Thoughts on the Percy Jackson casting? Obviously I wanted Afro-Puerto Rican Percy, but if we had to get a white kid I think he’s going to do the role really well.

I'll admit, I hadnt watched anything with him and genuinly didnt know who he was till like, a few hours ago. But he seems like a good actor! I can see him making a good percy and genuinly? I'm more than fine getting to see him grow through his role. Im very hapoy for him and dont doubt he'll do a great job

However, I have a bone to pick with the fandom. I dont usually engage in the pjo fandom ( most my interactions is just talking to my tlh/tda mutuals who also like pjo) because their treatment of leo, my first nd latine rep, disgust me. But today, I decided hey its trending lets all go share the good news.

Its been less than hours and I've decided thats enough interaction for the next year god why are they LIKE this. A lot of poc creators are making genuinly LIGHTHEARTED jokes that we got our expectations too high on poc percy. A lot were genuinly shocked and joked that they let themselves be dilusional and were surprised by the casting choice. There was NO HATE to the actor yet white people still bombarded those comment sections callimg them problematic, accusing them of bullying the actor, and even going as far as saying they were being racist towards white percy💀💀

Im not kidding these are things i GENUINLY saw and im fucking sick. I have no issue with the actor (and hell ill always keep my hcs but im excited to see how they handle percy!!) but the fandom NEEDS to start shutting up on poc expressing their dissapointement on percy being a white lead.

I will have someones head if they insult the actor, but god making a joke that were surprised they went with a white lead after months of hyping the possibility of poc percy IS NOT an attack

#also.... the casting choices ive seen going around for annabeth/ sally/ grover/ rest of the cast have gotten AGRESSIVELY white #went from standard seeing a balance of multi-ethnical annabeth cast to like all white in less than a few hours #so yeah HAPPY FOR PERCY WE GOT #but fuck the fandom #truly #rory!!
