I’m just so upset that this whole mess has gotten to this level. It’s obvious that his team & M are NOT going quietly into the good night . And now the D tweeter responses & SM bullying? This all can’t possibly be good for D. Regardless of how we feel - we need to accept the fact that his team is in complete control right now. By no means does this mean that we stop voicing our concerns but to be very prepared for the negative backlash. Hoping D stays strong! Thoughts?
Nonnie, I’m sorry this is upsetting you. It has certainly amped up lately. Those that support the lazy, talentless ”wife” have taken things too far. They are making ugly accusations and just generally being horrible, but then, look at who they have elevated to kween status. As has been pointed out repeatedly, our fandom is not very large anymore and we do, for the most part, stay in our lane. I never go to M/iarren blogs because it’s not the fandom I am part of and I could care less what they have to say. I’m not interested in having them fawn all over the 7,248th picture of D looking like he’d rather be executed than spend time with his “wife” and refusing to touch her more than absolutely necessary. Now, you’re always going to have some people that don’t know when to stop, but that’s true of every fandom.
As to the T/witter and SM posts, I take those with a grain of salt. It’s well known it’s rarely, if ever, D himself posting on those sites. The GA doesn’t care, and every fandom is going to have their own take on what is said in his name. I agree, it doesn’t help his image in fandom, but that’s a small demographic.
His team (and yes, I include M in that category) is absolutely in complete control right now, but D is still doing what he can to rebel. I believe he’s decided to write off most of this year to fulfill whatever terms he agreed to with the team and it wouldn’t shock me if that’s why he hasn’t pursued any major work projects. Well, that and RR sucks out loud as a manager and has NEVER gotten D a single worthwhile job.
They can come at us all they want, ir just convinces me more that they know something is amiss with that relationship dynamic that they yell is “relationship goals” all the time. It’s not going to stop most of us from talking when we see something we know is wrong. There is now a very public record of all their nasty words about us individually and as a fandom including yelling about how horrible some of us are and making wild accusations. All we can do is block and ignore them and go about our lives, posting what we feel is relevant on our PERSONAL blogs. They are attempting to bully us off of Tumblr, and I refuse to give them what they want. I have just as much right as any of them to be here and I’m allowed to post what I believe on my blog. If someone doesn’t like it or agree, all they have to do is hit the block button and they won’t have to see what I write.
D is stronger than they can even fathom, and he has a wonderful support system. It’s gotten him through to this point, and it will help him face whatever life throws at him in the future.

FEATURE: Introducing the Incredible Director of the Horimiya Adaptation!
Tumblr media
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Why It Works. Just recently, we received news of an upcoming winter production, the adaptation of the much-loved romantic comedy Horimiya. Though I haven’t read Horimiya myself, I’ve been hearing a variety of good things about it for years now. Apparently, it’s one of those rare and precious romantic comedies where rather than focusing on “will they or won’t they” tension, it actually explores the compelling dynamics of two people in a genuine relationship — and it’s willing to take bolder steps in that exploration than the vast majority of its contemporaries. That said, whatever merits Horimiya may have, it’s not actually the manga’s material that has me excited here — it’s the long-awaited return of its director, Masashi Ishihama.
Tumblr media
Don’t feel too bad if Ishihama’s name doesn’t ring a bell. The man has maintained a fairly low profile in the industry in spite of his talent, largely because he just hasn’t held the directorial position in that many shows, or been attached to projects that let his distinctive personality shine. Most recently, he spearheaded the Persona 5 anime adaptation, which felt like a bit of a monkey’s paw situation — Persona 5’s dynamic aesthetic and unique use of color actually feels like it’d fit Ishihama’s style well, but with a conservative adaptive mandate and an overall resource-light adaptation, the show never quite lived up to its full potential.
Rather than full productions, Ishihama is usually brought on board for smaller directorial roles; single episodes of interesting productions, or more frequently, utterly beautiful opening and ending sequences. His ending sequence for ERASED offers a characteristically vivid introduction to his work. Starting from a simple visual composition of a character silhouette walking against a dark background, the sequence evolves into a striking array of intimate compositions and fractured collages, where the emotions of the characters and turns of the plot come through in an emotive, felt sense, purely through the evocative visual compositions.
Tumblr media
Many of Ishihama’s visual signatures are clear in that ending; his dramatic use of silhouettes and flat color contrasts (a preference that likely informed his tenure on Persona 5), as well as his ability to balance almost uncomfortably close, unmediated character art with ornate compositions framed with a painter’s eye for contrast and visual balance. These distinct but complementary compositional preferences are further personalized through Ishihama’s digital-native fluency with post-processing effects. You’ll frequently find the impact of his work intensified through racking focus or grain filters, further enhancing the sense of an artist building a visual collage out of each moment, rather than simply directing a camera to capture the characters in scene.
