Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was strange at first being in a relationship with three other people, including myself of course.  I was dating Chris, but I was also dating Kait and Sebastian.  They were married, secretly.  She had told me it had been hard at times to keep things a secret, to hide it from the world.  Seb was afraid of people coming after Kait, he wanted to protect her.  Chris had been the same way, of course there were pictures of him and I together, but he never confirmed or denied that we were together.  I had seen the backlash Kait had gotten once Sebastian posted a photo of them together.  It was a simple photo, they were sitting together watching a sunset, but the hate came flooding in.  He stopped posting her after that, sparing her the hate he had gotten on a daily basis.  The love was overwhelming of course, but he was still scared.
So when news circulated that Chris had gotten married, he was sent into a tailspin of answering more emails than he could handle.  He hadn't worn his wedding ring at all during interviews, or press conferences, just like Seb had done.  I knew why he was doing it, but it still ate at me.  What if he realized I wasn't the person he wanted to spend his life with?  We had been married for a little under a year, and together for almost three altogether, but the doubt was always there.
“So, we're gonna put it all online” Chris was scrolling through twitter, snickering at some of Kait's tweets.
“Are you sure?  It's a big step to take” I looked between Chris and Sebastian, unsure of how I felt.
“He's got a picture and post waiting to be posted, and I have a little video I'm gonna upload, if they don't like it then tough shit” Seb shrugged his shoulders.
We couldn't spend our lives hiding the relationship, especially if Kait or I were to get pregnant, it'd become stupidly obvious something was going on.  So they posted their announcements and shut off their phones, doing the same to ours. Kait was fine with ignoring the world for a few hours, and who was I to complain?  We hadn't planned on leaving the house at all, and this was the perfect excuse.
I must've fallen asleep during one of the movies Chris put on, because when I woke up he was wrapped around me, arms tightening as I shifted.
“Come on, I wanna get some more pizza” My stomach was grumbling loudly, announcing to the room how hungry I was.
“Hurry back, I wanna keep napping against you” Chris was smiling at me with a soft smile, it warmed my heart.
“I'll be quick” I picked up my phone from the table and headed down to the kitchen, turning it on without even thinking.
It was going off every few seconds, there were hundreds of text messages flooding in, notifications causing my phone to crash and restart.  My heart was racing, I was going to go through all the texts first, and then weed my way through the notifications.
Most of the texts were people getting to officially congratulate us, family members saying how happy they were for me.  Those made me happy, especially coming from family. Now time to see what people were saying about me.  I clicked on the post that Chris had made, the picture was less than stellar.  I had been squished between Kait and Seb while watching a movie, I was wearing a pair of his sweatpants and one of his hoodies.  In all honesty I looked homeless, but the caption is what brought tears to my eyes.  “The three loves of my life, though the middle one stole my heart a long time ago”.  He was such a sap.
People weren't too fond of it though, they were calling me every horrible name in the book, ten times over. It didn't matter how many times I scrolled, or how much I tried to find something positive, everyone was screaming at me.
“Babe?  Are you okay?” Chris was standing in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest.
“I'm gonna lay down” I set the phone down on the counter, not even caring if it was locked or not. Chris knew the passcode anyway.
“Krista?” Chris reached out to grab my arm before his arm fell against his side.
Maybe the people were right, that he deserved better than someone who looked like me, someone that was pretty.  I could faintly hear Kait talking to Chris before the bedroom door opened, the sounds from the movie flooding into the room.
“Hey, what's wrong?” Kait climbed into the bed behind me, her arms wrapping around my waist.
“All those comments, telling me I'm not good enough for him” My throat tightened with oncoming tears.
“Don't you dare listen to them, they're just pissed off that Chris found someone he loves, they've been calling me some horrible names on Seb's video, but they don't matter.  You think dorito out there is gonna let some jealous girls tell him how to feel?  Hell no” Kait squeezed my waist, pressing a kiss to my cheek as Seb and Chris stepped into the bedroom.
