Pictures Last Longer

Summary: sometimes, pictures hold a lot more meaning than expected

A/n: Wow i actually wrote something, this is weird

Brendon enjoyed photography.

He was enamored by the number of filters that could be used and the angles he could take them from. He loved being photographed as well, when he was up on stage, singing away, Jake was taking pictures and the crowd was taking pictures. He loved the things his fans could do with the pictures.

However, his favourite thing was to take pictures of his girls. He would be walking around in the house, see them laying together on the couch, and immediately take thousands of pictures. No matter how much they protested.

Sarah was very photogenic, and rightfully so. She was one of the prettiest girls Brendon had ever seen.

Y/n didn’t think she was as photogenic. She was self-conscious and never liked seeing pictures of herself. Even when Brendon and Sarah told her that she was cute.

On tour, Brendon always had a camera in his hand. He wanted to capture as many memories as he could.

“Girls, hurry up, we're leaving in five minutes whether you’re done or not,” Brendon called through the hotel room. They were going to visit the Golden Gate bridge and some other spots in San Francisco while they were in town.

“We’re coming, Brendon,” Sarah called. She had finished applying a much needed later of concealer on her neck to hide any traces of last night. Y/n did not appreciate that.

“I wish we could show off my handy work, bub,” she sighed, watching the final splotch disappear under the liquid, “did a number on ya, want everyone to know it.” She left light kisses on Sarah’s neck as the girl applied some lip gloss.

“We have to go, baby,” Sarah whispered. Y/n looked up at her through the mirror and her eyes were glued shut.

“wish we didn't, would love to clean this concealer off and make some new marks,” Y/n remarked, biting at the flesh. They heard someone clear their throat in the doorway and both girls looked up.

Brendon had his camera in hand and he was looking at you through hooded eyes. “I was checking what was taking so long, now I know,” he chuckled lowly, “and as much as I’d like to see it continue, we already promised to join everyone for their day off.”

Y/n laughed, untangling herself from her girlfriend, sauntering out of the bathroom, barely brushing Brendon's arm. Sarah watched as the girl walked away, a goofy smile on her face, “she can be such a pest, but I love her to death.”

“Me too,” Brendon agreed.

Y/n liked holding hands with both of them, but hated being in between them, because they made her feel small. Being the shortest of the three, she always stayed on the end of the line of people.

Today, she was holding Sarah’s hand, Brendon leading the way with Zack next to him. Sarah was warm, y/n had to admit, but she missed Brendon’s large hand and just wanted to be cuddled by both of them until they were to get on the bus and go to the next city.

But they promised they would go with everyone to sightsee.

“Y/n, you grew up, here didn’t you?” Mike asked. She jumped lightly, she hadn’t noticed he was right next to her.

“No, I’m from Fairfield, a little farther north,” she answered, “but my family drove here every few weekends.” She cuddled closer into Sarah’s arm, rubbing her cheek lightly against the soft fabric of her jacket. If Sarah noticed this, she didn’t say anything, she just looked around in wonder at the city around them.

“Oh my God, Sarah, y/n! Look at this thrift store!” Brendon called to them, finally turning to them. He saw his girlfriend cuddled up sleepily to his wife walking almost on autopilot. How could he resist taking a picture?

Sarah noticed the camera coming up and smiled brightly, but y/n wasn’t paying attention. He took a quick snapshot of them before dropping his camera (it was wrapped around his neck via a strap that had buttons y/n insisted would make it cuter. He couldn’t help but agree.) When Sarah and y/n finally caught up, he gestured to her clinging to her lady.

“I’ll take her if you want me to,” he said lowly, “looks about ready to fall asleep.” Sarah nodded, nudging her.

“Baby, you wanna climb on Brendon’s back? Don’t want you to fall asleep on me while we’re crossing the road,” Sarah whispered. Y/n looked between the two and nodded, separating from Sarah. Brendon smiled lightly, holding out his hand for her to take.

“Only for five minutes, then I’ll walk again,” she stifled a yawn.

It was more than five minutes later, more like an hour later. Brendon had been carrying you for an hour, refusing help from Zack because 'she's my girl, I’ll take care of her.’

Sarah removed the camera strap from Brendon’s neck, taking a snapshot here and there. When they were stopped at a crosswalk, Sarah finally took in the sight of her girl on her boys back. She looked comfy, her cheek smooshed on his shoulder and eyes shut lightly. The sun wasn’t out, but the light was perfect on her skin. Brendon had ditched his coat a while ago, it tied around her waist by the sleeves.

She quickly took a picture of them, smiling to herself at how perfect they were.

It was definitely going on the wall at home.

They ended up getting a late lunch at around two, when y/n was finally awake and feeling fine. They decided on California Pizza Kitchen because they were tourists and wanted to be cheesy.

