Thoughts on luna's madonna? 👀 I liked it mostly the the chorus l think. The music video was nice but I wasn't expecting a whole lot since it's her first official music video (not counting the amazing say so Korean ver she did).
It sounded sentimental and nostalgic which I liked a lot. It wasn't a free somebody or a do you love me but I still think it's pretty good!
i love the song! i agree it's not free somebody but considering i didn't think we were ever gonna get a luna song again even if it wasn't as fun as it is i still would have taken it. i wasn't expecting a whole lot either but yea i like that it is very sentimental and although i would have liked to have seen the nostalgia factor pushed farther (i'm a broken record) i was still pleasantly surprised! my biggest complaints are with the styling, but that's mostly because not everything is thematically connected well. most of individual outfits i liked though! i wish they had stuck to the 1920s type of style of that chainmail headpiece from the teasers/opening, because i deserve an erté themed comeback and if they had softened it a little with some more modern/retro styling it would have looked really cool and pumped the nostalgia feel a lot. that black outfit with the fedora is SO good though. and i love that first moment when they pour rain on her dancing at 2:19!
one thing i noticed is that her stylist actually used statement shoes! which is like, absurdly uncommon in kpop, much to my personal dismay. but her two main outfits (the black one and the paracute dress one) have the boot as a core piece of the styling. well, for the black outfit it's a boot/chaps combo but same principle. also there's those cute multicolour snakeskin heeled boots she wears right in the beginning too! it's not huge but it's nice to see shoes treated as integral pieces of the styling as opposed to just accessories that have to be matched.
oh also! i really like the font + logo for the titlecard at the end, it looks really clean and has fun flair and character. i love taemin but the grip that his T A E M I N font and the ngda capitalization letter bingo font have on the industry rn is driving me CRAZY. please. please for the love of all that is holy, use a different font. i'm begging. honestly the most plagiarism in kpop isn't in concepts or styling, it's in the fucking graphic design.
