Plants. Each year I obsess over the giant architectural spikes of the Echium’s and how the gardens leading down the seafront are just the perfect setting for them. You really get to view these beauties from all angles. We are fortunate that our climate here is warm enough for them to self seed, as they only flower every second year. Trees. It’s that time of year when the Pyracanthas are on fire! Beautiful as hedges, or trained against a wall, or even grown as a tree like this example. Trees. Look at this perfect row of pleached cherry trees set in the beautiful grounds of @wivenhoehouse We were fortunate enough to steal a night away and this was our backdrop at breakfast. Pleached trees are a really great way of dividing space, blocking unwanted views or even softening the sun’s rays, but all done in a totally natural ‘meant to be there’ way. Colutea or Bladder Senna are so called for their rather lovely inflated seed pods, which pop once fully ripe in order to spread their seeds.
