So, I ordered this little gremlin from Italy like two months back. It finally came in the mail today. I guess back in the ‘90s, Slayers was advertised like your average merchandise driven Saturday morning cartoon in Italy. That’s really interesting. I couldn’t pass up owning an oddity like this. I mean, look at it. Considering that Lina is 4′10″, this figure is roughly in the 5-inch scale so if you ever wanted a Lina Inverse to go with your ‘90s ToyBiz Marvel figures and Playmates TMNT toys here you go.
It also came with that little button you see. It’s a very choppy photo copy of a smug Lina. The button is really weird. I doesn’t have a metal pin and it instead has a big plastic clip. I guess they didn’t want to sell something with a metal pin to children.
Overall, you can’t really pose it all that much since it doesn’t have leg or shoulder articulation and it’s also hard to stand but I’m still glad to own it. Very neat thing to add to my collection. I’ll probably end up buying Gourry at least. Maybe Zel too. Despite the fact that Amelia is on the back of the card, they didn’t make her. Quite unfortunate. There’s a little * next to Amelia’s name and then a * next to something that reads “prossimamente nella collezione.”
Apparently “prossimamente nella collezione” means something along the lines of “soon in the collection” according to Google Translate so that means maybe they were gonna make her at some point but then didn’t. I wonder if a prototype exists? I’d love to see a wave 2 of this line. Could we have seen a Zolf? Maybe a Noonsa or Dilgear? Perhaps even Prince Phil! We may never know what a hypothetical second wave would have looked like.
