1. ARPU

ARPU is an acronym of Average Revenue Per User. It is a super simple and strategically smart KPI. It gives you insights about the average money you mint from a customer in any given day, month, quarter, year, or any period of the commitment.

2. CA

CAC stands for Customer Acquisition Cost. As the name suggests that it is the cost that you spend to lead a customer into your revenue stream. It includes all the operational and overhead costs—marketing and sales—and is a key guide in optimizing your pricing strategy in any market. As the CAC of different markets is different so the Pricing of the Product or Service of the same merchant varies in different markets.

3. MRR or ARR

MRR refers to Monthly Recurring Revenue and likewise, ARR is Annual Recurring Revenue.

For any subscription-based business model, it is the most significant metric for SaaS Reporting. MRR or ARR is used to measure, monitor, and manage the average earning entering into the recurring revenue stream in a given month or year.

MRR or ARR is not GAAP Revenue Recognition but it is great for quick, accurate, and smart insights in real-time. The different components of MRR are:

New MRR

Expansion MRR

Contraction MRR

Reactivation MRR

Churned MRR

New Net MR—it is the sum of New MRR and Expansion MRR after deducting the Churned MRR.

4. CR

CR is Churn Rate. It is the only metric that the managers want to see in a downward direction. The churn rate is used to identify the rate of the customers left the revenue stream. Investigating the reasons behind the churn helps the marketing and sales team to minimize the frictions in those directions. 

5. CLV

CLV is the Customer Lifecycle Value. It is another important metric for subscription businesses. It indicates the health of the customer.It is used to find and forecast the total amount a customer will spend in a subscription term. It also allows sales teams to identify the prospects for upsells and cross-sells at the stage of onboarding.

Withfriends runs membership programs for small businesses. Bars, theaters, barbershops, can use Withfriends to convert their customers to become monthly-paying members. Members receive simple & automated benefits, and small businesses earn additional revenue. We’ve started by focusing on music venues and event organizers. All three of us come from a lifetime of organizing events, primarily in NYC. Joe and Kunal started a music venue and collective art space in Brooklyn, called The Silent Barn. Kunal started one of the first video game galleries, called Babycastles. Martha and Joe used to run a newsprint listing called Showpaper, which aggregated shows from hundreds of venues every week. We know that culture in cities is defined by the beloved small businesses around us, we know how cultural funding works and where it falls short. With our own businesses, we saw that by changing how we asked for support, we could radically change the volume of people funding our venues, and by automating member benefits, it was easy to facilitate them. After testing an early iteration of the product with a handful of organizers, we decided to bring these insights to a larger audience as Withfriends. How does it work? We found that people are most willing to purchase a membership when asked in the checkout flow, with their credit card already out. Instead of asking business owners to promote memberships as an entirely new product, we integrate with the point of sale to sell memberships as an add on to any purchase. This makes selling memberships as easy as selling tickets for any small business, so they can start today. Withfriends uses point-of-sale APIs to make this possible, and automates member benefits directly in the POS, like presale and discounts. Any business can write in custom member benefits in addition to Withfriends benefits, but we have data from over 100,000 purchases to date on the platform, so we start each business with a proven set of membership tiers and benefits specific to their business as soon as they sign up.
