Super Falcons have refused to leave their hotel base after crashing out of the #FIFA Womens World Cup in France following the 3-0 loss to Germany in the round of 16. Nigerian Players told ESPN they are owed bonuses from two games, against Gambia and Senegal, from as far back as two years ago, amounting to 2 million Nigerian naira (about $5,600 U.S.), but they have been paid only half of that. They also say they are owed five days of daily allowance while at the World Cup. "They paid us 1 million [naira] and said that is all. We want them to pay the balance," one player told ESPN. "Part of that money is from two years ago, the other is from three years ago. And they are also owing us five days' daily allowance here in France. "Before the World Cup, we asked them for a meeting so that we could discuss our World Cup bonuses, like they did with the men's team last year. They ignored the letter and nobody said anything about it until now." . . It is not the first time Nigeria's women team has staged a protest over bonuses. Shocking: The decayed infrastructure serving as UNN hostels . . The hostels — which are just two — are a definition of filth and neglect; from decayed infrastructure gradually giving way for collapse to rooms overflowing with students. The facilities are unhealthy for the thousands occupying them. . . For a school that brags as Nigeria’s first indigenous university — established since 1960 — one would expect the institution to live up to its name. But, sadly, abysmal sanitation, overcrowded rooms, poor electrification, inadequate shower and toilet facilities are all valid concerns in the campus. . . While there are just two hostels housing the male students (one was shut down after it was declared unfit for residence), that of the ladies are about eight, most of them in good conditions. . . However, even with the pressure now on the two remaining male hostels — rooms meant for six students in most cases end up with eight or more — the school management, it was discovered, are going at a snail’s pace to find alternative solutions for students. Court allegedly sentences Kano singer to 2 years imprisonment over anti-Ganduje song . . Reports claim that a magistrate court in Kano has sentenced a singer, Mohammed Yusuf, to two years imprisonment for defaming the character of the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in his hit song. According to reports, Yusuf's song which was intended to praise Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II contained some stanzas in which he outrightly defamed Governor Ganduje. Daily Nigerian reports that the singer, Mohammed, was arrested by the police on Monday, June 17 and arraigned before magistrate court at 72 Noman’s Land in Kano, presided by Aminu Gabari. . . It was gathered that the court found Yusuf guilty of three-count charges; of releasing a song without the approval of the Kano state Censorship Board, releasing a video without obtaining approval and defamation of the character of Governor Ganduje. . . Grusome: 18-year-old girl strangled to death in Delta community . An 18-year old girl identified as Favour Ogheneyenrowho has been reportedly strangled to death by suspected ritualists in #Abraka, Ethiope-East council area of Delta state. . The incident has thrown the community into serious tension. The Nation gathered that the victim’s pubic hairs were shaved off before she was murdered and her remains kept in a “Ghana-must-Go” bag which was disposed at a dump site behind #Ozoro park in the town. . While browsing, Sharon ,came across a Facebook suggestion of 'people you may know' it was there that she noticed a profile that looked like hers. She sent Melon a 'friend request'. . . No sooner had Melon 'accepted', the request, the two started engaging in a war of words with each of them questioning the authenticity of the other's online profile. . . They were both suspicious of their striking resemblance but after the online altercation they chose to cut off their communication. . . The two finally met in December 2018 at a bus stop in Kakamega town. . . This was prompted by constant mention by their teachers and schoolmates about their resemblance. Sharon had participated in a high school music festival where the Melon's school had also participated. . . Sharon's teachers and classmates were puzzled when they saw someone that resembled Melon at the festival even though she was not participating. Melon's classmates took a photo of Melon which they later showed to Sharon. Out of curiosity, the twins contacted each other during school holidays. . . Soon, their communication became frequent to the extent that they introduced each other to their parents. In April 2019, both families resorted to solve the mystery by seeking professional help. Lancet Kenya then offered to carry out a DNA test at subsidised cost. . . Their mother, Ms Onyango is said to have gone to Kakamega Hospital while pregnant on August 15, 1999. She expected to deliver triplets but when she regained consciousness after delivery through a caesarean section, she was informed that she had given birth to twins. . . Ex-minister’s son kidnapped in #Oyo . . Dayo, a son of Isaac Adewole, former minister of health, was abducted in #Afijio local government area of Oyo state around 6pm on Tuesday, according to The Nation. . .
