Lost in Separation - Drowning

These guys are signed to the same label as Spiritbox, which is how I found out about them. This is some djenty goodness. Their front man has such a unique voice and this song really packs a punch. I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out for them.

Miracle Flair - The Untold

Found this through their record label and I wasn't too sure about it at first, but then the chorus kicked in and sold it to me. The vibe of the chorus is so good and haunting. It's what makes the song for me. Also the album is really nice, but this song really stands out on it.

Kari Rueslåtten - Sørgekåpe

Her new album is super soft and gentle. This is definitely my favorite off it. It's so pleasant and chill. The softness of her voice and the simplicity of the instrumentals really make it stand out compared to some of her other works. Really love this one.

Gate - Huldra

Found these guys the the recommended videos on YT and I'm so glad I found it. If Eivor decided to make prog rock, this would be it. The strong experimental folk vibes with the powerful guitars in the chorus and wild vocal lines make this song so amazing. I definitely need to check out more from them.

Caroline Polachek - Ocean of Tears

I reacted to this song over on my music channel and I'm so glad someone recommended me to react to it. It's so beautiful. Her voice is just so lovely. The song has a strong nautical feel to it and her vocal lines really add to it. I need more of her in my life.

One-Winged Angel - REBIRTH (Final Fantasy VII Remake Soundtrack)

You know what they did? That. That's what they did.

Aleah - My Will

I never thought that we would get more music from Aleah Stanbridge, but then I find this beautiful song. I also reacted to this on my music channel and was on the verge of tears the entire time. Juha is doing such an amazing job at immortalizing her voice and continues to keep her dream alive. This song is so touching and beautiful. I can't wait to get my copy next month.

Dool - Dust & Shadow

If you need some haunting doom metal, this is a great one. Such an amazing way to close off an epic album. It's so dark and haunting and wonderful. They really outdid themselves with this one. I didn't think that the new album would be so good, and then this song followed so many amazing tracks and just blew me away. It's so simple, but that production just sells it.

And that's it for May. June is already looking like it will be a slow month for me and music, so it might be a shorter list than this one. But anyways, hope you all enjoy these tunes!

Current Music Obsessions: September 16 - 30, 2018

I'm super late on getting this up, but it's time for not only this past month's last CMO post, but the last one for the summer too. So let's see them honorable mentions.

Solborn - Arcane Shores Wolfheart - Breakwater Sleepthief - The Sandshaper feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw Astray Valley - Northlights Shadowrise - Evil Conductor Dark Sarah - The Gods Speak feat. And now for my favorite obsessions.

1. Sylvaine - Abeyance

This is their first single (I think) from their upcoming release and I adore it. If you like blackgaze, post metal, doom metal, and Myrkur's style of black metal, I would highly recommend these guys. This song is lovely and great to chill to thanks to their singer's soft and haunting voice.

2. Circles - Dream Sequence

This is some proggy goodness that you absolutely need to hear. Season of Mist is really turning me onto some amazing prog bands lately. I'm definitely am gonna check out more from these guys, because this is everything that any djenty person needs in their life.

3. Blaqk Audio - Waiting to be Told

I got turned onto this song when I tuned into one of Astrid's Instagram Lives one day and wound up falling in love with it. It's a really nice synth pop track that has an 80's new wave feel to it. I definitely jammed to this a lot. It's a really great song to just put on and jam to.

4. Elephant Gun Riot - Sword From Stone

This was a fun find on Spaceuntravel. It's a really simple rock/alternative metal track, but the chorus is what truly makes it. The chorus has this air and power about it that takes it to a different level. The singer really sells it.

5. Munro - Social Deconstruct

This is their second single (I think) from the album they're currently working on. The TesseracT vibes are very strong with this one. It's so atmospheric and ambient, but still nice and djenty. The video is shot and edited so beautifully; Jake really outdid himself with it. I'm really excited what greatness these guys bring in the future with the upcoming album, because I'm loving this new sound of theirs a lot.

