what was your character’s first impression of their partner?

Seeing as how their first interaction was Tommy "winning" a staged fight to impress her followed by all three of them managing to get themselves in detention, Carol's first impression of Tommy was a flattering "he's cute but damn he's dumb." To be honest, this antic definitely won her over, but she played it as cool (or as cool as a 5th grader is capable of playing things). She wouldn't say this to his face back then but she found him sweet and fun to be around. He kept her on her toes. It wasn't love at first sight for her but she immediately knew that there would never be a dull moment with him.

what are three things that your pairing have in common?

1.) They're both artistic, even if they'll never openly admit it to the broader Hawkins population. Tommy enjoys art, or "doodling" as he insists on calling it. Carol prefers photography and over the years has chronicled a lot of their friend groups best moments together. Neither will admit these hobbies to others who aren't Steve, though, because somehow being artsy equals being a geek and the Queen of Hawkins and her escort simply can't have that.

2.) They both rarely take things seriously. They constantly joke around, jabbing at each other and Steve. Teasing is their love language. While they're capable of having more Serious discussions why bother? What's the fun in that. Their communication style is something that can easily get on the nerves of others but it works for them.

3.) They both have wonderlust. They've been planning their escape from Hawkins for years. Carol has a roadmap where she has circled all the places she wants to visit. While they have different types of restlessness, neither can stay still for long. Their dream is to Bonnie and Clyde their way through the midwest and beyond (hopefully without all the murder and cop chases...hopefully)

how does your character calm their partner when they are angry?

You're giving my girl Carol 'I like Tommy dumb and mean' Keane a lot of credit here. But I think it's very situationally dependent. If it's just some chump at school she'll let him shove the kid into a locker but will probably call him back with a sharp "Tommy" if she thinks he's going too far. In instances where he's angry and there's either not anything for him to fight or Carol simply thinks he'll be biting off more than he can chew she'll usually reign him in with physical contact. She'll grab his hand and tug him toward her, wrap her arm around his waist, or run her hand down his back. Something that she knows will help recenter (read: distract) him.

But also Tommy is Tommy and Carol knows that sometimes Tommy's going to do what Tommy's going to do.

“You’re such an idiot. I will literally kiss you on the mouth.” — tommy actually

billy’s  eyebrow  raises  when  he  hears  the  word  idiot.  and  then  his  fist  is  itching.  wants  to-  

blue  eyes  trail  from  the  spot  on  the  ground  that  was  mildly  interesting  to  tommy’s  face.  and  he’s  like.  a  cute  guy.  right.  “-jesus,  hernandez,  didn’t  think  the  alcohol  was  making  you  that  brave.”  brave  as  in  like  stupid.  but  he  leans  back  in  the  couch.  and  it’s  like  an  invitation.  if  billy  was  feeling  any  other  way  he  would  simply  just  bite  his  head  off.  but  weed  makes  him  pliant.  the  alcohol  soothes  the  constant  fire  burning.  he  wouldn’t  mind  a  kiss.  he  wouldn’t  mind  a  kiss  on  the  mouth.  licks  his  lip.  and  he  shifts,  widening  his  legs.  let’s  tommy  be  the  one  to  make  the  first  move.

heather’s   attention   go   from   playing   around   with   her   nose   ring   to   tommy.   which   in   fact   she   had   known   that   agreeing   to   this   was   absolutely   the   worst   idea.   she   didn’t   have   the   heart   to   tell   steve   that   his   friends   are   a   bunch   of   two   faces   assholes.   or   well,   she   did.   it   was   more   so   the   fact   that   she   liked   the   drama.   even   if   she   was   dead   middle   on   the   field   for   it.   maybe   she   shouldn’t   be   using   her   powers   for   this,   not   actively   at   least.   but   she   does   anyways.   and   it’s   something   bitter,   something   mean,   something   blue   but   nothing   new.   she   shifts   on   the   chair.   movements   uninterested,   sorta   cat   like.   tilts   her   head   up   and   to   a   side.   “-i   have   no   idea   what   you’re   talking   about,   i   just   like   to   stare.”   leans   on   her   hand   “-i   think   you   worry   too   much,   about   steve   i   mean...like   sure   it’s  okay   that   you   do.   but   you   don’t   have   to   worry   all   that   much   about   me   doing   something   i   shouldn’t.”   of   course   it’s   a   moot   point.   because   hernandez   is   already   worrying,   because   she   exists.   and   she   shouldn’t   be   here.   heather   knows.