She sat between Sarah (holding her hand) and Brendon (he had his hand on her shoulder, caressing small circles with his thumb). They were thoroughly enjoying their meal, until Y/n felt it. There was a camera on her and she didn’t know where from.

She looked around subtly and saw people aiming their phones at the table, specifically her and Brendon. She watched as someone forgot to turn off the flash and their face flushed in horror as she caught them.

“B,” she whispered, “people are takin' pictures.”

Brendon looked over, “I know, bub,” he reassured, “they’ll calm down soon.”

But it never seemed to calm down, she could still feel people staring, taking pictures, whispering to their friends. It may not have been about her.

Hell, who was she trying to impress? They were all about her. She hated thinking things were about her, especially when she was next to the few most amazing people she had ever met in her life, but she was big news lately. Ever since they had announced their relationship. She was the home wrecker, the girl that got with a married couple. Everyone talked about her, about them. Slurs were thrown at her, not only homophobic ones, but misogynistic ones as well.

“I need to use the bathroom,” she excused herself from the table politely and made a b-lime to the bathroom. As soon as she entered, she locked the door. She didn’t want to be someone that broke down in public, she just needed to compose herself before going back out to completely ignore the people around her until they left and got back to the hotel room.

She needed to calm down.

Sarah and Brendon eyed each other warily, and made a silent agreement that he would go check on her. He excused himself, claiming he had to pee.

He knocked on the ladies' room door, “baby, are you in there?” He heard shuffling inside and the click of the lock and the door swung open. He looked at her, teary eyes, mascara slightly smeared. “oh sweetheart,” he whispered. He pushed his way in, locking the door behind him.

“I’m sorry, B,” she whispered, “tried bein' strong, but they’re all talking about me, saying I’m a whore, I’m not a whore!” she let out a broken sob, “M’sorry.”

Brendon’s heart sunk, pulling her into his chest to support her as she cried.

“Shh, it’s ok sweet girl,” he whispered, “I’m here, no one else.” He swayed them back and forth as she cried. “do you wanna go back to the hotel room, cuddle with me and Sarah and maybe have a bath?”

“That sounds good,” she whispered, “can I have a finger please?” she asked politely. He melted, placing his thumb on her bottom lip. She let the digit slip into her mouth, licking over the pad of it. She felt grounded in that moment

After their moment in the bathroom, Brendon walked out with her at his side, hand holding hers tightly. He whispered something in Sarah’s ear and she seemed to get the memo quickly.

Y/n had never been so happy that they understood each other so deeply.

Sarah set up the bath for all three of them, even though it would be a tight squeeze. They had a bath bomb from one of the shops they visited in town and the whole bathroom smelled like vanilla sugar.

“I’m so sorry that happened baby,” Sarah said, walking around the bathroom to clean up everything before she herself squeezed in, “you should have told me, I would have gotten you out of there quick.”

“Why didn’t you tell us about all those hate messages you’ve been getting?” Brendon asked, “we love you and want to take care of you, baby.”

She shrugged, snuggling farther into his chest. He ran his fingers through her hair carefully, his other hand rubbing small circles on her tummy. Sarah finally turned around from facing the mirror and saw the two together. Her heart jumped, a deep feeling of adoration flowing through her veins before she pulled out her phone and took a quick picture.

The flash was on, and roused the two from their quiet dazed state.

“No, baby,” y/n groaned, “that’s not nice, you know I hate pictures.” Sarah only smiled and put the phone away. She finally stripped from her clothes and climbed in the very small bathtub with her loves.

On the bus, it was generally quiet. No one talked, they all just sat on their phones, watched tv, or played on their laptops or the PlayStation someone brought along. This was usually Sarah and y/n’s time to cuddle. Brendon would be on his laptop, playing Fortnite, or some days he would play outlast just to freak y/n out.

This day, Sarah was laying on the makeshift couch with y/n in between her legs, her head on her chest. They had a blanket sprawled over them. Sarah had a hand free of the blanket confines, stroking slowly up and down y/n’s back.

“I was thinking when we get back home, we take a few days to just be lazy and cuddle,” Sarah suggested. Y/n hummed in response, only half-way paying attention. She was watching one of the boys play a video game on the TV (it was far more interesting than just laying down and going back to sleep and risk fucking up her sleep schedule more).

The original purpose of the TV eventually diminished when both Sarah and y/n fell asleep, cuddled close on the couch. Zack bumped Brendon on the shoulder, gesturing to the sleeping women. Nicole giggled, commenting on how cute they were.

“Get my phone,” he whispered.

They found the picture later on Brendon’s twitter.

And y/n had to admit, they looked pretty damn cute in that picture.

Fortnite Season X has gone live today and in the v10.00 update, there were many cosmetics that were found in the files and leaked by data-miners as soon as the update was available to download.
