-- THE PRODIGAL SON RETURNS.
#4038′s wildcard performance. dally - hyolyn ft. gray ( gosh choreography ) -- choreography by jeon jeongguk.
there’s so much that goes on when he watches the episode on sunday. first, it’s yoongi. yoongi, yoongi, yoongi. jeongguk can’t take his eyes off of him anytime he’s on screen, and that only makes him confused because he already knows why yoongi had been eliminated, for not having the presence on stage. how could anyone look at anyone other than yoongi? jeongguk might be biased ( and very heavily so ), but fuck, he thinks yoongi’s the most radiating thing on that stage.
then there’s a second chance. jeongguk’s saving grace. there’s no question on whether or not he’s going to do it. it’s another chance to be able to do what he loves to do, and he wouldn’t let anything stop him from pursuing this opportunity.
both jeongguk and yoongi were full of determination, with so much to prove for themselves. but jeongguk lacked that anger yoongi had. jeongguk was more composed, unwavering in his resolve to prove how good he is. they’d talked nearly the entire week, although over the phone, discussing their progress.
when they show up together, jeongguk notices how he looks, how tired he seems, and jeongguk frowns, but doesn’t comment on it. he doesn’t want anything he says to affect what happens to yoongi. so, he keeps his mouth shut, resting his hand on the back of yoongi’s neck to give him a supportive squeeze before he lets him go to perform.
and before he knows it, it’s his turn. he steps up to the stage with renewed confidence, standing tall. he reminds himself why he’s here, thinking of yoongi, yongguk, chungha, everyone else… and then he speaks.
“i’m jeon jeongguk, #4038. i’m here to show a choreography i made myself, and… i was eliminated on account of my injury, and was told that it was possibly holding me back…” jeongguk grins, raising a hand to his chest before he continues, voice loud, to make sure he was heard, “if my injury was holding me back before, it’s not going to anymore.”
when the music starts, he slips into his stage persona, grinning playfully, eyes shining as his body moves, getting a feel for the beat. then, he’s walking forward in exaggerated steps, as if on a runway, dragging his hands across his chest and then over his head. jeongguk bends over, legs straight and torso beneath his hips in a show of his flexibility before arching his back. he drags a hand up his leg before standing back up straight, raising his hands to place them behind his head as he twirls around on one foot.
the moves are his style, big, snapping movements that show off a sexy appeal; his rolls his hips, arms above his head as his chest undulates in a body wave. he bites his lip to top it all off, eyes towards the camera.
slowly, jeongguk sinks into a controlled squat, hands opening his thighs before he pivots to rest on his hip, one leg stretched straight out across the stage floor as the other lifts up in a 90 degree angle to the other one. as he brings it back down, he flips onto his hands and feet, body raised in the air. he sinks his chest towards the floor, hips following as he thrusts them downwards. raising back up again, he shakes his ass, all the while looking towards the camera.
there’s a dull ache in his ribs from all the movement in his torso, but he’s able to ignore it, keeping that seductive allure on his face.
he rolls over onto his back, one leg raising into the air, then the other, opening in a wide circle before coming back down to the floor. his feet push at the floor, sliding him back a few feet before he’s bringing his entire lower body up, and over his torso in a backwards somersault, head turned to the side so he doesn’t strain his neck. it’s a move he’d taken pride in doing on stage, especially without the use of his hands to guide him.
once back on his front, he lifts himself into a kneel, most of his back facing the panelists. he lifts his shirt high, exposing his abs and chest and those purple bruises adorning his ribs. it’s a power move, as if he were proving that he could be just as good as anyone else despite being injured. jeongguk wants to prove they were wrong for eliminating him, that he can handle himself, and can handle being here. being injured does not make him any less worthy of being on this stage, especially with as much skill as he has to show.
jeongguk’s not one to be boastful, or incredibly prideful, but realistically, he’s a strong dancer, and even the panelists had trusted he could be amazing. so, he’s here to prove that.
he rolls his hips, sharp snaps to the lyrics followed by a slow, circling of his hips, before he’s slipping into the rest of his choreography. jeongguk lifts himself onto his legs with ease, his body thanking him for finally getting off the floor. his moves are slow, precise with sharp snaps of his hips at the end of certain movements.
at one point, he kicks one leg straight up, hand supporting the movement by grasping the back of his thigh, and then letting it go to stand back on it. jeongguk pivots on that leg, twirling around once more to dip back towards the floor, this time with his back facing the front of the stage. his knees are bent, calves on either side of his thighs as he leans completely backwards, head and shoulders touching the floor before he lifts back up in a display of strength.
again, he lifts his shirt above his ass, shaking it for the panelists and looking over his shoulder with heavy, dark eyes, and an open mouthed smile. then, he’s standing again and turning around just as the song ends, head tilted slightly as he pants.
he’s sweating through his thin shirt, the fabric clinging to his skin as he leaves the stage for water.

I CAN MAKE YOUR HANDS CLAP !!                         feat. ( @longguork , @jinsoulrk, @changminxrk , @rkxsua , @rkjaewon )                           team BOOM BOOM! performing handclap by fitz&the tantrums.                                                                   choreo notes.
being back on a team is weird-- after a week of not being in a company practice room. for a moment, yoongi’s at a loss of what to do; how to talk to people again, how to start doing anything. but it grows to be easy-- he has nice kids on his team. talented people, and fellow wild cards like himself. yoongi doesn’t feel like the odd-one out for once-- and they’re doing a dance focused performance. he couldn’t ask for anything more.
( maybe for jeongguk to be here, too. but yoongi deems that to be more of his own selfish desire than anything else. )
there’s not a soul on this team he really recognizes, but he finds that after working with team after team it begins to become easier speaking up and reaching out. and it’s easier to become more relaxed in front of the cameras that are always there, always watching.
they focus on figuring out the choreography first. jinsoul gives out a bunch of creative and helpful ideas with longguo; ideas and formations that begin to sketch out the dance -- and changmin tests them out. sua and yoongi focus on refining the ideas into smooth flowing choreography, and jaewon is there to observe with a critical eye and figure out parts they need to clean up on. it’s a team effort, and each contribute in their own way. they’re like a well-oiled machine, and yoongi thinks he’s been blessed with the best people to do a dance focused performance together.
maybe it’s because yoongi enjoys dancing more than anything else-- but he finds himself gravitating to the rest of his teammates. he helps point out things for the struggling ones-- gives encouragements to everyone else with quirked lips. he tries to be more easy-going and approachable this time around-- tries to look at everything from a more positive perspective.
sua’s birthday is tossed into the equation as they reach recording day. it’s whispered upon them that they’ll do a surprise of sorts; it leads up to a tense moment of changmin leaving abruptly, and jaewon following after. yoongi’s on edge until the two of them return-- and he, jinsoul and longguo all break out into singing birthday wishes towards sua. it’s something fun, light-hearted in the midst of training, and yoongi’s happy he was able to be apart of it.
