I want to talk about this panel:
Tumblr media
If you read Blue Lock just for soccer, then you might say, "Cool as hell!" Which you aren't wrong, this indeed is cool as hell, but BLLK, sometimes, is more than soccer.
So, in Hiori's part in the LN, look at this:
Tumblr media
This was during a conversation with Karasu.
And well, look at his volume cover too:
Tumblr media
You getting me?
Blue Lock gave Hiori a way where he could be free and find his true self, his true ego.
If I'm not wrong, then he is the first person to be shown as someone who broke free from the chains. Meanwhile, everyone who is shown with chain in the volume covers still hasn't been shown as breaking free from it.
So, does those chain represent things that are holding them back from being their true self?
But there are certain things in the volume covers that couldn't be ignored, like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These three are holding their chains.
Tumblr media
He has four chains.
Tumblr media
His is almost transparent to the point we can clearly see his neck tattoo.
Tumblr media
His got roses and branches which, I assume, is representing how Kaiser is holding him back in a way.
There are many more ways to compare them, like, some got glowing eyes/chain, some got soccer balls incorporated, some people got their own personalised type of chain, some got different uniforms, and many more.
So, what does this chain truly represent?
.
.
.
Sometimes, in my nightmares, a theory appears that says Sae became a Midfielder because of a dying love interest who told him to fulfill their dream.

