I don’t know if Crowley is actually doing any work to get me home?” He voiced clicking off the burn the kettle sat on, his hands pulling out several cups for tea. “Summer is approaching fast and I just.. What if he can’t send me home? What am I suppose when graduation hits? I can’t really leave the school grounds. I have no place to go.”  Yuu brought the cup over to the other. “Am I over thinking it?”

  Touch. Yuuna knows the act of physical affection can be rewarding, comforting -- something warm and bright -- for some. In all other instances, Kalim’s seemingly absentminded gestures would be interpreted by her as annoying. She treasures her personal space and privacy the same way a predator looms over its meal, protecting it from other selfish entities. Truthfully, if it were anybody else, Yuuna may have retracted her hand hastily like a bolt of lightning, but it’s Kalim of all people.

  Kalim -- the only one she’s certain is good, through and through. From her perspective, to truly assess someone, you have to quickly realize what their worst quality is. At his worst, Kalim can be naive and careless but ultimately well meaning, and Yuuna herself can’t quite explain why such behavior doesn’t court her irritation when it really should. She’s a player, ultimately a pretender at being a princess who is cursed with such an innocent and pure mindset. On the inside, Yuuna bets there’s something gnarled and unsettling laying in there.

  However, when Kalim traces her palms without a single care or concern towards her, she abandons the thought immediately. Instead, the palm he’s touching opens up slightly more to show off all of its ridges, its lines, its bumps. She wonders, briefly, if he notices that her hands are much rougher than hers. They’d done a lot of servant work; they’d almost done quite a few deplorable actions before her consciences cautioned her against them. It slips her mind that she doesn’t notice she’s begun to smile a bit, eyes cast curiously down at his movement. 

  Is he expecting to find something in these hands ? 

  “ It tickles. ”

  There’s a lighthearted tone to her voice, sounding more genuine than it usually does. Yuuna almost doesn’t recognize herself when she hears it. These words don’t fall from her lip to tell him to stop, just to fill in the silence between them. 

  “ What are you doing, Kalim ? ”

  It’s not a matter of what. It’s a matter of why. Let me know why you are feeling safe around someone like me.

    It takes approximately five minutes for the girl to register the words spoken by Octavinelle’s vice housewarden, but once she did, eyes widen in surprise. “Pardon my French.. but that the fuck Jade?” Kaede couldn’t believe out of all the people he knew, he expected her.. her out of all people, to give him words of encouragement to stop a metaphorical murder that he would commit.

    “Alright, give me a second-” With a sigh, Kaede grabs a chair. Grabbing hold of the back of it to keep it steady so she can stand on it. Sure, the blonde wasn’t exactly eye level with the leech brother - but hey, it beats practically breaking her neck trying to look him in the eyes. 

    “That’s better~” Giggling, Kaede reach out to gently pat his head with a bright smile plastered on her face. “You are doing awesome Jade and I’m proud of you for not choosing violence.” well, for now at least, but she wasn’t about to add that little part to her sentence.

Yuu let out a breath placing his robe next to Kalim’s. He was so anxious, this was his first ceremony after all. He didn’t think he’d make it the whole year, and hoenstly he had no idea how to dress. It was lucky Kalim had offered to help him with his apperance.  Yuu flopped onto Kalim’s bed letting the other straddle him. Yuu yawned enjoying how much Kalim’s bed was compared to his own. He stifled a laugh he opened an eye to see the face scrunched up in concentration. The knocking and Jamil’s call doing little to break the other’s concentration. Yuu shifted starting to wiggle when the brush came to his eyes. “Ahhh, how do you do this every day?”

She had only just learned that Riddle was finally cleared by the school nurse after the incident at the unbirthday tea party. He experienced, as the headmage Crowley had explained, blotting. Emotions being repressed and the overuse of magic--She understood it as the case of when someone held too many things inside, pushed it down into a bottle until it cracked and shattered. She carefully adjusted her burden and began to climb, having noticed that most of the Heartsybul boys were a little more guarded. She suspected it was for the house’s heads safety.

Climbing up wasn’t too much of a hassle, and she gave his window a tap before lifting it up and slipping inside. ❝ Shh~! Don’t let your guards know I’ve slipped in.--Eh, no fun going in the easy way.❞ In truth, she’d been worried about how he’d be doing since their last skirmish. He still looked a touch pale, but better then before. ❝ You look better, that’s good. Oh! And I’ve got presents! ❞  She unfastened the bag from her back, and eased it over the table near his bed. It was a bundled up Baklava that she’d busied herself to make, she had to sacrifice one to Grim as a bribery for him to behave on his own. ❝ Ah good--this also survived. ❞ She carefully eased a red rose from her jacket, having used her knife to pluck the thorns off with care.

Turning, she smiled and held the flower out towards him. ❝ Here you go. Congratulations on your release from the infirmary. A flower and sweets--I couldn’t carry a bouquet so hope this will do. ❞

            “  so that’s a NO  ,  then  ??  ”  emilia asks  ,  well . . . she did have an inkling what she was asking for seemed impossible  ,  but to hear it from someone like jade  ,  perhaps it was TRUE that it’s irrational and not accomplishable  .  or maybe  ,  he just doesn’t want to do it  ??  emilia falls silent for a moment to ponder her choices . . . did she have anything of more value to offer or should she give up the endeavor  ??               “  tell me . . . is it because what i have to offer is not enough  ??  or what about the request is irrational  ,  so much so that it cannot be fulfilled  ??  ”  she asks  .  truthfully  ,  if she didn’t have to rely on jade  ,  emilia probably wouldn’t have come here  ;  she had been desperate enough to do so . . . but if jade is to decline  ,  then there’s little she can do about it . . . she’ll just have to either find her way around  ,  or give up completely  .

Jin Ling would never be not surprised by honest words like this. It’s not that he doesn’t want to hear them but they are rare and thus always come as a surprise. Of all the uncles and cousins who called themselves his family Jiang Cheng was his favorite - the closest to a father figure or what Jin Ling thought to be a father figure. 

The bond they had was precious to him, his words meant the world to him. Jin Ling couldn’t deny how happy he felt but there was also worry about his uncle. When he would always be his priority then other things would have to wait. That’s something Jin Ling himself did not want for his uncle. He wanted him to be as happy as Jiang Cheng would wish for him. 

“Jiujiu!” The youth called out before he hurried to close the distance between them with a hug. When was the last time he hugged him? He couldn’t recall but it felt right to do so. “You should prioritize something else.” he spoke as he pressed his face against the fabric of Jiang Cheng’s robes. Stupid uncle! He wanted to say this aloud and yet did not dare. After all, he’s the most important person to him when it came to family. And family should not be called stupid. Yet, there is so much Jin Ling wanted to say but did not find the right words to bring his point across. 

“But...” Jin Ling began, not once loosening the arms he had still wrapped around him. He didn’t look up at his uncle, instead he shook his head lightly before he continued quietly. “Jiujiu is the only one left. I need to protect you as much as you protect me. I don’t want to lose Jiujiu.”
