Prompt 54: Not Your Kids Rating: r (for violence & subject matter) Warnings: implied domestic violence/abuse, implied abuse/neglect of kids, physical violence against an abuser that the kids are there for Pairing: Eddie Kingston x Jon Moxley, past Chris Jericho x Mox (don't let this scare you off), children Daniel & Wheeler Word Count: 569 words (overdone by almost 20 words lol) A/N: none of this is graphic, the warnings sound so much worse than the 569 words are. sorry this one got dark.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this. It was just a day out in the park. Wheeler and Danny just wanted to go out for the afternoon; to play with other kids in the sunshine. Mox and Eddie thought maybe it could be normal. Just maybe. Just this once.
“I just wanna see my boys, Jonny.” Chris approached the park bench Mox sat on most likely because he had no idea which kids he should go up to. It wasn’t as if Chris had paid either boy any real attention.
“What the fuck are you doin’ here, Christopher?” Eddie had been over at the swings with Danny and was tightly clutching the five your old to his chest as he briskly walked over to Mox.
“This has fuck all to do with you, Kingston.” Chris shot back.
“No, fuck you, Chris.” Mox started to step between Chris and Eddie, the flinch hidden when Chris moved. “You’re not even fuckin’ supposed to be here.”
“You think some paper is going to keep me away from our family, Jonny?” Chris stepped closer to Mox. Eddie could see the tremble his partner held back. The way Mox’s hand twitched like it wanted to go up to the scarring on his eye where Chris had nearly taken Mox’s sight.
“Papi? Dad?” Wheeler had watched with concern from his place high on the jungle gym before heading over to the confrontation.
“Wheeler,” Eddie had trouble taking his eyes off how close Chris and Mox were to each other. “Wheeler, I want you to go to the truck with Danny--”
Eddie was about to hand the keys over to the nine year old when Chris shoved past Mox to go straight for the kids. The shove was hard enough to send Mox to the ground, landing awkwardly on his bad elbow with a sickening pop.
“You, of all people, won’t stop me from being with my kids!” Chris shouted and reached out to grab Danny like he could just take the child out of Eddie’s arms.
“They’re not your kids, back the fuck off!” Eddie lost it. Danny still clutched to his chest Eddie threw everything he had into a cross punch that cracked both Chris’ nose and Eddie’s hand.
The faded rockstar crumpled to the ground, blood dripping everywhere as he gasped for breath. Wheeler wasn’t paying attention to Chris now that he wasn’t a threat, instead the youngest boy went to his dad and helped him sit up. Mox gathered Wheeler up in his good arm and got to his feet as carefully as his body would let him.
“Eddie, let’s go.” Mox urged at the look on Eddie’s face. “Eddie. Cops will be here any second with what just happened. Let’s just fucking go.”
“Yeah. Yeah. You’re right.” Eddie grabbed their bags, his eyes didn’t leave Chris who was still slumped over and trying to breathe. “Fuck you, Christopher. Don’t ya ever touch my family. Don’t ever fuckin’ touch my fuckin kids or my man again. I ain’t playin’ with you anymore, Christopher, you sorry fuck.”
Since Eddie couldn’t just leave with words as a threat he decided to kick Chris once in the side before stepping over him and going towards their old pickup truck. Mox was a few paces ahead with Wheeler already. One day Eddie swore they’d get away from all this. For Mox. For the kids. For him.
