Here's an unusual one I came accross in the archives from @thetwelfthfret #Toronto: a #Larrivée #RS4 from the late 2000s. . I remember at the time (this photo is from 2014) thinking these were pretty interesting, and I have always had a soft spot for Jean Larrivée because he started building #guitars in the 60s not too far from where this shot was taken! But now that I have evolved into a real "#LesPaul guy" in my old age I kind of wish I had invested in one of these. If memory serves they were less expensive than a comparable LP at the time and chock full of nice woods and beautifully made. Maybe my memory is faulty about the price...but either way, they were never popular got discontinued. Kind of like the Martin F50/F55/F65 from the 1960s! A very nice, high quality electric guitar, but made by a company perceived solely as a maker of acoustic guitars. The #guitar-buying public wasn't having it! Sad, really. . Just looking at the @thetwelfthfret website I can see these were built fairly seriously. They had some pretty cool features including high quality electronics (#Lollar Imperial #pickups, switchcraft toggle & jack, Bumblebee PIO caps, and CTS pots), 1 piece Genuine Mahogany body with extra thick Canadian flamed maple top, Indian rosewood fretboard, extra long mortise & tenon neck joint, mother of pearl & abalone fret markers, Schaller tuners, tone pros bridge & tailpiece...high quality stuff all around. I remember thinking they were "heavy" at the time but apparently they averaged a little over 8 lbs and for a Les Paul style guitar thats actually on the light side. My tolerance for guitar weight has been nudged upwards since I staryed loving Les Pauls! 😆 . #larriveeguitars #larriveers4 #jeanlarrivee #electricguitar #gibsonlespaul #canadianguitars #guitarshopping #guitarphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/CEbjFlEB0Jy/?igshid=tgtgioqzoaj
