#like 10k on classes that feel like filler? really?

posting all about college on here, but i keep having thoughts..

i just feel like i'm missing something in these classes this semester. maybe it's because i'm so exhausted, or putting off a lot of my work, just putting things off. but it really feels like the learning is so surface level? i do all of the readings, i do notes, i even do a few extra things sometimes out of my own interest, and it's only when i do those extra things that i feel like i'm really learning something valuable and past the surface.

which is great and all, but i didn't really give these people my money to be the one educating myself. i could have done this kind of research when i'm bored on a saturday afternoon without splurging 10k on tuition fees.

it's mostly my american literature class giving me grief. it moves quickly. we read and talk about 1-2 authors a day, then move on after that hour is over. why are we learning about these people? what is their significance in american literature? what did they really achieve? what did their writing mean to people? how did it impact americans? why am i writing a response paper about w.e.b. du bois and booker t. washington if we never will come back to them and only learned about them for one day in a very surface level, digestible, quick manner?

overanalysis is one thing, but at least it paints a bigger picture in an american literature class.

i realize you put your own significance to these things, but what's unclear to me is, is this an english class or a history class? it's so formulaic. it feels like talking about literature to people who don't know anything about literature, or about history to people who just want to get the history down for an exam. it feels like a generalized class for high school students. i see the attempts to make it not so but the class is just organized poorly. not really digging it

i don't know, i just expected more. i feel like there should be more. i feel like there should be focus, instead of a wandering general theme. i guess it's because it's a 200 level course at a small college.

ok. i didnt mind genloss, it was ranboos first massive project, theyre only 19 and a streamer, ok. but oh my god would it kill to take an improv class. the first 2 episodes felt like an snl skit. especially when it was branded as original and then was just some sort of frankenstein of different horror tropes from ranboos favourite horror media, that just reminded me of snl stealing joel havers skit lmao.

there were so much issues with it and i feel like i wouldnt mind as much if it was branded as a horror comedy a few months before the show, not 3 days before the show. a few months before and the weeks leading up to may 24th, it was branded as "you arent ready for this. this is groundbreaking, nothing will ever be the same after this show. this is serious." etc and then i think it was like 3 days before may 24th there was that fucking showfall media psa that just felt like ranboo saying "oh btw its a comedy" without warning it caught me so off gaurd lmao.

then he streamed after that sfm psa released and, if i remember right, people were asking about it being a horror comedy in chat and ranboo was like "well yeah obviously did u think id make a project 100% serious? no lol" (dont quote me on that though its been a while) now theyre saying gen 0 and gen 2 are going to be completely horror now, but i dont think thats true bc they also said gen 1 was mostly horror and none of it is

speaking of, the advertising was just lies lol. the whole "little to no filler :D" thing. it wasnt like ranboo didnt expect the improv to last that long bc the expected runtimes (from their tumblr post on may 23rd i think) were sometimes longer than the actual ones. 1st ep was meant to be 1-2 hours, it was 1 and a half, so that much filler and standing around going "what the hell man" was PLANNED. they just lied about no filler to make people excited. just be funny and i wont mind the filler. i like sneegs humour in his streams but here he was just bickering with ranboo. same with ranboo to charlie, charlie was the only one making actual jokes so when ranboo and sneeg were alone it was just "wait so why didnt you just-" "well idk i thought u woul-" "well why would i-" and when i tell you it drained my soul.

ive been a massive ranboo fan for about a year (im recovering dw), and after the game theory episode i got really hyperfixated on genloss (up until the sfm keynote thing i think). i was hyped for it back when T_1 was the only thing released for genloss, and followed it all the way up to the streams. i watched them live and my face was just like 😐 I WAS SO DISSAPPOINTED LMAOOO

the box being 18k pissed me off so much bc an experienced filmmaker/writer/director could make something so much better than genloss with just that 18k. i aspire to make my own live action thing one day, and like, hearing them go "oh yeah the box was 18k and jermas face prosthetics were 10k teehee🤪🤪" was just. AAAAA. and the thing is, like the prosthetics were funny, but spending TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS as a BIT from jerma going "what if i took off the mask and it just doesnt look like me lol" then framing urself as jesus christ and a victim. i am so mad.