The idea of Ishihama’s work being a visual collage reflects more than his focus on contrast and composition. The man’s works frequently employ patchwork geometric shapes, further distilling characters from no-shading color blocks into base visual components, and demonstrating that his flat color aesthetic is informed by a full understanding of superflat art design. These stylish compositions are further personalized through his fondness for stylish, frequently diegetic typography; in total, his mix of interests and profound understanding of visual storytelling make for sequences that are simultaneously rich in thematic or character meaning, and also simply beautiful in the abstract.
Tumblr media
But even if the world at large has yet to recognize Ishihama’s talents, his fellow anime creators certainly have. That’s why, along with his formidable opening and ending collection, he’s also frequently brought in to helm single standout episodes of other animator-friendly productions. He storyboarded and directed the solely Takashi Kojima-animated episode of Your Lie in April, and contributed an episode of Occultic;Nine that was absolutely brimming with his signature tricks. Strong use of silhouettes and full-color contrasts, active typography, dynamic compositions, and dramatic post-processing — Ishihama employs a palette of visual tools that is both distinctive and diverse, ensuring that all his works bear his signature, but also stand-alone as artistic achievements.
Though he’s contributed terrific material to many productions over the years, among his own works, From the New World stands as an indisputable masterpiece. Tackling an absurdly ambitious post-apocalyptic drama, Ishihama blessed some of anime’s strongest adapted material with an adaptation that exemplified all his strengths, from his remarkable affinity for color contrast to his post-processing mastery. At the same time, From the New World offered plentiful room for individual animators like Kojima to shine, demonstrating an understanding and deference to the power of art in motion that could only come from a personal background in animation.
Tumblr media
Altogether, Masashi Ishihama strikes me as one of anime’s prime powder kegs, a motherlode of talent who, with the right material, could easily explode on a global stage. I’ve been praying he’d get attached to a production worthy of his talents for years, and with Horimiya just months away, I’m fervently hoping this, at last, is Ishihama’s day. Whatever your genre preferences, it’s likely you’ve already been dazzled by Ishihama’s work in one way or another — and this winter, I hope you’ll join me in checking out his latest creation.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this exploration of Ishihama’s talent, and let me know your own favorite works of his in the comments!

Ramblings From An Alpaca Farm In South Wiltshire: July 2017
We are waiting for a reputation from her owner so for the time being she is simply known as 'the baby'. She was actually a wholesome 7.5 kilos at beginning and was very quickly up and exploring. That is 5 down and 5 to go for us, ladies shading it thus far at 3 -2. Final evening the elite boys of the mighty Patou shearing crew turned up for some more action. Charlie and Kevin have been very sort in helping with the shearing, I simply couldn't do it with out them. They're very fast to point out the bits I have missed or not performed to their satisfaction, very fast indeed the truth is. Each animal is scrutinised because it wanders off and I'm gently reminded what I've achieved effectively and which bits I have to work on. I have always been a great fan of banter and as a disher outer all my life I at all times take pleasure in receiving some back, great enjoyable.
How can you utilize videos and video promoting on-line? What are some great benefits of incorporating it in what you are promoting and internet technique? Learn numerous about utilizing videos and video selling on-line to urge began. A current statistic claimed that over fifty% of on line site visitors is thru video. YouTube videos account for a whopping 12% of all web site visitors. The precise fact is it's good to characteristic some component of video to your marketing plan to get the only outcomes potential-it's that simple. You might be doing not have to lay our a fortune of money to type the swap to video. You'll be able to get a tight recording with any camcorder nowadays. You may have to be taught just a little concerning lighting and background and in spite of everything using the digital camera itself-nevertheless very, that's it. You'll be able to get video ideas and templates from totally different marketer's on line. It is October 1st and fall is within the air. As I walked out the door this morning to collect the hen and duck eggs and feed all the animals my lungs crammed with the crisp morning air. As I inhaled, I may smell a trace of winter on the breeze and as I exhaled the air around me was full of a misty cloud. The fields and pumpkins had been dusted in frost. Mom Nature is simply beginning to paint the leaves of the historic trees in our yard stunning auburn, rust and gold colours. As I approached the barn, I saw the alpacas all wore a skinny blanket of frost that was just beginning to melt into tiny beads as the rays of the early morning sun touched them. As I fed the alpacas grain and water, I seen that this is the primary morning since last winter that the alpacas water buckets had a crystal layer of ice floating at the highest. Autumn is upon us.
