GUIDE TO HOW TO LEARN SPANISH (OR ANY LANGUAGE) MOST EFFECTIVELY.
so, I am not a native speaker. I learn for only two weeks, but kinda intensively. my spanish is level A2. what i mean is that i dont force myself to learn 10 words a day + conjugations. It comes alone and naturally, by watching shows, or by what i read...
now, you probably wanna know how to learn spanish effectively, alone, free. well first of all you HAVE to choose the dialect you want to master. yes, spanish is only one language, if you're from spain, you can normally speak to people in mexico and vise versa. but every country has their accents, a little changes in grammar, slangs and even words for some things. for example in spain, car is called coche, but in mexico, its called carro. all spanish speakers have prob 95% of same vocabulary, so don't stress. but its important to choose an dialect and when you master it, then you can learn about accents/slangs and different words of other spanish-speaking country. I personally LOVE spanish from spain, so i choosed that and i'm sticking to it for now.
now let me give you the tips!
1. watch a lot of spanish series. i know this is probably overrated but its HELPFUL. i am learning spanish for only TWO FUCKING WEEKS. and the shows helped me so much... the show i went through when i was the biggest beginner was Vis a Vis. Love this series so much, if you watch it you will fall in love with it. for me, best show in my life, and im not dramatic! JAJA. currently, i watch la casa de papel, good show too, but yeah, yall know its spanish and that every spanish speaker recommends you this show so i will stay quiet! don't watch the shows in english dabing with spanish subtitles, thats not much effective. best is to have the original dabing and to switch between the english and spanish subtitles so you can both know what they say and how to write it & say it!
2. TWITTER. make a twitter account and follow only spanish speaking people. you will be suprised how fastly you will start understand the words. (don't forget to google slang acronyms if you wanna know what the hell they saying, it will help you mxo (mucho 😉).
3. TRY TO MAINLY FOCUS ON CONJUGATION VERBS, WHICH ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING OF SPANISH LEARNING. english speakers say i eat, you eat, he eats... but spanish is different. yo COMO, tu COMES, el COME etc. etc. YOU JUST HAVE TO LEARN IT IF YOU WANNA MAKE A CORRECT SENTENCE. and for this i would very much recommend app called SpanishDict. Best app ever, you can literally learn every conjugation of any verb, its also a translator and the word you type it will translate to many versions and meanings and its really an app EVERY spanish learner should have. and please, don't put away google translator, you will need that too. just don't throw it away, believe me lol.
and the last thing is: ok, it may be a little weird, but try to speak to yourself in spanish. every day. imaginary interview. believe me, its so fucking helpful. and also, type in spanish in your notes. just always speak and type, then check if you dont have any mistakes and learn from them. SPEAK SPEAK SPEAK! how was your day today? what is your favourite food? tell us something about your family!
and use duolingo, because duolingo has a little stories in spanish that you can read and its really fun. AND DOWNLOAD WEBTOON. READ WEBTOON MANGAS IN SPANISH AND TRANSLATE THEM.
those are the things I DO and i dont fucking need no premium language apps, no paying for no language school, NOTHING. if you WANT, you can learn by yourself, without any money. and spanish is easy, you just have to master the conjugations. thats it!
I am still kind of considering buying a spanish grammar book or something, but its really not needed. GOOD LUCK AND STAY MOTIVATED. the more spanish series you watch, the more fictional characters you fall in love with and they motivate you to learn harder! LOL jk. suerte!