idk how to feel about ranboo anymore, i used to watch like every 2nd stream for a while but then the whole "GUYS BUY MY MERCH also racism bad MERCH!!!!! BUY!!!!" thing made me rethink lol. the racist and misogynistic undertones in genloss made me so uncomfy, and while im not poc so i cant speak on that, i have enough sense to know that having the only poc in the entire show play evil rats is so tone deaf.

and niki!! i was worried when the teasers were coming out bc every single person shown in it was a white guy (and a white enby), so i was kind of happier when niki showed up, but then she died within the hour to "commentate on misogyny in media". ranboo thought that he was commentating on misogyny by contributing to it. did they think this through at all. i would have LOVED if they did something special with niki and something powerful, but all that happened was she showed up, cried, then died and now ranboo fans are going "ranboo was so real for this!!!". ik niki had control over her characters writing but im sure ranboo was the one who decided when certain characters died and stuff.

also i hate to say this but the mask flashing to signify if he was in control or not was EXACTLY like a thing in the undertale fanfic (sfw im not weird) i wrote when i was 12 💀💀the characters eyes would flash when they were under control bc edgy. it was so weird watching genloss with that in the back of my mind 💀💀💀💀

in conlusion, genloss had so many flaws and so much easy fixes that it just feels so sososososososo rushed. another year in the oven wouldve been ok i think.

🖤 weekly update 🖤

Ahhh it’s hard to believe another week has passed by! I had my last day of work yesterday a with the little ones! We all went to the park to kick off the summer and it was so beautiful outside! We got pictures with the kids and celebrated one last birthday, it was a lot of fun! Both classes got us a TON of flowers haha, which is my favorite type of gift! So my room smells amazing and I have little room left for any other floral decor for now haha.

Now that my job is officially over Im going to take this week off and relax a little, on a limited budget of course and I will be filling out applications as well meanwhile in hopes of this week not being extended anymore then necessary. That being said I made a little progress on Wicked this week! It’s standing at about 7k all total. This new scene needs a LOT of editing and rewriting though so the word count is a little tentative though. I doubt the chapter reached 10k though if I’m perfectly honest with you guys! The scene I’m at just needs to be written and I should be done, leaving it around 8k at most, however I’m thinking about adding a scene that isn’t really necessary but o think might be worth doing just for the sake of more perspective.

Despite this being a filler chapter in the grander scheme of things, I think it’s going to be very essential towards MC and Jungkook’s relationship, it’s really kind of a turning point for them and it’s nice to watch develop as it is! I’ve been so worried about rushing their relationship but I honestly think it’s coming along quite nicely!

I’ve done a little editing on my book but honestly, ughhh I’ve been kind of avoiding getting someone to give me feedback on it, partly to do with my budget, as I’m wanting to hire someone to do it at some point for a more professional perspective- I have someone bookmarked off a website for, while kind of expensive, cheaper in the long run. But also I was thinking, I might consider posting it over Wattpad and send anyone over who’s interested in reading it.

Do I like Wattpad? Not particularly but I think the janky comment system would actually be pretty beneficial for anyone who wants to input critiques or comments/suggestions. It feels like I could utilize it as a tool to help out the process of editing and getting outside opinions. If anyones interested in helping out with that, please let me know! Anyways I’m hoping to get chapter 12 of wicked done this week with all the extra time on my hands hopefully!

Annalise woke with a start. She was wide awake immediately. There was no room for sleepily rolling around the sheets, her eyes weren't heavy like always. She didn't know what dying and coming back to life felt like, but she was pretty sure it felt something like that. She had a weird urge to go for a jog.

Staring at the ceiling, Annalise reached towards the nightstand next to her, intending to grab her phone. Her hand touched the bottle, and she picked it up anyway, reading the prescription label.

"You don't waste anytime, huh?" she murmured before setting it back down. Then, she grabbed her phone and checked the time.

8:47am. A new fucking record. Annalise rolled out of bed, unable to stay still.

In the 2 hours she had to kill before work, she tidied up the dorm, ate a decent breakfast, took a shower, and got started on the course work she had to make up. The energy levels were through the roof, she had never been so on edge and productive at the same time. Why wasn't she put on sertraline sooner? Sure, she felt hyperaware and borderline anxious, but that was apart of the process of getting on a new antidepressant. She was getting things done this way. Sure, she jumped when the lock on the door jiggled, but she was up and running anyway!

