I sometimes am asked if I see much anti-americanism or anti-foreigner sentiment in China during the trade war, NBA scandal, Huawei etc. These photos are my answer. Walked up on these guys drinking and eating in an alley in Dalian. They asked me to join and gave a hearty round of thumbs up and pats on the back when I told them I was American. They did mention something about NBA but clearly it had no effect on their hospitality and pride in their hometown. One-on-one the Chinese are almost always gracious and welcoming hosts. In the end they insisted on a group photo and I was fending off kisses from one. Lol.
