okay but this habit people have of crying “predator” straight up causes problems for anyone trying to avoid ACTUAL predators.

now anytime i see someone say that “so-and-so is a predator” i have to do a fucking deep dive into it to see if they’re ACTUALLY hurting anyone, or if they just like. posted ship art or furry art or fanfic or whatever that depicts incest or underage characters or something.

like, do y’all pull the fire alarm because you saw a drawing of a building burning down???

i’m not even trying to say that y’all SHOULDN’T make callouts for these things (though of course, that is what i believe) but for the love of god PLEASE at the very least make callouts accurate. don’t call someone a rapist because they’re into cnc. don’t call someone a child predator because they ship underage characters. if you wanna call them out for these things, fine. but the fear-mongering needs to stop, because it’s straight up dangerous.

when i look at a callout and see stuff that’s grossly exaggerated, taken out of context, or flat out made up; now i can’t trust anything on there. maybe some of it is a legit cause for concern. maybe some of it would actually keep me away from this person. but now i can’t trust any of it, and i’m sure i’m not the only one who feels that way. that’s dangerous.