the day comes up faster than he’d expect, and soon enough-- they’re on stage once more. placed into formations-- they introduce themselves as team boom boom! and start off the show.
jaewon starts it off, the turn it up, pushing them all into motion. it’s movement made quick, smiles on their faces that match the beat. yoongi, sua and changmin slide forward with changmin in center. it’s quick hands, swaying bodies and synchronization.
cause you don’t even know.
at the second i can make your hands clap part he’s staring at bora as they clap their hands together quickly, before moving back into the focus choreography. then it moves into yoongi, longguo, bora and jaewon as they whip their bodies around to the beat. changmin moves up shortly after to do an impressive flip and jinsoul focuses her solo on waacking.
yoongi comes forward for the next you don’t even know part, and they move into it. they step to the side to leave jaewon singled-out, and he performs his centric enthusiastic clapping afterwards. the rest of them excluding jinsoul and longguo move center-- and at the final bout of clapping they all turn their heads to the two to witness their drop.
everynight when the starts come out,
yoongi slides forward-- front and center, and when everyone drops, he does too-- but instead, he does a split instead, pulling up his body slowly and languidly back into a standing position, a crooked grin on his face as he steps to the side. after him is jinsoul’s focus-- then sua and then jaewon. after, while everyone moves to the side yoongi’s solo move comes up-- and his body moves to the beat.
so can i get a hand clap?
from their longguo does a cute, aegyo centric move as the song moves to end. and all of them create a half circle around changmin, who ends the song with his b-boying solo before they all pose.
chest heaving, smile wide-- eyes trailing across the crowd. jeongguk stares back at him and yoongi feels the slightest bit better, the slightest bit more relieved.

                              MGA Season 4 ;; Episode 4
Contestant #4026 Choi Youngjae Performing My Flower by JBJ { Line distribution } Team D - The Flower Rangers { @longguork @rkjeon @rksxna @haknyeonrk } Outfit
It had reached a point by now where Youngjae had stopped caring about trying to complain and simply just started to accept his fate as it was, no matter how troublesome. He was getting publicity and recognition albeit not in the way he had imagined, and he was darned sure that if anyone was going to come for his head they would have done so by now. The likelihood of anyone from back home watching some random Korean auditioning programme anyway was very slim, but his paranoia was still lurking in the back of his mind, causing many scenarios of ‘what if’. Not only that, if Mnet knew of his actual past, they would be more than likely to toss him straight out. Even if he was clean nowadays and had no spots on his attest it was a tough background to run away from and greatly frowned upon.
Who wanted to live an entire life in the shadows watching every step you took though? When he had first come here the artist thought it was such a life he desired, but as he was progressively getting better through the therapy and medication he also came to realise that such an existence would be terribly dull. No one was created to be alone, not even Youngjae. Even he wanted to live within people’s memories.
Even more importantly, he could actually look at this with a feeling of fondness. It sucked, it was tiresome and bothersome and whatnot, but at the end of it, it was also kind of fun. An emotion he hadn’t felt for a long time. When it came to the long hours in the practice room with Jeongguk and Haknyeon trying their best to bring a change to the hopelessness that was Choi Youngjae’s dancing skills, of chatting to Yongguk and discussing the vocals, and of realising that Sana was from Japan as well and spending the time talking to her in his mother tongue, none of them truly felt bothersome. He might insist otherwise but he did have trouble being true to himself on more occasions than just this.
The early morning after Friday’s filming started in the practice room where two familiar faces and two he had only seen as fellow contestants met him. Despite already being familiar with half of the people present, introductions were still in order, a ritual that felt kind of silly with the circumstances. They might be working together as a group and thus should be creating a sense of unity, but in the end, each and every one of these people was a rival. It was just foolish to knit tight bonds here of all places.
Much like last time, the topic immediately fell on the matter at hand: picking a song and leader. Yet again Youngjae made it clear that he didn’t have the skills to carry the team in such a way, although he refrained from stating the true reason that it was too much of a pain in the ass to deal with on top of everything else. Again it was a matter of two people for leader, and although he felt a bit for Sana due to her heritage, perhaps he was simply too biased towards Jeongguk from the past round. It was with little hesitation that he voted him leader. Unlike last time picking the song went fairly easy much to his relief as Youngjae wasn’t sure he would be able to stay neutral to yet another hour upon hour of trying to find ‘the perfect song’. To him it was pointless anyway. It wasn’t about finding a song that fit, it was about making the song fit.
Training hours were long and tough, for Youngjae knew that he had to train harder than anyone else on his team if he wanted to make it. Until now he hadn’t thought he wanted such a thing, but now it was different. If there was one thing he could be happy about it was that he exercised regularly to keep up with his martial arts and hence had a decent stamina everything considered, for if he didn’t he might have died already. Still on multiple occasions he had felt his legs shake so much under him that he could barely stand. It was awful. He couldn’t deny the fact that he had wanted to punch either Haknyeon or Jeongguk in the face multiple times for being stressed to continue when he simply wanted to lie down in a pit and let his soul leave his body. Dancing was so much different from karate.
Thinking about giving up was very tempting, but a certain encounter last week stopped any such thoughts immediately. Hadn’t he been the one who called Daniel out for whining about everything being too hard and him not having the skills to do it? He would just be a fucking hypocrite if he didn’t try his own darnest after giving that speech. Or he could also just kill Daniel in the dead of the night and hide his body where no one would ever find him. Then no evidence would be left behind of his hypocrisy. That was also a tempting thought. He was, of course, kidding. At least mostly.
And even then Dancing was only part of it. He couldn’t slack on his vocal training either. Whenever he wasn’t practicing dancing it wasn’t strange to hear Youngjae do various exercises for his vocal chords to keep them warm and active as well as preparing himself for the adlibs and lines he had to do this time. Some of the pitches were pretty high, and he had to make sure that he could pull them off while dancing. Even sometimes while dancing his voice was still audible, often in between sharp breaths. If their practise time was a song of its own, Youngjae’s vocal training might very well have been the adlibs.
Friday had arrived and with it the nerves. That was another first. Actually feeling nervous about the result after today’s show. He was worried he was going to screw up badly with the choreography being way more intense than last week. Take a misstep, sing a false note, or who knew, knowing his skills he might even take a tumble right there on stage and destroy the entire performance. This wasn’t his world and he should never have tried to venture into it, not even for a free meal.
Getting his hair and makeup done, Youngjae could only think that whoever knew him outside of the competition was going to have the time of their life after this. His outfit was sickeningly cutesy he thought and although he had been the one to spill the idea of the whole thing, he was starting to regret the result. The song carried a refreshing image, so linking it to clothes like this wasn’t too far fetched. It was just so far from anything he would ever willingly put on. Who had brought up the idea of the different colours he couldn’t remember by now, but it had been a passing remark that had made Youngjae make an off comments. “That sounds like power rangers. With the different colours and stuff.”
