it is five thirty in the morning . the cat is screaming , because it has awoken to find it's bowl is ( most likely not ) empty . consequentially david too begins to fuss , a quiet upset starting that heugh can hear from within the nursery past the slurry of what dreams he's being wrenched from sloshing in his ears as he struggles to parse what exactly is going on . he's not alone in that he wakes at this unwanted hour , the shape of chris underneath the toss of their bedsheets morphing their landscape with groggy , shifting legs just beginning to remember themselves , knocking against heugh's calve . none of this should be happening , and they should still be sleeping . he's about to look up beginning symptoms to stockholm syndrome . but the familiarity in chris' fingers as they slide over the breadth of his chest to feel over the make of it's sternum , though , does help to warm him over some , sober him of his sleep's dreary . it's silly . it makes him feel like a boy , how warm he is in his belly . how ridiculous love could be . i’m so bad at reviewing books mikel why would u do this to me

BUT.   six of crows duology by leigh bardugo!    it’s one of my favorite books and definitely one that i’ll carry with me forever methinks.    it’s plopped into the YA genre but it’s not a YA in my eyes <3    i mean,   it is ............. but it doesn’t follow any of the formulas that we’re familiar with and cringe at in a YA.    it’s found family in a world that encourages cruelty,   in a world where love and patience and gentleness and comfort are seen as weaknesses and flaws for survival.    it mixes fantasy and crime in one bundle,   and it’s executed well.    it’s got a sexy heist plot in which six lil dum dums attempt the impossible for $$$$$$$.    each of the characters have their own backstories that are intricately woven into each other and the plot,   and there’s a unique display of how trauma presents itself and how a person lives with it,   and how it affects their relationship with the world.    the dialogue is well written,   the vibes are immaculate,   the level of detail put into the methodology of various crime aspects are Chefs Kiss   ( like,   picking a lock etc etc ).   I JUST RECOMMEND IT.    READ IT!!!!!!!
