for him, resulting in them being caught between a rock and a hard place- Specifically, thanks to the Timing and Giganto’s single-minded focus, Tomura is now about to be caught in a pincer movement between two hulks ready to smash him into red paste at the same time.

10) “OH THIS IS GOING TO BE GOOD, IF SHIGARAKI WAS EVEN AWARE OF WHATS GOING ON AROUND HIM HE DEFINITELY WOULD BE PISSED”-

Shigaraki: (facing down Re-Destro with Giganto rapidly approaching him from behind, down even his middle finger to flip at his foe)

11) “Things aren’t looking that good for the league to be honest, even with Twice’s help, but now, everything will become infinitely more complicated, as Gigantomachia is finally getting out of his ass to do something.”- Much like All Might, Giganto’s strength is in another dimension entirely compared to everybody else in the series. Should he actually become motivated to get off his ass and act, it’s practically an instant-win condition if your name isn’t AFO. Tomura had better hurry up and get the leash on that Mad Dog asap, or he’s going to be even deeper in a world of hurt than he already is