NagiReo in Blue Lock and Episode Nagi through a BPD4BPD Lens
For this analysis we will be using the diagnostic criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder from the DSM-5, below, which was last updated in 2013.
Tumblr media
We'll be taking a look at Nagi and Reo's behavior in both Blue Lock and Episode Nagi, as well as the trivia included in the Egoist Bible. We will be going through at least five different diagnostic criteria for each of them, before talking about BPD4BPD relationships and the way Nagi and Reo interact as each other's FP's.
Chronic Feelings of Emptiness
First, lets's take a look at Blue Lock.
From his very first appearance, Nagi displays a boredom with day to day tasks and relies on Reo heavily.
Tumblr media
Here's a little collage of Nagi's apathy in early Blue Lock.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Reo is shown to have been chronically bored with life since childhood. He is "easily bored, [] seek[ing] something to do," which he finds in his goal to win the world cup.
Tumblr media
Now let's look into Episode Nagi.
Nagi demonstrates a persistent low energy/fatigue. He's bored by self-care activities and taking care of basic needs.
Tumblr media
He originally doesn't want to join Blue Lock because of this chronic emptiness/boredom.
Tumblr media
Now we move onto the Egoist Bible.
Nagi describes his weakness as "Tend[ing] to find many things bothersome," which is backed up by the panels we looked at earlier.
Reo considers his his weakness to be, "I can do anything and get bored easily." When he describes a day in his life at Blue Lock he says, "When I asked Nagi, "Let's play games," he refused. "Because if you improve quickly, you'll get bored easily," he said. You really know me, I thought, but that made me a bit sad." His boredom is a weakness for him, that both he and others, like Nagi, pick up on.
A Pattern of Unstable and Intense Interpersonal Relationships Characterized by Alternating Between Extremes of Idealization and Devaluation
Here, I'll note the DSM-5's notes from the Diagnostic Features section: "They may idealize potential caregivers or lovers at the first or second meeting, demand to spend a lot of time together, and share the most intimate details early in a relationship. However, they may switch quickly from idealizing other people to devaluing them, feeling that the other person does not care enough, does not give enough, or is not “there” enough. These individuals can empathize with and nurture other people, but only with the expectation that the other person will “be there” in return to meet their own needs on demand. These individuals are prone to sudden and dramatic shifts in their view of others, who may alternatively be seen as beneficent supports or as cruelly punitive. Such shifts often reflect disillusionment with a caregiver whose nurturing qualities had been idealized or whose rejection or abandonment is expected."
Again, we first look at Blue Lock.
Nagi demonstrates a positive attitude towards Reo. He looks up to him and is often praising him and mentioning him even when Reo isn't around. However he ends up harshly speaking to Reo after their argument directly after their 3v3 match, showing a rapid switch in emotions triggered by feelings of Reo not caring about their promise.
Tumblr media
Reo shows a lot of negative emotions easily. He feels rejected and spiteful because of Nagi leaving him during the second selection. This makes him think of plans to make Nagi take him back, experience the same pain, etc. He continues to describe Nagi as a treasure he found, however, as a person who made his life stop being boring.
Tumblr media
Now let's move onto Episode Nagi.
Nagi and Reo share with each other the details of their personal lives very quickly after meeting each other, something mentioned in the DSM-5 as: "shar[ing] the most intimate details early in a relationship." Reo especially does this, but both do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reo is also stuck on the idealized idea of playing soccer with Nagi. He makes every effort to make this into a reality, even with the later devaluation he experiences during Blue Lock.
Tumblr media
Identity Disturbance: Markedly and Persistently Unstable Self-Image or Sense of Self
The Diagnostic Criteria of the DSM-5 says this: "There are sudden and dramatic shifts in self-image, characterized by shifting goals, values, and vocational aspirations. There may be sudden changes in opinions and plans about career, sexual identity, values, and types of friends. These individuals may suddenly change from the role of a needy supplicant for help to that of a righteous avenger of past mistreatment. Although they usually have a selfimage that is based on being bad or evil, individuals with this disorder may at times have feelings that they do not exist at all. Such experiences usually occur in situations in which the individual feels a lack of a meaningful relationship, nurturing, and support. These individuals may show worse performance in unstructured work or school situations," in regards to this criteria.
First, we will take a look at Blue Lock, once again.
Nagi doesn't have a solid identity in football or a goal. He plays depending on Reo. His ego revolves around Reo's and he doesn't have a sense of his own. Nagi cares about Reo deeply and because he started playing football for Reo, he has a hard time developing an identity within football outside of Reo.
Tumblr media
Reo has a conflicting set of ideals. He flickers between wanting to be independent and rely on no one and wanting to play with Nagi. This is partially because Nagi is the object of his affection and therefore the center of both his black and white thinking and fear of rejection.
