#40 Woodland Drive - again...

Maxis Makeover - into a classic doublewide ...this time with an above-ground pool!

As you can see in the floor-plan shot below, I changed very little about the house this time. My goal was to add/build a realistic looking above ground pool. The bathroom is a tile wider, and the shower is now a tub/shower combo (so doggies can be washed too!) The kitchen is a bit bigger too - to accommodate the sliding doors to the back porch. All major appliances are included. There's a fire alarm over the stove. The phone is in the living area. To keep costs down, I did NOT add a burglar alarm. Decos are nil and furniture is sparse, but everything a sim needs to live is included. So move in and make a splash!

Hoenn Villain Arc!  It’s over now, and that means it’s time to talk about it, and boy...oh boy, do I have a lot of opinions.

We’ll start with this: As a self-contained story, I like it.  Hoenn is just obsessed with meteors and space, so I guess it was inevitable that we turned away from the whole Groudon/Kyogre thing to focus on space when it came to Rayquaza.  I wasn’t fully expecting Deoxys, or at least expected it as part of the meteor we blew up, but instead it’s just...around?  And hostile toward Steven’s Rayquaza exclusively for some hilarious reason?  This is legitimately comical to me.  I expected them to have an explanation for its hostility but no, it’s just out for blood for no reason other than it can be.  And now Steven has both of them together on the same team, and it’s like...alright.

Zinnia’s whole thing of unlocking mega evolution is touching, if a bit rushed.  I really liked Maxie and Archie’s attempts to stop Courtney and Matt, and their recognition of how far out of their control things have gotten leading to them once again stopping their plans works out well.  I’m also kinda on board for Team Rocket using this diversion as a means of carrying out their plans without interference.  It does work well, though it’s a bit simpler than I would’ve anticipated.  And with that, I’m now going to talk a lot about over-arching problems with the villain arc.

It is literally just about Giovanni.  I had gone into all this with the expectation of Team Rainbow Rocket’s development, and the collection of all the villains toward a united goal.  That would’ve been great!  And made sense.  And been an opportunity for Lusamine to actually be part of it instead of a damsel in distress who’s unconscious the whole time, I will never forgive USUM for that.  But Cyrus didn’t really join, he just stepped down and went to find an alternate solution, and now Maxie and Archie have actively discontinued their shenanigans and are more or less on our side.  In four regional villain arcs, Giovanni is still the only threat.

And that...really blows.  I was really hopeful that this story arc would actually be a big focus on the regions, but we’re starting to dip back into a Kanto Dick-Sucking Competition again, insisting Giovanni be the dead center of every problem.  I really, really dislike this approach.  And considering he’s also getting a free alt now, it’s like...okay.  Great.  Giovanni’s up to three alts.  We’re pretty sure Red and Pikachu, with probably Ash and Pikachu as well, is happening somewhere in the next update, meaning half of all anniversary celebrations are now Kanto-dominated.  That sucks.  I don’t like it.  Kanto isn’t that interesting, talk about other stuff for once, Pokemon.

I just...feel like unless Giovanni is an active antagonist, the villain arcs return nil.  Sinnoh’s arc was just plain boring.  Nothing was accomplished, and it just didn’t go anywhere interesting with its characters, which is a tragedy considering how cool some of the sync pair concepts really were.  Hoenn’s at least better off, stuff happens that matters, but this was overall a pretty pointless interlude that resulted in Maxie and Archie ending hostilities, and Giovanni being the clear winner thanks to the unchecked theft of many Pokemon on Pasio.  Great, glad we’re just amping up Giovanni’s activities.

If it seems like all my complaints are about Giovanni, it’s because they are.  I’m full-on bothered by his presence in this arc.  I wanted an emphasis on each region, and Hoenn’s at least doing better, but it just bothers me that all of this was Maxie and Archie getting played rather than their presentation as antagonistic forces.  Unlike a Cyrus or Lysandre, who absolutely cannot win due to how extreme their goals are, these two could’ve won.  They wouldn’t have because of how their story always goes, but there was at least the chance to, like...antagonize?  Cause problems on purpose?  But they don’t.  They didn’t even want to fight, or carry out any specific plan.  They were literally just vibing and suddenly their Pokemon are fighting and that turned out to be a big old distraction from Giovanni.  Also Deoxys is around and is trying to kill Rayquaza.

My point being, Hoenn villain arc is solid, because it does have solid character moments and something to work with, but its place in the grand scheme of the arc bothers me.  I don’t like that we seem to be setting up that every antagonist exists for Giovanni to outplay, and putting all actual threat on Giovanni alone.  If they are going sequentially, Unova should be next, and I swear to god there should be no way they can make Ghetsis underwhelming as an antagonist.

Néhány nappal ezelőtt viszont végre megtörte a csendet az athéni csapat, egy posztban leírták ugyanis, hogy változásoknak néznek elébe: FXF, alias Antonios Bofilakis basszusgitáros kilépett a zenekarból, helyét AR, polgári nevén Andreas Roufagalas veszi át.