If she wasn't, she wouldn't have seen Stella entering the dorm. She was surprised to see Annalise on the couch, looking like a deer in headlights.

"Oh… I thought you were asleep. I'll, uh, I'll come back."

"No, wait!" Annalise sounded a little too frantic, but it did stop Stella from leaving. "Uh, come sit down! Please!"

Stella narrowed her eyes slightly as she went to the couch. At least she was willing to listen.

"I, uh, I'm sorry," Annalise began, rubbing the back of her neck. "I'm sorry for what I said. A stupid guy isn't the only good in my life. I have you. You matter to me, and I'm sorry for making you feel like you don't." She really couldn't stop herself from rambling. "I miss you. I miss seeing you here between classes, and I miss your optimism because a bitch could use some of that. And, and I'm sorry for the negativity I've brought in here. I'm working on it now, I swear. Just… come back. Come home… because bro, you're my wife, dude."

It could have been funny, but there was nothing funny about the way she said it. Her eyes were wide and pleading, and she was rubbing her hands together. Stella merely blinked her hazel eyes, nearly overwhelmed by that string of words.

"Look at you, expressing your emotions," she said after a while. "I can see why you hold it back."

Annalise nodded rapidly. "It's my first day on a new medication. Got me all sorts of hyped up, but I'll mellow out in a couple of weeks. And I'm taking therapy seriously again!"

Stella was surprised. "Oh, I see. Well… I've missed you too. Bro…"

"Bro?"

"I'll come home too. Camila's bed is too small for the two of us."

"Bro…"

"I know. I have to update you on all that."

"Br-"

"Okay!" Stella broke out a smile and stood up. "Dame un abrazo, puta."

That was much easier than Annalise had anticipated. She stood up and hugged her best friend, relieved. Stella wasn't one to hold a grudge, nor was she as stubborn as her roommate. It was another person to cross off the list.

Shawn had social media mainly to get his music out there. Yes, he interacted with his friends on Snapchat, and some fans on Twitter. Most of the time, Shawn just tweeted when he had new music coming out. He didn't check any of his social media very often, not even to stalk Ann's accounts because she was rarely on her's. He didn't even have his notifications on, purely to keep himself from the possibility of getting too attached to the opinions of random strangers online.

That was why he woke up that morning to a number of texts from Camila.

"SHAWN IM LKTERSLLY BALD RN"

"CHEKC UR TWITTER RIGHT NOW!!!!!!"

So to Twitter he went. Shawn rubbed sleep out of his eye as he went to his profile. He had around 10k to begin with, that he built up on his own over the last couple of years. He nearly dropped his phone on his face as he read the new number.

"What… the fuck?" he breathed out as he sat up in his bed. He scrolled through the list, making sure this wasn't a series of spam bots.

His mentions were just as wild, and it explained the sudden blow up.

And there were plenty more like that. There were so many tweets, Shawn couldn't even get through all of them. It was making his head spin. There was only one Bella he knew about too… He just couldn't spell her last name. Thankfully, her handle was just @bellasanti, and it was the first one to pop up when he typed it in the search bar.

Right under Bella Santiago's name and the blue checkmark were the two little words: Follows you. Shawn refreshed the page ten times before it sank in. This YouTuber, who has over 2 million followers, somehow found Shawn's music… and she liked it. She liked it enough to tweet about it… 3 days ago.

Shawn had only overheard Bella's videos when Ann was watching them in the other room. He never really watched any of her content. But he wanted to pass out at the fact that she took the time to listen to his music and tweet about him. He wanted to jump on the bed. He wanted to call-

He texted Camila back. "Wtf why did no one tell me sooner?? This is so crazy!!!!!"

"We thought you knew and you were keeping it from us!! LMAO congrats rockstar!"

He couldn't believe it. His follower count was rising. He was getting emails from Spotify saying his songs were being added to many different playlists.

He deleted the last bit before tweeting it. Holy shit. Shawn lied back down on the mattress, completely breathless.

How does someone like Bella Santiago find Shawn out in cyberspace? What Spotify rabbit hole did she go down that led her to him? How many of his songs did she listen to? How many songs did she save to her library? How many of those playlist emails were from her? Shawn had so many questions.