Properly, I'll let you know. Now we have decided that we have to do something dramatic with a purpose to take the quality of the Patou herd to the following degree. We do effectively at reveals, we produce lovely commercially viable alpacas, our herd high quality is rising year on year and we are happy with the way things are going, but I want more. We'd like some new genetics and a few prime quality input, we need to add something particular to the herd. And now we have. We have dug deep into our piggy banks and invested in some top stud providers and in addition purchased a share of a severely exciting male. So to the small print. As I write I'm uncertain how a lot I ought to reveal, I used to be superb at maintaining secrets. Sue will say otherwise, however I was. For the time being we've a very handsome male staying with us. Now these of you who know me effectively will know that we breed coloured alpacas, significantly brown alpacas and more not too long ago black alpacas and even the odd grey, but by no means white alpacas.
We just tucked into no matter was on offer and kept our heads down. I ended up sitting subsequent to some ex professional footballer known as Terry, I think that is what he said his identify was, little bit of a cockney, hard to know. He wittered on and on about some very outdated alpacas he had. I assume they have been old, he said they were all grey? Really come to think about it I'm certain he ran an alpaca retirement residence or something? Still he seemed nice enough. I believe he was Dad to Trixie and some lady called Kate from another alpaca herd referred to as Amorous Alpacas? What that was all about is anyone's guess. That they had each brought kids along so I'm glad we introduced the sprog, I did think about leaving him at dwelling. There was additionally one other couple there who I might have sworn stated they were Polish hen stuffers, whatever which means. Effectively ok, only one neck however it is extremely different. Anyway suitably lubed up Sue 'went in'. Immediately she declared 'It appears like a torsion'. Seconds later I used to be on to the vet. We haven't had one of those before, we would have liked assist. The lovely Louise was soon on her means. Thankfully, yesterday we had put up our four x 8 metre marquee in readiness for shearing. We're presupposed to be shearing on Sunday. The weather forecast seems to be set for driving rain all day. Shearing, schmearing, more likelihood of me growing a third arm! Anyway Louise arrived and agreed with Sue's assessment, we had a twisted uterus or a uterine torsion as I've since learned. We untwisted it. Yes, we put Penny down and stretched her out using my shearing ropes, positioned a wide plank throughout her abdomen and untwisted her. It was wonderful! Louise 'went In' and declared that the twist was out and that she could feel a head. No feet, but a head. We retreated for espresso and once we returned the feet had joined the pinnacle in the birthing canal. Should we wait or get it out? We chose to wait. We wanted Penny to do it herself. At 4pm Penny gave birth naturally on her own. Another smashing brown Qjori boy. He weighed in at 9.58kg, a big 'un, but he was up on his ft in ten minutes and he had his first feed inside 15 minutes. NOW WHY Can't All of them Do that? The jury remains to be out on the title. Once i checked him at 8pm he was charging round in the shed. He's going to be advantageous. I'm positive a name will probably be forthcoming in the morning.

A woman was convicted after laughing at Jeff Sessions. It’s my patriotic duty to call bullshit.
I’ve made my career using comedy to expose the hypocrisy of the powerful. It’s dangerous that the Justice Department can’t take a joke.
via Vox
Updated by Lizz Winstead
Maybe we should have guessed that an administration led by a man who didn’t want to be made fun of at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner also may send a lady in a pink crown to jail for laughing at its attorney general. Big shocker. Our overreactive, thin-skinned, sexist thug of a president has created an overreactive, thin-skinned, sexist, thuggish Justice Department.
Earlier this year Desiree Fairooz was arrested for the crime of laughing at a particularly gaslighty comment during the confirmation hearings of Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions. And last week, we learned that she was convicted and could face 12 months in prison, $2,000 in fines, or both.
I’m personally offended by the idea that a bunch of powerful men could lock up a woman who has an appreciation for irony. I’ve made my career using comedy to expose the hypocrisy of the powerful. It’s the whole point of the very popular television program The Daily Show, which I co-created. It’s also the point of Lady Parts Justice League, a cabal of comics I brought together to expose creeps hell bent on destroying access to birth control and abortion.
So when the government comes after a woman for laughing in the face of political hypocrisy, it’s my patriotic duty to call bullshit.
Fairooz was right to laugh at the Sessions confirmation hearing. Everyone should have been laughing.
Here are the horrifically dangerous actions of Desiree Fairooz at Sessions’s January confirmation hearing:
In his glowing remarks about the future attorney general, Sen. Richard Shelby was prattling on that Sessions’s history of “treating all Americans equally under the law is clear and well-documented.”