6. Johari - Chemical

I got really excited to see a new single from these guys and they definitely delivered. This song is absolutely everything. It has those atmospheric bits, some great aggressive djenty bits, and gorgeous vocal lines. Their singer has such a beautiful voice and it's hard for me to find male singers that I can honestly say is beautiful.

7. Tears to Embers - Masquerade

I know I keep featuring songs I find through Spaceuntravel, but they share some amazing tracks, and you need to subscribe to them if you haven't already. This is a simple song, but the execution and production on it are what make it so good. And the singer has a really great voice.

8. Spiritbox - Perennial

This is their best song to date in my opinion. It's such a wild and amazing track and never lets up. The video is so pretty and is shot so well. My favorite part of the song is definitely the verse with the pitch-shift harmonies. More bands need to play around with them; they add such a fun and cool dimension. I need more from these guys.

9. Levinia - Liberation

I learned about these guys when one of their guitar players started following me on IG. Turns out they're a symphonic metal band from the States and are absolutely amazing. This track alone is absolutely gorgeous and such a great track to be your first to hear from them. And I love the djenty vibes going on with it too.

10. Within Temptation - The Reckoning feat. Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach)

HOMAHGAWD. THEY ARE FUCKING BACK WITH THIS INSANE TRACK. I know they talked about going in a different direction, but I didn't expect this kind of direction. It's so in your face and rather aggressive, but still has that Within Temptation feel that we all love. And don't get me started on that video. Gurl. Sharon looks HEAVENLY in that video and I need her outfit. Aesthetic goals af. Can't wait for the new album to come out.

11. Neverlight - In Darkness

This is their latest single and it's a powerhouse of a track. I absolutely adore the dark vibe of it. The video for it is an art film, which is really refreshing, and has such a dark and spooky vibe to carry out the dark feel for the song. I can't wait for these guys to release more. Such a great progressive symphonic metal band from the States.

And that's it for September! I'm *hopefully* am gonna be able to purge my watch later list A LOT this month, so there might be some long lists ahead, or at least for the honorable mentions. But we'll have to wait and see about that.

Február 14-én jelent meg a spanyol Diabulus In Musica ötödik stúdióalbuma, az Euphonic Entrophy, amely igen szépen muzsikál a rajongók körében.

A csapatnak hiányzik a rajongótábora, hasonlóképpen a többi együtteshez, ám ennél jóval aggasztóbb hírekkel szolgált a zenekar énekesnője, Zuberoa Aznárez – Facebookján osztotta meg rajongóival, miszerint koronavírus-fertőzésben szenved.

“Hírek itthonról. Vasárnap este kezdtem rosszul érezni magam, és a mai napon tudtam meg a hírt, hogy ez az átkozott vírus az oka.”

– kezdte sorait a kétgyermekes édesanya, majd így folytatta:

“Lázam van és az egész testemben fájdalmat érzek. Hiába a maszk, a kézfertőtlenítés és a távolságtartás, így is megfertőződhetünk, vigyázzatok magatokra, amennyire csak lehet!”

– kéri rajongóit Zuberoa, aki azért egy jó hírrel is szolgált a fanoknak: Halloween/Mindenszentek alkalmából meglepetéssel készülnek, érdemes tehát a zenekar közösségi oldalát figyelni.

BAND RECOMMENDATIONS

I will recommend to you guys some bands that I like that I think should have a bigger fanbase because they are really good, some newer than others, but all of them are worth the listen.

1.- Diabulus In Musica [x] They are a symphonic metal band from Spain lead by Zuberoa Aznarez, they are one of my favorite bands, I believe they could go big in the scene.

2.- Edenbridge [x] A band from Austria with a long trajectory but not enough exposure, despite their big talent in music with Sabine Edelsbacher as their vocalist.

3.- Imperia [x] They are such and amazing band, Helena Iren Michaelsen is such a good vocalist, with a very diverse range, formerly known for being in Trail of Tears and Sahara Dust, before turning into Epica.