I held my arms out to let them know that all I wanted was cuddles, it was the only thing that would probably help me feel better.  At least I had these people by my side, those people couldn't say that, and I was pretty happy about that.  Chris climbed beside me, kissing my forehead as Seb laid on top of me, laughing as I playfully slapped his arm.
“I don't know what I would do without you guys” I looked up at Chris, he knew how much I had struggled with coming to terms with everything.  Our relationship was the least of my problems, it was being in the spotlight that scared me.
“You'd be very bored, because we clearly keep your life entertaining” I rolled my eyes and pushed Seb off of me, he chuckled and plopped down beside Kait.
Well my life wouldn't be as eventful if it weren't for them being around that was for sure.  Sure they were going to get questions asked constantly about this.  Chris had hinted before that we were together, but danced around the question after that.  No one knew he was married, except now they knew everything.
“Chris, can I talk to you alone?” I looked over at him nervously, this had been weighing on my mind for a couple weeks. “What's wrong?” His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me flush to his chest.
“This isn't about the posts is it? Cause I already put our phones away until tomorrow at least” Seb had a hand on my back, tracing small circles.
“No, this is something else” Kait narrowed her eyes, she could sense something was wrong.
The room felt tense, almost as if it was beginning to close in on me.  I could barely breathe, sweat broke out over my skin.  Just say it to him!  He's not going to leave you, or freak out.  It's just a few simple words, not like you're telling him you're dying.
“I think I might be pregnant” The words rushed out in a gush, my face heated up as I kept my eyes on his chest.  Had he stopped breathing?  Or were my eyes playing tricks on me.
“I knew it!  She hasn't touched a dorito in weeks, this baby is anti dorito” Kait jumped up from the bed, dancing around at the thought of a baby.
“They're not anti dorito, it's just the sight and smell is enough to make me want to puke” I hadn't been able to keep much food down lately, and Kait was the only one to really notice.
“Have you taken a test yet?” I shook my head and sat up, this was all too much.
Kait didn't wait for me to object before she ran down to the bathroom, screaming that she had found the pregnancy test underneath the sink.  I rolled my eyes and went down, it was now or never.
It was daunting waiting for the minutes to pass by.  The test was still perched on the sink, staring back at me as I stood up.  The word was printed boldly, and there was no denying it anymore.  I grabbed the small plastic stick and headed down to the bedroom.  They were all sitting together talking quietly, Seb had been the first to notice me standing in the doorway.
“You guys are gonna have to deal with me being very emotional for a little while” I smiled and held up the pregnancy test.
“Holy shit!  There's gonna be a baby!” Kait ran over to hug me, her arms wrapping around me as Seb walked over.
Chris was still sitting on the bed, staring at the test in my hand with an expression I couldn't quite figure out.  He had expressed to me countless times that he wanted children, hell we had been trying since we had gotten married over a year ago.
“I'm gonna be a dad” His voice was breathy, it held so much emotion.
“We're gonna be parents baby” Seb and Kait stepped back to let Chris pull me into his arms.
“Holy shit we're gonna be parents!” I couldn't help but laugh and wrap my arms around his neck. “You wanna call mom and tell her the good news?” Chris nodded before unwrapping himself from my arms.
The room was buzzing with commotion, Chris was on the phone with his mom telling her the good news, while Seb texted my mom for me.  I still refused to read any of the comments that people were leaving on anyone's post.  We were married, in a poly relationship and having kids together, everyone else could kiss our ass.
“When did you actually find out?” Kait was ignoring Chris and Seb who were now in a yelling match over who was going to cook dinner.
“Last month, my periods been late for going on three months, so” I laughed as Seb rolled his eyes at Chris's actions, they were fighting a losing battle.
“Have you scheduled a doctors appointment yet?” I shook my head, I was still trying to grasp that I was indeed pregnant.  My periods had skipped before, but now that I was married, this was surreal.
“Let me know when you do, I'll go with since the boys have a con this weekend” Shit, she was right.
