Michel Vitold and Channing Pollock in Judex (Georges Franju, 1963)
Cast: Channing Pollock, Francine Bergé, Edith Scob, Michel Vitold, Jacques Jouanneau, Théo Sarapo, Sylva Koscina. Screenplay: Jacques Champreux, Francis Lacassin, based on a screenplay by Arthur Bernède and Louis Feuillade. Cinematography: Marcel Fradetal. Art direction: Robert Giordani. Music: Maurice Jarre.
Judex is, like Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and the subsequent Indiana Jones sequels, an hommage more than a spoof. In both cases, the filmmakers were affectionately mimicking films of their youth: the cliff-hanging serials that often accompanied feature films. Unlike Spielberg, director Georges Franju had a particular director in mind: Louis Feuillade, who crafted adventure thrillers usually involving master criminals like the titular protagonist of Fantômas (1913) and the sinister Irma Vep of Les Vampires (1915-16). The original Judex serial of 1916 featured a masked crime-fighter, a figure that became increasingly popular after Douglas Fairbanks adapted a magazine story in The Mark of Zorro (Fred Niblo, 1920), leading to numerous comic books and movies about swashbucklers and superheroes using disguises to protect their secret identity. The archetype became so prevalent that eventually it was subject to amused mockery, as in the camped-up Batman TV series of 1966-68. But Franju isn't out to mock Feuillade's serials so much as to recapture some of the innocent thrills of the original, with sets and costumes evoking a pre-World War I naïveté. Judex (Channing Pollock) is a do-gooder who in the film is trying to expose the fraud and murder committed by a wealthy banker, Favraux (Michel Vitol). He has somehow disguised himself (with an obvious fake beard) as Favraux's secretary, Vallières-- the film never bothers with backstories of its characters, so we don't know how Judex/Vallières gained Favraux's confidence and trust -- and manages to fake Favraux's death and hide him away in an elaborate dungeon, where he watches Favraux via an improbably early version of television. But Judex's plans -- which are not entirely clear in any case -- are complicated by his adversary, Diana Monti (Francine Bergé), who has herself been operating as the governess for Favraux's granddaughter. And so on, through an increasingly intricate series of plot twists, clashes, escapes, last-minute rescues, and all of the trappings of the genre. It's really a good deal of fun, though it occasionally goes a little slack, especially if you're not in the mood for such Gallic nostalgia. Marcel Fradetel's black-and-white cinematography mimics the silent-movie style to the mark, even using old-fashion iris shots for transition, and at one point having the comic-relief detective, Cocantin (Jacques Jouanneau), peer through the keyhole, with what he witnesses viewed through a keyhole-shaped aperture. Judex is played by an American magician, Channing Pollock, who performs some sleight-of-hand involving doves. A very handsome presence but no actor, Pollock was hyped as a new Rudolph Valentino, but without success.