4.- Kobra and the Lotus [x] A heavy metal band from Canada, really talented with Kobra Paige as their vocalist, who has been one of the Kamelot girls in some of the tours.

5.- Unleash the Archers [x] A band that mixes melodic death metal and power metal, with Brittney Hayes a.k.a Brittney Slayes as their vocalist, who has one of the best voices in metal.

6.- Dark Sarah [x] The new band of Heidi Parviainen, former singer of Amberian Dawn, playing symphonic metal, or as she call it, cinematic metal, bringing interesting stories to life with their music.

7.- Trillium [x] Amanda Somerville’s melodic metal band, she is know for working with different bands, like Epica, Avantasia or Exit Eden, but her project is not very known.

8.- Avatarium [x] A doom metal band lead by Jennie-Ann Smith, they lso incorporate some hard rock vibes to their sound, bringing a new and refreshing sound to the metal world.

9.- Once Human [x] A melodic death metal band, for the fans of heaviness, with Lauren Hart as the vocalist, who is now know for working with Kamelot in their album The Shadow Theory.

10.- Temperance [x] Originally lead by Chiara Tricarico, now with Alessia Scolletti and Michele Guaitoli in lead vocals and Marco Pastorino in bass and second vocals, with a sound that mixes symphonic metal and melodic metal.

2016 novemberében jelent meg a spanyol szimfometálos Diabulus In Musica utolsó kiadványa, a Dirge For The Archons stúdiólemez. Sikeres európai turnét nyomott le vele a zenekar, azonban tavaly nem sokat lehetett hallani a bandáról. Tavaly ősszel azonban a formáció bejelentette: új lemezzel rukkolnak elő, amely február 14-én jelenik meg Euphonic Entropy címmel.

A korongról már láthattuk-hallhattuk a baszk nyelven íródott Otoi és a The Misfit’s Swing című dalokat.

De miért váratott magára ilyen sokáig az új album?

“Egyrészt lekötöttek a klasszikus énekesi tanulmányaim, másrészt másodszorra is szülőkké váltunk.”

– kezdte Zuberoa Aznárez, a csapat frontasszonya, akinek Instagramjáról kiderül: 2018. november 28-án született meg második gyermeke, egy kislány, aki a Mairi nevet kapta. A csöppség édesapja pedig nem más, mint az együttes billentyűse, Gorka Elso.

“Nem volt túl sok időnk összeülni, hogy megírjunk egy új albumot, de őszintén szólva, el is fáradtunk. De mivel jó lemezt akartunk írni, nem is bánjuk, hogy vártunk egy kicsit. Aztán jöttek az ötletek és megírtuk a dalokat.”

Az Otoi című szerzemény, amelyet tavaly már megmutatott a csapat, igen különleges, hiszen baszk nyelven íródott.

“Mindig csepegtettünk egy kis baszk nyelvet a korábbi albumokba is, igaz csak néhány mondatot, valamint használtuk a latin és spanyol nyelvet is, noha főleg angol nyelvűek a dalaink. Ezúttal úgy döntöttünk, hogy egy teljes dalt megírunk baszk nyelven. Az Otoi arról szól, hogy kulturális identitásunk elveszett az idők során. Itt spanyolul és baszkul beszélünk, de a baszk továbbra is kisebbségi nyelv Navarrában (Spanyolország északnyugati részén található autonóm közösség és tartomány – a szerk.), és ez nagy kincs, mivel Európában ez az egyik legrégebbi nyelv!”

– zárta sorait az énekesnő, aki egy igen dolgot is elárult a lemez megjelenési dátumával kapcsolatban: nincs különösebb jelentősége annak, hogy pont Valentin-napon jön ki a korong, hiszen ezt a kiadójuk szervezte így, de érdekes egybeesés, hogy Zuberoa első gyermeke pont e napon született 2016-ban.