Tumblr media
Reo also experiences a disjointed sense of identity within his personal opinion of himself. When faced with Nagi's rejection, Reo's opinion of himself drops exponentially.
Tumblr media
Moving on to Episode Nagi.
Nagi is unsure of his identity and stands on shaky ground regarding his worth.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Reo, in contrast to Blue Lock, is confident and happy because of his idealization of Nagi and his dream, showing the instability and fluctuation of his identity.
Tumblr media
Finally, let's take a look at the Egoist Bible.
Reo answers that what makes him happy is "Due recognition" and what makes him sad is "preconceived views" showing the way he is influenced by others in his view of himself and his identity.
Frantic Efforts to Avoid Real or Imagined Abandonment
"The perception of impending separation or rejection, or the loss of external structure, can lead to profound changes in self-image, affect, cognition, and behavior. These individuals are very sensitive to environmental circumstances. They experience intense abandonment fears and inappropriate anger even when faced with a realistic time-limited separation or when there are unavoidable changes in plans (e.g., sudden despair in reaction to a clinician’s announcing the end of the hour; panic or fury when someone important to them is just a few minutes late or must cancel an appointment). They may believe that this “abandonment” implies they are “bad.” These abandonment fears are related to an intolerance of being alone and a need to have other people with them."
Let's look at Blue Lock.
Nagi does everything throughout Blue Lock to keep his promise to Reo. This promise is important because it represents their partnership and implies that Reo will stay with him. During the Neo Egoist League, Nagi struggles to convince Reo to play with him again, trying to avoid the rejection of losing Reo as a partner, which would make him feel purposeless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Reo often tries to avoid rejection. To him rejection is one of the worst things that could happen. He's always thinking about rejection, about being chosen, about what happens if he isn't chosen.
Tumblr media
Now let's look at Episode Nagi.
In Episode Nagi, Nagi's fear of rejection is a little bit clearer. We can go back to the panels showing his sense of self to take a look at his thoughts of just being the tag along or a slacker to see this. He also is determined to stay with Reo in Blue Lock, despite his laziness and lack of motivation because of their promise. When he's insulted he instates himself as Reo's partner and part of a set.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Reo notices rejection in small things like offhand comments. For example when Nagi passes to Zantetsu and comments on his dream being the same.
Tumblr media
Inappropriate, Intense Anger or Difficulty Controlling Anger
The DSM-5 says: "They may display extreme sarcasm, enduring bitterness, or verbal outbursts. The anger is often elicited when a caregiver or lover is seen as neglectful, withholding, uncaring, or abandoning. Such expressions of anger are often followed by shame and guilt and contribute to the feeling they have of being evil."
Let's look at Blue Lock for a final time.
Nagi expresses anger towards Isagi when he brings up Reo, because he recently experienced separation from him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reo resorts to physical violence on the field when Nagi is brought up in insults.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, for Episode Nagi.
Reo has to stop Nagi from getting into a verbal altercation with Barou that would most likely devolve into a physical fight. This started because of Reo being brought up in an insult.
Tumblr media
BPD4BPD
Tumblr media
This BPD4BPD flag was made by @gender-mailman
BPD4BPD is a label for pwBPD who want to date pwBPD. To me this is an incredibly interesting lens to view NagiReo through because I find that it makes them click as people who understand each other in this specific way of their BPD and yet, because of their clumsy teenage inexperience and because of their independent struggles with it, keep on hurting each other.
I feel like with NagiReo, the way their relationship has developed throughout Blue Lock up until the Neo Egoist League, it's lacking communication. They're both hurting each other in ways that are typical for how they react to rejection and they get stuck in cycles of miscommunication because of it. They both deeply care about each other and I think because they're teenagers who don't really know what they're doing with their friendship or tentative romance or whatever you choose to interpret their relationship as it is turning out exactly as one would expect. I think there's a positive outlook for them which is very exciting to see for two characters who fall so closely within the lines of BPD coding and have such a close and interesting relationship, a BPD4BPD relationship that's really rare to see in media.
In fandom, I see a lot of casual ableism towards Reo especially, perhaps because his coding is more overt, especially in the department of expressing feelings of rejection, which is bleak, but honestly that is something we can work on as a fandom.
Also, please feel free to add to this post if there's anything I missed, especially since my manga reading website is a little bit behind both on Episode Nagi and on Blue Lock, or if there's anything interesting you have to add!
Remember to be kind to your local pwBPD and just all pwPDs and I hope you enjoyed this little dive into NagiReo's theoretical psychology!

