Teli Ka Mandir — One of the Ancient Temples in Madhya Pradesh, India
Gwalior is a place where myth and history come together in an ancient inscription. Successive rulers have added to the architectural heritage of this city. Gwalior Fort, the pride of Gwalior is a structure with some of the finest architecture in the heart of incredible India.
Tumblr media
The impressive Teli ka Mandir inside the Gwalior Fort, one of the tallest structures in the complex, is an example of the Dravidian style architecture and can be counted as one of the most beautiful shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was built in 9th century AD during the reign of Pratihara king Mihir Bhoja. As per a legend, it was built with the money donated by oil merchants. Hence, the name Teli Ka Mandir! Tourists can also find this information in the inscription written on the main gate of the temple.
Around 30-meter in height, the temple comprises a sanctum accompanied by a porch and a doorway. There are stairs in the east to enter this marvelous architecture. The special feature of the temple is its arched roof, built in the Dravidian style. It is a perfect example of amalgamation of North Indian and South Indian temple architecture. The shape of the roof can be easily identified as an example of Dravidian style of architecture, while the embellishments are Indo-Aryan. The decorations resemble those found in northern India and figures of river goddesses, coiled serpents, amorous couples, and flying Garuda can be seen here.
The two pavilions and the entrance to the eastern side of the temple were built later by an English architect. The British used the temple courtyard as a coffee shop that is mentioned in the inscription on the main entrance.
Gwalior is best known for its imposing hilltop fort. If you are planning to explore the best tourist destinations in Gwalior, then browse the website of Madhya Pradesh Tourism that will help you to find travel and tourism-related information with photos, sightseeing, travel agents & tour guides.

Do you want to take the Mathura vrindavan tour packages from delhi? Before knowing about the Vrindavan tour packages or Mathura vrindavan tour packages, lets just know the legacy of Mathura and Vrindavan.
About Mathura and Vrindavan
The medieval city of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, situated on the banks of the holy river Yamuna, is one of India's most important religious attractions. Mathura is a labyrinth of alleyways flanked by temples, old ghats, and numerous stories of Lord Krishna born here, ringing throughout the streets.
Several temples dedicated to Lord Krishna, one of Lord Vishnu's most prominent and beloved avatars, are located around the city. They provide a glimpse into the heavenly era, as reflected in the stages of Lord Krishna's existence. Mathura, one of the country's seven holiest cities, has a rich cultural legacy that affects the soul. Lord Krishna, the son of Mata Devaki and Vasudeva, is said to have been born in a jail cell in this hallowed place some 5,000 years ago.
Mathura appeared in the Hindu epic Mahabharata and was a component of the powerful Mauryan Empire in the first century BC. It flourished under the administration, becoming a major center for the arts.
The Mathura School of Arts, which developed between the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD, included stone carving and sculpting. In the 3rd century BC, King Ashoka, the famous Mauryan liege, is credited with erecting various Buddhist structures in and around Mathura. In reality, most of the sculptures and carvings created during this time had a Buddhist theme, with the bulk of them being inspired by and depicting Lord Buddha somehow. However, as the Mauryans' rule ended, Buddhism's influence began to fade, and Hindu temples began to take its place.

ISKCON Temple
The Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir is located in Vrindavan's Raman Reti region and is devoted to the brothers Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram. It was the desire of Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder acharya of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), to build a temple dedicated to the brothers in the same location where they played thousands of years ago. He was so concerned about the temple's construction and architecture that he oversaw it and prayed to Balaram, the god of spiritual strength, to bless his believers.

The Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, which is supposed to have been erected around the prison cell where Lord Krishna was born, is the most important pilgrimage site in Mathura.