And thus their group name had also come to be. When it was finally the time for team D to claim their spot upon the stage, he joined the others in a unified introduction. “We are the Flower Rangers!” he spoke with feigned enthusiasm, although he wondered if anyone would even notice if he didn’t speak as eagerly as everyone else. He had after all barely got any screen time thus far, and he was surprised if anyone watching the show even cared about him. After an individual introduction everyone got into position and the lights dimmed.
The moment the music started playing Sana sang, her voice in stark contrast to the original deep vocal of the song. For this segment as well as for most of the song Youngjae was placed in the back, hidden away so his mistakes wouldn’t be as obvious. Which was just why he couldn’t afford to mess up on the parts that were actually his. For the entire first verse he had nothing to do vocals wise, but the moment the chorus hit, Youngjae stepped up to cover Sana who had just been singing right before him.
You’re my flower You’re my spring Because you keep blooming I can’t handle it, what do I do?
What had caused him the greatest worry was the jump after the first line of the chorus. In training it had taken ages before he had managed to make it look even decent, only thanks to Haknyeon’s coaching him. In the end he could do it mostly every time, but pulling it off on stage had worried him a lot. So it pleased him when he managed to perform it just as practised. The next half of the chorus was a bit of a high pitch, but that didn’t worry Youngjae. High notes were one of the things his singing teacher had practised with him and he had been training his vocal range. And just as he expected there were also no problems pulling it off.
Now I’m here I’ll embrace you  Ever since we first met, you’re--
Taking over, Jeongguk stepped into the centre and pushed Youngjae further back before continuing the song with the killing part. For now his moment of spotlight was over, and he went back to hide behind everyone else. They were slightly tied down by only having one rapper in the group considering the song had three relatively filling rap parts, and as Haknyeon stepped up for the second time, and he would once more after the second chorus, this time carried by Sana, Youngjae just hoped that no one would think that the younger got too many parts compared to the rest and thereby outshone everyone else. There was only so much they could do with what they had. And Youngjae still had something he could do, for as the second chorus finished and went straight into the next rap part, it was surprisingly enough his turn.
I want you, I can’t express this all with words My lips won’t move how I want
Instead of rapping, however, Youngjae opted to sing the lines. After learning that Moonbok who had already been eliminated from the competition was a music theory major, he had chosen to seek out the person with the most fabulous hair in the entire MGAs. It had been easy to lure him in -- “I’ll let you play with my dog if you help me” -- and thus the two had met up in Youngjae’s apartment to come up with a good vocal part instead. Youngjae had a creative mind, but he lacked the actual theory behind rearranging a rap into song, but he was greatly satisfied with the result. Then as the chorus hit for the last time, the dance calmed down to allow for the artist to pour his heart into the adlibs to create flavour to Yongguk’s singing in this part. He liked to believe that their voices fit well together, not only as the two best vocalists on the team but also with their vocal colours. Or perhaps he was just biased towards Yongguk after the interest he had taken in the other male.
Another two words sung in addition to the other vocalist’s performance as well as a dance break led by Jeongguk later, the performance was over, and as Youngjae prepared for the very last step of the dance, he took off the flower that had been fastened to his chest pocket. To match his outfit and the power rangers theme they had going, his flower was one with black petals. Together with everyone else, he then held it out to the audience, as if telling everyone that the song applied to them. A corny and cheesy as fuck move, but hey, if it worked it worked. And with that finishing touch the performance was over.

〈★〉MGAS SEASON 4 - EPISODE SIX - TEAM PERFORMANCE           ↳ bossa nova ( #4004, #4005, #4007, #4027, #4036, #4049 )                ↳ song: energetic by wanna one - click for line distribution
This is not something that he wanted to have to experience. Mingyu didn’t view himself as the leader type. Perhaps he could get better at it over time, but he was put on the spot and forced to do his best. Now, his team came second to last and he was still shouldering the blame despite the words that his mother had told him. Being a leader could surely be rewarding if the team was led to victory, though he was now full of guilt as Yoongi was eliminated from the show. Even if he didn’t exactly get to know him, it still was a huge loss. Still, the following week was going to be better, he was sure, and he felt relief that he didn’t have to worry about being team leader again. At least that was behind him and now he could move forward... he was just happy that he was still in this competition.
Being on a team with two of his previous teammates made Mingyu feel a lot of excitement. Especially considering the fact that they were both girls that he felt very fond of. Even though he wasn’t given the chance to perform with Won yet, he felt comfortable with those he’d be surrounded by this week. He was going to be back at the KT building, which is where he was the last time he practiced with Jinsoul... it just gave him a sense of familiarity.
The week seemed to zoom by for Mingyu. He’s sure that it’s only because of how much fun he managed to have. First, with Luxe debuting, he was lucky to attend their showcase and then bond over the new group with one of his team members. Just seeing those girls made him feel so much pride and it helped him realize that his dream didn’t need to be that far away. Mingyu practically watched Dawon throughout her journey of achieving her dreams and it helped him see that it wasn’t completely out of reach.
He had to work hard if he wanted to get everything that he wanted. There was no way that he could begin slipping now. Even though he hasn’t been ranking too wonderfully, he had faith that his team this week would pull themselves up and place much higher than he has before. Choosing the leader was easy since there was only one person that could even do it. Then, it didn’t take Jonghyun long to suggest the perfect song, either. Energetic by Wanna One would be a fun, exciting performance. It was a song that Mingyu had been wanting to perform for a while, he just never had a large number of people to do it with.
He continued going home most nights so that he could rest well and comfortably since he surely needed it. It was important to keep his strength up so that he wouldn’t end up collapsing on stage (or anything worse). Despite not being leader, he still tried to make sure that his team was staying healthy, too, bringing them meals and snacks when he had the chance. One day, he gave Doyeon a sandwich which he ended up being really happy that he did, since she had been lost in her practicing and hadn’t eaten in a while.
Having singing parts in the song was a bit scary since he wasn’t at all that confident in his vocal abilities. Still, at least he didn’t have any extremely challenging parts. He spent a lot of time practicing with Yoojung since she was in the same boat that he was. He also spent time perfecting the dance moves with Jinsoul since she had informed him that she had done a cover of this once before. Spending time with those two girls was something he intended to ensure he did even after the competition, so he was glad he got the chance to do this with them.
By the end of it, there wasn’t really anything that he thought he wasn’t at all prepared to perform.
Once it was Friday, he felt some nervousness begin to settle. He tried to push away any fearful or negative thoughts since he couldn’t carry them with him if he wanted to keep a clear mind for a good performance. Once they were on stage, they all introduced themselves as team “bossa nova” and did their individual introductions before it was time for them to perform.
더 빠져들어가 숨 막히게 baby
When it first started, he was a little scared that he would end up somehow messing up when it came to the lines he was meant to sing. He kept anticipating his rap lines so that he would really show off his talent, but he knew he would have to do well with both.
Make me feel so high 미치겠어 날 멈출 순 없어
Even though he was a little afraid, he never did do anything really badly. After all, he wasn’t given the most difficult lines in the song. They were fairly easy to manage.
