I honestly love the clothing styles of each of the turtles in this show and I love how these styles really incorporate their personalities as well.

Like, obviously Donnie has the best sense of style, yeah? Think that’s something pretty agreed upon here. Everything we see him put together is very meticulously crafted and clean. That goes with his personality because Donnie is a very meticulous person in general, and he knows what he likes very, very well, and knows how to flaunt it in turn. Him commenting on colors he enjoys or disapproving of outfits that the others see no problem with also shows how he just generally has an eye for this kind of thing. He doesn’t just know what looks good on himself, but also what looks good on others - and I think this ties into his love of gift giving too. Donnie also has a flair for making sure that his things have his “mark” on them, and his clothing is no exception. All that he wears and how he wears them screams “Donnie.”

Mikey is really fun because his styles are honestly a pendulum between super simplistic and incredibly out there. And often, you’re going to see a lot of color or patterns to both. And in my opinion I think that all reflects really well on Mikey’s character - he’s got a colorful personality but even more than that he’s incredible sure of who he himself is. Mikey’s style, I feel, is less what looks good as clothes and more what sparks joy in Mikey himself. His bright stickers he wears are a testament of that! He’s comfortable in his own skin and his style reflects this perfectly, whether he goes for a more out-there look or a more toned down one.

Now, for Leo. Okay, I think I’m actually in the minority here I feel because Leo’s style isn’t really that bad? Hear me out- if you actually look at what he wears, try taking out, like, one accessory. Suddenly, that outfit works! He even manages to put together many good outfits in the series, but his “bad” ones are the ones that tend to stand out, alas (just like how his mistakes tend to be big ones oop-) Basically, my personal look at him is not that he’s inept at styling at all, but that he has a “too much” gene. And like everyone else, this sense of style is completely like him, too. Going too far to impress when all he needed to do was slow it down some to think things through. (And funnily enough, a lot of his outfits take random aspects from his brothers too - “nothing without them” huh?)

For Raph, I feel bad for him since pretty much all of his clothes are inevitably going to be ripped, but he makes them work pretty much each time. Like Leo, Raph tends to go more sporty with his looks, but I also noticed that his stuff often goes in that in between of comfy, cool, and cute. His pajama suit in particular comes to mind in terms of “cute” as it’s more something you’d see younger children in rather than older kids, and I think it can be a subtle nod to the fact that for all Raph tries to seem older, he’s still just a kid too.

I could probably go on, but these are just all off the top of my head - I love how the boys’ personality’s come out in so many different ways.

The Good, the Bad, and the IDK How To Feel About That of: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016) (Part 1)

My thoughts on the 2016 TMNT movie (not going to lie, I liked it so much more that the first one), what I liked about it and what I didn’t, with some random smart-alek comments and rambling in there because I can. My opinions will differ from others, now let’s have some fun!

Good: STRAIGHT TO THE TURTLES!!! It took so long to show them in the first movie, now we’re getting them right away!

Good: DONNIE GETS THE FIRST LINE!!! I felt like Donnie was severely underappreciated in the first movie and HOLY HECK do they make up for it in this one.

Good: “Squirrel formation, lol”

Good: “Do it, do it, not gonna stop until you do it” Lol, A+ on the sibling relationship there, if I had a nickel for every time one of my siblings did something similar then I wouldn’t have to worry about student loans.

Good: The ENTIRE bit from when they jump off of that building, to when they get to the basketball game, like they’re just flipping all over the place while having fun and I love it.

Bad: MIKEY IS SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST A “PIZZA LOVER”, HE’S THE LITTLE BROTHER, THE HEART OF THE TEAM, THE GOOFY KID THAT COULD MAKE HIS BROTHERS SMILE EVEN AFTER THE ROUGHEST DAY, YOU KNOW THAT IF THEY LOST HIM THEIR WORLD WOULD BE SO MUCH DARKER, DON’T DEGRADE HIM TO JUST A “PIZZA LOVER”!!!

Good: How hyped they all get while watching the game, especially Donnie, it’s adorable.

**Well, they made it pretty obvious what the main Raph v. Leo conflict is going to be, didn’t they?

Bad: HOW DARE YOU GET THEIR HOPES UP LIKE THAT!!!

Good: DONNIE’S PEASHOOTER! AND HOW THEY ALL GET SUPER INVESTED IN PRANKING VERN! I LOVE IT! (You can even see Leo laughing with them, even when he’s trying to be the responsible one.

Good: Freaking HECK they act so much like teenagers in this movie and I love it!

Good: Lol, casually shocks younger brother.

Good: I LOVE THE WATCH THAT DONNIE MADE FOR APRIL (not going to lie, I didn’t recognize April until she took off the wig, but that’s just me being horrible at recognizing people, lol)

IDK: Come on Stockman, 15 decimal points of Pi is nothing, I know 5th graders that can go out to at least 40. Up your game man, you’re supposed to be a genius.

Bad: April’s disguise walk. Come on, people, did we really need that?

