Wayne had been smitten with you since the first time Tanis had brought you around. You’d blown him away. He was expecting another Tanis, but you were the polar opposite of her, which also made you the polar opposite of him.

But it didn’t stop the two of you from trying it out, which has led to you coming over all the time. Katy and Daryl liked you, but they couldn’t understand you and Wayne together. So they had bets on long you would stay together. Wayne ignored their jokes about it. He loved everything about you. He loved that you always had coffee made for him before you left to teach your class. He loved every pretty flower sundress you owned. He loved that when he was watching TV at the end of the day, you would be at the table organizing your class plan for the next day.

Today, you were sitting on the porch fitting a pot with some nice flowers. Wayne was close to you sitting in a chair, patiently waiting for you to finish.

“Are you almost finished? We promised Dairy we’d meet him for drinks,” Wayne said, finishing his beer.

“Sorry, love!” you said, standing up. “I can finish in the morning, let me just go wash up.” You kissed him on the cheek as you passed him.

When you came back out ten minutes later, Wayne was on his knees, finishing up the last few flowers. When he was caught, he stood up and clapped most of the dirt off his hands.

“Do they look okay?” he asked.

“They’re perfect,” you smiled, “Thank you.”