Uh 1 2 3 & 4 니 옆의 딴 놈들이 거슬려 좀 Who am I 오직 너만을 지키는 킬러 말 그대로 난 좀 죽여줘 yeah
He had to display a lot of confidence when delivering his first verse, which was easy enough since it’s what he really felt he could do the best. Still, once it was over, he did his best to just focus on his dancing (which he was beginning to have a lot more confidence in) before he had to sing his next lines.
You make me feel so high I’m so crazy 너가 나를 본 순간
Singing had always been something that he wanted to get better at. He’s always admired singers so much because he loves listening to their voices and wishes he had that kind of talent. Performing in musicals was sort of a dream of his, though he never did have the skills for it. Now that his dancing was improving a lot, perhaps singing would be his next skill to focus on so he could add it to his repertoire one day.
I’m feelin’ good
Reciting that particular line made the boy think back on Luxe’s debut song and he smiled even wider, trying not to get too distracted as he finished up the performance.
질문은 나중에 해 딴 남자들은 넘보지 말게 누가 봐도 so 쿨하게 이제 시작해 you know I mean
His last rap was probably his favorite part of the song, so he felt happy that he had it. After everyone else had done their parts and all of them followed along with the choreography, the song came to a close. They’ve done it again... delivered yet another performance that Mingyu could be proud of. He’s never felt disappointed at his or his team’s executions of performances, only what they ended up ranking. Never did he truly believe that his team did bad... other teams just usually do better. He hopes that happens differently this time around. He would love to see this team really succeed... They’ve earned it, right?

mga season 4 ― camera relay
#4007 ― choi yoojung  •  choregraphy inspo
“ ahh, is it my turn already ? ”
yoojung whined lightly as mingyu handed her the camera, anxiety bubbling in her chest. for the most part, the initial worry had subsided as the other members displayed their own talents, acted goofy, and more. but it was much easier said than done ― she should've been thinking about what she was going to do  before the camera got to do, but to be quite honest she hadn't really thought much about it. so, when it was finally in her hands, the worry was back, resulting in her shooting mingyu an exasperated expression. however, when she turned her head toward the camera, yoojung smiled brightly.
“ hello ~ ” she giggled out, waving at the lens with her free hand. it was a familiar feeling to be looking into a camera lens again, but she had never really been too fond of vlogging. as much as she missed being on camera in a studio, she couldn't help but feel odd ― she pushed her fringe out of her face once again, having just decided to push it to either side during practice, because it stuck to her forehead otherwise. “ i'm contestant number 4007 ― choi yoojung. ” she introduced; “ it took me forever, but i'm finally on the same team as my dear doyeon-unnie !! ” yoojung exclaimed, rushing over to doyeon for a moment and leaning on the elder ― “ i've missed my unnie ― the best unnie. ” she chuckled, setting her hand under doyeon's chin as a half-flower pose. she giggled lightly at the elder before scooting away from the elder, humming ― “ i'm also on the same team as mingyu-ssi again; he's helping me prepare a new skill that i hope you all enjoy ― but it's a secret !! ” she placed a finger on her lips with a smile, as she spun the camera around to frame the boy again. “ all of my teammates are so helpful, they're so lovely. ” she scrunched up her face cutely before laughing again. who knew something like this would make her so giggly ?
“ ah ― i still have so long, what should i do … ? ” she asked herself quietly, glancing into the viewfinder before a thought finally crossed her mind ― “ ah ! wait, mingyu-ssi !! hold the camera ― ” she instructed lightly, handing off the camera back to the boy before pulling her phone out quickly and searching her feed for a moment. a small “ ah ! ” was the only indication she had found what she was looking for before she tapped the screen lightly, and drake's in my feelings began playing.
yoojung was going to be quite honest, the whole trend of people stepping out of moving cars, holding up traffic, and some even being injured, was stupid. she didn't really like what people have done with it ― but it was a song with a good beat, so to say she hadn't been listening to it and perhaps thinking up a routine would be a lie. not to mention, yoojung hadn't danced in her own style in weeks.
the moment the music started, yoojung's body was loose.
it was a relief to finally be able to dance how she used to ― how she had for years. idol routines were different from what yoojung was used to ― different from what she had even auditioned with; it was a wonder she could fit into them so easily. but then again, she'd spent years doing tons of different styles, wasn't it only natural she could learn another so quickly ? but she missed personalizing it ― she missed feeling the music and just moving with it; that was the one thing yoojung missed beyond anything. being a choreographer, yoojung always wanted to leave her mark on her performances, and that just wasn't realistic when it came to this competition. they had to bring as much of themselves to the table, as they did the idols they were covering.
as much as yoojung wanted this, she wanted to be able to dance in her own style from time to time ― which was something the time constraints didn't really allow.
now, however, yoojung had the ability to do whatever she wanted ― the in my feelings challenge was the first thing that had come to mind, and she would take any opportunity she could to dance in her own style. throwing a kiss up into the air, yoojung acknowledged the camera, pointing at the lens with a slight smile on her lips before kicking up her leg, bringing her arms to curl at the crook of her neck, and putting as much aegyo into the action as she smiled sweetly ― before, once again, she dropped into her usual style. something so familiar it felt like home, and without having to think, yoojung's body knew what to do. she mimicked a driving motion, legs twisting beneath her, before bringing it all back in to shake her fingers and act cutesy once again.
yoojung was genuinely surprised how easy it was for her to play into the audience and attempt appealing to them ― she supposed being around people who wanted to do just that these past few weeks had brought out a side in yoojung she wasn't used to seeing. typically shy and awkward around people, she was simply glowing on camera ― of course, that wasn't something she was unfamiliar about. it was just different feeling so free, not as if everything had to be perfect for her to appeal to whomever was watching.
when the chorus of the song came, yoojung couldn't help but continue to freestyle after it, letting loose a little more and allowing herself to act goofy before she doubled over laughing, approaching mingyu. she had been performing for weeks ― just having fun for the sake of it was long overdue. however, she couldn't help the blush that came to her face as she took the camera from mingyu's hands ― “ ah, i promise i'll try not to do that again. ” she chuckled. “ please support team b !! we're working harder than ever to bring you guys a fantastic, energetic performance !! team b fighting ~ !! ” she put her free hand up in a little fist, shaking it around before winking at the camera. she giggled again as she handed it off to longguo.