Good: THE LITTLE CARTOON DONNIE FACE THAT WAS DISPLAYED! THE LITTLE ‘HEROES IN A HALF-SHELL’ JINGLE! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

Good: THEY’RE ALL SO HYPED FOR THIS GAME! YOU CAN EVEN SEE LEO DOING A LITTLE JUMP THING!!! IT’S ADORABLE!!!

Good: That was soooooo Leo’s slice of pizza, wasn’t it? Lol

IDK: IDK how basketball works but you’d think that pizza on the court would be some kind of foul or something.

Good: BUMBLEBEE!!! (I know it’s because of how Michael Bay worked on the Transformers movies but I will always love Transformers in general)

Good: Donnie uses the ‘heroes in a half-shell’ jingle for everything and it’s great

Good: I love how they got Stephen Amell to play Casey Jones, I used to watch Arrow a lot so it’s cool to see him in this.

Good: I LOVE HOW THEIR NEW LAIR IS SET UP, CAN I HAVE A WATER SLIDE IN MY HOME TOO???

Good: THE TRUCK!!! AND HOW EVEN THOUGH HIS BROTHERS ARE AMAZED BY IT, DONNIE’S JUST THINKING OF ALL THE LITTLE THINGS THAT STILL NEED WORK.

Good: Donnie just instantly jumping into engineer mode, messing with wires while rambling about what needs work still, hyperfocused to the point that they nearly crash into the wall. What a mood, Donnie is amazing in this movie.

Bad: Why didn’t they up the security for Shredder’s transport? He’s a crimelord with tons of followers, and yet they only did their standard transport, were they not expecting someone to try and break him out?

Good: “I’m Finnish, because when I start a beat-down, I finish it!” PUNS, I LIVE FOR THEM

Good: Not going to lie, while Bebop and Rocksteady were definitely intended to be the comic relief, I love how good of a friendship they have, like throughout the movie they’re just continuously joking around with each other.

Bad: Unprepared shot gun when transporting a guy that won’t hesitate to murder you.

Good: The driver’s tone of voice when saying the shells are in the bag because he knows he messed up, lol

Good: GIANT NUNCHUCKS!!! LIKE DONNIE JUST LOOKED AT THE DUMPTRUCK ARMS THINKING ‘What can I do with these…” AND THEN DECIDING TO MAKE THEM INTO GIANT NUNCHUCKS!!!

Good: All of those features in the truck, there’s SO MUCH and I love it all!!! (I’m such a nerd, lol)

**OMG, the Arc Capacitor is going to bring Cybertron to Earth! We’re going all G1 of the Transformers cartoon, aren’t we? (I’m being a sarcastic nerd, ignore me, lol)

Good: The little tongue thing Donnie does while thinking is adorable (they make him so relatable in this movie and I love it)

IDK: Wow, they’re just hammering home the whole ‘they can’t be seen by humans’ thing in this movie. (I know it’s a plot point but it feels forced, you know they’re aware of this stuff already.

Bad: Honestly though, they only had two people in the truck and they were ambushed, they’re being super tough on Casey.

Bad: IDK if I’m just not understanding the conversation, but when they’re talking about Rocksteady hitting a guard, it sounds like they’re talking about Casey, but it was Bebop that knocked him out

Good: Leg clan, lol

Good: THE SKATEBOARD CAN FLY!!! (It would be so insanely complex, like using balance to control both left/right and up/down, but then would you use amount you’re leaning one way as speed or degree of turning…there’s so many possibilities and I’m too much of a nerd, I want to know how it works)

Bad: The turtles couldn’t go with April to TCRI because it was almost light out, but when she gets there it’s almost night and then she gets saved by the turtles because then it is night and they can go outside.

Bad: STOCKMAN DOESN’T TEST THE MIXTURE OR ANYTHING TO SEE WHAT IT’S MADE OF, JUST JUMPS TO INJECTING PEOPLE WITH IT

Bad: ROCKSTEADY, YOU DON’T JUST LICK THINGS IN PETRI DISHES, THAT’S HOW PEOPLE DIE

Good: I do like how Bebop and Rocksteady’s transformation looks visually, especially when all of Rocksteady’s hair falls out, it’s pretty cool

Bad: “…gene tying us to our animal ancestors” NO. THAT’S NOT…NO!!! IF THIS GUY HAS A DEGREE IN ANYTHING EVEN SLIGHTLY RELATED TO BIOLOGY AND EVOLUTION, TAKE IT AWAY FROM HIM!!!

Good: Lol, even Shredder gives Stockman a look like “even I know that’s not how science works”

Good: Casey Jones with his hockey mask and stick, I approve

Good: THE NINJA WOOD FLUTE SOUND WITH THE TURTLES ARRIVAL!!!

Good: Casey’s reaction to the turtles, how they’re just laughing at it, and Mikey deciding to mess with him, lol

Good: Mikey’s introduction of the turtles, especially how Donnie just plays along

Good: April says that the purple ooze like the stuff in the dart she has mutated people, and Donnie instantly jumps into science mode
