Thinking about Cherry designing a tattoo for Joe using his calligraphy, like Joe really loves watching Cherry write

One day when Cherry is In A Mood he’s like “why don’t you take a picture, it’ll last longer” and Joe’s like y’know what that’s a GREAT idea

He asks Cherry to design a tattoo for him and Cherry is like that is not a service I provide (so Joe’s like good because I’m not paying) but is intrigued by the idea so he starts making little designs between meetings until he gets really into it and starts putting serious effort into them

Eventually he comes back to Joe with a few of his best ones and Joe loves them all because each one has gorgeous brushstrokes and intricate characters and they were made by the person he loves most, so he takes them all home

Cherry is like “he’ll probably just throw them away and forget about them” but a few days later, Cherry comes by the restaurant and Joe pulls back his sleeve to show off the new tattoo on the inside of his forearm that matches Cherry’s calligraphy exactly, the same bold, elaborate strokes, and Cherry just stares

Joe: what do you think? you like it?

Cherry just stares because no one has ever gotten his words tattooed on them before, no one has ever wanted something from him to be so permanent, and before he can answer with words, he brushes the tips of his fingers over the ink

When he does speak, it’s so soft that Joe nearly misses it

“It’s beautiful”

And Joe hears everything else behind the words that Cherry doesn’t say, and what Joe doesn’t say is that he’s wanted this since long before Cherry offered it, that he wants Cherry to stay with him even when he’s not physically there, that this is more than just pretty words on his skin, and that if it fades, he’ll just come back and make it stronger