I’ve recently seen the theory that Ego Jinpachi and Kiyora Jin might be brothers… what do you guys think?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
———
reasons for the theory:
"Ego" is an obvious alias, so his surname might very well be Kiyora too; also the similarity between the names "Jin" and "Jinpachi" somewhat seems too deliberate to be coincidental
it is stated in his profile that Jin has an older brother that got him into soccer by playing with him at 2 y/o
———
naturally, that’s not much to go off of, but I think it’s an interesting theory and it definitely has potential - lemme know what y’all think!!

my take on the itoshi brothers
the itoshi brothers’ relationship is so complex and it makes me want to throw myself off a building so hard. spoilers to anime onlys, and spoilers for the u-20 arc onwards. if u dont wanna see then just scroll <//3 so anyways as i was saying, the itoshis
this is half analysis, half theory, part screaming, so like if u have anything u disagree w me on or anything u wanna add then please do
so obviously from the very start we can see how warped their relationship’s gotten ever since sae went to spain. rin focuses all his attention and efforts into getting better so he can crush sae, while sae doesnt even acknowledge his existence.
at first, i only saw rin’s side in this. i admit, up until i reread the manga and their backstory, i was thinking ab the situation solely from rin’s perspective and ended up neglecting some details. most especially sae’s reaction to the fallout, as well as some other minor details.
Tumblr media
we can see from the suitcase than sae had just landed, and that his first instinct was to go to rin. his first priority was to go see his baby brother, with the intention of telling him about his decision regarding his soccer career. he obviously still cares about rin here, and we can see that as he didn’t “completely” abandon their dream.
for sae, his view on their dream shifted. after seeing how big the skill gap is between him and the world, he decided that he can’t be the best with rin as he is. especially as rin hasn’t had the opportunity to see how it actually is outside of japan. i think he shifted his view so that they can still be the best, just with him lifting up rin rather than being by his side. much like how reo shifted his view into becoming a midfielder so he can make nagi shine even brighter
Tumblr media
sae changed his resolve to become a midfielder, while he “entrusts” the original dream to rin. In his eyes, it’s still their dream, as he’ll still be the best with rin, just not as strikers. however, i don’t think he counted that rin would be completely attached to their original dream. well, either that or he was desperately hoping that rin would understand where he’s coming from
to be completely honest i think it's the latter. as rin expressed his discontentment with sae’s new resolve, we see in his eyes that he’s frustrated. and then it all comes boiling over when rin yells “you’re not the same brother i shared a dream with”
Tumblr media
we can obviously see the hurt in his eyes before his face is masked by shadow. i think that deep down he already knew that rin wouldn’t accept his “new dream” but was still hoping he would. rin saying this was just the confirmation that he would, in fact, not accept it
again this post is half analysis half theory. personally i think that the brothers, in their own way, were trying to defend their relationship. rin wanted to keep the previous them, the them that were together in their dream always. sae wanted to preserve his relationship with rin somehow, seeing as how much he changed after his time in spain
sae, in his own way, is still trying to protect rin. at first, his original plan was to make rin the best striker by becoming the best midfielder. that way, rin isn’t alone when he finally faces the world. however, as rin didn’t want to give up on their dream, then sae decided that the best course of action was to destroy that dream so that rin wouldn’t get hurt any further
Tumblr media
in my eyes this is the moment sae steels his resolve to shatter that dream. he then faces away from rin so his resolve doesn’t shatter, knowing that seeing his brother’s face in anguish will weaken that resolve
Tumblr media
the fallout hurt both of them, but that hurt spiraled into two different responses. sae becomes completely aloof to rin, while rin begins to harbor a boiling “hate” towards sae.
after the u-20 game, we immediately see that rin’s “hate” for sae is in fact not hate. his first instinct is to call sae “nii-chan” a deeply affectionate title that hasn’t been said since that night. however, sae crushes rin’s spirit by saying that isagi is the one that has the potential to change japan’s soccer
now here i think sae, in his own, messed up way, is trying to motivate rin into becoming the best in the world. the worst part i think is that it works, as this is one of the critical moments that causes rin’s way of thinking to change, with the other one being the fallout. here, crushing sae is no longer his “first and foremost” priority, and he’s instead setting his sights on becoming the best, without anyone or anything holding him back
i’m not very good at articulating my thoughts and there ARE some things i wanted to put here, but i couldn’t explain them in a way that’s coherent to anyone other than me. but the final thought im getting away with here is that ultimately, the brothers still haven’t given up on their dream, whether they’re aware of it or not. by inadvertently giving rin motivation to become the best, sae is still giving rin a chance to catch up to him. in the same vein, rin’s desire to catch up to and surpass sae is his desire to prove his worth to sae again
once again these are just my personal views on the relationship. i could be wrong, i could be right, i could be partially wrong or i couldve missed the point completely. either way i just needed to get that out of my brain. so if u have anything to contradict me with or anything to add, please feel free to do so! i love hearing ab other people’s thoughts anyways <33

Okay just a quick moment of thought. Would it be possible for Kaiser to take the offer at Real Madrid (¥2000 up chances if he ever). Since he rigged the scores high around ¥350M, if he took that opportunity. He and Sae would be in one impeccable team although in this case; it is NOT a good meet up for KaiSae. One, to think Kaiser's level can be a hindered factor on Sae's, we cannot identify Sae's past reasons as to why his dreams changed his he got into Spain. Lastly the second thought I think it'll be either Sae will live up onto his foot and Kaiser is Kaiser as he is. Or it'll be another egoist stepping stone once he come across Sae by any moment.
I'd like to take an interesting theory of where other people theorized Sae and Kaiser might've met before. But what do you all think?

Guuuys, I really think Nagi is gonna be kicked out of Blue Lock
Look, I love the guy, but he's been set up to fail from the beginning.
Remember when, in Episode Nagi, he had that talk with Ego, and Nagi said he can easily visualize himself winning in that example scenario Ego had shared?
That's delusion right there.
He's a genius, yes, but he's pretty much a newbie to soccer as well. He still had a lot to learn, yet at that moment he was so over his head.
He's changed a lot since then, of course, but in the recent chapters, we see him dwindling down. Not to mention the recent philosophy of delusion vs confidence. We were so focused on Yukimiya for this, but Nagi was also right there!!!
Earlier, I made a brief post about how it is important to delineate between their dream and their ego, and how one's ego must be strong enough to support their dream. I am yet to go into detail on this but...
Nagi had achieved his dream of beating Isagi by relying, not on his own ego, but on Reo's. Reo's ego was strong enough to beat Isagi that one time.
Unless Nagi can clearly define his ego, there really will be no more miracles for him

ppl are predicting that the next chapter is called "triple jump up" bc isagi's salary will increase to 150 million yen, but i don't really think that'll be the case. sure, the last goal he made with hiori was super impressive, but idk if it was necessarily worth 100 million yen. remember barou had to make a hat trick in order for his salary to be 100 million.
i believe that rin will be the one with a tripled salary increase considering the fact that he scored a hat trick against manshine. he's currently at 36 million, so he'd be worth 108 million which seems more reasonable
idk i'm not 100% against the idea of isagi's salary increasing by that much, but i don't think it's likely. still, it would be pretty cool bc that would mean his salary would be half of kaiser's