They'd be gone for the weekend at least, and by then there would be more articles written about us.  It wasn't going to be a secret.  And if someone had seen me out and about with Chris before we got the chance to announce the pregnancy, well that wasn't going to fly with me.  This was our first child together, and I was going to make sure that the world heard it from Chris and I first.
“Babe, mom's asking when she can come visit” I looked over at the calendar.  They had the con this coming weekend, and after that they were free for a few weeks.
“Next week will be fine, if you're okay with her coming out” I loved his mom more than anything, she was one of the sweetest women I had ever met.
Chris went back to his phone, seemingly forgetting the argument he was having with Sebastian.  This was where I was meant to be.
*** Present Day “Babe, you spacing out on me?” I refocused on Chris who was standing in front of me, Lily was asleep against him.
“Sorry, just thinking about some stuff” I smiled and pressed a hand against his arm, assuring him I was alright.
“I'm gonna lay her down” Chris walked off to the girls bedroom.  Vi was still perched on Sebastian's lap, drooling on his shirt.
Kait was muttering under her breath softly, she was worried about her missed period.  I had been the same way when it came to Lily, and that's when we found out about her. She had found out she was pregnant a few weeks after I had announced my pregnancy.  People were throwing so much hate at us, saying that we didn't deserve our husbands, how ugly we were.  Sebastian didn't take lightly to it, and neither had Chris.  They posted their own messages, stating that they would no longer take the abuse thrown at us.
Most of the fans were just happy that they were happy.  They didn't care who either of them were dating, or married to in this case, as long as everyone was happy.  We were of course, even with two little girls running around the house all the time.  It was becoming impossible to keep the house clean for longer than five minutes.
“He's going to break my rib, I swear to god” My belly felt like it was the size of a house, and I couldn't wait for our son to be born.
“You're due in three days, it'll be fine” Chris plopped down onto the couch beside me, pulling me into his lap.
“You do know we can't have sex for at least a month after he's born right?  Those were the doctors orders after I had Lily” Our attention was caught by Kait as she ran out of the bathroom screaming.
Seb held Vi tight to his chest as he ran over, her face wasn't contorted in horror, she was crying. Sebastian tried to comfort her long enough to figure out why she was crying.  She only shook her head and held up a positive pregnancy test, that's our reason right there.
“I thought we weren't gonna be able to have anymore, not after what happened” Kait's eyes trailed over to Vi, she had suffered two miscarriages after having Violetta, the doctors were sure she'd never be able to have anymore kids.
“You guys get to deal with it now, I'm done after this one” I groaned and rubbed my side, I had been having Braxton-Hicks contractions for a while, except now they were worse.
Chris shifted slightly, nothing more than rolling his hips so his back wasn't pressed against the couch, but it was enough to tear a scream from me.  These weren't Braxton-Hicks contractions anymore, these were actual contractions and I wasn't ready.
Chris set me down onto the couch before he ran down to get the bag for the hospital, and Lily of course. Kait was trying to help keep me calm, though my body was having other ideas.  Sebastian grabbed the keys and helped me out to the car, setting me into the front seat before getting Vi in.  Chris was right behind all of us with Lily and the bag.
“Mommy's gotta go to the hospital sweetheart, you wanna meet your little brother right?” Chris was trying to keep Lily calm while I about had a panic attack in the front seat.
“Yeah!” Lily clapped her hands together excited, she had been talking about this since we found out I was even pregnant.  I wasn't sure who was more excited, her or Chris.
Sebastian got into the drivers seat once everyone was situated, thank god the hospital was close enough where we wouldn't have to wait in traffic for over an hour.  I'd probably of killed Chris if he made me wait a moment longer.
“God it's worse, it's so much worse” I tried to keep my breathing even, if I let it get erratic it was going to be even worse for me.
“I'm trying to drive as fast as I can without getting a ticket” Seb pulled into the parking lot with ease, pulling up to the doors so Chris could help me inside.
The nurses made sure to get me into a room quickly seeing as my water broke the moment I sat down in the wheelchair.  This baby wasn't waiting for anyone, and I was afraid I'd give birth before I could even change into a gown.  Chris stood by my side the whole time, letting me nearly crush his hand as they pushed my legs up.  God I hated this part the most.
