Fic Claim: Nighthawks [Drarry | 13.5k | M]

Written for @hdowlpost 2022 as a gift for @legendrarry Summary: "The more he’d thought about it–and he had thought about it–the less certain he’d become that Draco had really been there, glowing in the murky glass of the diner window next to Harry’s stunned reflection like some cruel mockery of the Mirror of Erised. The longer he’d lain in bed, awake and fully clothed, the more convinced he was that he’s having some sort of mental breakdown. The long days and even longer nights must finally be getting to him, just like Hermione said they would. Because the fact of the matter is that Draco Malfoy couldn’t have been in this diner, his diner. Draco is thousands of kilometers, and a whole lifetime, away." In which Harry and Draco frequent the same diner when they can't sleep. Except--Draco left the UK five years ago, right after he broke Harry's heart.

Notes:

It was a pleasure to create this gift for Sam! Their sign-up was so inspiring to me that I immediately got writing, and I'm so pleased with the result.

Fic Recs: Don't let these 2 Drarry Fics get lost in the Winter Flurry of Fests.

There is so much fic being posted right now, I wanted to make sure these two gems get noticed. The first is from @slythindor100's 25 Days of Draco and Harry 2022. The Rubble of Time is so appropriately named. It's a time travel fic to alternate universes. It begins with Draco and Harry as a couple but a failing one. Draco will go to any measure to save them, to make it right. Using Dark Magic, he goes on a quest to find the answer to help them succeed. This fic is so good in that we see so many renditions of H/D and experience the emotional range with them. One in particular will break your heart because of the depth of their love. The author is sunsetdawn20 on AO3. The fic may not be completed by Christmas as because...you know...real life, but I have no doubts it will be finished soon enough.

The second fic is from @hdowlposts and is called Nighthawks by Anon. The last line of the summary is enough to make you gulp hard: "In which Harry and Draco frequent the same diner when they can't sleep. Except--Draco left the UK five years ago, right after he broke Harry's heart."

The atmosphere of the loneliness of being in an all night diner drinking bad coffee, while the rest of the world sleeps is palpable. Both Harry and Draco in this fic have moved on since the breakup but still the emptiness remains. So much so for Harry that he's lost a bit of touch with reality because of his insomnia. The fic is exquisitely written and the 13.5K of words will flow by.

Every participant choses an Owl and creates a Wish List with their wishes and the kind of gifts they are willing to create. *Here is the Wish List Template*.

If you don't have a LiveJournal account, you can sign up with Open ID or by commenting anonymously on the sign-up post. You can also mail your Wish List to the mods at [email protected], and we will post your Sign-up | Wish List for you.

We accept any kind of Drarry themed gift that can be sent by Owl (i.e. posted to AO3). Accepted gifts include fics, drabbles, art works, gif sets, story banners, vids, podfics, manips, beta readings, squeeful and/or in-depth comments, icons, poems, recipes, playlists – in short, whatever somebody offers to create.

The mods assign gifters for each participant. This is an anon exchange - you will not know who created your gifts until the Reveals. Every participant will receive at least three gifts. They may be small gifts and they may not be exactly what you wished for but they will be made with love and enthusiasm. ♥

Gifts are due November 13, 2022!

In December the Owls are delivered (i.e. posted). Each day another participant will be presented with their gifts for as long until the Owlery is empty and all Owls have been sent. Gifts will be revealed on AO3, and linked to from LJ, Discord and tumblr.