There were two things Annalise noticed when she was out on the courtyard after Biology. The first thing was a table on the side of the walkway, with a handmade banner hanging off the front. It read in big letters: Shawn Mendes: Live at The Cameron House. Brian, Alessia. and Camila were all sat on the same side at this table, talking to a student who was interested in the little display.

"The lounge called back," Annalise muttered to herself.

The other thing Annalise noticed was Patrick sitting under a tree nearby, reading a book. She went to him first.

The last time she had spoken to Patrick was when they cut up flowers together. He was never one to explicitly state when something has upset him, and he has seen Annalise in a depressive episode before. Annalise knew him well. Patrick kept his distance because he didn't like the negativity around her, and he couldn't afford any more of it himself.

"Hey," she greeted.

His blue eyes tore away from his book to meet her gaze. "'Sup?"

"Trying to be less fucked in the head," she told him.

Patrick nodded in approval. "Cool."

That was all that was needed for the two of them. Content, Annalise turned and went for the table. A small line had formed when she wasn't looking, so she waited behind the last person. However, with three people running the thing, Annalise got to the front fairly quick.

"Oh, she actually showed up," Brian chimed, amused.

"Meaning?" Annalise asked.

"Thought you were too pissed at Shawn to care about his show, that's all."

She swallowed the pit of annoyance, discovering that even more people knew about that. Brian is his friend, though, of course he'd know.

"Selling tickets or something?" Annalise turned her attention to the two girls.

"Yeah! Ten dollars a piece!" Alessia explained.

"Cool, I'll take one."

Just as she opened the flap on her book bag, Camila spoke up.

"Wait. I'm pretty sure Shawn said he wanted to buy you your ticket himself."

Annalise rolled her eyes. "Well, he's not here and I can do things for myself." She pulled out her wallet and paid her own goddamn ticket.

Camila breathed out a laugh. "Are you ever gonna let him do anything nice for you?"

None of your fucking business.

A new thought occurred to Annalise. "Why are tickets being sold for this show? Aren't his gigs usually free?"

"There's more production going into this one," Brian told her. "The lounge gave him the option to make it a ticketed event, and we need to make back what we already put into it. So now, it won't be a performance, it'll be Shawn's performance."

Shawn already knew how to make an audience his bitch, but…

"Alright then." Annalise shrugged and then accepted her ticket and receipt from Alessia.

The ticket alone was already quite extravagant. There were little red roses designed around the edges. This boy really loved his fucking flowers.

"I'm guessing rose petals will fall from the ceiling or something?" she guessed with a chuckle.

"I was given strict orders to not spoil anything," Brian told her, folding his arms.

The two had a mini staredown until Annalise shrugged again. "Whatever."

Then, Camila piped up again, suddenly excited. "Ooh, Ann did you hear? Bella Santiago followed Shawn on Twitter!"

"She what?" Annalise stupidly replied.

Camila practically squealed. "She gave him a shoutout too! He's blowing up on Spotify! Isn't that awesome?"

Annalise wanted to say something, but her brain wasn't quite caught up yet. So she just walked away.

The other three students watched her leave. Needless to say, they were confused.

"Is she ever gonna be happy for him?" Alessia wondered.

"I think she was excited?" Camila said tilting her head.

"I can't believe Shawn is going through all this trouble for that," Brian said with a scoff.

"I can still hear you!" Annalise called over her shoulder as she kept walking.

All three of them went red in the face, embarrassed. Brian would have made a comment about her being a vampire with supersonic hearing, but he didn't want to be called out again.

I spent roughly six hours in KSP to produce this post and the next, and get this, I completed 0 launches. I did about 30-40 test launches around something I thought would be quick and easy, but alas.

I have come to you with great news.

Have you heard the good work of the S1 SRB-KD25K Kickback Solid Fuel Booster? Well faceless internet glob, this nigh-biblical friend wants to help you to succeed at everything in KSP for absolute peanuts.

I built "the official" VAX I-LV today, what was to be my next weight class up in booster. This took a bit of time and a few tests, but I came to a design I was comfortable with.

The stats roughed out at a payload of 18.77t to orbit with 350Δv to spare for 38.7k at 26 parts about $2061/t.

Great, done and dusted!

The original “Vax I-01-LV”

Let’s take a minute to really think about this though...

