#formatted like this because tumblr doesn't lightbox their images in text posts

ok so things I like about using the mobile site as a fennec app (shortcut to my dash on my homescreen, badge removed):
access to extensions because I'm using fennec I'm able to port in extensions of my choosing, so ublock, x-kit rewritten, shinigami eyes, etc. all working on what is essentially a mobile app version of Tumblr and that's v nice
one click report-and-block like on the website don't have to negotiate that tiny ass little menu for blocking bots which ends up in me clicking follow more often than not
no persistent live button xoxo fuck you @staff
easy saving of images and videos easy access to media urls by long-pressing so i can share vids with ppl directly instead of linking to smth where my url is somewhere in the notes so that i can be futher unperceived
plain vanilla ass lightbox. no fucking overlays in fullscreen for videos. no algorithmically-served content. no blurred content in the background. just the thing but bigger.
reblog graphs!

things that suck huge:
the activity indicator lighting up for both new posts and notes activity so that you have to open the side bar to see which one and if you check your notes it doesn't clear the indicator unless you refresh your feed which only clears it for 2 seconds before a new post triggers it
the text selection oh my gooooooooood sucks BIG plus when you select text the mobile pop-up text action menu covers the tumblr text action menu so you have p much no access to any text modifiers within the post editor (like bold, italic, font/format, etc.)
if you can grab and drag tags i haven't found a way of reliably doing it. every time i click on a tag i enter the tag text editor - there doesn't seem to be a surefire place to grab the tag with the intention of changing the order
a lot slower ngl - prob bc of my extensions but opening tumblr as a tab in fennec is fine but from a homescreen shortcut is slow as shit
no quick view of activity - gotta go into the activity feed fully and the preview thumbnails seem smaller than they are on the mobile app? so it's harder to see what post notes are for
no swipe-to-scrub on the video player
no double-tap to zoom on pics
no notifications
like ngl i kinda miss the app for the ease and speed, but not enough to reinstall it and definitely not enough to restart my ad-free subscription

hello ^_^ super sorry if this is too long, you're the first tumblr code blog i've found thats been active within the last year & im a little desperate. my sideblog has a theme that HATES me so bad (effector theme by pixel union)
on my test sideblog, gunpikachu, the lightbox(? i think that's what its called) works as intended. when you click on the photo, it enlarges, while not taking you off the page. on the actual sideblog, dreamcast-webcomic, it forces you to click on a magnifying glass that takes you to a separate page with the image, and it doesn't even open in a new tab! it does this regardless of whether or not the original post was made in npf. some posts are from 2 years ago, others are from 5 months ago, neither have working lightboxes. reblogged photosets have the lightbox, along with this one post made in npf.. i don't know why this one specifically works. new photosets i post on the blog have the lightbox working fine, it's only affecting posts that were created before i changed the theme. i know 0 things about coding, all ive found is that on posts with the lightbox, it has an event named "post_media_photo_anchor" in it, and this phrase is located nowhere within the theme itself. if you have any idea how to fix this nightmare, i would be 4ever grateful. thank you for reading my plea for help, hope you have a good one!
Heya! I took a look at your blogs and it seems like the posts are different types (main blog has a text/npf post, sideblog has a photoset post). Your theme displays text posts with the lightbox and photoset posts with the magnifying glass, it's intentional behaviour. The post you linked to shows up how you want it to because it's not actually a photoset, it's a text post!
If you ever want to check the post type yourself, right click anywhere inside a post and open the developer tools by clicking "Inspect" (or whatever your browser calls it). Look for the line that starts with "<article id". You'll notice right that right after the id, it'll have the class (e.g. "class="post type-text"). In this case, it's telling us that the post is a text post.
I suspect your recent posts are displaying how you want them to because the newer ones are text posts and the older ones are photoset posts. Have you been posting stuff using the mobile app? All posts made in the app are in Neue Post Format (NPF) and all NPF posts are text posts.
The "post_media_photo_anchor" is referring to the original small image that shows up in the post. I haven't dug into the HTML deep enough to know what exactly it does, but I wouldn't worry about it. It's a lightbox thing, probably.
As for a solution:
You could only post stuff as text posts (or with the mobile app)
You could edit the HTML and change how the theme displays how photoset posts
I did also notice that the theme you're using has an toggle option called "Custom Photosets", which changes how photosets are displayed. One version is with the magnifying glass but the other version makes it show up like a slideshow. It depends on how you want your photosets to display but this might be the best solution.
Hope that cleared things up for you, feel free to let me know if youโ€™ve got any other questions. ๐Ÿ™‚
