Path Of Destiny

Pairings: Barry Allen x Reader

Summary: After the wedding of your friends, Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoke, you broke up with Barry to protect what you love. But Destiny finds it way to bring back together what belongs together, doesn’t it?

Word Count: 3,309

Authors Note: It took me long enough to write something, so stop reading my dumb comment - here it is.

A few Hours before the wedding:

“I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you but I didn’t know what to do. I mean why is this happening now?” You sobbed as you asked Caitlin.

“Okay stop, this is actually a good thing and not the end of the world. Aren’t you happy?” She said and helped you to get up. Cait looked at you and realized you weren’t happy. “I’m sorry. I just don’t understand. Didn’t you want this?”

You didn’t know what to say, you didn’t know why you cried and why you felt the way you did.

“Come on, today is the wedding, I’ll help you get dressed and tomorrow you’ll talk with Barry about it. You’ll figure things out, you always do.” She tried to comfort you.

“Promise me, you won’t say anything to anyone. Especially not Barry.”

She didn’t want to promise you this but she knew, this was to important for you, so she nodded and started doing your hair.

After getting you ready, Caitlin left the room, so she could dress up herself.

You were going through your house and smiled as you saw the pictures of Barry and you on your wall.

You never believed in true love until you moved to central city a few years ago. You started working in a coffee were you two met and the second you saw Barry, you never wanted to leave again.

Barry told you about being The Flash a few months after the particle accelerator explosion. You two started dating right after he was so honest with you and ever since you were a couple. You two were inseparable, until now - your smile faded as soon as your mind started thinking again.

But thankfully you couldn’t think long as someone ringed on your bell. You rushed down stairs and opened the door. It was Barry. He looked handsome as hell and if you hadn’t already fallen in love with him, then you’d now.

“You look-” You both started but stopped and laughed.

“You look amazing, Y/N.” Barry smiled and gave you a soft kiss on your cheek.

You wore a wine red, long dress (X) that fit your body perfectly. You loved this color because you knew it was Barry’s favorite. Your hair was open, you decided to were it a bit curly (X).

“Yes, she does. Now can we go?” Cisco asked behind Barry.

You laughed soft. “Hey, yes but Caitlin isn’t ready-” You replied but as you saw Cisco and noticed he stopped looking at you, you turned around.

“I am ready.” Caitlin smiled.

You moved aside, so Caitlin could come out and as you saw her, you had to smile. She looked beautiful in her blue dress (X) and blushed a bit as everyone stared at her.

A car door opened. “Yes, you all look very good but this was all for nothing, if we miss the wedding.” Harry appealed.

“He’s right.” Barry said and took gently your hand.

After an hour, you reached the wedding. Of course, everything looked very classy. There were a lot of people there, also too many paparazzi. You weren’t used to so many people, none of you. It was like you arrived in another world.

Barry noticed that you looked around and seemed a bit nervous. He laid his hand around your hip and placed a kiss on the top of your head. You smiled.

Barry really was your soulmate and knew you in and out. He knew when you felt uncomfortable and how to change it, this was something you really loved about him.

You moved in front of Barry, placed your arms around his neck and kissed him softly.

Barry stroked a strand of hair behind your ear. “I love you.”

“Barry I-”

“-Hey, everyone!” John nearly shouted as he welcomed you all. “Come inside, its about to start.”

You were so amazed by how beautiful everything looked. It was like a perfect fairy tale. Everything was decorated with flowers and little lights.

It wasn’t the typical wedding, like nearly everyone of the Guests expected it to be. But what nobody knew was, that the real wedding already happened and this was just the after party. But still, it seemed like the first time.

As Oliver stepped up, in front of everyone and started talking about how much he loved Felicity and that she was his light, you couldn’t stop staring at Barry.

Barry felt it and looked at you. He took your hand in his and placed a soft kiss on you knuckles. You knew he felt the same way about you. You did too, he was your light and nothing could ever change that.

"Felicity Smoke, you are my always. And I just want the chance to be yours.” Oliver said and you saw how much Felicity tried not to jump into his arms. “You’re the person that made me a better man. You’re the woman I wanna wake up to every morning and you’re the woman I want my kids to call “Mom”.”

For a short second you smiled and thought about how you wanted this to be Barry’s and your wedding, but this second didn’t last long. You had to go outside.

You didn’t care about the paparazzi but you still found a place were none of them could find you, not that they’d care for you. They’d probably just want some inside news from the wedding.

As Oliver said all those beautiful words, you had to think about how your life is going to be. You knew that Barry would probably be next to you any minute, as soon as he noticed you were gone, so you tried not to cry again. You felt like you’d throw up any second.

“Hey Babe, you alright?”

You wished that he didn’t come outside. That Barry gave you a moment for yourself. To think. Because maybe you wouldn’t do, what you were about to do.

“I can’t do this anymore Barry. I can’t live my life like this every day.”

Barry was confused and knelt in front of you. “What are you talking about, Y/N?”