These Itoshi brothers are going to be my end one day.
Tumblr media
Every time I'm like, "Yay, I made a sensible theory. I'll stick to it now," these two always whack me out of nowhere. It's like they love to go, "🗣️📢 HELL NAH❗HE-HE-HELL NAH❗"
Anyway, so I was re-reading Rin's part in the LN, and I realised something:
So, after Sae left for Spain, there was a visible decline in the performance of both Rin and their Soccer Youth Club. Rin says it's because he could see the goal path and stuffs, BUT his teammates couldn't and the only person who could match his vision was, of course, Sae.
That's why Rin had to change his playstyle to match that of the Team's. He began passing instead of waiting for a pass and all. Things starts to get better, and the whole team starts to get their glory days back.
There was a line in the LN which goes something like, "The teammates thought they were playing good, but they were actually just playing in strings of Rin's. Rin was controlling everything."
He then goes, "This is tough and Nii-chan was doing this all along? Nii-chan was holding back. That's why he chose to go to Spain, so he can play the way he wants."
See.
THIS
is exactly where my brain started to churn.
So, Sae was in that soccer club since way long, and he was legit considered as the pillar of it or something. However, all these years, he was, in fact, holding back himself and when he got to go to Spain, he thought like, "Yes! Finally! I can show the world what I got," but sadly, he found out he just wasn't it.
Maybe it could be because he played UNLIKE his real self for so long that he forgot himself.
OR
He just wasn't that good as he thought he was. He found out that he was the Frog in the well.
HOWEVER.
He still had Rin back home, and he trusted him because he knew about his younger brother's true potential or impulses.
So time passed and the day of the U-15 Championship Finals came.
Reminder: Sae was scouted by Real Madrid/Re Al when he won in the U-15 Championship alongside Rin. That's why it was really important for Rin to win that Final match too.
What I said above was a fact Sae, probably, knew too. That's why he came a whole day AHEAD of his schedule to watch the younger Itoshi play with his own eyes (Rin had pointed out that Sae was supposed to come a day after).
But, surprisingly, what Sae saw was what he feared— he saw Rin play the way he himself used to. He was probably like, "I sacrificed everything for you and you became exactly what I sacrificed myself for you to NOT be."
Reminder: Rin gets into his real flow state/becomes berserk during the LAST three minutes of the whole game.
Which gives us two possibilities:
Firstly, Sae just gets up and leave without seeing Rin's berserk mode. After which he comes back to confront him once the match is over.
Secondly, Sae stayed the whole match and saw Rin's berserk mode and was somewhat relieved to know that the younger Itoshi hadn't completely lost his true self. After which the confrontation proceeds.
I don't want to say much about their reunion in this post, but I do want to add another perspective to why Sae challenged Rin for a 1V1:
Sae, probably, had thought that, "I couldn't beat the world and if you can't even beat me, then you are nothing in this world."
That's it, I guess.
.
.
.
I really wish for a Itoshi brothers spin-off because it's hinted that they had a big shared room, so I really want to see how everything is like after Sae returns from Spain.