This is when the laugh came out of Fairooz’s mouth. I am sure it was similar to a variation of the guttural utterances anyone with a heart, a pulse, and a thirst for facts has been spewing during this unintended comedy show we have all been living in since the election.
In fact, Fairooz’s response may have been even more reserved than the spit takes that have wound up on our computer screens, as those sitting near her during the hearings have said her laugh, or gasp or cough or whatever, was so inaudible they couldn’t tell what it was.
I’ll wait for your own laughter to die down, and if jackbooted thugs did not bust your door down and arrest you for letting out a chuckle, read on.
My question is, “Why didn’t the entire room convulse with laughter at that point?”
Jeff Sessions’s history of “treating all Americans equally under the law is clear and well-documented.” LOLOL.
That is comedy gold.
I mean, this is the guy who in 1986 was denied a federal judgeship after it came out that he allegedly said he was okay with the Ku Klux Klan until he found out they smoked pot.
HIS PROBLEM WITH THE KKK WAS THEY SMOKE POT.
In fact, his ties to racist factions at the time were so alarming, Coretta Scott King personally wrote a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee asking that Sessions be denied the position because he “used the awesome powers of his office in a shabby attempt to intimidate and frighten elderly black voters.” Back then, the Senate Judiciary Committee understood that if the widow of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is saying you’re racist, there’s a problem. But in 2017, they seem to say, “Hey, why limit yourself?”
And his “clear and well-documented” treatment of people is not limited to racial inequality. It never is. As senator, Sessions consistently voted against rights for LGBTQ folks. His nomination to attorney general was cheered by anti-abortion extremist Troy Newman.
Jeff Sessions is beyond laughable, and to me the crime is that the whole room wasn’t laughing. Laughing until they were crying.
As a nation, we should all be laughing at the suggestion of Jeff Sessions as a civil libertarian, a fighter of freedom, a person qualified for the job of attorney general of the United States.
And now that he has it, a few months in, his department is prosecuting a woman who laughed at him.
The Trump administration seems to think it can end criticism by punishing it away
As a comedian and satirist, what scares me most is that not taking these licks in stride is the backbone of this administration. And they seem to think they can end criticism by punishing it away.
Even Joe McCarthy is saying from his grave, “Lighten up, man.” Fragile egos are the worst, and those who can’t take a joke are announcing to the world they are impostors. Since laughing at someone creates a status shift, a perceived loss of power is transferred in that moment of release. If you believe you are an impostor, you panic at the loss of even a drop of it and become angry and belligerent as a counterbalance. I watch it with dude hecklers all the time. They can’t shut me down, so they just become loud and rude.
Now we have a president who is basically that insecure, belligerent heckler. But with a Justice Department who can arrest people for “acting up.”
It is scary enough that as comedians and social critics we are facing an ever-growing totalitarianism. I mean, the Federal Communications Commission is investigatingStephen Colbert for a presidential dick joke, for Chrissakes. But when we start arresting and convicting people for laughing, we have created a society that outlaws thinking for ourselves and reacting when we are fed bullshit.
That is literally what happened. Laughing at an outrageous statement from a politician has led to Fairooz being convicted on two counts: engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct with the intent to disrupt congressional proceedings; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing. It’s been pointed out by people who miss the point that the convictions are not for the actual laugh, but for the disturbance made while she was being escorted out of the hearing by a police officer. But because of her laugh, she was seen as so dangerous that she needed to be arrested, so nice try.
Desiree Fairooz laughs for all of us as we watch dangerous incompetence take center stage, from Rick Perry becoming the head of a department whose name he forgot while promising he would abolish it to Betsy DeVos becoming the secretary of education although she has never taught public school — and never attended one either.
Did Fairooz’s laugh sexually assault someone? Did her giggle shoot an unarmed black teenager? Did her chuckle have suspicious connections to Russia that affected our democratic elections? Of course not! Had that been the case, she wouldn’t have to worry about arrest, conviction, or sentencing.
We are all Desiree. Laughing to keep from crying, resisting to keep from hopelessness.
They say it’s the best medicine, and with the health care bill Republicans are trying to pass, we’re gonna need all the free meds we can get.
I’d love to give the administration some advice and alternative rules to try. For example, it’s important to take criticisms with a grain of salt. That’s “salt” not “assault,” just incase you misheard me the first time. Also, try to see the humor in yourself. It’s better for people to laugh with you than at you. Then while you’re laughing, try not destroying the world in a nuclear war over your own fragile male ego.
As for the rest of us, if this is a taste of things to come, you better stifle that cough or that hiccup, because you could do time in the hole.
