Hey……I’m not sure if you know but the zine your involved in on Twitter is run by minors and the persona community is starting to voice their concerns (I.e. hate for it over minors running it and not allowing ships/ and treating maruki like he didn’t groom children)

Sighs. Alright, here we go.

I debated with myself over whether or not I should answer this publicly— but I will, because first off, I know anon probably means well, and secondly, I think there are points here that are ultimately too important for me not to address.

Yes, I have heard of the drama-rama surrounding this zine. The mod team is indeed mostly comprised of minors. Only the person handling finances needs to be over 18. I... honestly do not see the problem with this. Everyone was a minor at one point. Did that ever stop you from enjoying things and wanting to participate in them? Being young doesn't mean you should be excluded from trying to create a fun project for a fandom that you're part of! Everyone has to start somewhere. Seasoned, experienced mods didn't get that way overnight. How do you expect anyone to learn if you don't allow them to gain the experience they need? The zine isn't n/s/f/w. I don't see why minors shouldn't be allowed to run it.

Nobody in this zine is putting Maruki on a pedestal. Everyone knows he's a villain. It's a zine about a bad guy. We're all aware that he's terrible. Which brings me to the bonus point...

*taps the sign* People are allowed to enjoy villains in fiction. People are allowed to be interested in the actions and motives of fictional characters, to discuss and celebrate them as an integral part of the media, to share opinions and show appreciation for the way they were written. Maruki is an incredibly fucked up guy. Oh man. I could write an essay about him. I want to put him in a petri dish and study how his twisted little brain works, because I find him so fascinating. He's easily one of my favorite antagonists of all time, if not my absolute favorite. Does that mean I endorse all the horrible shit he's done? Does that mean that I think yeah, maybe he was right and he should have brainwashed everyone, actually? Do I think he's a good guy? God, of course not. I just think he's neat. He's also a completely awful person. Those things are not mutually exclusive. Also... He isn't real. Like, at all.