✧ ☆⋆MGA SEASON 4 - #4040⋆☆ ✧
(ROUND 3)
✧ trouble maker - trouble maker
✧ outfit
✧ hair & makeup
✧ featuring: TEAM C(hungha) @rkars @longguork @rkjeon @danielxrk
chungha didn’t know how to feel after hearing her team members. to be honest she was feeling kind of neutral about her members thus far. then again, she wasn’t quite sure where everyone stood in relation to one another. she just knew that of the bunch, daniel was amongst the lowest in ranks as he was almost sent home last episode. if anything, he was the one to focus on.
jeon jeongguk. he was the boy that sat to her left every episode from now on. his performances had impressed her. he was a dancer and he knew how to connect his dance to the music. he was one of those that made viewers feel. if they were being ranks on their strongest skill alone, chungha figures jeongguk is one of the stronger ones. when he danced, she was kind of left in awe. if jeongguk wasn’t anything but one of the top spot she’d be surprised.
when they first introduce themselves to one another in the nova building, she shares how she felt about his performances. “i think you put a lot of emotion into your dancing. it captures attention.” which would be a plus for their group considering all of them were singers, for the most part. “i’m glad we ended up on the team together.”
they needed a little diversity on their team. dancing was fine and all but they needed to be strong in every skill. youngjae and yongguk, from her memory, sang. she remember yongguk’s because he played a ukele and she remembered thinking how adorable it was. but she wasn’t so sure if either of them danced. when they finally got around to asking each other what to do, she’ll learn but a part of her was worried that the answer would be no.
daniel was the one she hasn’t paid attention to. not because he wasn’t talented or anything but because he seemed to have a trend with his performances: he sang and played guitar. that worried her immensely. daniel seemed to stick to his guitar like it was his protector. something told her that he didn’t have much else to bring to the table if someone snatched his instruments away.
sadly, she was right.
before they got started, chungha made sure to pull daniel aside. her intentions were to make sure he was okay and to make sure his head was in the game. it could be a blow to the ego to be on the bottom of the invisible ranks that they were unaware of yet. at least there wasn’t an actual numerical ranking system. if he was on the bottom by a lot, the blow might’ve been greater -- and if he barely made it through the skin of his teeth, it may have been even more discouraging. there was a certain funk that would hang over someone after someone like that. daniel wasn’t the strongest competitor in the mgas. the last thing she needed was an emotional handicap holding him back as well.
after the quick catch-up with daniel, it was time to know her other members a bit better. it included proper introductions and what people were good at. for the most part, she had at least a vague idea with what everyone’s strongest skill was (after the episodes have aired, of course) but secondary and tertiary skills (if any) were unknown for now. they needed to lay it out on the table to at least begin to brain storm where they stood in terms of possible songs they could do.
there was clear panic on her face hearing that no one else seemed to be decent enough in dancing. her face blanched at the prospect of having to deliver a mediocre performance because her group’s skill sets didn’t match. instead of immediately panicking, they settled down to figure this out. she was the first to say that they should do a routine that isn’t difficult with choreography but just as eye catching. “everything will be okay as long as we can capture the attention of not only the viewers and the audience but the panel as well. it doesn’t have to be a crazy and impressive number. as long as we show that we have competence and can manage that along with stage presence, i think we’ll do okay.”
o.k by b1a4
she’s never heard the song before but she figures she shouldn’t count it out. “can i see the video?” she asks, mildly interested in the option. she’s not sure where they’re going to go with this but as the video plays, her disgust is clear on her face. “i don’t like this song,” she says honestly. “i think it’s cute and very catchy but i don’t think this is mga performance material at all. i feel as though we could pick another, much stronger song and still accommodate to people who can’t dance as well.” of course she wasn’t going to veto it altogether. she even added, “but if you guys like it and feel comfortable with doing it, i’m down for it.”
thankfully no one else was really too attached to the song. she may have cried if they went along with it. her relief is clear (they dodged a bullet) but they couldn’t spend so much time just flipping through songs. someone suggests troublemaker. “we’d have to tweak the choreography.” youngjae and jeongguk both suggested ideas where jeongguk starts off the song and the other start as backup and then they rotate who dances centre with chungha. it sounded like a solid idea.
before diving into the performance, they needed a leader. in the midst of verbally rationalising who would make sense as leader (asking ages, what experience everyone had, etc.), chungha was quick to voice her opinion. “before we choose, i do not want to be the leader just because i’m the eldest.” surely she’d have the natural inclination to guide the others simply because she was older but she would prefer there being a legitimate reason as to why she was chosen (if she was chosen). and as yongguk so clearly shared with his nomination of chungha, she was the eldest and deserved the respect. she’d rather it be because they were impressed by her performances thus far or because she was the only one of the pack to have actually done this before.
a part of her was unsure with being leader. it’s not as if she didn’t know what to do. she knew exactly what she’d have to do as leader but it also meant she’d assume most of the responsibility if anyone falters. it becomes less of “oh so-and-so you messed up here” and more of “ah, kim chungha, why did you let your term fall into shambles?” it was selfish but she wasn’t sure if she wanted to assume that kind of responsibility in this kind of competition. it could potentially reflect negatively. she’s sure those opinionated netizens would have a ball if she failed.
to her surprise, she ends up elected leader despite her minor opposition. jeongguk looked awfully disappointed at the fact. daniel had raised a point that he felt weird listening to jeongguk as leader when they were the same age. chungha understood, considering jeongguk was a little younger than she was and it would be weird to listen to someone younger than you. chungha steals away to go to jeongguk’s side. “hey,” she nudges him softly. “i thought you had leader potential. that’s why i voted for you.” she wonders who the other vote was if the other three voted for her. “don’t take it as a personal loss. and besides,” she smiles at him, “i could use some help getting this group ready.”
getting ready takes a majority of the week. come the time for recording and performing, she’s only mildly nervous. it’s not even for the sake of her own singing and dancing -- that she’s long since grown used to after the years of training. it’s all worry with how her team would look as a unit. while she performs, she couldn’t let any expression pass on her face (not even a grimace) that would clue that someone fucked up or someone sounded off key.
chungha had also resented the initial performance of trouble maker and made a few tweaks of her own. mostly more dances on her end so while she’s off to the side, she does something similar to what the boys do: she sensually dances. save for the dance break the boys have without her; that she’s completely off stage for. she also tweaked the background dance for the rest of the boys at the end because it required partners. so she created her own simple steps for them to follow in the back while she and youngjae closed out the song.
the space they’re in until they wait for performances is nice. they sit together as a unit and chungha offers small commentary while they watch to the groups that impress her. out of the two teams proceeded them, chungha is more worried about team b. the boys was an excellent song to do. she would have kicked herself about the missed opportunity if it weren’t for the fact that her team weren’t dancers anyways and probably would have done much worse with that choreography. it was bad enough that the others struggled with troublemaker which was more of a charisma performance than an actual dance anyways.
something she kept in mind (and told the other boys) was to play it up. amp up the charisma and the sexiness. cop an extra feel, accentuate movements with a wink or a kiss. the song was all about charisma which was why there was a lack of harder dancing. chungha even took her own advice during her performance and played up her role as hot arm candy, swaying her hips or moving in a way that drew attention.
she made sure her voice was clear. stronger, in the very least, than the actual artist during her own stage performance in the song. it may have been the classics round but she sure as hell made sure not to sound like she was a classic. she projected her voice so she was clearly heard in the harmony of the chorus every time. it was a very male dominant song. it was sad how this was a duo but the man took up most of the attention the entire song. so with her parts where she was the focus of attention, she makes damn sure she does them well.