“I don’t want my life to be like this, always wondering if you come back to me or if you’ll vanish and I won’t be able to do something about it. Barry, I can’t.” You couldn’t help but cried. “I don’t want to watch my back everytime I go outside because some crazy villain could be standing there.”

“Are you breaking up with me?”

You looked into his eyes and saw how badly he tried to hide his breaking heart, his breaking soul. He truly loved you and he was confused. In one second you love him and in the next you are breaking up? That didn’t made any sense to him. You weren’t even sure if it made sense to you.

You gently touched his cheek. “I don’t want to but I have to.” You kissed his forehead and then you ran into a Taxi.

A few weeks later:

It was late at night and Central City was quiet. Too quiet. Barry needed some distraction but it was like every criminal stopped being a criminal, the second he needed them to. And even if something would’ve happened, he probably couldn’t focus at all.

Not a day went by, where we wasn’t thinking about you or how you broke up with him. He didn’t understand what was going on. He tried to call you at least a thousand times. Everyone tried to reach you somehow, but it was like you were no where to be found. You vanished.

All of his friends tried to help him somehow but he didn’t even talked to them about what happened, just that you left him.

Barry moved back in with Joe, because as he wanted to go home, after the wedding, he couldn’t do it. You were his home and with you not being there, it wouldn’t be the same.

Iris came over to watch some movies with Barry and cook for him as he hadn’t eaten much lately. Iris thought, if he’d open up, then maybe it’d be easier for him to get over you. So she tried to bring Barry to talk.

“Y/N, didn’t say anything except that she had to leave me.”

“But that doesn’t make any sense, she loved you more than anything. Everyone saw it. Y/N talked about marry you a few months ago. This was real.”

Barry couldn’t stop himself as tears rolled down his face. “I miss her. Iris I miss her so much. I need her.”

“I’m so sorry.” Iris wrapped her arms around Barry.

“Y/N is my life. It doesn’t make sense.” He sobbed. “I’m always asking myself, did I do something wrong?”

“I hope you didn’t thought you could hide from me, as you could from the others.”

You stood up but didn’t turn around. “This isn’t possible, I made sure Felicity couldn’t-”

“-She didn’t found you. But you know, that I know a few people and I promised you I’ll always find you.” Oliver said as he made a few steps out of the shadows. “Gotham, huh? This is no place for you, Y/N.”

A tear rolled down your face. Oliver was one of your best and oldest friends, even before you met Barry you knew him.

“Oliver, please go.” You begged.

“Not without an explanation. Y/N, do you know what you did? Everyone is looking for you, a few think you’re dead. Barry can’t even think straight and this is going to get him killed, when he has his mask on.”

“You don’t understand.” You sobbed.

“Don’t pretend that this means something to you, you left without a word, so you have no right to.” Oliver scowled. “But I see you’ve a nice place here. So you’re alive and well and to get all of this, you had to be smart, which means you still can think at least a bit straight.”

You knew that you deserved the way he talked to you and much more. You understood what you did and regret leaving Barry everyday, even when you were sure it was still the right decision.

You turned around to face Oliver while tears made their way into your eyes. As Oliver saw you it seemed like his anger faded.

“Damn it, Y/N.” was all Oliver could say at first. “You were afraid.”

You nodded as you gently stroke your belly. Oliver understood and regret what he said just a few minutes ago. He made his way to you and wrapped his arms around you. You let him hold you. You needed it.

“I had to start thinking for all of us. How can he safe his city and his kids?” You asked Oliver as you cried in his arms. “How can I force him to choose?”

“Kids?” He looked at you. “Like in Twins?”

You nodded again and leaned your head on his chest. “I can’t lose him and explain to them why their daddy won’t come home, why he’ll miss christmas and their birthdays.”

Nearly an hour after you told Oliver about your pregnancy and why you left Barry, he made you something to eat.

“How did you get this place?” He asked.

You smirked. “I had a life before you Mr. Queen.” He rolled his eyes. “Fine, I stole some credit cards.”

“The old criminal days, huh? Thought you’re done with that.” He chuckled. “You know, you could’ve asked me?”

“I know but they were so rich and also not good people. They deserved it.” You replied.

“Of course Robin Hood.” He winked at you. “You know that you’ve to come home and you have to tell him-” Oliver started as you stopped him.

“-but”

“Pssht.” he replied. “I won’t force you. I’ll keep my mouth shout. It’s you decision when but as your friend, I say you do it soon and get the love of your life back.”

“What if destiny doesn’t want us to be together? I mean you know what the newspaper says in the future..”

“If this would be true, you wouldn’t be blessed with Twins and I wouldn’t be here to tell you to go back.” He smiled. “And if you need anything, just say it and you’ll get it, okay? I’ll always be there for you.”

After eating, Oliver made his way to the door. You looked sad and didn’t know what to say.

“Come on, you remember when you moved to central city and I made you a promise?"

“The one where you said, I promise if you move there, you’ll be safe an be happy?” You smiled soft. “Yeah, maybe you were right for awhile.”

