Hanon Tiny Wardrobe [Review]
Summary
Finally an English book! This one is a real treasure, a book from HANON, a creator and customiser who I think is well known in the blythe community. There are 12 patterns to follow and the resulting pieces in this book have an oversized silhouette. They have been made up in natural materials with warm muted colours which gives them a lot of charm and elegance. The first half of the book is editorial style photography showing off the fashions.  The instructions follow, and are also accompanied by nice clear photos. The patterns are inserted at the back and can be pulled out for photocopying and use.

Pros
Beginner friendly
Gorgeous photos of final pieces and styling ideas
Very clear photographic step-by-step instructions
Lots of patterns
Lovely binding
Includes a few extra techniques like embroidery that were nice to see / learn
Includes tips and tricks from Hanon, like washing finished pieces in water to get great pleats and wrinkles
There’s some cute extras - like a handbag and shoe pattern
Cons
The patterns are very oversized which I personally didn’t always like
Final thoughts
This one is an easy recommend, if only for the fact that it’s in English. I’ve made at least half a dozen patterns from the book and they were easy to follow with clear photographs for each step. I think the patterns are versatile and can look very different depending on the fabric and decorations chosen.

Note
I hope this isnt too dumb a question but WHERE DO YOU FIND ALL THESE CUTE CLOTHES PATTERNS! The Succulent Dress and the yellow jacket with the fuzzy hood are so cute! I also have a MNF Mir/ka on an M line body but i've been neglecting them for a bit... its hard to find cute clothes sometimes.
I get my patterns a lot of different places! A lot of the more specialized patterns (i.e. most of Simon’s fancy dresses) are by Requiem Art Designs  and my favorite button-up shirt pattern is from Antique Lilac. I also have a few patterns I found on Etsy.
The succulent dress and the hoodie both come from Japanese pattern books, however. The dress is from a book call My First Doll Coordinate Recipe. All the instructions are in Japanese, but they also have pictures, and I find them easy to follow. The hoodie came from Doll Coordinate Recipe 6. This book only has written instructions, also in Japanese, and I mostly made my best guess about how it went together.
I also have Treasured Doll Coordinate Recipe Book and Doll Sewing HANON (available in English as Tiny Wardrobe). These kinds of books generally focus more on 1/6 scale dolls like Blythe, but some of them have large sizes like Unoa or Obitsu 50. Some of the newer books might be available from Japanese hobby stores like AmiAmi or Hobby Link Japan, but I usually get mine second-hand from Mandarake or Ebay

Online resources for making BJD clothes and shoes
(Updated 25 June 2020 with my/ Small Wonder romper pattern)
I've been wanting to collate a list of quality resources available free online - primarily sewing patterns, but also tutorials and tips.  These are generally ones I’ve found to be pertinent, accurate and useful in crafting for my own dolls.
I'll be updating this list from time to time.  It is directly accessible from the “Resources” link at the top of my main Tumblr page.  Please feel free to comment if you have something to say or any resources to recommend!
