Isagi yoichi was the biggest egoist of them all. His popularity of being the best football player on the team at a university he attends and of course his good looks that kept his reputation up and the girls in line. He couldn’t simply ruin that with having girlfriend or anything that had to do with dating. He had only one thing to be stressed about and that was football. Though it sure wasn’t a problem if he just had his fun.
He was use to it, rejecting girls because he wants to focus on his upcoming games and he had no time for relationships. That didn’t stop them from at least trying again once or twice, maybe more than that. No one could get over him, that’d be impossible in his egotistic mind. Even people are to be warned not to be messed with him because he would easily tell you he doesn’t do that kind of “stuff” after just him making out with you 30 seconds ago.
He’s not mean about it though, he wouldn’t tell you to straight up thats he’s just not interested in you instead he says it sincerely even though he knows what he’s doing and how to do it, letting them down easy he knows they always come back anyways. Isagi loathes in the feeling of being adored, if he could get it from his fans he can get it from somewhere else and a different audience. How else could he keep himself entertained with the ladies?
“I really do like you Isagi” Then there was a long pause when you waited for him to answer, he rubs the back of his neck and stares at the ground before he could give you the bad news.
“‘M sorry I don’t really do relationships, I just want to focus on my career and I don’t want ‘dating’ to get in the way of that..we can always be friends though?”
You were confused, you don’t get it? He was flirting and teasing you for weeks. You were hanging out a lot, people would’ve been convinced you both were dating. You never kissed or held hands but surely it had to be obvious. Your friends convinced you that he liked you back, no guy would act that way towards a girl he doesn’t like or wouldn’t want to take things further with? Was he just leading you on?
“Uh..yeah i understand...” you really didn’t, you wanted to ask him why but he would probably repeat what he just said.
Isagi sighs like he has not gone through many let downs and watch the disappointment of his victim. “No hard feelings?”
“Yeah..none”
Then it’s been a week since he hasn’t seen you. Usually they come back in a day or two in his book so why haven’t you? It shouldn’t stress him out about it, it’s just longer than he expected it to be. His stupid ego got the best of him and his way of thinking that he could have every girl begging on their knees for him.
Jealousy bites him in the back when he’s sees you talking to other guys especially the ones on his team, he shouldn’t be jealous? He doesn’t even like you, he’s the one who rejected you so why does it eat at him? He wasn’t focused on anyone but you not paying him no mind, he’ll walk by you expecting to connect eye contact but you’ll be chatting up with your friends like he doesn’t exist. Maybe he could try to get you to like him again to fill his ego, yeah that’s probably it. You guys never made out or had sex, that was maybe the problem and he just had to do that.
You slowly became irritated when he kept trying to talk to you though they were just failed conversations. You didn’t know why he was trying to talk to you and you were trying to avoid him, how else could you move on from him?
He invites you to a party for tonight as a start of a friendship he wanted to build with you hoping you weren’t still upset with him, your friends really wanted to go since his teammates would be there and you agreed taking a chance with Isagi. You had a gut feeling but you didn’t know whether it was good or bad, you just knew something was to come as he grins to himself when you said yes. A scheme he has planned behind his soft smile.
Isagi being an athlete, he wasn’t a drinker though he offered you one, another one, also two more. Honestly you stopped counting after the second. Perhaps it was the alcohol but you started to feel glad that you and Isagi come to an agreement to be friends. Maybe you were too harsh, maybe he genuinely wanted to be friends as you were trying to ignore him this whole time.
The way your hands started to feel clammy because he kept staring at you, you felt as if his gaze your burning into your skin, you felt nervous, rubbing your hands on your dress. Why are you feeling nervous? You don’t like him, well you used to. You tried to push the thoughts away that he is cute, no he was and isn’t still you don’t really like him? You wonder if it was just your drunken mind playing tricks on you or the feelings were coming back again and he can read you good.
“Don’t do that..” he tilts his head at you as if he were oblivious however he knows all too well. “Don’t do what?”
“You’re looking at me like...” you didn’t want to assume or flat out say it, you shrug because you didn’t know what to add on or decide not to jump to conclusions, Isagi laughs to himself.
He’s a good guy with no rude intentions, yet he’s leading you by the hand upstairs in a unoccupied room.
“Why are we in here?” You sat on the edge of the bed watching him shut the door behind him “it’s quieter for us” he sat right next to you, he didn’t leave space between you both he was so close his figure was towering over you and you can feel his body warmth emit on your arm. You don’t know why you didn’t ask him another question about you both here alone when the party is clearly downstairs.
His hand is rubbing your inner thigh, his fingers are carefully slipping up your dress and his lips softly brushes against yours so it wasn’t fully a kiss, you didn’t know if you should so you mutter “I thought we were friends now Isagi”
“We are..unless you like me now..?”
“I-i don’t know…” you rubbed your knees together
“We’ll see” he kisses you roughly, honestly he’s trying to at least bruise your lips. You try to take in as much breaths but he doesn’t allow you to, his tongue blocking your airway in your mouth and your breathing heavily through your nose.
As he’s basically consuming you, his hand that was placed in your inner thigh moved towards to your covered pussy. Your hands grasp his arm to stop his fingers massaging your folds through your underwear. When his lips began attacking your neck you whine out his name when you start to feel the heat increase throughout your body, you felt you were gonna melt.
You smelt good as he placed wet kisses on your neck, sucking lightly on your skin leaving colored hues and moved onto another blank space of your skin he could mark. Isagi never thought it’d be easy to get you here, he might’ve thought wrong that you’d be difficult to get you where he needed you to be and he’s only kissing your neck and playing with your pussy behind your panties.
He presses lightly on it and you let out a shattered breath “Right here?” And he starts to rub your clit in circular motion. If you were sober without an drop of alcohol you probably wouldn’t let Isagi have his way with you, but you’re moaning under your breath, your jutting your hips against his hand, your eyes fluttered when he reaches under you rubbing the outside of your cunt.
Your mind getting slightly fuzzy you decided to fall onto your back on the soft bed when you couldn’t hold yourself up anymore. “Come on baby you can’t give up on me now” he takes off your shoes before he climbed onto the bed to spread your legs open.
“I can’t” you shake your head though you’re not kicking back to stop, you let him feel up your sides because his touch is warm and made you feel good, it had to be the alcohol lingering in your system or your feelings for Isagi are starting to come back even though you were helping yourself get over him before you came to this party “I just want you to like me princess” sounding sincere when he places a quick kiss on your lips, he lifts up your dress over your stomach to pull your panties down your hips and off your legs.
He’s caressing your thighs, riling you up and pampering kisses between your inner legs his face drawing dangerously close to your bare pussy. His hands push your thighs nearly to your stomach, giving you a peck on your cunt and the warm wet muscle ghost over your cunt making your breathing harder than it should be.
It was like he was making out with your pussy, his lips and tongue burying deep in your pussylips, his arms were locked around your thighs so you couldn’t pull away, you could only move your lower legs and you writhed on the bed in bliss and constantly moaned his name. “Ah! Isagi!..hah!” You could be as loud as you wanted because the music was loud enough to hide your pathetic whines.
Your hands grip the sheets underneath you until his tongue flicked your clit, sucking on it slow your hand reaches for his dark hair, your fingers tangling through his locks at the top of his head. “Oh-my g-ah!…” you sputtered, he’s still eating you out like a hungry man.
He’s lost into licking and sucking on your sweet pussy, your fingers tugging on his hair and moaning his name is making his dick hard, he’s growing amusement of his licks that are long and slow, dragging up on your clit and his lips wrap around it. Your hips are moving up and down, grinding on his face. If he could have you sit on his face he would but he needed you to cum, cum on his lips.
You started to become more squirmy when you feel your cunt twitch and your clit burning to cum when he sucks harder. Your hand through his hair tightening and your moans were becoming high pitched.
You rolled your head back moaning his name when you feel yourself cum on his mouth, his lips wouldn’t detach from your fluttering pussy and continued to use his mouth until he was ready to be done. After a bit though he didn’t want to work you up on another orgasm so he halted himself from eating you further more.
“You taste so good princess y’know that?” He comes up on top of you and to offer you a sloppy kiss whilst he’s unbuttoning his pants to pull out his hardened cock. You brought your hands behind his neck to keep kissing you more, the taste of yourself lingering on his tongue. you were already defeated when you first came into this room and you let him feel you up, you wanted to beat yourself up for it but you’re too dazed out of your mind to care, kissing Isagi now when you never got to before, you just wanted him in the moment.
Isagi gave himself a couple strokes, he opens your legs for more entry and with no warning your tight walls are being pushed aside by his cock when he slowly sheaved himself in, you gasp loudly by the disturbance of his dick intruding your pussy. Your breathing was shaky and Isagi hisses when you grip him tight and didn’t bother giving you a chance to process his dick inside you when he starts his hungry thrusts.
“Isagi-”
“Sorry princess..i gotta fuck you now” he was so harsh and fast, he was bullying you. The egoists cock was rubbing so relentlessly in your pussy, you’re moaning so much and each time he makes sure he slams his cock deep. He squeezes your tits and he wasn’t soft with them either, he was kneading them in his hand like hard dough.
“I can’t believe you’re letting me fuck you and here I thought you didn’t like me anymore..do you like me now? I know you do” you didn’t have to say yes, he already answered for you, you were too overwhelmed to speak though you could whine with your fingers slightly over your mouth so you could breathe.
He moves your hand out of your face as his thumb slips between your lips into your mouth, the pad of his thumb pressing down on your tongue. “That’s it baby suck on it” your lips wrap around his thumb just like how he had demanded.
You hummed with his thumb in your mouth, batting your pretty eyelashes at him and he grits his teeth with his stamina rising even more from the way you look at him, like you were purposely doing it to get him to fuck you even harder like as he was pounding into you anyways. He couldn’t let you get to him, it had to be the other way around.
“Looking at me like that pretty?-ah!” His cock jerked inside, knowing he was about to release his cum the more he constantly pushed his dick in and out of you. His jaw hung open, panting and moaning when he feels his nerves on fire. As you were about to touch yourself he rubbed your clit with his wet thumb that was settling in your mouth so you both can cum together.
“‘m gonna cum! ‘m gonna cum Isagi!” Isagi is so rough with you, him adding onto more to build your orgasm intensively circling your sweet bud.
Shock takes over his face when your legs wrap around his waist and you pleaded him “please cum inside me! Please Isa-!” Did you just beg him to? He was going to anyway though he didn’t expect you to practically be desperate for it that your legs are secured around his waist. Fuck, why did his heart just sink?
“Y-yeah, I’ll cum right in you, just for you princess” he growled, his last thrust he sunk deep into your spasming walls and his pushed down on your clit. Your eyelids twitched feeling his cum empties in your womb, your body quivered, it felt like stars were floating everywhere around you. “‘ts feels good..f-feels ‘s good” you whined.
Isagi bit his bottom lip gazing at your pretty tired face, This wasn’t how this was supposed to go, he couldn’t keep up his ego anymore. He grew hard again and the only thoughts running through his head was wanting to fuck you again.
How long has it been? Two, four rounds, more? Both your bodies would completely stripped off of clothes, sweat mixing together that his hair was slightly damp. The music still booming loud as ever outside meaning people were still here which you both had completely forgotten since you were both gone into drowning in pleasure. Isagi is still in between your legs, pounding into your swollen pussy that had a brimful of his cum because he came so many times like he was still a starving caveman needing more.
Isagi is so deep into your pussy he forgot what was his motive the whole time, you’re mewling for him to stop but damn you look so pretty, why did he reject you again? He couldn’t even remember anything before he got into this room with you because of the delight of your hot cunt had him hooked. His arms beside your head as he watched you cry from the sensitivity of your previous orgasms he drew out of you. His heart fluttering in his chest when you wrap your arms around his neck and whimper his name.
You both couldn’t think correctly but just thinking about how much it feels like heaven and the need to cum again.
“‘m about to cum again Isagi!” You repeated again before, He nodded while he was also cum again and damn he was so out of energy of pulling orgasm after orgasm, his breaths were shattered, his thrusts were sloppy. His tongue hanging from his mouth like he had fight to finish. “‘m cumming too-fuck!” Another addictive feeling washing over you both at the same time, once again he gives you another bundle of his cum.
Isagi finally caught his breath and noticed your leg’s couldn’t stop trembling. “F-fuck Isagi, I’m shaking…” you murmured. His stomach was in knots and not because he had just came but he was going against his own rules he made up the beginning. His evil scheme had failed when he came down to kiss you again but it was softer, didn’t bother pulling out, he rose back up with straight up determination in his eyes.
“Be my girlfriend..”