He was laying on my chest, bundled in the soft blanket the nurse wrapped him up in, definitely had his dads hair for sure.
“Let them come inside, the girls need to meet their baby brother” I traced my finger along his cheek, smiling as his eyes opened for a few seconds before slipping closed.
“You did amazing babe” Chris kissed my cheek before venturing out to find everyone.
He was long, twenty six inches to be exact, and almost ten pounds.  It was a surprise he had even been able to fit inside of my stomach.  Or how he hadn't broken one of my ribs at least, from how big he was.
“Mommy?” Lily's voice was quiet, she was hiding behind Chris as they stepped inside.
“Come here sweetheart, someone wants to meet you” I pushed myself up gently, keeping James flush to my chest.
She looked up at Chris and Seb before running over to the bed, her eyes widened as they landed on the baby.
“This is James, he's your little brother” I couldn't help the giggle that slipped through my lips as she made grabby hands at Chris.  She wanted a closer look and knew the only way to get onto the bed was with Chris's help.
“Baby” Lily leaned over to look down at James.
“He was just in mommy's belly, but now he's here” I rubbed a hand along his back, listening to his soft breathing.
The room was all but silent as we all watched James sleep, it felt so comfortable being like this.  And even though I loved my children more than life, I was done with two. And with Kait having a second child of her own our house would be plenty full.
“I'll call mom once we're all settled, I'd rather you be home when they meet him” I nodded at Chris, yawning slightly.
Seb pulled Kait down onto the couch with him, shifting Vi so she was still able to sleep.  Chris picked up Lily and sat down on the side of the bed.  And I laid back with James against my chest, this was definitely where I wanted to be in life, I couldn't picture life getting any better than this.

mend
Synopsis: Doyoung helps to mend your broken heart with a little gift. Member: Doyoung/Reader Word Count: 2,321 Notes: basically one of my cats died on sunday and i was really down about it and i didn’t want to talk to anyone about it really so instead i wrote this to get my feelings out. i hope you enjoy ;;
There’s many things in life that are heartbreaking.
Losing a loved one, breaking up with someone you love, seeing your best friend cry, and the list continues on and on.
But you’re pretty sure nothing is as heartbreaking as losing a pet, and even worse, watching it cry out in pain, helpless, just as helpless as you, because you can’t do anything to stop it.
You had found your cat, Riley, outside of your parents’ house when he was just a month or two old, bringing him in after his mother abandoned him. You fed him, named him, coddled him, and loved him just as he deserved. He grew up extremely friendly and playful, loving every pet and pat and ear scratch he got from guests that came over and bouncing around with any toy that was gifted to him. He was cute, cuddly, and slept on your lap at all the wrong times, just as a cat should.
He was your best friend, as cliché as it was, being with you for the last four years that you lived with your parents, moving with you into your very first apartment, moving with you into your second apartment, and being there when Doyoung came into your life.
You had met when you were at the supermarket, Doyoung bumping into you in a rush to get to the snack food aisle because they had a huge sale on his favorite chips. He had knocked you to your feet and ended up helping you up, apologizing before running off.
And then minutes later you had met at the checkout, Doyoung apologizing again. You kept talking while the cashier ran you up, talking as you walked out, and talking even more when Doyoung offered to get treat you for bumping into you earlier.
From there, you only became better friends, eventually leading into a relationship that made you happy, just as happy as finding and taking care of Riley.
Riley and Doyoung didn’t really like each other unfortunately, but they tolerated each other because of you. They were your boys, both offering you love and friendship in different ways. While Riley offered you the companionship of a pet in your apartment, Doyoung gave you the love only a boyfriend could give. While Riley was there for every little thing that happened to you in your teenage years, Doyoung was there for all little things after, all the things Riley couldn’t be there for.
The most notable being Riley’s death.
