Skimbleshanks collects the babies! Pouncival, then Sillabub. Mistoffelees is making explosions everywhere so better get them into a safe corner.

And here, 1) a Pouncival-coloured blob zooms excited circles around Deuteronomy while Munkustrap indulges him, then 2) clings to Deuteronomy's leg, and 3) bounces in excitement until a Bombalurina-coloured blob comes over to pet his ears. (It's been a long exciting night, kitten's a bit over-stimulated.)

I love all your posts about Jack Rebaldi as Munkustrap--he's one of my favorites, too! Are there any other actors' voices that you just automatically associate with the characters when you think of them?

I'm very happy you do, anon! Every day is a Jack Rebaldi Munkustrap appreciation day on this blog. Welcome and enjoy your stay. 

I feel like I’m relatively flexible when it comes to performers and their voices, particularly in this show where they can vary immensely. That being said, I definitely have a “type” of voice I prefer depending on the character that my brain will favour immediately upon hearing it. A few that stand out for a couple characters, off the top of my head:

Jennyanydots - Eloise Kropp, Beth Robson, Lorraine Graham, Erica Leigh Hansen, Ann Christin Elverum.

Asparagus/Bustopher/Gus/Etc. - Philippe Ermelier, Tony Timberlake, Rory Campbell, Igor Balalayev, Stephen Hanan, Eric Lee Johnson.

Munkustrap - Jack Rebaldi (of course), Steve Barton, Ben Palmer, Manuel Landeta, Keith Bernardo.

Sillabub/Jemima - Caroline Bagnall, Myrthes Monteiro, Anne-Marie Ohlicher. 

Jellylorum - Carrie Ellis, Joe Curlett, Susan Jane Tanner, Loredana Sartori.

Skimbleshanks - David Arneil, Ross Finnie (but particularly in his run during the early 2000s), Markham Gannon, Paul Knights, Lee Greenaway,  Alberto Sánchez.

Old Deuteronomy - Ken Page, Brian Blessed, James Pattison, Gordon Bovinet, Alessandro Neri.

Tugger - Richard Lloyd King, Gino Emnes, Terrence Mann, Oliver Savile, Ahmad Simmons.

#there are definitely patterns here in what i look for voice wise #can you guess what they individually are? #though gus is all over the map because i love both the richer operatically trained but also the character actor #talking voice wise - literally the only thing I ever have cross my mind in that case is that skimble's got a scottish accent #because i said so #and munkustrap speaks in that slightly lilted soft voiced can't place the accent jack rebaldi way #jellicles ask because jellicles dare #anonymous