🌱🩷: AU where the Reader is Isagi's older sibling and she came to watch him play during the U-20 game. She is the same age as Sae, btw. Let me know if u want a pt2
Warnings: Reader uses she/her. Requests are open
⚽️Blue Lock belongs to Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura⚽️
"I am almost there! Yeah... the game already started?!" (Y/n) stopped in her tracks and took a deep breath as she talked with her mom on the phone.
"Yes, Yo-chan seems to be handling himself very well on the field. But why are you late? I thought you said your exam will only last an hour." The worried Iyo asked from the other side as (Y/n) started running down the street again.
"It was only an hour long. But I completely forgot Yoichi's jersey in my dorm room, and I promised I would wear it." (Y/n) said, smiling down at the blue jersey she was wearing at the moment.
"Ohh... you really can be forgetful at times." Iyo laughed as loud cheers erupted from her side.
"Did something happen?!" (Y/n) asked.
"Did Yoichi score?!"
"Well, someone from his team just scored." Iyo said, causing (Y/n) to sigh in relief.
"Good! I didn't miss his score then... I will be there in a bit! Don't worry!" (Y/n) said and ended the call, sprinting down the street towards the stadium.
'I won't miss is! I swear, Yoichi! I won't miss your score!' She thought to herself.
Once at the stadium, (Y/n) gave the staff her ticket to check it, then ran towards the direction she was instructed to, making sure to avoid the people in the hallway.
'Agh! Where are mom and dad?!' (Y/n) thought as she finally entered the fully packed stadium, but couldn't find her parents anywhere. She looked around nervously, and texted her mom to let her know she had arrived, then looked down at the filed, gripping tightly on the railing as she saw the results on the display.
'3-3?! This can't be for real?! And there isn't much time left either... Yoichi...' She looked down nervously at her younger brother, gripping on the jersey as she noted his exhausted expression. Upon further inspection, the whole Blue Lock team looked pretty distraught and defeated. And while the U-20 team was in a similar condition, they seemed to be in a better head space.
'Yoichi... the World Cup win is your dream, you can't let it go like that... You said you want to become like your idol Noa... And I won't let you miss the opportunity.' She glared at the Blue Lock team, who was arguing among each other and Isagi was just standing to the side. Taking a deep breath, she was greatful for a moment that the place she was at, was located closer to the field.
"ISAGI YOICHI, GET YOUR HEAD INTO THE GAME!!!" (Y/n) yelled, causing a couple, tat was standing next to her, to jump in fright.
The said boy's eyes widened as he heard his sister's voice, and turned to look in her direction.
'Big sis...' Yoichi thought as the rest of his team jumped in surprise.
"The hell?!" Barou and Karasu yelled in shock.
"I SWEAR, IF YOU LET THIS OPPORTUNITY SLIP AWAY! I WILL KICK YOUR ASS!" (Y/n) yelled, her face turning red as Yoichi stared at her in shock for a moment, then his expression softened into a smile.
"Who is that?" Yukimiya wondered, finally spotting the girl.
"Dunno... but she is quite a cutey." Bachira commented.
"Is that a girlfriend of yours, Isagi?" Reo raised an eyebrow as Nagi just sat on the grass, eyeing the girl too.
"GET TOUR HEAD OUT OF THE GUTTER AND PLAY! WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SO NERVOUS ABOUT?! THE TELEVISION CREW?! THOSE OLD HAGS FROM THE JFU?! THE U-20 TEAM?! DON'T PISS ME OFF, AND PLAY!!" (Y/n) finished her yelling as a few tears escaped her eyes, and she stared at her brother with a soft glare. Yoichi was quiet for a moment, then grinned at his sister and sent her a thumbs up, then looked back at his stunned team.
"Well, let's finish this. You heard her, I can't let this opportunity slip away."
The rest of the team stared at Isagi in disbelief, he even received questioning looks from Niko, Chigiri, Otoya, Ego, and Anri from the benches.
"Who... who is she?" Hiori spoke up first.
"Oh that... that's my older sister. She is pretty passionate when it comes to me playing. Even more than I am." Isagi chuckled, smiling fondly as he said the last part. This caused him to get various reactions from the team. Bachira and Hiori were pretty much dumbfounded, Aryu and Reo were sending odd looks towards the girl and then towards Yoichi. Barou tried to act disinterested, Rin glared at the ace, a little jealous when he heard that part.
'Why isn't my brother like that anymore?'
Nagi stared lazily at Isagi, also confused over the whole revelation.
'With how Isagi acts, I really thought je was the older sibling.' The albino wondered. Meanwhile Yukimiya and Karasu went towards Yoichi, both putting their arms on each of his shoulders.
"Yoichi, my friend, my man." Karasu started.
"What?" The boy asked, surprised that he addressed him with his 1st name.
"So your sis... does she have anyone in her life?" The crow-boy asked.
"No... why?" Yoichi asked, eyeing Karasu suspiciously.
"Would she want a handsome, intelligent football player then-"
"Or a charismatic, talented model-"
"As her boyfriend?" The duo finished, causing Yoichi to frown at them.
"Stay away from my sister, you two." Yoichi warned.
"Shut up, let's finish this stupid game." Rin warned them, turning to glare at his brother who was dealing with Shidou's shenanigans.
After she finally calmed down a little, (Y/n) felt her face turn a dark shade of red as she realized what she did.
'This is so embarrassing!! Now everyone internationally saw me act like a fool!' She groaned, covering up her face. For a moment she stayed quiet, feeling eyes on her from the audience.
'But...' She slowly removed her hands, and smiled fondly at her brother's back as the game was resuming from the short break.
'Yoichi is worth it... he has so much potential here. I will remind him, even if I am going to embarrass myself.' (Y/n) thought, wiping a few tears away, for a short moment remembering the times she would sit with a younger Yoichi and watch football with him.
'Become the Noel Noa you always wanted to be.'
"Excuse me." A softer voice interrupted her as she turned to look at the direction it came from, only to find a red haired woman and green haired man lookin at her. They both looked like they were around her mom and dad's age.
"Yes, ma'am?" (Y/n) smiled politely as the woman spoke up nervously.
"This might be a little intrusive, but are you related to one of the players too?"
"Oh... yes, the number 11 and ace of Blue Lock, Isagi Yoichi is my younger brother." (Y/n) smiled proudly as she pointed at her brother.
"That's sweet, how you support him like that. My husband and I are her efor our sons, too."
"Sons?" She wondered, only to receive an answer from the man this time.
"Yeah, the number 10 in Blue Lock, Itoshi Rin and the number 10 in the U-20, Itoshi Sae are our sons." The man smiled warmly as (Y/n) slowly nodded her head.
'Oh to be a fly on the wall in that household once the match ends.' She thought to herself, picking up some small talk while sending constant glances at her brother.
"YOICHI!!!!!! THAT'S MY BROTHER!! THAT'S THE SAME LITTLE BOY I PICKED UP FROM TRAINING!!" (Y/n) cried out in happiness as she pointed at the boy when he scored the winning goal.
'You did it!' She quickly dashed away from the couple and towards the barricades to get to Yoichi, who was getting praises from his teammates and some U-20 members.
"Yoichi!!" (Y/n) yelled as the boy turned away from Oliver and looked at his sister. Yoichi grinned and left his team.
"See! Never doubt me!" Yoichi grinned, pulling his sister into a hug.
"I never doubted you, idiot! I am so glad you scored that goal! It was magnificent!" She sobbed, hugging her brother tightly. As the two siblings were hugging and talking, the rest of Blue Lock's team approached slowly.
"Why were you so late tho? And why were you with mom and dad?" Yoichi asked in worry as he pulled his sister onto the field.
"I was late because I forgot the jersey in my dorm room, and I seemed to have gotten a seat far away from where our parents are." (Y/n) chuckled nervously as Yoichi looked at the jersey, only now noticing it had his number.
"Ah? You went all the way for me?" Yoichi asked, happiness bubbling up inside of him.
"Of course! Remember when we were younger? I promised to wear your jersey for every match." She smiled.
"Ah! You still remember that-"
"Uhh, Isagi~ don't you want to introduce us?" The two Isagi siblings jumped up at Otoya's voice, and (Y/n) looked over at the team in surprise while Yoichi sent them warning glares.
"Big sis, my team. Team, this is my big sis." Yoichi said dryly as (Y/n) smiled at the team nervously, remembering some of the faces from her previous yelling.
"Hello, it's nice to meet Yo-chan's team." She spoked up, the team never once blinking or looking away.
"Sorry for the yelling earlier-"
"No need to apologize!" Karasu spoke up and walked up to her, followed by Otoya and Yukimiya.
"Being yelled at by a pretty lady is a privilege in my books." Yukimiya smiled down at her, causing (Y/n) to internally swoon a little.
'He is so good looking!'
"Feel free to yell at me all you want, too." Otoya added in, grabbing one of her hands.
"Hey! Watch it!" Yoichi yelled, but got pulled away by Bachira and Hiori.
"Up close, your older sister is pretty cute, Isagi." Bachira whispered to his friend.
"Bachira, what the hell man?"
"He is right tho." Hiori defended the bumblebee.
"Is your sis into games?" The blue-haired boy asked.
"Is she into younger guys?" Niko asked Yoichi, sending the girl some nervous looks.
"Niko, she is 18." Yoichi argued.
"Just 3 years."
"Absolutely not." Yoichi glared, trying to get out of Bachira's hold.
"You all are being so weird." Chigiri sighed, walking over to the small group. Yoichi sighed in relief as he heard the redhead's voice.
"Thank you for thinking rationally, Chigiri-"
"We all know I am the only one who has any chance with Isagi's sister. We are both cute." Chigiri finished and flipped his hair.
"Nevermind." Yoichi grumbled and watched as his sister complimented Gagamaru's goalkeeper skills, while Aryu pulled a nervous Tokimitsu to talk to her. Barou was standing next to her, adding in some random sentences.
Yoichi tried to get out of Bachira's hold again, but it was proven futile as the other four, plus Nagi now, started asking him about his sister. Meanwhile Reo took his chance and just went over to talk to her, curious if the older Isagi will be left in awe when she hears his last name.
Meanwhile, Rin was staring at the two Isagi siblings, and then looked back at his brother, jealousy slowly bubbling up inside of him again.

