I know I keep saying this but I really like the way obi-wan is characterised in M&A. Usually I find authors write him as overly passive and meek, or a kindly old emotionally-distant mentor, but this feels a lot more authentic. He’s very observant, eager to impress people he respects, he LOVES the sound of his own voice and is very sure of what he’s saying, and while he’s kind and polite he does have a petty mean streak in him

#m&alb #liveblog tag #and like all of these things are a bit more rough and sharper around the edges #because he’s only seventeen #but you can easily see the trajectory of the person he’s becoming #and you can even track stuff like. beliefs he no longer holds as an adult but would make sense for him to hold as a teenager #like being overly fussy about rules and working from this like. legal moral framework #like ‘the law is just because it is the law’ #like for the type of person he is that makes sense for him to believe that as a teenager #and then like with experience and maturity obviously he grows into a far more shrewd and nuanced understanding of politics and power and law #anyway I think this is a pretty good character study of obi-wan #I hate how much the fandom makes him into this like defenceless sad cinnamon roll #when he’s like an incredibly cunning and practical person who gets hung up on the finer details sometimes #I feel like if you gave him a cup of tea and a lace pillow to sit on he could probably deal with basically anything #like obi-wan’s always been sort of picky about very fine small details and pleasures #but if he has those settled he’s usually content to deal with whatever is happening #anyway lmao did not mean to ramble so much #but this is good content. he is angsty without being pitiable