her voice isn’t as soft as the original troublemaker female. so her words are far less breathy when she raps and sings. she’s always had a strong vocal presence. it makes it that much easier for her to dance and sing without sounding pitchy. for herself, the song was in a range that was doable. it was almost easy because she sang in the same few notes the entire length of the song (save for the end).
towards the end of the song, just before the dance break, she mirrors the moves jeongguk does as she sings. it was much better than just standing there and singing when she was capable of dancing and holding her pitch. walking off to the side she was able to view the product of her teaching the team and how well they handled the break before she needed to come back in. she will say they were a charismatic group. it worked in their favour. and youngjae bodied those adlibs. she was actually proud.
while youngjae took the foreground to dance at the end of the sound, she danced as well in the back. it was her own freestyle. nothing crazy, just something similar to youngjae until he came up to her in the end. he grabbed her face. chungha picked up her left hand (the one opposite and hidden from the stage and cameras) to hold his face and place two fingers between their lips. they ended the song “kissing”, just like the performers did back then. breaking away she smiled, quickly hugging youngjae before bouncing off stage to the rest of the group.
“after this we should get dinner. to celebrate for a great performance no matter how we rank,” she tells them on the way back to the viewing room. “i’m really proud of all of you -- and daniel! you did so great!” just managing to pull it together was a huge relief. what they started with versus what they ended with was a feat; an accomplishment that deserved to be celebrated even if one of them ended up going home.
and, as a good leader should, she even promised to pay for them all.

starter for @longguork
“have you seen this handsome guy around?!” dawon’s waving his wallet around as he scoots on by the campus of yonsei university on his hot pink scooter. therefore, no, these fellow college kids probably have not seen this guy around. by this guy, he means his most favorite person in the whole wide world. at least, that’s what yongguk thinks and dawon does agree, so it’s not wrong.
“his name is kim yongguk! he’s a pretty swell dude. really cute, too. if you see him, tell him that lee dawon is here on campus and is looking for him!” dawon pauses on his ride to talk to a few girls on his way, grinning and attempting to flirt when he remembers why he’s even at this college he doesn’t even attend.
“kim yongguk, i know you’re here! hyung’s gonna put you in a headlock!” honestly, he probably shouldn’t be saying those kinds of things on a college campus, but really, he can weasel his way out of any trouble. plus he could easily just blame it on someone else. maybe even push the blame onto yongguk if he has to.

the tallest tree
@longguork
Participation in the local centre’s Christmas show had been a yearly tradition for Seungjun; he made some of the costumes, helped the kids learn their songs and was the Christmas tree from the age of fifteen where he was too tall to be anything else but. Every year the adults played the same roles throughout the show, with one of the elderly men in the centre dressing up as Santa Claus coming out after to give the children gifts. The kids sung, the grandparents watched in delight and the parents happily filmed everything. Only this year, the girl who had meant to play the elf had come down with a cold and Seungjun had to find someone to replace her.
“Please, Yonggukie, I wouldn’t ask.. but the play is in an hour. You have one line!” Seungjun’s pleads, standing in front of his friend dressed as a Christmas tree. The green body covering his lanky one, his face painted a white shade and red dots for cheeks. A gold star was pasted on top, silver painted tinsel around his body and fabric red balls. It was a perfect costume for his role in the community centres play. “All you have to do is come out before Santa and say that he’s coming -- and then the kids sing another song, and Santa Claus comes out with his bag of gifts for them,” he explained, lowering his head and jutting out his lip as he tried to convince the younger more. “The kids all expect there to be an elf, they’ll be sad if there isn’t one. Who else can announce Santa’s arrival?”

➟「美妙」Worth fighting for。
@longguork
It was fun. That was the best way Youngjae could describe it. The way Yongguk had taken him so seriously when he had said a mere joke had caused a spark of interest in the other that hadn’t been there thus far other than in the guy’s skills as a vocalist and a kindred spirit in lack of dancing skills. Was he trying to flirt? Not now. Maybe some day, but it hadn’t been more than a joke with misunderstood intentions. He had to admit though, the other was cute, but there was just so much else on his mind right now to even think about trying to see if he had a chance.
But the fact remained that Yongguk had managed to cause his interest to rise, and it wasn’t that often that happened. Perhaps that was the main reason. A change for the better in an otherwise very bothersome existence, especially now that he had got himself stuck in this shit. Perhaps the interest would pass as suddenly as it had appeared, but for now he wanted to peek further in. Maybe even find a reason to attempt to continue down this road if only to waste away his summer vacation in a manner different from simply getting piss drunk every day.
At this moment it was just the two in the practice room. They all practically lived there by now, but it was still possible to find quiet moments like this. Youngjae had found his stamina lacking and a break in order, and instead he simply sat against the wall, water bottle in hand and eyes fixated on the moves of the other vocalist. “I never thought I’d be working this hard on dancing of all things,” he muttered with a low voice into the room. “At least the look makes it worth it.”

( edit: i’m reblogging and adding more stuff under the cut for rkfourth lol i’m crying again )
first of all, lemme preface this post with a happy 4th anniversary, rookies! i honestly love being a part of this community, through its ups and downs, for the past years! this rp has fostered so many connections, so many friends that i’ve had the pleasure to know for now so long, and for that i’m entirely grateful to everyone who’s had a part in creating and maintaining this community, you all are rockstars tbh!
now, you’re probably wondering why i’m making a post like this, as i don’t really do this that often ( or at all actually lol i don’t remember ), but as it has just turned midnight in my timezone, it’s also officially been my 4 year anniversary with rookies! and what an amazing four years this has been!
it all started on this exact day with rkohsehun, my first ever muse at this rp! the stuttering, bumbling qt that became one of the first trainees that the rp has produced! i owe it all to my first lil muse that i’m here in the first place, because without sehun, i wouldn’t have been here at all and i wouldn’t have had the growth that i’ve gained as a writer as the years progressed! along came so many more muses, and some of them i honestly don’t even remember -- but then i picked up rkjaebum as a muse and honestly, this was when the formative years of my writer’s growth began, because along with rkohsehun, i had two different muses to portray and play that i enjoyed very much! being apart of the mgas, scouted by nova, every part of rkjaebum’s experience was a joy to rp, and he’s still one of my fav muses to date! :’)
then i took a lil break from late 2015 to around the middle of 2016 to reflect upon myself and focus a bit on real life ( it wasn’t a long hiatus so i don’t rly count it as a disturbance in my personal timeline LOL ), then came back with rkxwei, who was too short-lived but still propelled me back into rping in general!
i believe i picked up rktaeyxng as a 2nd muse ( i honestly can’t remember ) and his own anniversary of being in rookies is coming up later this month, but here i am now with him and longguork!
looking back, with a muse of mine being a part of the first trainee team and now one of them going to be a part of one of the first debut teams, i’ve had a pretty lengthy history with this roleplay. it’s so near and dear to my heart, i just love coming back here to check up on what everyone’s been doing, read everyone’s amazing writing, and just writing myself -- i’ve come so far with my writing experience with big help from being in this rp, not to mention i’ve met so many people and made so many friends here, it’s surreal to think that it’s been four years already!