It's a follow up post for this, but this post makes sense on its own too.
I have always been the younger sibling, so I can't understand an older sibling's feelings, but I wonder if Sae gets glimpses of what things used to be; if he sees Rin when the younger one isn't paying attention, and just reminiscences when they were kids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Way too many things are going on during the U-20 arc, so it's not uncommon for the readers to miss something especially if they are binge reading it. That's why, I never actually saw people talking about the fact that we DID, in a way, get a reason why Sae chose Shidou out of all the Blue Lock-ers.
Tumblr media
However, we didn't get this from a Narrator's POV or Sae's POV, that's why we can't FULLY trust it, so it makes me think if Sae chose Shidou because he couldn't choose Rin. Sae might've thought that there wasn't a better way to test out Rin until and unless he went against him instead of alongside.
Which brings me this panel again:
Tumblr media
Rin in that panel just.. I don't know how to articulate it. "I saw what I came for, and I'm satisfied." Was Sae talking about Rin?
Further, I think Sae got fired up when he heard Shidou was going to play too because he wanted to rub it on Rin's face like, "Look, I'm siding with him. I'm passing to him and not you. He is better than you that's why." And I believe that he was doing it purposely.
I'll explain why, look here:
Tumblr media
The above panel was before Rin went berserk, and you can clearly see that he was still trying to be like Sae. Like his Nii-chan.
But when he got free from this thing that was holding him back as he says, he went into his flow and ho, ho, ho, look what he said:
Tumblr media
He became himself instead of being someone of somebody.
Also, during the time he was going into his flow state, this is what his inner monologue said:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Him going batshit crazy actually stole the spotlight from everything. It's clearly a new perspective of that flashback, and after that Sae was completely attentive to Rin. It was almost as if Sae WAS expecting this to happen, yet the intensity of it caught him off guard for a while too.
After that the focus of the game just became Sae Vs Rin, and the older Itoshi continued to rile the younger one by saying, "You still don't get it? You can't be the best in the world," and lalalalalalala.
HOWEVER,
This thing low-key took off the attention from the fact that Sae didn't pass to anyone during that time. He went along with Rin in their 1V1, and this thing was also pointed out by the news article where it said something along the line of, "The internet says Sae held the ball for too long and he should've passed." (Chapter 152)
It has to be purposely.
It was Rin who stole the ball from him and Isagi got to hit it.
Further, this:
Tumblr media
It's giving new perspective to everything now. Also, he says, "Nii-chan." It seems like a trivial thing to point out, but if you know, you know.
That's why, I kinda think that Sae knows that his words affects Rin a lot. That's why he praised Isagi, so that Rin wouldn't forget/lose his Ego. It makes more sense since in the same chapter (152), Rin says like, "In that moment, I won against Nii-chan." Which is true, he stole the ball, but his ending words of that monologue was, "But Isagi gained everything. He (Sae) recognised him and not me."
But what if Sae had recognised Rin verbally?
I bet Rin would've lost his new found real Ego, and would've ended up like Nagi did when he scored against Isagi in the BM Vs Manshine City match.
So, I think Sae wants Rin to be Rin. Not Itoshi Sae's younger brother Rin, but the real Rin because Sae didn't want him to be a mirror image of him since he wasn't enough in world stage of soccer.
Personally, I'm sorry for mixing my own emotions, but I have went through what Rin went through. No, I wasn't completely starstruck by my older sibling like him, but I indeed felt really humiliated, and that humiliation actually helped me improve. Everything is fine now, we got more trauma in our life, so we bonded over it and we are chill af now, but, deep in my heart, a little girl will always be present with a mild, gentle resentment for being treated unkindly.
That's why I think that Sae did what he had to do to help Rin improve which sadly, costed them their brotherhood.
I know I'm slightly backtracking from this post.
But I do want to believe that whatever Sae did, he did it FOR Rin and NOT for their shared dream to be the best striker in the world.
For a sports animanga, Rin-Sae relation is actually way complicated and deep. I hope Kaneshiro-san will do justice to everything.
But in the end, they are fictional and their realities will become whatever the author wants it to be.
Till then, we can only speculate.
.
.
.
It'd be funny if they go into therapy together and their trauma is just:

isagi is depicted as 18+ here
Tumblr media
There's no doubt that Isagi would be an attentive lover. Just as he was observant on the playing field, so would he be as he was making love to you.
So when you two were still new to having sex with each other, he'd take it slow. He would take note of each movement and each spot made you mewl in pleasure. He'd try to remember what made you claw and dig your nails further into his back, what made you moan the loudest, what had your eyes rolling to the back of your head, what had your legs shaking, what had them wrapping around his waist the tightest, and most of all, he'd pay special attention to what left tears in your eyes.
The first time he saw you cry as he pleasured you, he immediately stopped and asked if you were okay. He was worried that he was hurting you. Yet, you shook your head and pressed on for him to keep going. You assured him that it was all just too good- that HE was making you feel this good. From then on, he would never forget the excitement and pride he'd felt the moment you said that.
Therefore, you can say he was especially attentive to your expressions. He described that one of his weaknesses was "looking too much at other’s expressions" (in his character file), but it's ironic how often he'd be using that skill to his advantage when it came to you. He wouldn't even realize it.
Because of this, I think he'd enjoy positions where he can face you and clearly see the looks that you were making on your face. Positions like missionary, cowgirl, and especially mating press would probably be his favorite.
After having done the act a couple more times, he'd come to the point where he finally felt that he had your reactions and expressions thoroughly memorized. A sort of, "I see" or "I get it now", moment, just like the ones he would have during a match. (And that's how you know when shit’s about to go down. Isagi is about to get his way and this would be the end for you.)
You appreciated that he took it slow, it was all for your sake, wasn't it? Well, sure. Indeed it was. But honey, you’d be wrong to think that was his only reason for taking his time with you. He needed to know the exact spots that drew out those delicious reactions from you so that you’d feel them a hundred times more when he’d eventually choose to absolutely wreck you, fucking you even harder and burying himself deeper inside you at relentless speeds. He'd do this to the point that you were bawling your eyes out and begging, overwhelmed by the way he was bullying your cunt. All of your pleas and begging would fall onto deaf ears as he continued to have his way with you (though, he would seriously stop if you used your safe word).
If he's in a particularly bad mood and you whine things like, "I can't" or "it's too much", he'll tell you to shut your mouth. After all, you're his good girl. He knows you can take it, so why are you lying to yourself? "shut the fuck up", he'd say. Otherwise, he’d do it for you (either with his thick fingers or his cock). You couldn’t tell whether that was a threat or invitation, the way his words gave you a jolt of excitement and made you become more wet. You wouldn’t mind either way.
The funny thing is– after all these things this guy would have made you go through, he’d immediately apologize to you when you both were finished. While both of you are recovering from the deed, he'd turn to you, rubbing his thumb gently on your flushed cheeks. “Ah, I was too rough on you wasn’t I?”, looking at you with worry in his eyes. “...sorry, love" he'd say softly, and would continue to mutter numerous “I’m sorry’s” while lightly kissing the bruised marks he created on your body. He'd then ask what you needed to feel better or get comfortable.
And whatever you said you needed, he'd get. You need some water? He’s already rushing to the kitchen to bring you a glass. You need a towel to dry off? He’s gonna dry your body off for you. You need a massage? Don’t worry, he’s got you.
But… if you say that you need his cock stuffed inside you again? Well then, good luck. Even if you said that as a joke, you’ve already re-awakened the monster inside him and you’re gonna be in for an even longer night. You really aren’t trying to walk for the rest of the week, huh? Also, be prepared for your eyes to be swollen the next morning after all those tears you’ve cried, cause he would have been fucking you as if there was no tomorrow.
Basically, I see Isagi initially being a soft/service dom, but turning out to be a bit of a mean dom sometimes as well. This doesn't mean that he'd never be gentle with you at all though.
If Isagi’s been through a long day and you offer to help him de-stress, he'll let you take the reins and allow you to have your way with him. Suck him off and he'll hold the side of your face tenderly as you pleasure him, gazing at you with eyes filled with such love and admiration for you. He'd wonder how he got so lucky landing such a pretty thing as you
He'll be mean when you become bratty or have been teasing him the whole day. Or even when you try to get certain reactions from him as well, he'll try to upstage you. He's a competitive guy both in and out of the bedroom.
I also see him being an eager lover too. Like, he'd look through porn vids to see what other positions and things he can try out with you. Whatever could increase the pleasure for the both of you, he'd want to do it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: Yeah, I know Isagi is a rather nice guy in general, but you've gotta admit, there's another side of him that can be a bit more brutal. Like, have you seen him the moment he saw Niko crying? This dude was fucking ecstatic. All, "kimochi ii" and shit, goodness gracious 💀 n e wayz, hope y'all enjoyed cuz I sure did (LOL)

I didn't want to give too much weight to Hiiragi's tarot reading schtick. Yet, it's an author insert moment, and Kaneshiro loves foreshadowing. I have a worrying feeling that these fortunes may hold true for Chigiri, Barou and Nagi.
Full disclosure: I know very little about tarot, but did some high level reading through Wikipedia and other sources.
Tumblr media
Chigiri gets the 15th card of the Major Arcana, the Devil. In the official translation, Hiiragi notes this to represent seduction, betrayal and ruin. Oof.
The obvious connection is to Chigiri's leg—the fortune could be tied to how he was seduced by football, became addicted to it, but will subsequently be betrayed by his leg... leading to ruin.
The Devil tarot card doesn't normally show a bomb, so this is for dramatic effect. Thematically, it implies that Chigiri should find purpose (or know where to seek it) beyond football, ahead of the day his luck runs out. 🥺 Not the outcome I want for our princess, but a second ACL injury has long been speculated by fans. Chigiri himself is aware that it's a risk when playing at this level.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Barou chooses number 12, the Hanged Man. Hiiragi cherry-picks his interpretation; in addition, this card is associated with motifs of self-sacrifice, learning, and change in perspective. It can also be interpreted as a voluntary state, rather than something that befalls a person.
It's a good fit for Barou, who doesn't double down on his ego so much as grow to show why he's deserving of his nickname in the first place. Barou is a king on the pitch, and expects a level of servitude from his teammates, but not without constantly improving his own skills and talent. He's no lazy despot, though despot he may be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Hanged Man fortunes supports his emotional outburst during the Ubers match. Barou remarks that he needs the challenge of despair to grow. As such, the trials he puts on himself are deliberate, much like the tarot reading suggests.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nagi gets #13, Death (because of course he does). This fortune seems to be the most thoughtful of the bunch, unsurprisingly. Hiiragi's interpretation, while intended to provoke Nagi above all, holds up well against what little I've read on tarot.
The Wikipedia page for the Death arcana had some additional nuggets of insight, or rather further ammunition for those of us manifesting a second NagiReo divorce:
Tumblr media
Reo is frequently referred to as princely and compared to royalty in the series, with his superfluous wealth and the way he confidently takes on leadership roles among teams. His signature colour, purple, has monarchial associations due to how rare and expensive purple pigments are in nature (prior to the invention of synthetic dyes).
Of course Reo, this royal youth, opposes Nagi's desire to change... seemingly at every hurdle.
Tumblr media
It's not deliberate sabotage though, more that they're hamstrung by their co-dependency. Unlike almost every other relationship in Blue Lock, which arose from rivalry or a shared desire to improve, Nagi and Reo's friendship is rooted in the naive promises they made before entering the programme. @thyandrawrites had a great post exploring this recently, which I recommend if you want to delve deeper into the reasons for their underperformance in the Neo Egoist league.
My take is, in essence, if these two could agree to remain friends while moving away from being inseperable on the pitch, they'd both flourish.
Back to tarot: Wikipedia also has a tidbit on reversed cards, which I understand aren't a hardwired aspect of reading tarot (it refers to physical cards that are revealed upside down after being shuffled and dealt). The interpretation Wikipedia gives of an inverted Death card is reminiscent of Nagi's status after he plays against Isagi and Bastard München.
In short: Nagireo bad for one another, and Nagi will undergo quite the metamorphosis in his journey through Blue Lock, if this fortune holds.
---
Analysis aside, I wouldn't put too much faith into what these fortunes mean for the characters. Tarot itself isn't immutable, and for every motif listed above, the characters also have other tropes influencing the paths they take. For example, Chigiri shares the whole hero/princess trope with Kunigami, which has more plot significance than his leg injury at present. Nagi embodies the role of a natural prodigy who has neither the knowledge or experience to deploy his talents consistently. Barou embodies an villain or anti-hero archetype, when juxtaposed with Isagi. Each character has more to the eye than a simple playing card can reveal which is why I'm here yapping at length about them during my lunch break