What exactly happened in the Wild Card?
So what exactly is the “Wild Card"? As of now, we know that it’s an experiment to create a player with the same exact characteristics as Noel Noa, the world’s greatest striker. Additionally, only Blue Lock participants who had lost were able to participate. One of those losers in question was Rensuke Kunigami.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not knowing what awaited ahead of him, unwilling to give up, Kunigami went through the Wild Card door, with only a slither of hope left. When he opened that door once again, he was a completely different person.
Ego himself had explained he forced different philosophies on the ones who competed in the Wild Card. And yet with every visual depiction of the Wild Card, you can see corpses lying on top of eachother, with only one survivor being emphasized.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So what does this mean? What does this say about Kunigami, the only one who survived the Wild Card? After theorizing and thinking about it for a long time, I kept on reaching the same conclusion…
Kunigami is a c*nnibal. Now does that sound absurd? Yes, but there’s a surprising lot of evidence pointing to it. By the end of this analysis, you’ll be convinced. Now the best way of explaining this is splitting it into sections.
How? Why?
Symbolism
Mannerisms
Conclusion
Tumblr media
1. How? Why?
Old tribes, like the Aztec or the Tonkawa, had two main types of c*nnibal customs: those who ate their own people, and those who only ate their enemies. The wild card, being the latter, is comparable in this respect. It is first and foremost a group of competitors trying to defeat each other by any means possible. Now this doesn’t immediately mean c*nnibalism, what if they just killed one another? That’s also a plausible theory, but think about it, what else would they be able to eat and drink?
I highly doubt that the ones fighting for their lives were being malnourished and given supplies to survive. That’s what they got spoiled with in blue lock already, and they already failed. Now this isn’t to say they got told, “Go eat each other!”, because how would that help their strength in the slightest? These participants are probably doing something similar to endoc*nnibalism, eating humans only after they have died. I imagine it could be something like a fight to the death, and whoever dies has to give up their body to the survivors. It could be even less literal like whoever loses a soccer match dies.
But how would this be possible? Wouldn’t this be incredibly illegal? Think about it this way, no matter what had happened down there, it definitely wasn’t safe. What’s even more surprising is if people actually made it out alive, because as of now, nobody but Ego, Noa, and Kunigami has even mentioned what the Wild Card is about. It’s very likely those bodies are all still down there. But if that’s true, wouldn’t Ego be worried people might find the bodies and Blue Lock would be shut down? That’s why he thought of the quickest and efficient way of getting rid of them.
Back to Ego and Noa, isn’t the entire goal of this to get a player to have the same abilities Noa has? Even to surpass him? Why would Ego go through all this effort for something that isn’t even related to football? If you guessed it, then that’s right. Noel Noa is also a c*nnibal. That is his core component that makes him the best striker in the world, one that no one can beat, not Isagi, not Sae, not even Ego. That is Noel Noa’s true power, and that’s what Ego set out to create.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Symbolism
Even with my theory aside, there’s symbolism hinting at Kunigami being a c*nnibal.
In mythology, c*nnibalism is a method for revenge or hatred. From the moment Kunigami lost that match against Shidou his ego has only grown larger. I can only assume he wants to play against Shidou once again for revenge, but even if that isn’t his main goal, he wants to prove to everybody how much stronger he’s gotten so he can beat them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this might sound like a stretch, but comparisons to mythology have been used before. One example is the animals that represent the players. Shidou’s dragon in mythology represents supernatural power, untamed nature, and is the embodiment of chaos. Reo’s chameleon represents transformation, balance, and the passage of time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
C*nnibalism also often symbolizes others that are less than fully human in some way. Take stories with c*nnibals into consideration like "Hansel and Gretel," "Jack and the Beanstalk," and "Little Red Riding Hood." You have witches, giants, and wolves. None of them are entirely human. And just like Kunigami, he’s lost part of his humanity and personality from when the series began.
There are other comparisons I could make, but I think those two are enough to understand how c*nnibalistic symbolism fits Kunigami’s character perfectly.
3. Mannerisms
Kunigami becomes much more cold post Wild Card, similar to someone like Rin or Barou. He also seems to reject how he acted in the past. He’s a lot more cruel towards people too, even ones he considered to be friends. He might be pushing them away from him on purpose. Not just so he can be the singular best striker, but maybe because he’s also resisting the temptation to eat them every second of the day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Besides the fact Kunigami throws insults from time to time, he’s usually eerily quiet, even when they’re losing. His face also remains the same, neutral frown. This might seem insignificant until you see it happen ALL the time. Even in important frames, he either stays silent or says something short.
Whenever we’re learning about Kunigami and his skills, it's always from Isagi’s perspective. We almost never get any explanations from Kunigami himself. We know so little about him even though at the time of making this he’s been in three games with Isagi post Wild Card. So many panels wasted with just Kunigami’s face looking upset without knowing his true thoughts whatsoever.

Considering Blue Lock spends so much time explaining things through other people’s POV, the lack of Kunigami’s has to be on purpose. The authors don’t want us to know what’s going on in Kunigami’s brain, his thoughts are supposed to be a secret from the audience. But now we know… He is constantly thinking about eating the players in Blue Lock.
Tumblr media
Every second, every minute of the day, Kunigami is stuck in a battle between his urges and his rationality. He tries his hardest to stay away from his friends because he wants to eat them so badly. He’s reminded of the trauma and pain he had to go through in the Wild Card, and wants to take out his hunger on his closest comrades. He spends so much time looking at them, not saying a thing, wondering the value of their lives day by day. That is Kunigami’s true nature.