it’s almost like i grew up with this rp, that i’ve matured with this rp -- i was sixteen when i joined four years ago, now i’m twenty going on twenty-one, and that’s just... wild to think about. through the highs and lows, i know that this community of amazing writers is more than just another tumblr rp -- it’s a family! while that may be incredibly sappy and i’m cringing at myself for using that wording, it couldn’t be anymore true -- each and every one of you all, no matter if i’ve interacted with you extensively or not, have played such an important role in my life. being in this rp has kept me within the kpop fandom and retained me in the tumblr rp community for the past like 6 years, and that’s a milestone in itself. like... idk i’m still thinking about how surreal all of this is, seeing how this rp progressed from an idea from the original admin team to this powerhouse in the tumblr krp community in general.
i like to think of rookies as my sister or something -- because i’ve spent so much time here and to see it grow as i also grow is just really emotional. i graduated high school while in rookies, i got into college with rookies, and soon, hopefully, i’ll graduate college with rookies. the staying power that this rp has is so admirable, and it wouldn’t have happened without each and every one of the admod team and each and every mun here, both new and old!
i’m so thankful for all the memories, and i’m so excited to make more memories in the future! ilysm rookies 💞 ( ps. i would put a list of muses i’ve had here but ahh i don’t remember a lot of them except rkohsehun, rkjaebum, rkxwei, euaerinrk, rkmoonbin, rktaeyxng, and longguok )

mga season 4 episode 6 ― summertime
#4007 ― choi yoojung  •  energetic by wanna one  •  line distribution @rkmg, @rkdoyexn, @jinsoulrk, @rkjhyun, @longguork
ending up as a low-ranking team was a common feeling for yoojung, but ranking last when it was her own responsibility to keep herself and her members afloat was even worse. it hurt even more that yoojung lost not just one, but two members of her team. just like that, five became three ― and yoojung finally just lets herself cry the moment her team was declared last. keeping her head down, yoojung's shoulders shook as they listened to the judges call their performance boring ― that their team was basically a group of one-trick ponies, and that it wasn't good enough. that they weren't good enough. it wouldn't be until much later that the sickening feeling of relief because of her own survival would make itself home in her mind, which drew on yoojung more than the sadness in ranking last.
they go on to announce that the next round would include wildcards, which makes yoojung's chest tighten just a bit more. while yoojung had the smallest inkling that she was still there for a reason, that she still had something to prove, the fact she'd ranked low the last six weeks was at the forefront of her mind. after all, if they were willing to bring back old contestants to replace contestants who had yet to lose their spot on the show, shouldn't she be worried ? she had yet to feel as though she had truly made an impact ― maybe this would be the week she was finally asked to leave. but then again, she knew absolutely nothing about the judging process, couldn't tell what they wanted from them ― other than to perform well, yoojung couldn't understand. even when a group seemed to play to their own strengths, it wasn't enough.
yoojung couldn't help but feel like she wasn't enough.
after the recording's done, yoojung finds herself curled up in her bed, happy that the air conditioning was on high as she hid under her comforter. she couldn't manage getting up that night, staying curled up until early the next morning, when doyeon managed to get yoojung to crawl out of bed and head to the kt building. as much as the events of the past few weeks were dragging yoojung down, there seemed to be something different about this week ― and it all started with heading to the building with doyeon, arm in arm. for once, yoojung actually knew people on her team, and was overly excited to be able to perform alongside her unnie.
it was the one thing that seemed to allow yoojung to relax, even the slightest, when it came to her team. after all, she would be working with at least one person that she knew personally, and one person she had already performed with. the comfort of being around people who she cared about, and who cared about her in return, made yoojung relax slightly, even though she would be in the kt building this time around. the change of surroundings was overshadowed by her overwhelming joy in working with people she knew and loved, which ultimately improved yoojung's over all mood about the situation she was in. she couldn't let her latest failure dictate how she did this performance ― no matter how much her mind tried to tell her that she needed to worry about it. that she wasn't worth it.
she couldn't let those thoughts consume her ― not now. she had made it to the sixth episode, which was a feat not all could say they'd achieved. yoojung needed to continue working harder, no matter how beat-down she felt. she needed to survive ― needed to keep her place in the competition, if only just for a bit longer.
their team was pretty well-balanced ― three singers, three rappers, and three dancers ― but they all were pretty well-rounded enough to perform well, regardless of the lines they were given. having doyeon and mingyu on her team brought yoojung up a bit, pulling her from her melancholy mood a bit quicker than in previous rounds; not to mention longguo, jinsoul, and jonghyun were just as easy to get along with. while yoojung knew, being that there were only five teams left ― plus the wildcards, ― that their chances were getting slimmer and slimmer as time went on, she was still determined to perform her best.
the first decision of team leader was easy to make, being that there was only one member eligible for the position anyway, and they were able to quickly move on to decide on a song. it was more difficult than first thought, because while they had plenty of members as vocalists and rappers, the fact of the matter was they weren't as well-rounded as originally thought. after all, for the most part the rappers were strong in rap, and the vocalists in singing ― there wasn't a very good middle-ground, and with there being three rappers, it made things difficult. mingyu, jonghyun, and yoojung eventually compromised, deciding that they needed to showcase a strong choreography, even if they couldn't do so with their rapping skills. after all, they were a group with a solid set of dancers, and yoojung wasn't exactly confident going with something with simpler choreography, considering the critiques on her last performance.
when wanna one's energetic was suggested, all the members seemed to perk up at the suggestion, immediately agreeing ― which made everything so much easier. once the song is picked, positions are given out and lines are distributed with minor difficulties. she's genuinely overjoyed when she and doyeon are given the positions of centers in the dance breaks, and works well alongside the elder to perfect the choregraphy. from time to time yoojung helps with formations, being sans the five extra members that make up wanna one, but other than that the performance seems to go along swimmingly. the only thing yoojung's genuinely apprehensive about is that she was given singing lines.
yoojung doesn't really question the decision, after all they had her sing a few lines before officially giving them to her ― they had to at least feel semi-confident in her non-skills as a vocalist. however, that doesn't mean she isn't apprehensive. she had presented herself as a rapper for a reason, and had done no singing on the show, even in her audition. it would be a first for everyone ― after all, the only person who had ever heard her sing before was doyeon, and an odd number of people online.
while apprehensive, yoojung does her best. she works alongside mingyu to practice her lines, asking for help from doyeon, jinsoul, and longguo from time-to-time ― while the lines weren't too difficult, it didn't make her feel any better about the situation. thus, she needed confirmation from her vocalist members that she was at least doing decently ― and over time yoojung allowed herself to be more confident about it. allowed herself to sing out during their practices, because there was no way she'd be able to sing out on stage if she didn't practice in front of her teammates.