Title: Between Thunder And Balls
Itoshi Rin x gn!reader
Tumblr media
Genre: fluff, humor, friends to .. yes.
Summary: a disastrous football game with your friends had you with one foot in hell or — how Itoshi Rin let you know that he too, can have a soft spot. Small as a molecule, but it's there.
Warnings: dumb humor combined with mid writing, beautiful characters may cause aftershock, loss of brain cells — performed by professionals, do not try at home
Notes: hey, it's my first ever Blue Lock fic! I really tried my best and hope you guys will like it. It's based off one of the polls I made. Also, I apologize in advance for accidentally ooc-ing the characters 🥹
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Oi Bachira, pass the ball."
A crazed look and an, "Alright," later was all it took for you to hear the sound of loud cheering. Isagi had striked yet another goal in combination with Bachira's pass.
No, this wasn't a serious game against a strong opponent. No, this wasn't a practice game either. It was a simple 'just-for-fun' game with their good old friend, you.
You, who was currently sat at the edge of the football field, watching quietly upon their wish for you to play with them. You had promised them to join in and kick the oversized egg a little bit after looking at their tactics.
You knew. Deep down you knew how exhausting things were going to be because at the end of the day, an out of the ordinary 'just-for-fun' game won't stay that simple. These men turned into monsters on the field, no matter your presence or not.
Isagi's words of affirmation still rang in your head like a mantra. "We will go easy on you. Trust us," Followed by that golden smile of his and an, "You can't possibly do any harm y/n, come on it'll be fun."
Hmmn, sure. They might go easy on you but they won't go easy on the person to suffer the consequences of future occurrences. And you? You won't be able to feel anything at all after facing the wrath of said unlucky person. At least that's what your ever living imagination tries to tell you.
I mean after all, we're talking about a man with centipedes as eyelashes. Dangerous breed. Do not touch. Definitely bites.
But enough of that, let's get to the point where the fiasco began to take place, shall we?
After everyone took a sip of their drinks, Chigiri, who was also there, jogged over to where you sat to lend you his hand to pull you up from the ground. Gosh, how much you wanted to go home. Why did you agree again? Probably to feed their ego a little further.
It didn't take long for Chigiri to notice that you were anything but ready to join their little escapade. But if he opted to say something, he stopped himself shortly before speaking. Instead, he patted your shoulder a few times in assurance before he ran off again.
Bachira wore a smile so huge, you were sure it made the sun shine just a little brighter. Contrary to the good weather on your side of the field, you were sure it was close to a thunderstorm on the other half. Rin's frown sat so deep, you swore thunder could strike you alive if only you dared to get closer. Dark rainy clouds ready to let hell rain upon you and your 'team'.
A bummer, really.
The sound of someone clearing their throat pulled you out of your torturous thoughts, "You know the most important rules, do you?"
Ah, it was Isagi. The lord and savior.
You shot him a smal yet nervous smile, "Yes.... I think?"
An exchange of reassuring smiles and a chuckle from Isagi settled the start of the game.
Things have been going well so far, the boys spared you for the first few minutes and passed the ball among themselves, giving you the opportunity to warm up to their tempo.
Bachira scored once, Nagi scored the second one and suddenly the ball was in your possession. Everything was at your mercy, the boys on the other side of the field looked ready to turn you into a ball of their own and your mind? Went blank.
Rin, who had long stopped paying attention due to his explanation, "Letting a beginner play football is lukewarm, I don't see the point," completely missed the object flying at a crazy speed. Oh what were the odds.
And then it happened. Lightening stroke, the sound of thunder followed and you were sure the gates to hell opened with the vip lounge all empty just for you. A glass of soda with the name, "I'm a star," waiting for you to devour.
The devious laughter and occasional outbursts of, "The best shot I've ever seen," and "Y/n, didn't know you had it in you," followed by, "Welcome to your team, Messi," around you became louder the second the ball fell from the back of Rin's head to the cold, hard ground with a defeating thud. Oh really, what were the odds.
The man of the hour himself spared you of any reaction, or so you thought but what did a smart person once say? Sometimes second thoughts are better than no thoughts because the next second you swore, your breath didn't only hitch, no. It got snatched. Scratch that, he had your lungs dancing on his fingertips.
The glare he shot you, as his head turned around ever so slowly, the way his gaze met yours and you felt like being trapped in a snowstorm in the midst of summer, was something you would've never dreamt of receiving.
You, who just wanted to go home.
A small gasp escaped your lips as you turned to search for the help of any of your 'comrades' with flailing arms but they weren't of any help at all. Most of them didn't even try to stifle their giggles and you knew, you were busted. You had a feeling Rin already strongly disliked you beforehand but now you were sure you were the first on his 'elimination' list.
It didn't help that you heard slow but steady footsteps coming your way. And damn, how long has he been walking without you noticing? His figure became clearer the more steps he took and the only thing you could do was smile at him, give him the brightest smile you could muster.
De nial is a river in Egypt and you were taking a swim in it. You didn't aim at his head, the ball didn't even touch him in the slightest. His head is fully functioning and you're sure you haven't just unintentionally stolen thousands of brain cells of his. What's a brain to begin with?
Teal eyes looked down on your form as the person they belonged to came to a stop in front of your slightly trembling body. Your time has come, you're ready to descend to the flaming pits of hell. But the change of temperature never came?
Rin's hand must've moved on instinct but it didn't matter, not right now. That very same hand of his found place on your head, patting it once, twice and then letting it fall. A ghost of a touch still lingering after.
His frown didn't falter one bit and you were sure the thunderstorm didn't stop thundering either but in that moment you learnt that, around you, he had space for a small ray of sunshine. A ray so small, it disappeared as soon as it arrived as he made his way around you in threatening speed. Already charging at the others for laughing at him so shamelessly.
Maybe, it wasn't all too bad to stay for a little game. As for the others, they should've kept their mouths shut.

Some language and translation trivia from episode nagi
So, I recently reread episode nagi 1-3 in japanese, and since I enjoy translation trivia a lot, I thought I would compile all my observations in a post. Please don’t take this too seriously! While I do have a language degree, I’m not a professional translator. In no way this is meant as a dig towards the professionals working on the official release! These are just some fun facts I thought I’d share.
without further ado, let’s delve into it!
On top of his already limited (kinda childish) vocabulary, Nagi’s speech bubbles often forgo complex kanji and favor writing the words out in hiragana. He sometimes does the same with (foreign) words that should be written out in katakana (example: Barou’s beloved “king”). We know this is a quirk of Nagi’s because he sometimes uses kanji for the same words. The most notable example is his favorite one, mendoukusai, “hassle”—mostly written in hiragana, sometimes shortened, sometimes elongated for dramatic, whiny emphasis, and rarely written out in kanji.
Since kanji are taught by grade in japanese schools, the foregoing them in a certain character’s lines can hint that the guy doesn’t have a higher education. However, in Nagi’s case, I think it’s meant to make him come across as unsophisticated or a bit childish. Or maybe just lazy. I think the former, though, considering how all his compliments always circle back to the same, like, 4 juvenile variations of "amazing".
(more under a cut for length):
Still on the topic of speech patterns, Nagi talks in plain form. For those who don't know what that means, it's an informal register, very common between teens. Nagi seems to use it with his elders, too, though, and that's a bit less common. You're supposed to talk in polite form to strangers and to your elders. Then again, pretty much everyone in blue lock talks that way. There's not a lot of respect for your elders in this series. Or for your peers, lol
As for Reo, he talks in male speech! Still very much informal and common, particularly between rowdy teens, but if plain form can still be acceptable in a lot of social situations, male speech is distinctly cocky, self-confident and impolite, so not what you'd expect from the distinguished heir of a billionaire who prides himself as a businessman in the making, ahah. He talks that way to Ego as well, btw.
Both of them tend not to use honorifics. Reo more so. In all three volumes, Reo used them once, to calm Nagi down while he was angry at Barou. Nagi mostly goes without too, but he sometimes uses them, when the situation calls for it, or a bit ironically. If you're curious, here's what I noticed: he uses "san" for Baa-ya when talking to her (when he leaves Choki in her care), but not when he's talking to Reo about her. He calls Zantetsu "dentist-san" when the latter drops his backstory, and "Zantetsu-kun" when the guy scores after listening to Reo's advice. And when all three finally link up, Nagi tacks on a "sama" to Reo's name while calling him a king (in the chess sense. Fun fact, it might or might not have been a pun, since Reo's name contains the kanji for king btw). That's pretty much it for epinagi so far. He just uses surnames without honorifics (or nicknames) for everyone else normally. Same for Reo.
When talking to Nagi, Reo refers to his mother as 母親 (hahaoya, "mom") and to his father as 親父 (oyaji, "old man, pops") and クソ親父 (kuso oyaji, "shitty old man") respectively. Idk if that changes when he's talking to them tho, as he hasn't yet in epinagi. But so far his contempt seems to be only directed at his father.
Upon seeing Kira, Reo describes him as "Japan's gem", but the word he uses for "gem" is 宝 (takara), treasure, pretty much the same he uses for Nagi (= 宝物 takaramono, or treasured thing, prized possession). Hence Nagi looking up, unimpressed:
Tumblr media
To check out what the fuss was about. His face dhsvbdhdhdhsbs When Nagi thinks Reo's talking about Isagi, then, Reo corrects him by pointing his face toward Kira and saying not the dark-haired one, but that "really good looking guy". He calls him an ikemen btw, lmao.
I'm not sure if this was in the eng version too, but Reo calls Nagi and Zantetsu's team up the "neet combo". It's pretty self-explanatory how this relates to Nagi, but I wonder what about Zantetsu screamed "neet" to him.
When Zantetsu adamantly refuses to take Reo's advice, Reo gets super mad and calls him "obaka-sama", which. I can't with his pettiness ahah. Okay, let me explain. He's tacking on an honorific prefix ("o") and the highest honorific suffix ("sama") to an insult. 😂😂 Normally, you use honorifics to pay respect to and elevate the status of whatever or whoever you're tacking them on to. In this case, Reo's using them sarcastically, but he goes extra out of the way to be scathing. Zantetsu hates being called an idiot, but Reo feels he's acting unreasonable with his holier-than-thou attitude, so he upgrades his regular insult to mock that, basically. He's more or less saying, "oh great, revered moron".
Not a linguistic trivia, but. Nagi has a weekly planner for his bread eating habits. The day Reo joins his class to spy on him was a tuesday, cause tuesdays are melon bread days.
When he's making a confident remark, Reo occasionally speaks with a sing-song in his voice.
During the match against team X, Barou mocks Reo and Nagi's coordination and mutual dependence with a jab. He calls them a couple who wear matching outfits. Still laughing about this one tbh
now onto my favorite one
Tumblr media
Ever wondered why Nagi’s response here doesn’t come across as reassuring to Reo? Well, I think I have finally figured it out!
While the translation above is 100% correct, I feel like the miscommunication lies in a matter of contextual ambiguity. When Reo says, quote, “You were supposed to team up with me,” in japanese it’s more like, “But teaming up with me is a must!” To which Nagi replies, “You and I are going to be the best in the world. That’s a must.”
The theme (=what is being talked about) of Reo’s sentence is the “must” (zettai) part. Meaning, something that is absolute, unconditional. Reo is making a conjecture, the assumption that they’ll work with each other as they promised, but he’s also implicitly expecting Nagi to agree. He’s saying our combo is the unchangeable condition here. You know this.
Nagi responds with something he means as reassuring, as a confirmation that he has their promise in mind. But since he echoes Reo’s word choice (zettai), and applies it to something else, it comes across wrong, more like he’s correcting Reo on what the “must” actually is. Not teaming up with each other until the end like Reo posits, but the simple agreement that they’ll be world class one day. With or without each other.
This miscommunication is made worse by the fact that Reo’s declared ego is making Nagi the best striker in the world. So when Nagi follows this with a remark about how their team up wasn’t the strongest, Reo of course takes the “correction” to mean “someone else can better help me become the best instead of you. bye. nice hanging out with you till now. see you at the world cup, xoxo”
Simply put, Nagi thought he was explaining himself, but what he got across was that he was rejecting Reo’s ego altogether and moving on. That’s why the art then shows Reo’s ego chains falling apart.
When Bachira asks Nagi if he’s secretly the “super cold type” right after leaving for the 3v3, in japanese it’s a neat, direct callback to the scene in chapter 2 where Nagi tells Reo he's okay with him teaming up with someone stronger than himself, and Reo calls that “heartless.” Both times the word used is the same, 薄情  (hakujou), cold-hearted, heartless, though iirc it was translated differently in english
They both say they feel lonely after their split up. Nagi in response to Bachira’s line as per the previous point (here’s a post I made about it a while back). And Reo when he thinks about Nagi’s change in chapter 13 and says he feels lonely, scared and weak. I will go down with the idea that they’re each other’s first friend.
Ending this on a less sad note, when Rin calls Bachira “bowlcut”, the original phrasing reads okappa, from the mythical creature’s hairstyle. Now please google what an okappa looks like, lmao

