oh really? he's sexually confused? how about we take a deep dive into YOU, Gary, cuz things he does in the game are a little... fruity.

exhibit A: In game, Jimmy never TOLD Gary his name, or even the fact that "Jimmy" was a nickname, and his real name was James. How would Gary know this so quickly? Was there any off-screen dialouge? Did he just *happen* to know?

exhibit B: In the mission Halloween, Gary's "in Jimmy's bed like he belonged there" (quoting @canibitchcanemedit ) Why was he in Jimmy's bed? How did he know Jimmy's clothing size? Why was he so prepared to paint Jimmy's face? (this never happened on screen, just an assumption)

exhibit C: "nothing escapes my notice" That one just speaks for itself

exhibit D: After his betrayal of Jimmy, he was CONSTANTLY talking about Jimmy to other people, saying he's sexually confused among other things. Why did he know all of these things about Jimmy? Why was he constantly thinking and talking about Jimmy?

idk yall, for someone who repeatedly called Petey gay, kinda sounds like he's projecting. If I missed anything, lmk, this post is mostly satire, but still... Gary's a little fruity.

inspired by @canibitchcanemedit , I'd like to ramble on about the mental health stigma of Gary and how I can relate.

I used to act like him. granted, I wasn't donned in a n*zi outfit or openly admitting to manipulating people, mainly because I was 8/9 years old, but I did sort of have the same social responses.

at the time, I was socially ostracized and bullied by people who lived next door to me, for about 2 or 3 years? so I sorta became an ass to others, looked for power within my peers, etc. I don't have the best words to sorta describe it, but

gary is not a sociopath, psychopath, whathaveyou. he was looking for compassion, then denied it, so he took it out on others and got reality checked. I feel like school was really the only place he felt he had control, and looked for friendships with people he knew he could have power over.

granted, not excusing his actions, but it's sorta shitty when people refer to him as a crazy deranged sociopath and write him that way and erase what sort of mental impact losing to jimmy would've had on him. then (idk if this is canon) being sent off to happy volts. would he be hateful? would he reconsider his actions? I feel like that's sorta situation dependent and we don't really know. speaking from experience. it probably would have changed him a lot.

but please stop writing him that way. it's lazy and frankly shows no real development in his character.

imo I sorta hc him as treating petey like shit because he was jealous. jealous that petey was emotive. that he was emotionally in tune, when Gary didn't really have that quality. he was jealous because petey could get on well with others and didn't push others away. and when jimmy came along, he was a real friend to Gary, and he didn't know how to respond so he pushed him away and made sure that the unfamiliarness that came with being friends with Jimmy never would come back.

he was responding to trauma. it's not like he can't feel empathy, or sympathy, or guilt. imo, he was never a narcissist. he just didn't know how to respond and freaked out, which sent him spiraling.