It was a rainy Sunday, one where you didn’t feel like doing anything other than lay around and cuddle. Riley had provided that for you, nuzzling your face as you woke up at noon and following you around your apartment as you went to feed him and yourself, purring at your feet as you ate together. He followed you to the couch afterwards, jumping up into your lap as you began a movie marathon, one you ended up texting Doyoung about, inviting him over after hosting at Inkigayo, and one you had ultimately fell asleep during.
You woke up a few hours later to no Riley, figuring he must have gone somewhere else since there had been a bunny next to you, playing with your hair and laughing at whatever the T.V had said. You cuddled up to Doyoung like any other day, talking with him during the movie and laughing as he told you about something that happened at Inkigayo.
It was going fine until you started hearing this awful cry come from your bedroom.
At first you thought maybe it was just your imagination due to being lazy and sleepy, but then it continued, louder and louder each time, Doyoung eventually asking you if Riley was okay.
You got up and headed to your bedroom, seeing Riley there on the floor, laying there silently. Whenever you walked into a room Riley was in, he would always come over to you, rubbing his body against your legs to get your attention, but he didn’t do anything then. He laid there, his breathing heavy and his mouth opened as he panted. You moved over to him, kneeling down and petting him as you asked if he was okay. He opened his eyes and looked at you, meowing that awful cry again as his answer before rolling onto his back and then onto his other side.
The cries were continuous after that, Riley meowing and meowing at you in obvious pain, drool coming out of his mouth as it built up when he shut his mouth, his little curled up tail twitching as he laid there, flopping over onto either side over and over. You had tried to alleviate some pain by putting him on some blankets, but it didn't really help.
Searching up his problem didn't really help either, some things coming up that were similar but nothing really completely matching. And, even if it did, it's not like you could do anything.
You felt helpless.
"Can't we take him to a vet?" Doyoung had asked. You shook your head as you pet Riley.
"None of them are open today. And I don't... I don't have the money to take him to the emergency vet," you told him. You used your other hand to wipe at the tears that were falling, sniffling as you looked at Riley. Doyoung was silent as he came over to you, sitting down next to you and putting his hand at your back, rubbing up and down in comfort.
You're pretty sure you both knew what was going to happen to him. Riley was dying, and there was no way to help him.
For two hours you sat there with Riley, petting him, rubbing at his belly, mumbling out comforting words to him even though he didn't understand. You were just trying to make him feel better for the last moments of his life, hoping maybe that he at least understood that you loved him.
You were petting his head when he moved a little to nuzzle your hand, looking at you once, before laying back down and closing his eyes. You watched as he took his last breath, going limp in front of you only moments later.
You ended up crying in Doyoung's arms for the rest of the day after that. You cried on your phone as you called your parents. You cried when Doyoung helped you put Riley in a box so you could bury him at your parents' house. You cried sitting there, thinking about your cat, dying of causes unknown to you and you both completely helpless to prevent it.
You felt like it was your fault because you couldn't do anything to help your poor cat, but Doyoung kept reassuring you that it wasn't, that sometimes things just happened.
You're sure that was true, but it still didn't really make you feel better.
A day later you drove to your parents' alone, Riley in the backseat of your car. Your dad had already dug a hole in their backyard by the time you got there, and he brought Riley back there as you said your final goodbyes to him.
You sat there in front of his hole, crying as your dad put shovels of dirt over him, covering his box up until the hole was filled. Your parents left you alone after, letting you say a few words to him.
You couldn't really get anything out, your words being choked back by the tears and the sobs that came out instead.
All you could really say was that you loved him, and that you would miss him, finishing it off with a goodbye and a pat on the dirt that covered him. You didn't feel like it was enough, but maybe for Riley it was.
He understood you loved him.
You got up after that and walked to the house, looking back one more time at the his little grave and mumbling out another goodbye.
And that was the end of Riley.
-
A month had passed since Riley died, a month full of a lonely apartment and an even lonelier heart. You kind of felt pathetic being sad about such a little thing, since pets came and went all the time, but Riley was your baby. He was your best friend. How could you not be sad about that?