"i remember it all too well" prt. 1
Tumblr media
sypnosis: a reminiscence of a love once cherished
features: bachira, rin, reo, sae, isagi, nagi
a/n: i need to stop playing hsr its consuming almost all hours of my life n e ways here's bllk boys w some lyrics from all to well (10 mins version)(taylor's version) 😧 also ☝ angst is not my forte i apologize if the angst parts seemed off i tried my best 😞 HAHAHAHAHA
Tumblr media
“you almost ran the red 'cause you were lookin' over at me”
bachira meguru was an eccentric lover. he likes to have fun and takes you on dates you’d never even expect. one time, during your second date, he took you out to go bungee jumping. you were frozen on the platform for 30 minutes while he was down there, cheering you on with a stupid smile on his face and his phone recording you.
right now, you guys are on the way home after a day at a cat cafe. they were really cute but their fur all over you was not cute at all. you look out the window, admiring the view as the car sped through the road. you hold back a laugh as you pass by a squirrel falling down a tree with its acorn stuck in the branch. you turn to tell bachira when you notice he’s already looking at you.
“eyes on the road!”
“i got my eye on you.” and to push it further, he points two fingers in your direction. sighing lighty, you shove his face to turn to the road. “you can eye me later if we don’t die.”
bachira whips his head to look at you accusingly. “excuse me?! my driving skills are maxed out, you know. and besides, who’s the one with the license between us, huh? that’s right. me. bachira megu–” “yeah, yeah. shut up.” you try to shush him however that seemed to only seethe him more. more screams of fury and annoyance comes from bachira. you were only seconds away from tuning him out when you saw the traffic light glow red. immediately, you urged bachira to step on the brakes. with the panic in your voice, he abides at once.
now at a stop sign, deep breaths coming from the two of you fill the vehicle. giggles and laughter following after. “oh my god, stop laughing, meguru.” he halts his laughter. playfully gesturing a zipper over his lips yet the obvious grin on his face gives it away.
“can we both agree to always keep an eye on the road now?”
“yes, ma’am… got my other eye on you tho.”
“bachira.”
Tumblr media
“you taught me 'bout your past, thinking your future was me”
getting into a relationship wasn’t in itoshi rin’s bucket list. or any list really. never did he think that he’ll be here at 3am in the morning, on his bed, with you, and he’s telling you all about him. from the very first time he held a soccer ball to the day sae left for spain. he confided in you, hiding no side of his self and showing you all and even letting you see through him completely.
“so, this is it?” the air was cold. breaking up on a december night? it almost makes him laugh. he’d fight for it but.. what was the point? this is the ending of a lover story. your love story. if he tries to change the ending, who knows what could happen next? you stay with him out of pity? or you get tired and all goes in a circle once more. he stays silent. not uttering one word and maybe that set you off because you dragged a hand down your face. he observes you for the first time in weeks. you look really tired and if letting this end would make you happy then so be it.
he walks past you and that leaves you baffled. so he’s just leaving, you think to yourself. chest aching and hands itching to reach out, but you don’t. because if he’s walking away without a word, what are the chances he’ll hear you out?
“oh god, i never thought it could end up like this.” rin hears you whisper to yourself as he grabs his coat and makes his way to the door. he bites on his lips, urging the tears brimming his eye to not fall. not now. as he strolls through the park, he mutters to himself. “neither did i.” but you weren’t there to hear him. only the moon knows.
Tumblr media
“we're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light”
loving mikage reo was unexpected and something you’re grateful for. he’s the best boyfriend one could ever ask for. he fell in love with you at first sight when you took his coffee order at the cafe down the block. the continues to visit the coffee shop with a bouquet of flowers dedicated for you everyday until you give him your number.
cravings at midnight are common. you had them a lot so sneaking out of reo’s arms became something you’re skilled at. tiptoeing towards the fridge, you rummage through every shelf to find something to eat. a yelp escapes you as you felt cold hands slid under your shirt. reo’s laughter breaks your shock, turning to hit him in the chest. that just seems to make him laugh more.
“hi, sweetheart. what are you doing?” he smiles like he did nothing wrong. you scowl at him before turning to rummage through the fridge once again. “i’m hungry. i wanna eat.”
“oh? should we just order then?” reo asks you, pulling out his phone and opening a delivery app.  he was about to click on an item until your hand blocks his phone while you stare him down with a glare. “reo, your fridge is full to the brim. baa-ya even had to push things in the pantry ‘cause there’s no more space!”
“come on, use your inside voice inside the house.” like the smooth man he is, he cuddles you in his arms, swaying the both of you side by side. only to stop when you pinch his side. “ow! what was that for?”
“don’t dance with me when the fridge door is open!”
“but it’s romantic!”
“an overpriced electricity bill isn’t!”
“you’re not even the one paying the bills–ow!”

!!MINORS DO NOT INTERACT!!
Tumblr media
clingy
nagi seishiro x reader
word count: 827
Tumblr media
Nagi is often easily bored. He always finds himself either dozing off or fidgeting with his thumbs against his phone. Everything feels like too much effort, to the point it can tend to come across as concerning. He had the terrible habit of draping himself over you, always tossing his arms over your shoulders and slinging his weight against your back. He was always careful when doing it, always so gentle to be sure he didn’t knock you clean off your feet when he decided to use you as a rest to tide him over until he could find a more permanent spot to sit.
It was a habit he always had, something he did often to people he felt close to or wanted to be close with. The first time he had done it to you nearly caused Reo to scream and fall to his knees as if he wasn’t quite literally in the middle of a game. You were simply help, just a staff member of Blue Lock that aided the boys during their stay. Nagi just found himself drawn towards you whenever possible. Every single time you were close he was hanging off you like a lost dog until he just started throwing himself on you.
The weight on your back was comforting in a way; Nagi’s strong arms over your shoulders and loosely hanging onto himself while he sunk down into you, letting the ridiculous heat he radiated soak through your clothes and heat you to your core. It only started to be a problem when he began interrupting your work. Speaking to Isagi? Nagi suddenly needed to be clinging to you. Chigiri wanted help fixing his hair while his hands were wet? Nagi starts pulling on the hem of your shirt and huffing. His biggest tantrums always happened when Barou was around, which was relatively often.
Barou took a lot of care to keep himself in top condition, so he was never shy to walk up to you when he needed something, whether that be a refill of his water, a towel, or anything else. It drove Nagi up the wall. He didn’t fully get it, not even a little bit, why it made him want to kick Barou right in his chest as the striker got down lower to let you feel his shoulder after he slammed into Kunigami a bit too hard during a practice drill. It made him ball his fists up and huff and puff while watching, not picking up a single word that Reo was saying to him the entire time, just focusing on the push of your fingers into Barou’s shoulder, under his shirt, speaking to him so softly while making sure he wasn’t in any pain and it was just sore for the upcoming bruise.
Nagi didn’t know what was coming over him while he walked over, a flare of green creeping up in the edges of his vision when Barou flexed his back to let you check further, and Nagi suddenly threw himself into your side, his arms wrapping tight around you to yank your hands away from Barou so he could begin whining something incomprehensible about his ankle being sore. He was lying, of course, but what else was he supposed to do when you were fawning over Barou’s imaginary injury? Just let that buffoon do that to you? He could never.
Barou gets ready to jump down Nagi’s throat until he sees the white haired layabout grabbing at your shirt as he whines and sways about on his ‘injured’ ankle and he quickly gathers what’s going on, grumbling about how he’ll make someone else go get his ice while he stalks away.
“Shiro, you can’t just grab me away from my work. It’s my job to help take care of you guys.” You try to brush his hands off of you, but Nagi just tightens his grip on your clothes.
“I don’t want you to take care of anyone else. I want you to take care of me and only me.” He pouts while he says it, and you consider telling him that he looks absolutely adorable.
“Nagi, that isn’t how it works. I know you prefer me over the other staff, but-”
“I don’t prefer you. I need you.” Seishiro cuts you off, his chest puffing up. “Be mine only, okay? Then everything is fine.”
You stare at Nagi in shock as blood rushes to your face, and right when you’re able to nurse the air back to your lungs, he throws himself onto you. Nagi is a big guy, easily dwarfing an awful lot of people, and his arms easily encircle you and squeeze while his weight droops down onto you, smothering you in his heat.
“All mine.”
“Mhm,” you close your eyes and wrap your arms around his waist in return, finally allowing yourself to really be as close as he’s wanted you to be, “whatever you want. Yours.”

