Second pass at home brewing cider appears to have been a success!! Hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah
I have a brewing bucket and stuff bc I made my own (questionable) cider once a few years ago, but I didn't have immediate access to all that kit when I was struck by the urge to make cider again this year, so I thought I'd experiment with the most basic brewing setup possible. I tipped ~4g of dry baker's yeast into a container of 2 litres of shelf-stable apple juice and left it untouched w the cap half on (didn't have an airlock and didn't want to explode juice all over) for a month and a half.
I was concerned that without a proper airlock my concotion might get contaminated and I'd end up with a carton of gross mouldy liquid, so since we passed the recommended 6-week mark I've kind of just been suspiciously eyeing the juice container. Tonight, though, I couldn't bear the tension any longer, so I poured it into glass containers and! It tastes fine! Sharp, but very much just like dry apple cider!
I'm going to bed now but this is exciting! And already a better result than last time. I'm looking forward to more examination tomorrow :)