“No, I am right and I kept my promise. I introduced you to Barry after you couldn’t stop talking about him. Please don’t make me break my promise, go back to him and say destiny, it can kiss your ass.”

“Goodbye, Oliver.” You said and placed a kiss on his cheek.

4 Months later:

A few months later and your belly already seemed like it was time to deliver your babys but you were in the 32. week. You still missed Barry everyday and watched the news just to see him. You also tried to call him but hang up every time.

Felicity also knew where you were now because you didn’t want Oliver keeping secrets from his wife, besides that she’d kill both of you when she’d found out on her own. She promised not to tell anyone about your pregnancy and to respect your decision but she made you allow her to tell the others you were alive and well.

You knew that Barry was still looking for you, as the news of different citys said that “The Flash” was seen. It made your heart break. You loved him and you wanted to be with him so badly. But you had to think about what could happen if a villain found out who the flash is and where his family lived.

But still, your heart was bleeding as long as you were separated from Barry. He was not only your Partner, he was your best friend and you needed him.

You were about to get a shower as your phone ringed, you knew it had to be important, than besides Oliver and Felicity no one had your number and they wouldn’t call if not necessary. So you made your way downstairs.

But suddenly you stumbled and fell down the stairs. Everything started to turn black.

You woke up when you heard the doorbell, but you couldn’t move. Your head hurt and you tried to feel your baby's, but nothing moved. You felt that you were lying in something wet and when you looked at your hand and noticed that it was blood, you got panic.

You saw someone behind your door and screamed for help. The person broke your door open, you didn't recognize who it was, the only thing you saw was something red before everything faded to black.

“Barry, she wakes up!”

All you heard was a flash and you knew who was by you side before you had to open your eyes.

“What happened?” You asked as you opened them and recognized you were laying in a hospital. You saw Felicity also next to you Barry.

“I’m sorry, he found out.” Felicity apologized.

You stroke you belly and remembered what happened. “Are they alright? Are the babys okay?” You panic.

“Hush..” Barry took your hand. “They,’re fine. They’re perfect.” He started crying.

“I’m so sorry Barry, I’m so so sorry.” You started crying too. “I love you, I never stopped, please believe me. I never stopped loving you, they’re your Baby’s.” You said because you were afraid he might thought, you left him because there could be someone else.

Barry kissed your hand, he knew you were telling the truth but that didn’t change his broken heart. He loved you and for the past months, he did nothing else than trying to save the city he loved and finding the love of his life, who tried not to be found. Who hid from him, who hid his children. He was a broken man.

You body hurt, it was more pain than you ever had to feel in your entire life but you didn’t care. You tried to stand up. As you did, you still hold yourself on the bed. Barry tried to stop you but you were a stubborn person. As you saw how he looked at you, you had to hold him. So you wrapped your arms around him and let him cry.

You were the reason why he was broken and you knew it. You knew how much he still loved you and you saw how much he was hurt. You knew you didn’t deserved him by your side anymore but that didn’t mean that he didn’t deserve to know that you never stopped loving him.

“I know, I can never undo this and I don’t deserve you but I love you, Barry Allen I love you with all I am and all I have. I no this is no excuse but I wanted them safe. I wanted them to have a life and you to live the life you love as flash. I did it to protect them.”

Barry stood up. “Do you think, I love being The Flash more than I love you? Because this isn’t true, If I had know we could’ve figured something out, Y/N. And if I had to stop being The Flash, so be it. Wally could’ve take my place.”

“But you could never give it up and I don’t want you to. The Flash is a part of you.”

“Yes, but you’re the other. Without you I can’t be The Flash and I can’t be Barry Allen.” He replied.

“I can never fix what I’ve done to you, Barry.” You cried.

Before Barry could reply, Caitlin brought your babys in. You had to sit down because you legs couldn’t bare the pain much longer. But as you saw them, a boy and a girl, you smiled. Barry was right. They were perfect.

Barry looked at you as you saw them for the first time. He remembered how you looked at him like this so many times, like he was your world and no one will ever take his place. He was fine with it, that you looked at his Babys like this.

“Do you’ve names?” Barry asked soft.

You nodded and smiled at him. “We’ll call them Nora and Bart.”

“Y/N, I promise you, we’re going to fix us somehow. We’ll find a way to deal with everything that has happened and everything that comes, if you want to.” Barry says.

“After all I did?”

“You did it to protect them, I would’ve done the same. And I love you.” He replied.

Ten years later:

Barry and you had a rough time. It took everything to get his trust back but eventually, you two became inseparable again.

You moved back together and became a real Family with the kids and after two years, he asked you to marry him.

You also figured out how he can be The Flash and be a father. Wally helped watching the city, so did Cisco and Killer Frost. Everyone helped you to get life as normal as I could be.

But normal stopped as soon as Nora and Bart discovered their powers. Barry and you knew it wouldn’t work to stop them from using their powers, they had the stubbornness of their mother. So instead of hiding and pretending, Barry and Wally started to train with the kids, so that one day - they can safe Central City.