He wants to eat Chigiri the most.
4. Conclusion
To sum it all up, Kunigami is most definitely a c*nnibal. From the symbolism, to the plot, it all matches up in the end. I recommend you to re-read Blue Lock from chapter 155 and replace all the silence Kunigami has in those panels with his c*nnibalistic thoughts. It truly enhances the story and further strengthens my theory.
How do I think the story will go on from here? I believe once Isagi finds out the truth about Noel Noa and how he’s a c*nnibal he will be shocked, but he will also ask Kunigami for advice. I’d say the most likely to get eaten would be Nagi, but that might cause an uproar and ruin Kunigami’s reputation, so I have come up with three possible solutions.
1: Kunigami eats Isagi and goes to jail
2: Isagi and Kunigami team up to eat someone together who is not well-known
3: Kunigami goes to recovery therapy
And that’s the end of this theory. Remember, this is all speculation and I could be wrong! But there's technically no way of disproving this theory either since none of us knows what actually happened in the Wild Card. Have a good day everybody, Mod Bachira signing off!

Just read the newest chapter and I’m now almost 100% sure that Isagi’s team is gonna lose this game. Like, he got his goal and maybe he will score again in this game but in the end his team will lose this one.

Beserk Dortmund
Ok, so I talked a bit in a previous post about why Bastard Munchen may be called Bastard Munchen, as in, why the author may have chosen that name for the team (which is, basically, cuz Kaiser is bastard and he’s the soul of his team, so DUH).
Now, I’m here to take a look at Bersek Dortmund and this time, this won’t be quite as crack-ish as the above. I’ll divide this into 2 parts and get into the why I think this team ended up being called “Berserk Dortmund” in the 2nd part.
For now though, I’ll focus a bit on the reality behind the inspiration for the team that bid 17.000.000 ¥ on Isagi Yoichi and what this may tell us about where the story is headed.
First of all, as plenty of readers may already have found out, Berserk Dortmund is more than likely the fictive equivalent of the real life Borussia Dortmund.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why this is important, I have divided into 2 main points, which I will now cover:
1. Borrusia Dortmund is the club where the Footbonaut is used, which I talked about once before, as it can be seen in the manga; it is basically the room where all the players had to score 100 goals in 90 minutes, before advancing to the second selection and where the weapons of all the first selection survivors were polished, in expectance for the next part of their training.
While in real life, there may be no holograms, there is a room where footballs are ejected at players from different angles, at varrying speed, as the goal post where they have to score lights up.
Therefore, perhaps this is a way of foreshadowing Isagi’s further development as a player? His refining of a weapon that will surpass even Kaiser Impact? Or perhaps it is meant to suggest to us the readers, the state of limbo in which the character finds himself, as he strives to overcome his opponent, before having succeeded in his endeavour.
2. Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich (the real life equivalent of Bastard Munchen) are real life rivals, which is transposed in the fictional work as well, through Raichi’s remarks and which further echoes the rivalry between Isagi and Kaiser.
Tumblr media
That being said, according to Wikipedia, the two teams competed for many Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal (football cup competition held anyually by the German Football Association) and DFL-Supercup titles (a one off match between the winners of the above mentioned titles).
From what I’ve found online, I understand that a match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich is even called Der Klassiker, as it is a match between two of Germany’s biggest teams.
Now, whether there is any foreshadowing here, remains to be seen; maybe this is a way of letting us know that the rivalry between Isagi and Kaiser will span across many chapters of the manga and yet unwritten arcs, beyond the training that Blue Lock is currently undergoing and well into the future…
.
.
.
And I’ll stop here for now, cuz this is already so long and I don’t wanna bore anyone reading this whole thing! That being said, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and look forward to part 2!😉😄

So after the 239 chapter leak, the next one will be at chapter 240 "Triple Jump Up" I saw birds on their posts saying that Isagi will get 3× his worth, probs ¥150M and Rin having +3 goals setting 200M. I was wondering if Chigiri will also get another inflation despite his 1 goal against P.X.G to accredit it on his field. Isagi is getting close but I'm excited how this chapter will reveal it in the next leak updates.