You didn't really talk about it though, not wanting anyone to tell you you were being dumb for being sad over a cat even a month after he had died.
You especially didn't talk about it with Doyoung, because Doyoung had other things he had to stress about, and his sad girlfriend shouldn't have to be one of them.
But, Doyoung was smart and could read you like a book. He knew even if you didn't tell him.
Which is probably why he was even smarter in healing your heart.
You invited Doyoung over on a random Thursday, one where you didn't feel so shitty and weren't busy. He didn't have any schedules and everyone else was busy doing something else, so it was the perfect time to come see you.
You were waiting patiently in your living room, scrolling through Twitter and laughing at stupid things that popped up. It was nice to pass the time as you waited for Doyoung.
But as time passed, you waited longer, and longer, and longer until eventually it had been two hours since Doyoung was supposed to be there. It was weird, considering Doyoung was always early, no matter what. You tried calling him, texting him, and even calling Taeyong to see if maybe he knew what was up. Of course, he didn't answer either, so you just texted Doyoung telling him that if he was still coming, he could let himself in.
It was another hour before you heard a knock on your door, making you get up to go see if it was Doyoung. You opened it up without hesitation, Doyoung on the other side, smiling at you.
"You're late," you said. Doyoung nodded, agreeing with you.
"I was getting you a gift," he said.
"A gift?" He nodded again.
"A gift. But you have to go back to your room. I'll bring it to you." You squinted at him suspiciously, confused as to what he was doing. He only rolled his eyes at you and ushered you back into your apartment. You listened to what he said, walking backwards as he stood in the doorway, still suspicious of him.
"Just go to your room!" He said, laughing and wiggling about in a way only Doyoung did when he was getting impatient. You listened completely now, heading to your bedroom and standing there.
You could hear Doyoung talking to himself in your living room, and you stared at the door, waiting for him to come in.
But he didn't come in first. Instead you noticed movement on the floor, turning your eyes to see what it was. There, crawling on the floor, was a small calico kitten, orange and black spots splattered over it’s the white fur on its body. You kneeled down and called it over, watching as the little kitten bounded over to you happily. You scooped it up into your arms and cooed at it, smiling as it meowed back at you.
"Her name is Nova," you heard Doyoung say as he entered the room. "I know you were really beat up about Riley, and I thought maybe getting another cat now would be good for you. Plus, she doesn't scratch at me and I think that's already a good thing."
You looked at Doyoung and could already feel the tears pooling at the edges of your eyes, wiping at them quickly before they could get any further. Doyoung immediately came over to you, pulling you into his arms.
"What's wrong? Do you not like her? I can- I'm sorry. I can take her back, or I'll make Haechan take care of her-
"No- it's just-" You shook your head, not sure what to say. You hadn't even thought about getting another cat, too sad about Riley to even think about another. Seeing this kitten now though, you knew that's exactly what you needed. You needed a new cat to bring back the happiness you felt when having one around, to bring back the companionship you missed in your life.
Of course you missed Riley – he was your first cat after all – but there was Doyoung and this cute little kitten he had gotten for you. How could you possibly think about letting her go when she was here now?
"You got a cat for me," you ended up saying. Doyoung nodded and smiled.
"I did. It felt like you needed one," you nodded your head and wiped at your eyes again.
"I love her- I love you."
Doyoung smiled and leaned forward, pressing a kiss to your lips once. "I love you too."
You heard the kitten, Nova, mewing then, trying to get your attention. You looked down at her, seeing her nuzzle her face against your chest. It reminded you of Riley, nuzzling you whenever he wanted your attention, only making you tear up more, but this time they weren't tears at the loss of your cat.
They were tears because now you had a cat again, one you could raise and take care of just as you did with Riley. You smile looking at her, thinking about Doyoung and thinking about Riley. He was gone, but it was okay, because he knew you loved him.
And now, you'd move on with Doyoung and Nova, showing her you loved her just as much as you loved Riley.
There was nothing more heartbreaking then losing a pet, but there was also nothing more wonderful then finding a new pet to love and cherish just as you did before.