practices seemed to drag on a little more than in previous weeks, if only because it seemed, after last week, that there was so much more to do. yoojung spends time on her own to perfect the small details in the mirror, as well as takes her breaks to work on her own lines. while she doesn't have a big part in the song, she sings just about as much as she raps and she tries to make sure both parts are comparable. she realizes quickly that she certainly has far more skill as a rapper, but because of the simplicity of her lines, it makes the singing lines easier, and at least she's challenging herself a bit more. opening the song isn't exactly ideal in yoojung's eyes, but that doesn't hinder her much. after all, six weeks on stage has changed her ever so slightly, and yoojung's decided she can't be anxious when it comes to her performances. of course she should be a little worried, but overall she simply needs to perform to the best of her abilities.
on their last day of practice, after running through the entirety of their performance, yoojung takes a look at all six of them in the mirror, and decides that alongside these people, she will.
while she had every other week, it seemed as though there was so much more at stake ― with only six teams remaining and the threat of the wildcards, none of their positions were safe. things were tense whenever rankings were even thought about, and yoojung didn't want that to cloud her mind during their performance. so, while she recognized that they needed to work even harder this week, she knew that the only way they would be able to exude the confidence needed, was to fake it. or, rather, channel what confidence she had, and put the doubts into the back of her mind.
she wills herself not to focus on her worries as the stylists did her makeup and hair ― tells herself to relax, because ultimately they have created a performance that yoojung herself is proud of. that she is sure they're all proud of.
for the first time, yoojung only watches one performance before they're ushered to move backstage to perform themselves, and it's a bit strange and disorienting. yoojung is sure she appears at least vaguely confused as they introduce themselves as team bossa nova ― yoojung smiles brightly at the camera, despite her initial confusion, as it comes to her; “ i'm choi yoojung, contestant #4007. ” she waves at the camera with both hands, squeezing her eyes shut as she smiles, and they quickly move on. once they've all been introduced, the group moves to their opening formation ― the iconic human-piano, albeit smaller than the original. yoojung stood off to the side, waiting until the lights came up, and the start of the music spurred her movement.
stepping over to the group, she sat lightly on the other member's knees, mimicking the motions of pressing down the keys as the song started. she straightened up as it came to the opening lines, locking her eyes on the lens of the camera as the words slipped gracefully from her lips.
너와 나의 입술이 점점 느껴지는 이 순간 속에 뜨거운 공기
her tone was hushed as she started, notes precise as she sang the lines she'd sung time and time again. she reached out to the sky, her hand gently covering her mouth as to not hinder the sound of her voice as she sang on. once longguo took over the vocals, continuing her faux-playing of the human piano in front of her. it wasn't until doyeon's vocals broke in, stronger than the quiet of the beginning as the song began to build that they broke from formation, periodically moving until they were in position for the chorus.
mingyu's voice broke through the mold, and the chorus had started; yoojung allowed her arms to move smoothly upward before rolling her hips, finger pointed down as if directing the movement. the choreography exudes pure charisma and strength, with each movement laced with complexity and liquidity. after all their practice, yoojung was confident that each member exhibited a certain amount of mastery over the movements ― knew that she herself was moving with absolute conviction. while yoojung had managed to push any worries and negative thoughts away for the time being, the reality of their situation still remained.
they needed to make an impact. yoojung was determined to do just that.
the other members circled yoojung as the chorus came to an end, returning to its calmer tone as her voice carried out over the audience. core strength she'd gained from dancing for so many years allowed her to belt out the notes without issue, still sounding smooth and soft as she sang out;
내 심장이 멈추는 그 순간까지 너를 지켜줄게 사라지지 않게
the performance continues on, mingyu's rap powerful as the rest break to either side of the male before jonghyun breaks in after him, yoojung and doyeon flanking the male before they once again break into the chorus choreography again. and one again, yoojung focuses her attention completely on the performance, hearing the thump of the drum in her chest as they moved in complete synchrony. she listens, longguo, jinsoul, doyeon, and mingyu's voices all familiar to her at this point, keeping on beat with no signs of fatigue evident. her fingers tap her shoulders, hips, the back of her neck carefully as they move through the chorus, focusing completely on what she was doing. the breakdown came quickly, but the members did allow themselves to relax, keeping their movements precise. yoojung's voice murmured, “ i wanna touch, ” carefully after jonghyun, before being followed by the remaining members of the group.
once again the choreography picked up before jonghyun's rap ― yoojung stood from her crouching position following the male's verse with a spin. she focused her eyes on the camera as she rapped out her verse, playing to the camera as the words fell from her lips.
아껴둔 너의 신발이 더러워지더라도 움직여 빨리 hurry up
mingyu followed after her, and once again the group broke into the floor work of the chorus choreography. the performance comes to a close, and all yoojung can think of was that they had done their best ― they had done absolutely everything they could've done to make the performance fantastic, and yoojung, personally, believed they had achieved that. however, in the end, she knew it didn't come down to how she felt.
therefore, when her group took their seats in the holding room, yoojung had to train her face from screwing up too much ― she eventually just settled on leaning her head on doyeon's shoulder to try and keep her expression solid. they had shown the ceos all they could, but would it be enough ?

When Wendy heard that some MGA contestants were going to be using the Nova training rooms to practice, she’s not going to lie and say she didn’t get any war flashbacks. The MGAs are a topic close to her heart, since that was what changed the course of her life. As a winner of the last season, she feels like it’s her duty to pay it forward to those who will hopefully join Nova in the future.
She sends each of the contestants using the rooms the same gift. It’s a blue pouch bag containing muscle relief patches, packs of ginger tea, and several packs of popcorn and pumpkin seeds. She also attaches a note to each bag.
Hi there!
This is Son Seungwan, a Nova trainee who won the last MGAs. As someone who’s been through what you’re experiencing now, I thought I’d give you a small care package to cheer you on. This is going to be a fun but stressful ride, and I want you to enjoy and embrace every step of a journey that can possibly change your life the way it did mine.
I’m wishing you all the best of luck! Son Seungwan
PS: I’ll be sending dinner to your practice room the night before recording, because I know how stressful the last night of practice can be. Consider it my way of supporting you all.
“aw look at this!” chungha calls out as they enter the practise room for the day. for a second, she expects it to be something from the producers. when seeing the contents of the bag, it probably could be. she takes out the note, standing to read it out loud to her team members as they had fun sifting through it.
after reading she sits down to peer over the contents, smiling widely. “we have to thank seungwan sunbaenim for being so kind! okay so during our break, as we eat, let’s brainstorm ideas, yeah?” maybe a cute bouquet or a personalised video. she doesn’t figure anyone on her team knows her personally so there wouldn’t be a way to just text her. she puts her bag on the side. “i work at a restaurant. i could always give her a free meal card, yeah?” she chuckles. maybe mexican food might be a little out of her diet but it was an idea at least.
“let’s work hard okay! and take in the strength and luck that nova’s success last year will bring us. it must be a sign we’re training here. c’mon!”
