You're not selfish when you do something with you in mind first. ⁣ ⁣ You NEED to put yourself first. ⁣ ⁣ We preach the "fill your cup before you fill others," ⁣ ⁣ But it's hard when we grow up in a world where we're conditioned to take care of others - to make sure others are happy. ⁣ ⁣ Especially m3n. ⁣ ⁣ They're taught from young ages that their "job" is to take care of and provide for wom3n. ⁣ ⁣ In 2016 I moved into my house where my [now] husband and his two roommates lived. The human journey is all about getting rid of our demons, our troubles, and our suffering - Or that's what we get conditioned into thinking, at least. I've learned along the way that isn't true. In fact, it's all part of our journey. And when I rewatched this movie, this quote stuck out. I learned a long time ago that we never get rid of our "demons" - aka our shadows. What I've learned instead is that we simply choose if we want to make them part of our team or not. People always ask how I've become so "immune" to the things happening to me or around me. The truth this: I'm not immune. Things still affect me. Because we don't lose our demons, our shadows. We just learn to live with them, And learning to live with them meant for me doing the inner work so I could become a conduit For emotions, For experiences, For other people. Learning to live above the shadows. . . It's HARD to Live your life dimming your light for so long, Trying to fit into the molds of society, of people around you, of safety and survival. I never even knew it was survival to fit in. But then I thought about it 👇🏼 When I was little, I knew my dad didn't want me. He wanted a boy. Someone to play football with, to coach, to play sports with, fish, hunt, etc. Do "man things." He was so excited when my brother was born. SO excited. I remember being a pre-teen, and I looked at what the boys wore. ✅ Baggy graphic t-shirts ✅ Jean shorts ✅ Nike tennis shoes ✅ Bulky, dark sports watches I'd slick my hair back into a tight ponytail. I paid attention to what he liked to do, to watch, etc. I took up watching football on Saturdays and Sundays. (And if you know me now, developed an obsession for it!) I started going out to the garage to hang out with him while he lifted weights and made new fishing lures out from scratch. I learned to be one of the guys. 🌟 Survival. 🌟 And I did this all my life. But there comes a time when 🔥 THAT MOLD BREAKS 🔥 And you start to realize who you really are vs what you've used to get by. For me? That was realizing that I don't belong to anyone, anywhere. I belong to myself. I don't have to worry anymore about outgrowing people, Because if I'm meant to outgrow them then that's okay. The only person I have to make sure I'm fully comfortable with is me, Because I see me every single day. . . . I read something yesterday about how we start our businesses to do things our way, And then somewhere along the way we start getting put in boxes because everyone starts screaming that you *have* to do certain things certain ways. Because that's what worked for *them.* When I started my graphic design business in 2016 to pay my divorce bills, I just had a Facebook page and a PayPal link.. and worked 3 to 4 days per week. And when I was forced to go full time with it in 2017 after getting fired from my job because our boss hated that I was dating my [now] husband, I started working 5 to 6 days per week, 10 to 14 hour days, Because that's what I thought entrepreneurs were supposed to do. And I made GOOD money. But I was EXHAUSTED. And I carried that same mentality to my coaching business. The launches, the programs, the lives, the content... It never stopped. Until I started living by my human design. And I started to pull back the reins and listen to what my body wanted - and NEEDED. I now am lucky if I work more than 5 hours a day, much less a full week. Because that's what I'm DESIGNED to do, And it's what FEELS good - not only in my business, but in my life. We're not a one size fits all. What works for someone may not work for you, And it's so imperative to be able to teach different learning modalities, Not just what worked for you.
