His Dark Materials AU where Lyra's alethiometer is stolen from Boreal and he couldn't find who before he dies. Lyra and Will have no way of finding his father so instead they use the knife to travel different worlds in search of him. Lyra's determined to keep her promise even if she can't use her device and Will is on a quest to find his father alongside her. For years, they never find anything but they do fall in love and build a relationship (yes, this contradicts the entire prophecy, fuck off), so when they do find Jopari and he finally tells Will that he has to be in Asriel's war, he says yes but only because his father is asking him.
So, while Asriel needs this special knife, he has to deal with the fact that the bearer is basically his son-in-law who absolutely despises him and doesn't want to be here.
this probably makes no sense, i've never read the books, and i haven't slept in 32 hours

Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3
Despite of having a notoriety of being hard, I decided to pick up Bloodborne The Old Hunters Edition which is equivalent to GOTY edition. I was struggling in the beginning, but what happened after two weeks later? I picked up Dark Souls 3. Yeah. That's right. I love both. At first I was not interested in the dark theme with skulls and stuff, but I'm glad I tried. Still though, aside all the love I have for Soulsborne, I do have one thing I hate the most and I'm going to say it now before writing the awesome part: it's the 'Invasion' system. Yes. It is the 'Invasion' system. Yeah, I know there were people saying in the forums "Oh you just hate PvP hurrdurr". No. Seriously. Zip your mouth. I don't distinguish PvP or Co-op or Single Player. To me they are all just different game modes to play and I like them all. What I hate is not PvP as a game mode in general. Instead, it's the egotistical players, just like in those in Dark Zone, drawn by these forced PvP system. The mindset of "I need you to amuse me and you have to understand me and f*ck you if you refuse" is the reason why I despise these players. Sorry, but I can't call it as Player vs Player. By how the nature works, it fits better to be Player vs Pest. Player vs Player is where two parties intend to compete in a match and meet up to show their best and that is what I would respect. I will talk about it in another post. Now for the awesome part, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 ARE indeed considerably 'hard'. They have tough learning curve. They require you to understand, to pay attention, to try, to figure something out. These games made me realised that this is VIDEO GAME is all about. Video game is a challenge (difficulty may vary). Video game is...something that you play, you take control to solve the problem. Fashion is also one thing that's great in Soulsborne, well, if you're creative. Although the variety and amount of equipment in Bloodborne is pale in comparison to Dark Souls 3. Speaking of the amount of content, I feel that Bloodborne is a bit lacking. I'm not saying they should abuse DLC but I think no fans would complain for another DLC. Unlike DW and SW, coming from the fast paced Bloodborne to the slower Dark Souls 3 took me a lot of adaptation. In DS3, I discovered more way to fight. Champion Gundyr, the so-called tutorial boss who didn't give tutorial at all and thus I would rather call him as the 'drill trainer', took me 3 attempts to defeat with 'Deprived', the worst starting class, thanks to Bloodborne dodging instinct. When I read stories around, 3 times isn't exactly bad for starters and newcomers to the series. Some people went up to 30 times, exaggerated or not I'll never know. Some even gave up without finishing. Not only this, I also accidentally encountered one of the notoriously hard boss, Dancer of Boreal Valley, and won in first try while completely unprepared at all. When I discussed with fellow local players around, I learned that players may find some boss easier while others think it's hard and vice versa. I think this is also a unique part of the series that a player's capability also determines the success rate on different enemies. Up until today, I'm still not an expert in the games. But I love the series.
