kris ... was not a good cook. that much was made obvious by the scattered ingredients on the kitchen counter, the smoking pan they were using to try and cook pancakes with, and the flour they ended up making a mess with all over the counter as they tried to measure it properly. this was meant to be a nice surprise -- but it had quickly derailed as they were barely managing to cook .. at least, until the pan started smoking -- then they started to worry. 

kris opened one of the windows in the house as the pan they held in their hands smoked -- threatening to light the attempted breakfast they wanted to surprise their mom with ablaze if they were not quick to act. thus, they held the smoking pan outside of the window, hoping beyond hope that the smoke alarm wouldn’t go off and wake their mom up. but -- it looked like despite their best attempts, she entered the room anyways -- taking in the mess they’d made as they looked toward her from where they sat at the window, still holding the smoking pan outside of the window.

He’s definitely not sweating. That’s just anxiety leaving his body. There’s a lot of it--- would it be rude to say something? Would it be rude not to say something? There’s really no in-between, unless he wants to be mistaken for trying to stare her to death. 

Maybe he should pretend to be doing something. Surely, these plants here must- need something- done to them?

Gosh, they really do... these dead leaves have to go. He’s not making a poor excuse to hide in the bushes. He’s really not.
