installview - Daniel Cook
vimeo
Similar processes to the previous split screen piece; ‘Klipperty Klöpp’, Andrew Kotting, 2017. - In terms of music overlap, and split screen use.
From the visuals the phrase ‘Glass houses’ comes to mind. Includes overlapping of sounds, and visuals that unfold to tell one narrative.
Aesthetic visuals which demonstrate a verity of mid and long shots and movements. The audio escalates and descalates within. No dialogue, just atmospheric & foley sounds, where as the music echoes and twists into new variations of genre and themes.
A fictional and eerie tale of suspense, thriller, drama and mystery. Without the intensions of exposing the narrative through dialogue.
The three screens within the split screen sometimes seems overwhelming, however I think this was intensional in telling the narrative, and expressing the relationships between them.

These installation shots of Taryn Simon’s work at the Tate just go to prove that the presentation of work can add so much value. I unfortunately didn’t get to see this in person, but it looks fantastic.

split screen ideas pt 2
HER 1978-2008 by Candice Breitz
vimeo
Very creative use of multiple channel video; they all complete each other
A very strange young man (Payne’s constraint) by Ariel Avissar
vimeo
I like how this video was edited, how it’s not just a 9 channel video throughout, how some screens appear and disappear
These final two were recommended by my project collaborator, Anne:
White Trash by Jeff Zorilla
vimeo
If the 16mm comes out ‘bad’ (overexposed, etc) the idea is to play around with it the way Zorilla did with this piece
installview by Daniel Cook
vimeo
3 channel film, the action jumps from one video to the other