🌱🩷: this is dramatic for absolutely no reason. Icb😭 pt2
Warnings: Reader uses she/her. Reader is Isagi's older sister here. Requests are open
⚽️Blue Lock belongs to Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura⚽️
"I hope you go to hell." (Y/n) sent Oliver a side-glare, as the boy chuckled and moved closer to her as they walked down the street.
"Come on, (Y/n). You know you missed our dates~"
"Oh yes... I completely missed all the times you would ignore me to flirt with a waitress." The older Isagi glared at the boy, moving further away from him.
"If you come near me, even a little, I will scream."
Oliver's smirk turned into a frown and he sighed, moving away a little as well. There was a short silence as the duo walked down the street, with Oliver sending her looks from time to time.
"Why... why did you want to meet me? Wasn't talking at the bowling alley a few days ago enough?" (Y/n) finally spoke up, earning nervous look from Oliver. Which was a first from him.
"No... I missed talking to ya, and the bowling alley conversation definitely wasn't enough. Especially with your brother glaring at me the whole time."
"I support him in that. To be honest, you deserved way worse."
Oliver sighed at her answer, already expecting no sympathy from her.
"I am sorry... I really am sorry for leaving you like that-"
"You broke up with me via a text message... on the day of our anniversary. No amount of 'I am sorry' will make me forgive or forget that."
The boy flinched at that as (Y/n) glared at him, then turned to look at the road ahead of them. The silence between them was awkward, but (Y/n) liked it. It gave her a chance to de-stress a little.
'Asshole!' She sent a glance towards Oliver, inspecting his face for a moment.
'But he is a handsome one... stupid! Why do you think like that over someone who clearly doesn't care for you...' She scolded herself.
Meanwhile, Oliver was lost in his own thoughts.
'Shit... I really messed it up back then... I wonder if I can make it better in anyway, show her that I really regret it.' Oliver sighed as they approached a restaurant.
"Let's go and have dinner here. It's on me-"
"I can pay for my own food." (Y/n) cut him off, but agreed to have dinner there.
"Of course you can. But, let me cover it tonight-"
"We aren't on a date, Aiku." She reminded him as they walked into the restaurant.
"I am sure you have a girl or two on who you can spend your money on instead." As much as it hurt her to say that, (Y/n) couldn't not say it. The scene at the karaoke bar still hurt her.
'I don't expect him to love or care for me after everything... but to think that I still didn't move on properly and he just...'
Oliver just sighed and kept quiet, knowing right now wasn't the best time to argue about it.
'I screwd up royally... just what could make her see I still care?'
After an awkward dinner and some dry conversations after, they were returning home. (Y/n) was glad that the night was coming to an end.
'I just want to take a bath and forget all of this had happened.'
"Hey... can we talk for a moment?" Oliver suddenly spoke up, grabbing (Y/n)'s wrist to stop her from walking.
"What now?" She asked in a bored manner, removing her first from his hold.
"I... I know you hate me, and I deserve it. I was an ass towards you at the end of the relationship, but..." Oliver stopped, trying to gather his own thoughts as (Y/n) just stared at him with a curious expression.
"But?"
"I... I really do like you. And as short as our relationship was, I really miss it."
(Y/n)'s eyes widened at that, and she just kept staring at Oliver. She couldn't bring herself to say anything at the moment. I mean... what could she say?
"Back then, I wasn't in a good headspace and was going nowhere with my own skills. I didn't want to burden you with all of it... you deserved better. Not a guy who can barely keep himself in line. I realized my mistake, and I wish we could return back to how it was."
(Y/n) felt her eyes sting a little as her hands twitched a little at his words.
"I will do whatever it takes, and wait for however long you want me to, just for us to be together again-"
A loud slap echoed through the street and Oliver flinched and grabbed his reddened cheek.
"(Y/n)..."
"And.... and you couldn't bring yourself to talk to me?" She let out a few sobs.
'She is crying?' Oliver blinked.
"I... you are the worst! Do you know how painful it was when I read that message?! All because... all because you couldn't man up to say how you felt... I..." She buried her face into her palms and Oliver tried to move closer to her.
"Hey... I'm sorry. I don't like seeing you cry-"
"Forget it. I don't want to talk to you anymore." (Y/n) moved away from Oliver and turned around to run away.
"I don't want to look or talk to you... whatever you wanted to say, save it! I just hope the next girl you date... you will love her enough to talk things out."
Before Oliver could say anything or grab her hand, (Y/n) ran off. Her face still buried in her palms.
Oliver felt something break in him as he watched her run off from him. It hurt more than when he broke up with her.
"But I love you-"
"Oliver Aiku! The hell did you do to my sister?!"
The boy shook his head and turned to look at the younger Isagi in surprise. The boy staring at the captain with resentment and rage.
"Isagi... what are you doing here?"
"The better question is what did you do to my sister? Why is she crying, you hag?!" Isagi's glare got more intense as he approached the dumbfounded and heartbroken boy.
'I am such an idiot... I hate him and love him at the same time. Why am I doing this to myself?' (Y/n) thought while walking down the street and trying to wipe her tears away.
'I hate you. I hate you. I hate you.' She thought back at the purple/green-eyed boy.
"And yet I still can't-"
She cut herself off as another body collided into hers, causing the stranger to fall down and her to stumble to the side.
"Ha?!" (Y/n) let out a surprised gasp and removed her hands from her face.
"Can't you watch where you are going, idiot?"
The girl's eyes widened in surprise as teal eyes stared back up at her.
'Itoshi... Sae?! He is still in Japan?!' (Y/n) thought in surprise while looking at the annoyed boy.

As I mentioned in my post earlier:
Tumblr media
His cuff (that thing around his neck) is near transparent which gives us a lot of room to ponder since we don't exactly know what this chain even represent.
Taking Hiori as an example, let's suppose the chain represents the burden that holds back someone's true ego.
His cuff being transparent gives us two things:
1. It might be plastic which doesn't really make any sense if I were to be honest.
2. It is glass which makes a lot of sense because how's glass? Hell yeah, my geniuses, glass is really fragile which completely fits into what he said:
Tumblr media
Further, in that volume cover, he has pulled down his collar which puts a lot of spotlight into his blue rose tattoo, and we all know what that tattoo symbolises for Kaiser.
In case you don't remember: Kaiser got this tattoo as a reminder to himself to never fall back into his weak mentality because Blue Rose symbolises the achievement of impossible, and he saw it as an example to turn impossible to reality since Blue Rose, itself, is artificial and defies the natural order.
What is said above can be found with a quick Google search:
Tumblr media
But what grabbed my most attention is this panel:
Tumblr media
WHY?
If he only wanted to push the soccer industry to despair, then why he is adamant about winning the Champions league and the World Cup?????
Also, contrary to popular beliefs, I don't actually think Kaiser has a superiority complex because, look:
Tumblr media
What Chris said could be considered as an exaggerated way to rile someone, but isn't this, indirectly, exactly what Kaiser says after the Manshine City match ended?
Kaiser said something along the lines of, "BM's main character is Noa and it's impossible for me to be the current number one, that's why I came to NEL to use Isagi as a way to increase my value." He even went as far as to say that he is a secondary character in BM because BM is Noa's team.
I don't think so that anyone with superior complex will admit such real facts.
Further, why did he got so angry when Chris said those things? Isn't someone bound to be angrier if the other one was to point out their obvious weak point? So, does this mean, Kaiser actually got an inferior complex?
I'm not a psychologist, so I'm not dwelling too much into it.
However, there is another thing I want to point out:
So, because of that spreadsheet/official art of a very damaged soccer ball beside Kaiser's foot, the Fandom widely believes that Kaiser was poor while growing up .
BUT!
Being poor as a backstory has already been used three times: Naruhaya Asahi, Noel Noa, and Lorenzo Don.
I understand that in any sector with a lot of money and/or fame, there are many people who come from a poor economic background, but this is fiction, baby. No author wants anything be repeated to the point it feels overused.
That's why, I highly believe that Kaiser was either bullied or mistreated by his seniors when he started playing soccer which explains that he practiced fucking hard that the soccer ball was damaged, and also his supposed hatred towards the soccer industry. It also explains his long, unkempt hair because he was too indulged in practice.
OR!
It goes a bit darker, so proceed with caution:
Soccer somehow destroyed his family's peace just like the brotherhood of Itoshi brothers.
I may write about others in another post, but in this post, I would like to think that the person who destroyed his family's peace was his own father. It could be that his father was a soccer player himself and due to some circumstances, he fell off the soccer industry which took a toll on his mental health, and he started physically abusing either Kaiser, his mom or both.
Why physical abuse? Because Kaiser is shown having an affinity to choking.
If we get our minds out of the gutter, then there have been instances when he choked himself because he was frustrated. Also, didn't he say that he stroked his rose tattoo as a good luck before matches and compared it to, "as if tightening a noose," or something.
That's why, I kinda think that, AT LEAST, someone has choked Kaiser as abuse/bullying.
I'll rant about the above thing in another post tomorrow or some time later because I don't want this post to be too long, and also because I'm hungry af.
.
.
.
I remember a vivid dream when Kaiser threatened me to join BM.

Bachira and Isagi both take the lead in their plays
Picking up from a discussion about how nagireo is similar to kainess, where I commented about who leads the plays and in what role (as striker or as midfielder), it occurred to me that with BachiSagi, both Bachira and Isagi take the lead regardless of their roles. This is even more so after the Second Selection.
Here's a copy of the comment I added from the original post (I commented using my main @lizzieonka):
NagiReo - Reo, playing as midfielder, is the one that creates plays, and Nagi just shoots whatever ball Reo gives him KaiNess - Kaiser, as striker, is the one creating the plays, and Ness is just there to support him. KuroSagi is similar to Kainess. Striker Isagi in the lead, and Kurona supporting him as midfielder
But with BachiSagi, the power is equal.
Against Team X
Bachira, as midfielder, is the one giving commands:
Tumblr media
Isagi may seem passive here, but remember, his weapon is spatial awareness. He leads by positioning himself where he is able to receive Bachira's pass. He even calls it "my plan." Where he positions is entirely his idea. Bachira just syncs with him.
Tumblr media
Against Team Y
Bachira, playing as support again, is still pretty much in the lead in that final goal. He had the option to pass between Gagamaru and Isagi. Both probably had equal chances of scoring, but Gagamaru was nearer. Isagi was literally at the mercy of Bachira here. He could only shoot if Bachira chose him.
Tumblr media
But of course, the credit is not entirely Bachira's. If Isagi didn't run all the way to the goal on his own initiative from across the field, then there wouldn't even be a play between them in the first place. Bachira was able to pass to him because he was there.
Tumblr media
Against Team V
We've seen Bachira being able to cut through the entire Team V on his own without even needing Isagi as support, suffice to say that he can also take the lead when playing as forward.
And in that last play, Bachira was once again in control, with three forwards competing for his pass.
Tumblr media
Isagi leads by getting into position, but his play also hinged on Bachira choosing him.
Tumblr media
Now, the examples from the matches against Teams Y and Team V showing Bachira in the lead may not be so obvious since he's not explicitly giving commands like in the Team X match. So to prove my point, let me compare the Bachira-Isagi duo with the Nanase-Isagi and Kurona-Isagi duos.
In the latter two, the cooperation was discussed beforehand.
Nanase couldn't keep up with Rin's and Shidou's plays, so he told Isagi about it. At the beginning of the Germany vs England match (or maybe right before it, I can't remember), Kurona tells Isagi that he'll be siding with him and not Kaiser.
But for the BachiSagi goals in the Teams Y and V matches, there was no agreement beforehand that Bachira would assist Isagi. Both times, Isagi had to compete for a pass from Bachira (against Gagamaru in the Team Y match, and against Kunigami and Chigiri in the Team V match). Bachira choosing Isagi out of all the options he had was him taking the lead. Isagi just happened to be the player who can also play his ideal in football, and that is why he chose him.
Against the Top 3
Episode 13 just aired, and this ep makes it even more obvious how Bachira could stay in control as both midfielder and forward.
Bachira dictating Nagi what to do with his pass
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bachira being the anchor of their triangle formation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We even have Isagi asking Bachira how they should attack:
Tumblr media
And when passing to others didn't work, Bachira decided to take matters into his own hands
Tumblr media Tumblr media
U-20 Match
Isagi's role was to support Rin, but at some point, the match started revolving around him.
Spain vs Germany
Isagi passing to Kunigami as a way to assert his presence on the field.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Takeaway
Bachira and Isagi both play their best when they're in the lead. One leads by intuition, while the other by logic. Submitting to the other would be stifling their strengths. We've seen this proven in the Second Selection arc and further emphasized in later arcs.
A lot of people think that Bachira would eventually settle as Isagi's midfielder, but I don't think that would happen. Their life pre-Blue Lock was about them having to conform to the play style of their high school teams. Isagi was forced to become a team player, while Bachira was often reprimanded for making crazy passes. If their character just ends up having to conform to others again, I would not like that.
Whether they're playing as midfielder or forward, the two of them are egoists. I'd rather they end up on different teams and face each other as opponents than to force them in one team just for my ship to sail. Or, if they do end up in the same team, then both of them have to be leaders in their plays. Neither one should be delegated to a supporting role.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One last rambly post before I go be productive. This one is less shitposty... though it's also about Kunigami so, you know. Expect copium from a stan.
He features in four panels during this week's chapter, which is a development. He features once in each of the preceding chapters (230 & 231), minor appearances in either case. Squint or you'll miss him altogether.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That said, the mangaka and writer continually remind us of his presence, much as they have with Hiori in the run up to and during the Ubers match. Although he hasn't had a proper line of dialogue since chapter 218, and he hasn't done anything particularly meaningful since chapter 219.
Tumblr media
But that's to be expected.
What happened in chapter 219? It's the build up to Kaiser's goal in the following chapter (220). As a reminder, Kunigami initiated that attack himself, and cleared many of the defenders single-handedly. But without support, his attack chances were goosed. So Isagi intercepted the ball, and through a series of plays, Kaiser ended up scoring.
What's happening now (in chapter 232)? Another Bastard Munchen goal attempt, this time spearheaded by Kaiser from the start.
Kunigami has fallen into operating as a goal poacher. Where he positions himself in chapter 232 is reminiscent of his positioning in chapter 185, where he scores against Manshine using Isagi's shot attempt. You can understand why he continues to use this method. Compare his placement here with where he positions himself beside Aryu, in the leak panels above.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't work out for him this time though, because Lorenzo deflects the ball away from him... and he doesn't have metavision like Isagi, allowing him to foresee that chain of events. He waits around for the opportunity like a scavenger, unable to use his mind to play the potential scenarios out. It's less efficient, and he also has no one to support his plays. Respectfully, Isagi would be a lot less efficient too if he didn't have Kurona, Hiori or even Yukimiya for assists.
Kunigami himself isn't playing up and down the pitch because he's a forward, and in part because he has no metavision. Tellingly, he barely featured during the Star Change system, when Ubers were the dominant attackers. But is he still an effective player overall?
Certainly. Had Lorenzo been sloppier about that deflection and sent it the other direction, it'd have been on Aryu to keep that ball out of Kunigami's reach within a split second. Kunigami's a difficult player to contain, even two on one. Ubers would have been in danger there, had the ball gone his way rather than Isagi's. While the deflection could be random, I wonder whether that's something Lorenzo considered. If the choice was Aryu V Kunigami, or Aiku V Isagi... well, I'd put my money on Aiku every time. No shade, glam king, you're still an icon ✨
The point I'm making is, Kunigami is always present when Bastard Munchen are attacking. If he's not driving the attack himself (as he was in chapter 218/219), then he's hanging around to see if he can steal a goal opportunity from another forward (Isagi, and now Kaiser too).
Tumblr media
As much as I enjoy the jokes about Kunigami being absent in this match due to his shinigami side hustle, it is tiresome to read through people slandering his ability to play overall. He can, and he continues to pose a danger to the goal whenever the ball is in play in that area. We can dump on him for being inflexible, for not having metavision, or for his shitty personality change. But I wanted to highlight as per the latest chapter, how he's shown to be engaged and present within this match.
Further reading: I did a deep dive on what Kunigami's role is in the Neo-Egoist league here.
I take the piss out of him here and here, if memes are more your speed.