But wait... My original thinking was that I would do a post outlining the differences between good design and bad design, solving problems with hammers when you should be using a scalpel. I thought as part of that I'd take my "more advanced tech" and go back to my mainstays, the Bissel II and Electrolux II and see if I could eke out a bit more oomph from them without much modification.

I struggled, friends, boy did I. The Bissel II, if you recall, cost only 11k to put 2.7t into orbit, I moved parts and modified components and tried different staging types, the best I could do was get it down to approximately $10.5k. Then an old thought came floating back out of desperation, you know what was utterly terrible once? Using a single SRB as your first stage.

The Bissel III-LV. All hail the S1-SRB-KD25K.

The last time I played 100 hours of KSP in a go the aerodynamics system was different in the game than it is today and as a result relying on an uncontrolled explosion in a tube, with it's very rapidly increasing TWR, resulted in rockets splitting in half without some hilarious exercises in strut-ing. I wondered if things would be different.

The first few launches flipped and then I thought to stick some control surfaces on, now more interested if this would work at all and forgetting entirely about cost. I found a lot of instability when using AV-R8 winglets extensively, so I switched to the design above with Delta-Deluxe Winglets at the botton and AV-R8's there to provide significantly greater control when the second stage separates.

During the original launches, skipping the AV-R8s would result in the second stage immediately whirling out of control as the launch vechicle's thrust went from some unholy number like 6.5 TWR down to 1.4 TWR. Eventually it worked and I'd finished screwing around, for fun I removed my test payload and checked the price...

Bombs are dropped.

$8,780.

The Bissel II was $10,980 and my prototype's test payload was 10% heavier.

Totally controllable, completely safe, not immersion shattering, and it was 25% cheaper and lifted 10% more. The Bissel III-LV was born.

I then went and did what every reasonable engineering the real world does with something like this, I strapped a pair together to see what they could do.

The Electrolux III. Note the unconventional control surface layout at the base of the craft.

Wow. With the immediately christened Electrolux III-LV I was moving a tiny amount more weight (4%~) for 30% less cash.

Admittedly the control surface arrangement is a bit odd, but that's the fun of KSP!

Never even had a chance to get off the ground

I then sprinted over to my newly christened Vax I-01-LV, loaded an even heavier payload onto, and tore out the first stage.

The original VAX I-01-LV moved 18.77t to orbit with 350Δv to spare for 38.7k

With the primary stage refit entirely under the new S1-SRB-KD25K-R-AMAZING regime, we could now move 6% more mass into orbit for 15% less cost squeezing in at 90Δv to spare.

The Vax II-LV. Like the Electrolux III before it, an unusual control surface design is notable.

I have a scrap of paper I was taking notes on, in the upper right is the word "wow" scrawled about 10 times.

Final summary

The new lineup compared to old:

Bissel III: +0.13t, -50Δv, -$2020 Electrolux III: +0.305t, +100Δv, -$6361 Vax II: +1.13t, -260Δv, -$5900

Lastly, the techs needed for the basic version of this are:

Needed for the Tri-couple, and leads directly to the Bi-couple designs as well.

This will get you everything you need to do something similar to my new lineup using the TVR 1180C Tri-couple (why is this behind the Bi-couple?), BACC SFB, and the same control surfaces (Delta-Deluxe and AV-R8). This unused model was dirt cheap and I found it could move 2.5t to orbit for 10k.

For 250 more science, you can unlock Heavy Rocketry and Specialised Construction, allowing you to create the base launchers I have demonstrated here.

Ultimate truth time

I feel though that I have capped out on using the S1-SRB-KD25K SFB, in testing the Vax II there isn't really much I can do to get more oomph out of the first stage other than strap on more boosters, which starts to get a little too zany for my tastes.

The next possible configuration up would be a 6x S1-SRB-KD25K, and then and 8x S1-SRB-KD25K above that but both of those would be obscene to produce.

I guess it'll depend on how much it saves me.

What did I learn?

S1-SRB-KD25Ks are amazing: use them immediately.

Aerodynamics in KSP are sufficiently different from when I last played that old impossible things are possible now.

An SFB with control surfaces is often cheaper, more powerful, and just as stable as it's LFO equivalent in Δv.

I can still accomplish nothing in KSP and still have fun.