Avenge Thy Brother –  Trivia
For those that want to read the story and still haven’t read it yet on Wattpad, here’s the link: https://www.wattpad.com/story/219687192-avenge-thy-brother
Warning: This post contains plot spoilers so DO NOT READ THIS if you haven’t read the story
Here’s 12 unknown (some may be already known depending on how you read and/or interpreted the story) facts about Avenge Thy Brother:
The story begins immediately where Not My Brother’s Keeper ended which showed Cameron, now an FBI agent, going into a federal maximum-security prison to gain information from Dr. Wesley Gilmore. What’s not shown in the final chapter of Not My Brother’s Keeper is that Cameron was being followed the entire time and someone in his department (later known as the mole) had organized a plan to infiltrate the prison while Cameron is there. With the story being told in first person, I decided not to bring up the mole until after the first chapter.
As with Not My Brother’s Keeper, each chapter’s title consists only of two words that somewhat sum up the chapter.
Originally, I wanted all four of the victims of the network to be found murdered to keep the case cold for a longer period of time. However, when I began writing, I realized there had to be some hope for Cameron to keep going. That’s what led me to connect one of the missing men to someone controlling the network keeping the missing man alive.
Both COWO and Project Eradication were secret societies with their own respective division and operations all around the country. Some members within the societies are aware of one another but they do not know each and every move that the other is going to make; hence, Evan Murphy’s role in both organizations was crucial for him and the organizations.
I decided to make the biggest villains in this story women because I wanted to show that women, too, can be just as homophobic and bigoted as men. While Karen’s homophobia is fueled by mental illness, Michele Whitlock’s is fueled by pure hatred.
The decision to make Agent Fairbanks the mole came to me as I was writing the first chapter. He’s one of the first agents on the scene at the prison and is the person who reveals to Cameron that his recording is gone. In reality, he’s the person who has stolen the tape without anyone noticing.
Throughout the story, I wrote scenes involving Byron in a way where you couldn’t tell if he was truly on Cameron’s side or if he was pretending to be. I did this on purpose to add to the feeling of paranoia, but by the end of the story you know he truly loves Cameron and was truly concerned for Cameron’s well-being.
Both Not My Brother’s Keeper and Avenge Thy Brother take place between early 2014 and late 2019; spanning five years.
I considered both Masters of Deception and Not My Brother’s Keeper II: Avenge Thy Brother as possible titles for this story. I eventually settled on Avenge Thy Brother.
I originally planned for Byron to be shot during a sting operation not related to Cameron’s case. Following Byron’s hospitalization, Karen asks Cameron where to send flowers. When in attempt is made to kill Byron in the hospital, Cameron realizes Karen had asked him earlier which hospital Byron was in and puts it together that she’s involved with the network. By the time I began writing the story, I decided to scrap the idea and have Cameron slowly come to the realization that Karen is involved.
Near the end of the story, a janitor with the infinity tattoo seen on many COWO members is caught by Cameron. I included this character for two reasons: (1) to show that there were people working in the courthouse involved with the organization and a possible coverup to ensure Michele is found not guilty and (2) to stall Cameron just enough so that the assassination of Michele can happen without Cameron intervening.
The original ending of the story in my outline was the scene where Michele is shot on the steps of the federal court. However, as I got deeper into writing the story, I decided to have the story end with Cameron finally catching up to Francine and putting an end to COWO, the organization that put Tommy in the crosshairs of Project Eradication and its partner, Kappa Sigma Phi.

Dukakis speaks at Fairbanks Ranch
Michael Dukakis, 83, former governor of Massachusetts and 1988 Democratic candidate for president, spoke recently to the Rancho Santa Fe Democratic Club where I am VP for programs. Congressman Scott Peters was there. Also Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez and new husband Nathan Fletcher, a likely candidate for supervisor in 2018.

I saw the dinner screen shot abt the blood and I need to know what frankie answered about that and the “would u become a vamp”-question plsss

verda is frankie’s best friend, and the person closest to her in the entire world. before unit bravo he was her only confidant and the only person she was willing to be vulnerable with, so i thought her saying “you really do know me well” was fitting here.
but, yeah. she’s been thinking about it. not in a romantic “i want to be with my immortal vampire lover forever” way but in a “i’m the same age my father was when he died and i have been confronted by my own mortality so many times over the last few months that death has become my greatest fear. i hate the indignity of my own human helplessness.”
of course frankie would never say this is why, because she doesn’t have that insanely high stoic/stubborn stat for nothing. and she is known by all three men at that table to be incredibly vain. so verda, eric, and adam are all just like:

im not sure if youve said this before, but who did you end up making your detectives' best friends in their stories?
no i actually don’t think i have !!
frankie & mason are best friends by mid book 2 for sure. they very quickly realized that they would get along because they’re both so blunt. also, they both distrust the agency yet follow orders, get uncomfortable with affection, have wallflowers tendencies, and are extremely sarcastic (and a little mean hehe).
and unexpectedly, ken & ava are best friends by the end of book 3. as much as ava hates ken at first and gets in the way of her relationship with farah, slowly they start bonding over all the things they have in common, like working out, combat, liking cars/motorcycles, getting the boy toy at mcdonalds, appreciating women yet finding that their personality repels most of them.
here’s a doodle of ken and ava showing off their muscles 💪

The WAY I was reading Adam’s book 3 route and going oh god Frankie and him gonna be mutually obliterated ❤️
oh they were … the way that man was on his knees in the hallway outside her door crying, shaking, clutching the carpet and thinking “TORTURE WOULD BE A BLESSING COMPARED TO THIS TORMENT” after kissing her on the mouth for 4.5 seconds … WASTED