Isagirin meta part 3
Part 1, talking about Isagi’s first meeting and match with Rin here.
Part 2, covering the rest of the Second Selection Arc, up till Rin choosing Isagi to move ahead with Aryu and co., here.
Part 3 covers the post-Second Selection Arc chapters, beginning from the 5-man team formation, to the vs World team, and the first Blue Lock Eleven try out match, with Isagi in Team A vs Chigiri in Team B.
C87-93, vs World 5
Isagi’s reeling from just barely losing the game earlier, and then from being chosen. He’s also subdued over the sensation of losing, and then being chosen by someone else, reinforcing the notion of how Isagi wants to be the one doing the choosing. While he connects with Bachira, seeing his maturity and also becoming motivated to grow stronger by himself, he then asks Rin about how he made that final goal. Rin informs him that it’s ‘luck’. Ego further explains about the mechanism of ‘luck’ in the context of the series. Luck forms through a series of coincidences and happenings, and only those who are prepared to grasp it when it comes around, i.e. when Rin sped up to chase after Isagi and Bachira, instead of stopping or slowing down like the others, he gambled on the chance that Isagi would 1) successfully block Bachira and 2) would not gain possession of the ball.
Rin agrees with Ego's explanation, then adds that he had a different option: to not score. He made that goal to accept that he had lost to Isagi then, because he couldn’t foresee Bachira’s awakening/read Bachira’s moves, then failed to take advantage of it while Isagi had successfully countered it. Again, this is another facet of Rin that Isagi admires, acknowledges, and tries to learn from. They later learn of their upcoming match against world-class strikers, and while resting, Isagi notices that Rin is missing. He joins Rin in stretching exercises, and learns more about Rin’s motivation to beat Sae.
Tumblr media
“Yeah, I get the feeling that if I chase you, I’ll get stronger… Rin, I see you as my rival.”
We can see that Rin is clearly surprised/affected/touched by this, even though he later says that he thinks nothing of Isagi. The fires of rivalry are stoked, yoga shenanigans ensue, and Rin gets pissed that Isagi falls on top of him.
Tumblr media
Rin, you dramatic little bitch
Everyone’s excited to face off against the world-class players. The world-class players range from dismissive to neutral towards them (though let's face it, the only polite guy is Julien), until the Bachira-Rin combo scores a goal.
Tumblr media
Look at how hyped he is, one of the prettiest panels of Isagi in the entire series and it's him being stupid in love with his rival and best friend
Isagi is impressed with the Bachira-Rin combo. Bachira, in turn, remarks that Rin’s gotten better with Isagi around. But they’re still outclassed, the World 5 blazing past them 4-1. The only one who’s still fighting to win is Rin. Later, Leonardo faces off with Rin in a 1-on-1. He past Rin easily, and that whole ass line he uses is a straight up sexual innuendo about Rin
which is
again
a first
(here, in its full glory and for your perusal)
Tumblr media
(so I guess what I’m saying is, if by this point you haven’t figured out that the author has a secret favourite, then I really have to tell you, the author clearly has a favourite)
Tumblr media
The world team trounces the quintuplet, and as they collapse, exhausted, Isagi’s concerned about Rin, who is singularly furious and frustrated over the loss. He also acknowledges that Rin was the only one of the five of them who was truly trying to win the game at all. It’s also because of this moment, that Isagi once again changes his perception of Rin. Rin is no longer simply a rival to Isagi; he’s a goal, a measure for his own skills.
Tumblr media
‘The day I win against you, is the day I’ll be able to stand on the world’s stage… From my front row view of you, I will rise above you to become the best in the world!’
C93
Tumblr media
We get another slow chapter for C93, but its certainly cute. Rin gets bonding time (against his will) with his teammates, who are all likely older than he is, and lands in the role of tutor (against his will again), lol.
I think what makes this even funnier is that Rin’s the youngest out of all of them. Academic high-achiever Itoshi Rin, everyone!
C94-112 (Blue Lock Eleven tryouts)
What’s surprising to me is that Rin and co. were the first to clear the second selection, but I suppose in the background there were many players who waffled over making teams and setting up matches in both the 3-man and 4-man teams, as shown when Aryu and Tokimitsu were having trouble fixing up matches for the 4v4. Nagi and the rest come in second. As the others file in, Chigiri and Nagi are worried for the last team – and the two people they’re closest to in Blue Lock, Kunigami and Reo. Then comes the clincher – Reo is in, but in place of Kunigami, it’s Shidou who makes it to the top.
After breaking up the fight that Shidou tried to start, Ego informs them about the upcoming match against Japan’s U20, and tells them that Sae will be participating in the match. He then proceeds to inform them about the rush-patch team they’ll be making, centering around the 6 chosen players: Rin, Shidou, Karasu, Otoya, Yukimiya and Nagi. The remaining players now have to choose: who they want to team up with, who they can assert and coexist with in a team, and also, who can be their stepping stone to surpass.
Over a meal, Bachira deduces who Isagi would team up with – Rin, or Nagi. As Isagi stays up watching videos to try and come to a decision, Reo comes up to join him, expressing his worries about Nagi becoming out of reach, and that he doesn’t know if he’ll get the chance to play with Nagi again. Isagi empathises with Reo and says that it’s the same for him, except his target isn’t Nagi: it’s Rin.
Tumblr media
"The person I want to be beside right now, is you, Rin! ... Reo, thank you. I've found my resolve, thanks to you. I'm going to prove... that the path I've chosen for myself isn't wrong!
Once again, this is a repetition of another important part of Isagi's relationship with Reo in-story. As I outlined in part 2, after Isagi-Nagi-Barou team wins against Kunigami-Chigiri-Reo, Isagi tells Reo that he should become someone who can choose. Here, Isagi walks the talk and chooses who he wants, instead of letting the person he wants choose him. And now, he wants to prove that the path he’s chosen, aka choosing to pursue his rivalry with Rin – and to an extent, chasing after Rin himself, isn’t wrong.
Team A vs Team B (C97-C104)
Isagi gets chosen for the first match, and ruminates on how his current team up with Hiori and Nanase are the most comfortable he’s had so far in Blue Lock, complete with shoujo-ish effects as they laugh together. The game heats up with Shidou’s insane goal, then Karasu marks Isagi early on in the match, and Isagi’s forced to realize that he lacks the skill to beat Karasu one-on-one.
Bonus: Shidou’s so excited over a crow and a ninja combo, lmao.

