Eyelids slowly flickered open and a deep breath was sucked in through parted lips. Limbs flexed in shock as Lydia immediately realized something was wrong. The pain was hot and all-consuming. She let out a distressed cry. Her head tilted to the side and her eyes landed on a figure in the bed next to her. Their wrists buckled down and Lydia looked down to see her own were trapped in the same way. “ what’s going on...” She blinked and looked again. “ Derek?? ”

Lily felt like crap, her energy was all over the place and skin felt like prickly fire all over. She hated this time for one reason because every time it meant locking herself up and waiting it out. Staying close to Derek she curled up almost drinking in the Alpha vibe he gave off. “I hate it, how could anyone possibly enjoy this. You get all sticky and uncomfortable. Pointless. Ugh can I not just curl up at your place and eat all your non existent food. Or like order a ton of take away...please..” Looking up at him now with her cute little wolf eyes.

Open when…❀: it’s valentine’s and i’m out of town

Dear Derek, I’m sorry I can’t be there right now. If this weren’t an emergency, I’d be here by your side. Hopefully Samuel and Lenore are keeping you company. And if you’re reading this letter, then you have received the bouquet as well. I know, a dozen red roses is cheesy, but I love you, and I’ve always wanted to give a bouquet like this to the person I love. 

I don’t really know how to comfort you. Funny, how I can do so well in the moment, but if it’s just to a piece of paper, I go blank. I promise I will give you the biggest kiss and hug when I get back.

I love you more than words can say. For now, please give my love to Samuel and Lenore as well.

He pressed himself against the corner, his arm wrapped around Lydia’s shoulders and protecting her head as the ground shook. He knew it was just an earthquake, there was nothing Superman could do about an earthquake.

Once the rattling stopped he lifted his own head to look at Lydia. “Are you okay?” He asked as he went to open the door, only to find it jammed.

Lydia knew what it was, an earthquake, nothing to be afraid of - she was from California, after all, and the shifting tectonic plates were normal... but the lack of control, feeling trapped, like she had no choice but to wait and see, it was driving her insane. At least she was with Derek, who had grabbed her and pulled her out of open office space, where anything could have fallen onto them, and pulled them into a closet. 

He even went so far as to protect her body with his, and she wanted to stop him, knowing that if anything fell, he could be hurt... But then the shaking stopped, and she could take in a deep breath. The closet was dark and she moved to the door with him, only to find that it couldn’t open.

One of two options... either something had fallen against the door, keeping it unable to open, or the building’s framework had shifted, making the door unable to open at all. She tried to keep her calm and nodded, reaching out in the darkness for him, grabbing his wrist and wrapping her fingers about it. 

“Thank you,” she half whispered, squeezing his hand tight. “Do you think it’s the frame, or did something fall against it?”

Lillian had popped in the shower waiting for Derek to come round, obviously leaving the door unlocked like she did for him. Throwing her wet hair in a ponytail she realised that her top was in the other room, sighing because of her stupidity of not picking up before. In a slight moment of forgetfulness the little omega wolf opened up the door and headed for the living room in her tiny apartment and there he was standing waiting for her. Funny enough there she was too only with one item of clothing missing and now bright red cheeks as he was looking right at her. Arms covering around her chest thankful at least she was wearing a bra. Awkwardly stumbling over to the chair and grabbing her shirt. “I um, Hi Der....so..” Turning around she faced away from him hand gripping into her hair breathing out heavily still for some reason not putting the shirt on and just holding it in her hands. It wasn’t her day.