Rin and Shidou’s inability to work together, unlike Karasu and Otoya + Chigiri later on, causes problems for their team. They fall behind to a critical 2-4 with Team B in the lead. Isagi manages to get the ball, and passes to Shidou, who scores when Isagi expects a combo, and brings Team A to 3 goals. Isagi momentarily berates himself for thinking that Shidou would have cooperated with him, and they restart the game quickly. Isagi is still marked by Karasu, and is unable to shake him. Then Rin cuts in to free up Isagi from Karasu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Karasu’s lines here?
‘Oh, I hate this. What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine’ mentality.’
I don't know how the JP audience perceives this, but this is a pretty suggestive line to me when translated, and in my experience that 'what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine' normally gets applied to 1) couples or 2) siblings in a family who have to/made to share a bunch of stuff (cultural differences may vary, with this one, but *waves shipping goggles*)
While Rin is occupied with his 1-on-1 against Karasu, Isagi rushes in and steals the ball. Very nice teamwork from the pair here, though Rin at this point in time, probably lowkey hates him for it (lol).
With Nanase and Hiori, Isagi breaks through the midfield, but is one step short of receiving Hiori’s pass. Rin covers for his miss and makes the shot, bringing the game to 4-4.
Tumblr media
Karasu makes this point after Rin scores a second goal. It’s a pattern now, for these two. Rin starts a change. Isagi responds in kind, elevating the overall play and raising the level of the match.
Karasu and Otoya break through, but Shidou successfully intercepts a pass to Chigiri. Nanase picks it up, passing immediately to Isagi. Excluding Shidou, the members of Team A break through the field, with Rin,Nanase and Isagi forming a triangle. Rin makes the call to push through faster, and they get the ball to Hiori.
Team A wins narrowly, after Isagi takes into account Hiori’s advice. He ‘moves by reflex’ and bursts in between Rin and Shidou and scores the final goal. While Nanase, Hiori and Shidou congratulate Isagi on his goal, Rin is sore about losing the shot to Isagi.
Tumblr media
We can actually see Isagi being somewhat upset at Rin’s reaction here. If Isagi’s silence isn’t a big enough clue, the blackened background sure is. Shidou comes up to defend him from Rin, rightfully calling out Rin’s arrogance and poor sportsmanship, and the pair immediately gets into a fight.
Later on, we also see that Isagi acknowledges Rin’s point here, as he, Nanase and Hiori go over what happened in the AV room. He’s not sure what happened, and how he got that goal, until Hiori explains his advice, comparing it to a tetris game.
Bonus: Poor Isagi getting choked by Shidou, while the others separate these two idiots.
Tumblr media
We head into the next match, a Team A vs Team C matchup.
Team A vs Team C
There’s not much here, as the focus is mainly on Reo and Nagi’s friendship, but I am picking out some little fun moments.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have the second person to nickname Rin based on his eyelashes, Shidou. The chibis of these two are cute! We also learn that Rin is petty enough to hold grudges, even in-match (lmao)
Tumblr media
Team C scores first with Nagi x Yukimiya’s combo. Shidou continues on his crusade of giving Rin nicknames, choosing to adopt RinRin, which is even more cutesy and overly affectionate (though in his case, it’s mocking) than Bachira’s previous Rin-chan.
Despite Reo’s new ability/use of his dexterity, Team C still loses soundly to Team A. Nagi comes to talk to Reo, who knows that his skill still isn’t enough. He’s taken Isagi’s words to heart – he wants to become someone that Nagi wants to chase after.
I think that this point is where Rin truly begins to supplant Bachira as the deuteragonist of Blue Lock. We are not given any insight or views of Bachira’s matches or his plays in them, and other than Isagi’s own match, and Reo’s, whose POV we get, the character whom the narrative focuses on is Rin. I understand it’s hard to juggle a weekly manga with such a huge cast of characters, as Blue Lock does, but I think the lack of Bachira is quite telling that his narrative importance has decreased. Isagi’s focus, and by extension, the narrative, for a long while now, has been more focused on Rin.
In the formation of the team to go up against Japan’s U20, Ego spells it out. The team is centered around Rin. Of all the players in Blue Lock who can bring out the best in Rin’s plays, the ‘ideal partner to Itoshi Rin’, is Isagi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is canon, y’all. And spoken, no less, by the very character who thus far, is the closest to an in-series omniscient narrator.
Tumblr media
This panel of Rin and Shidou having no chemistry at all is so fucking funny. Shooting down the ship in canon, just in case shippers get any ideas, lmao.
Ego then tells them about Sae’s participation in the U20 match, and that he chose Shidou to play with out of all the members of Blue Lock present. Rin’s reaction to finding out that Sae chose Shidou to play with is fun – complete fury. Ego moves on to break down Rin and Shidou’s playstyles: Rin involves his surroundings and synergizes with them, Shidou’s is very much self-sufficient, even going so far as to say it comes down to who made the right choice between him and Sae will decide the outcome of the match, and thus Blue Lock’s continued survival. Rin, on the other hand, reasserts that the match is a stepping stone for him to become the best in the world, which the others echo.
While Sae and Shidou meet the U20 team, Blue Lock begins their training camp. During their break, Isagi mulls over the importance of ‘breaking through’ the U20’s defense, per Bachira’s words, then surmising that he doesn’t have the power to do that. He then comes across Rin still training. while they’re supposed to be on break.
Tumblr media
[It’s fun how the narrative arranges that Isagi’s questions for breaking through the U20 defense, and to master his newfound ability via the flow trance, brought him to Rin.]
Isagi pops inside the training room and tells Rin to take a break. He’s surprised at Rin’s ferocious single-mindedness, and coaxes Rin into a short break by handing him a water bottle.
Tumblr media
[Also fun how Isagi just happened to be carrying two water bottles for whatever reason, conveniently being able to offer one to Rin.]
Rin rebuffs him at first, but Isagi doesn’t take his shit, adjusting his words and attitude into one that Rin is more palatable to. Then as he walks away, he thinks this:
‘I’ve… never seen Rin look like that before. I want to win along with him…’
Tumblr media
Isagi doesn’t simply want to win. He wants to win along with Rin.
C112
The U20 and Blue Lock teams walk out onto the field. Rin glares at Sae, who ignores him, while Aiku wishes Isagi good luck. Isagi grows nervous, and Rin perceptively realizes it, smacking him on the back to get him out of his head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Let's go, Isagi."
"Yeah!"
And that's all for part 3!
There’s a lot less analysis for this part, as it’s mostly about Isagi’s increasing focus on Rin, as well as his and Rin’s growing rivalry/friendship. In this arc, Rin's character is further rounded out, and we get a hint of the depth of his obsession with defeating Sae.
Compared to part 2, where Isagi was more hung up on Rin’s sheer skill, in this part we see Isagi’s respect for Rin evolve further, into a much deeper respect for Rin’s mindset and relentless drive to win, even in a situation where he was severely outclassed by the World 5 team. The Blue Lock Eleven tryouts and his conversation with Reo is a nice moment of foiling, parallels and reinforcement of the series narrative theme.
Isagi directly compares himself to Reo – he’s afraid of not being able to play with Rin again, but he’s also afraid that the gap between him and Rin will keep growing to the point where Rin is beyond his reach, which, from a shipping perspective, is pretty damning in my opinion, because the NagiReo ship is, next to the Bachisagi ship, probably the best established one in terms of narrative themes and characterisation both, with Reo being almost all Nagi at this point in time. Besides that, with the top 6 players announced + Bachira, we clearly see that Isagi is still lagging behind his peers when it comes to plain old football skill.
Besides that, Isagi too, becomes more involved and concerned about Rin’s issues with Sae, although he’s still scratching the surface with Rin about that, and it’s clear that he’s more than a little disconcerted by Rin’s obsession with beating Sae. It’s also fascinating to see him actively include Rin in his wishes with regards to the U20 game – specifically to win along with Rin, which is an extension of his initial wish in the Second Selection Arc, that he wants Rin.
On Rin’s part, he’s thawing out towards Isagi, surely but slowly. Beginning with his semi-allowance of Isagi to do yoga with him in the training room, and later his response to Isagi’s declaration of rivalry, then the way he works together with Isagi up until it becomes clear that Isagi can’t defeat Karasu one-on-one, and at that point. Even then, he doesn’t discard Isagi completely, choosing instead to free up Isagi from Karasu and face off against Karasu himself. Although he does wind up pissed at Isagi for stealing the thunder and the final goal and speaking rather cruelly about him, neither he nor Isagi escalates the issue further. We also learn that Rin has some problems: he is utterly unable to work with Shidou, someone whose skill is almost on par with him in Blue Lock, and he cannot healthily acknowledge that Isagi had defeated him in that last shot.
Update: Part 4 will cover the first half of the U20 match, and there are a lot of nice moments coming up.

I remember that in an earlier chapter of the spinoff there was Nagi suggesting splitting up (I forgot the context, my memory is fuzzy) and Reo replied, and I quote "I would never do something so heartless"
Now Nagi left without him and Reo thinks "I didn't want to know that someone changing can be this cruel"
Cruel, heartless... The vocabulary he uses is so emotion-driven, I think it highlights the root of the issue. Reo misreads Nagi as someone who simply doesn't care. About their promise, and about him.
And idk, I think that for the first time here it occurred to him that while Nagi is instrumental to his dream (winning the world cup together), Reo is not vital for the kind of soccer Nagi wants to play. Just like that, Reo doesn't just see his dream slipping away from his fingers, but the person responsible for crushing it is also the same person he entrusted half of it onto. That's why it's cruel.
If from Nagi's perspective he was always meant to return to Reo in the end, from Reo's, Nagi's someone who already walked away from that future. The act of removing himself from it means—in Reo's eyes—that Nagi never attributed the same weight and meaning to his promise as Reo did.
Nagi of course didn't mean it like that, but Nagi only thinks the words he should've said. Aloud, what he says sounds like a farewell. It wouldn't surprise me if Reo misunderstood things further and thought he was just Nagi's stepping stone. He taught him football, and brought him to blue lock, but that's it.
Tumblr media
Reo couldn't even get him to say he was having fun, but the second Isagi challenges him, Nagi finds his drive, and doesn't need to be bribed anymore. Suddenly, Nagi is chasing his own goal, but what about Reo's?
Tumblr media
Reo's dream, that was so reliant on being a duo? In tatters. And Nagi didn't even acknowledge it
Cruel indeed

just wanted to quickly say the biggest ty for tfylim 😭💙 literally so starved out here for cgis content I reread it every week and it still just hits me right in the feels everytime!! you portrayed cgis so so well oml 😭 I would love to hear any headcanons for their relationship post fic if u have any!!
Aww omg Anon you are SO WELCOME, honestly to hear from anyone who enjoys this ship means so much to me 🥹 I’m so happy that you enjoyed it enough to reread, ahh!!
I have so so many thoughts about them post TFYLiM honestly — I had planned to write a bunch of follow up one-shots portraying their journey together through the rest of Blue Lock after this, but I got completely consumed by a new manga accidentally (actually because of the lead character sharing the same anime English dub VA as Chigiri 🤦🏼‍♀️) and have just not had the time to get back to it.
But anyway, let me shut up rambling and share my actual thoughts:
In my head, they never really fully address what happened between them during the break, but it becomes this sort of, typical, ‘okay we both know we really like each other but we are awkward and aren’t exactly sure how to discuss feelings at length and anyway, FOOTBALL!!!’ So it’s sort of like this undercurrent of romantic tension between them both which everyone else is maybe vaguely aware of to varying degrees. For example, Bachira in my head totally knows what’s up, and Kaiser absolutely picks up on it during BM’s match with Manshine and immediately latches on to using Chigiri as a means to wind Isagi up further, which works especially well when Isagi himself is still trying to figure out how to approach his feelings for Chigiri.
Due to the setup of the NEL, they rarely get opportunities to be alone, especially where there are no cameras, but I absolutely think there would be moments in between matches where they manage to snatch time together and the competitive and romantic tension spills over yet again and they maybe have some rushed kissing or awkward fumbles, but there’s never the time or privacy to really talk about it properly.
And in my head, this is how they would continue even into their later professional careers, where it almost settles into this unspoken contract of, football comes first, but god if I was ever going to admit to loving anyone, it would be you.
They snatch time together when they happen to be in the same cities, or for BlueLock reunions, and by this point everyone kinda knows but it’s never mentioned or acknowledged until one day finally, one of them has the courage to ask what are we doing, and the answer for them both is the same: I love you equally as much as I love football, and that actually makes them the perfect match for one another, because it means that the boundaries and the priorities in their lives are clear. I can actually never imagine Chigiri asking Isagi to choose him over his football career, and vis versa, and I think that’s why they really are soulmates. They share a passion which actually is organically their passion, not because of some childhood trauma or because they’re chasing recognition from family members or to distance themselves from family or because another area of their life is lacking or any other secondary reason.
They are just both in love with the game for the sake of playing the game.
That got kinda out of hand but I start talking about them and I can’t stop 🥹 I don’t think BlueLock is really about ships at all (despite the creators teasing us constantly with innuendos and heartfelt moments which could be taken that way) but I do think, realistically speaking, if any two characters had the best basis to be thought of as soulmates, it would Chigiri and Isagi 🥹
This already got so long but since it’s been a good while since I got to yell about these two, here’s a couple of random bits pulled from WIPs for them (can’t remember if I’ve shared these before tho).
Set post BM & Manshine match:
